I found it by chance in a department store, and for me, it’s the best flanker in the The Scent series. It smells warm, elegant, and sweet (I detect a cacao note, even though it’s not listed in the official composition, huh?), but without being cloying or suffocating; it always maintains freshness, probably thanks to the vetiver, so it works for day and night. The trail is moderate, leaning heavy if you overdo it (three sprays are enough indoors, five suffice outdoors). Longevity is notable; I wore it for 9 hours on skin with good projection for the first three. For autumn and winter, it’s great for elegant events and the workplace. The quality/price ratio is acceptable. It’s a definite keeper in my collection and will stay there for a long time. Rating: 8.5/10.
A great option for autumn if you’re looking for a designer scent that’s reasonably priced and has good performance. It’s sweet but not cloying, a classic Hugo Boss sweetness, ideal for a jacket, dinner, or events—more for night than the rest of the line. It sits well, noticeable but not overwhelming. Moderate projection, enough for any situation, and longevity around 6 hours. In my test, it seemed to project better than it lasted, but in other reviews and votes, it seems to hold up well too. If you like the scent for €50, you can’t ask for more.
Boss The Scent Absolute is the last of the The Scent family, a warm and spicy oriental fragrance. It kicks off with the line’s typical maninka fruity note, wrapped in ginger and a touch of cacao, lasting about 15-20 minutes. Then a vanilla and vetiver base comes to the forefront. After two hours, the sweetness tones down, leaving a woody base that’s still sweet but less intense, with fruity hints, very pleasant. Over time, I’ve grown to love the whole line. This Absolute seems like a mix of the original, Intense, and Private Accord: it has the ginger from the first, the vanilla from the Intense, and the cacao from the Private Accord, and they all share that maninka fruit. My point is, if you have one of the four, you don’t need more. Of the five, my favorite is the Parfum Edition, the best blended and the one that stands out the most; next would be Private Accord, and the rest are similar to each other. Almost none are versatile for all seasons, except the first version; the rest are for fresh weather, autumn, or winter. Ideal for romantic dates or going to the bar. Performance was excellent, close to 10 hours, with regular projection.
I’m adding this to my autumn list: it’s a designer option at a good price with great performance. It’s sweet but not cloying, more in the Hugo Boss style, perfect for a jacket, dinner, or evening events. It looks good, noticeable but not invasive, with moderate projection and enough for any situation. Longevity is about 6 hours; maybe it’s just my test because it seemed to project better than it lasted, but reviews suggest it lasts a long time. If you like a scent for €50, you can’t ask for more.
Boss The Scent Absolute is the latest flanker in the line, an oriental fragrance that’s warm and spicy. It starts like the others in the range, with that maninka fruit surrounded by ginger and cacao, lasting 15 to 20 minutes. Then vanilla and vetiver emerge. After two hours, the sweetness mellows, leaving a woody base that’s still sweet but less intense, with fruity tints. It’s pleasant; over time, I’ve grown to appreciate it. It’s like mixing the original, Intense, and Private Accord: it has the ginger from the first, the vanilla from Intense, and the cacao from Private Accord, all sharing the maninka. If you own one of the four, you don’t need another. Of the five, my favorite is the Parfum Edition—the best blended and least similar to the rest; next would be Private Accord, and the rest are essentially the same. Almost none are versatile, except the first; the others are for autumn or winter. Ideal for outings with a partner, dates, or bars. Performance is very good, near 10 hours, with regular projection.
Super sensual and addictive fragrance designed for total intimacy, like a tête-à-tête in a palace salon. It starts with an aldehydic and spicy opening that quickly yields to an exotic fruity, vanilla, and sweet touch without going overboard. It leaves woody and liquor-like reminiscences, like dry rum in the sun, with that powdery and talcum touch that I love. The base is very soft, smoky, and earthy, like an alley pond at dusk with the frogs. Nothing cloying, all warm, refined, and elegant. Perfect for autumn or winter afternoons and nights. It’s not extreme at all and doesn’t change much over time; it performs well without being invasive. Shh! How discreet. It gives me the feeling of having hidden notes like amberwood, tonka, or maybe tobacco, although Hugo Boss says it’s just ginger, maninka, and mondia root. I did some research: maninka is an African tree with white flowers and thorns, used to make snuff boxes and as an aphrodisiac, with notes of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. The mondia root, or white ginger, is a vine that stimulates libido and has a licorice, cinnamon, and vanilla aftertaste. All this libido-boosting mix seems made to encourage healthy foreplay. It caught me like a vine to a tree, like the ivy from Los Panchos. For me, it’s the best in the line, better than Private Accord, which I like but loses that purity and simplicity with its additions. The ivy and the wall could never be closer, just like your eyes to mine. Croac… Croac… Croac…
An extremely sensual and addictive creation, designed for close quarters and tête-à-tête moments, like in a stately drawing room. It opens almondy, spicy, and peppery, then gives way to an exotic fruity, vanilla-sweet scent in perfect balance. Reminiscent of woody and liquor-like notes, with a smoky, earthy base, like a pond at dusk. Nothing cloying; it’s warm, refined, and sophisticated. Very appropriate for autumn and winter afternoons and evenings. Nothing extreme, no drastic shifts; it offers great performance without being explosive. Discretion is key! It seems to carry undeclared notes like amberwood or tobacco. The official notes are ginger, maninka, and mondia root, along with vetiver. Maninka, an African fruit with a hard shell used in rattles, has pulp reminiscent of strawberries in chocolate or passion fruit, with vanilla undertones. Mondia root, or white ginger, stimulates libido and boosts testosterone, with hints of licorice, marzipan, and vanilla. This whole aphrodisiac mix fosters healthy chemistry. It caught me like a vine to a tree, like the ivy in the song by Los Panchos. For me, the best in the entire line, better than Private Accord, which loses this Absolute’s purity with its additions.
I’m not a huge fan of this Hugo Boss line, but I decided to give it a try and it won me over. It follows a similar path to Carolina Herrera’s Men Privé, though this Absolute version is sweeter without being cloying—very subtle. I love elegant, refined, resinous scents with a nocturnal vibe; this fragrance delivers and is pleasant to wear. It’s not an extraordinary jewel, but it’s good. Thanks to compliments from my wife and colleagues, I’ve grown fond of it. It’s romantic, a lure to catch its prey, because women are fascinated by it. I feel it’s warm, with a dark, elegant sweetness and chocolatey moments. Best for cold climates and nights; it’s perfect for a date. It evolves into woody notes without losing the initial sweetness. Scent: 8.0. Projection: 2 hours, solid. Longevity: over 8 hours. Recommended.
HUGO BOSS THE SCENT ABSOLUTE FOR HIM: It wasn’t my usual Hugo Boss style, but I decided to give it a try. It reminds me of Carolina Herrera’s Men Privé, though this one is sweeter without being cloying—very subtle. I love elegant, refined, and resinous scents, perfect for evening wear. It’s pleasant and does the job. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s a great fragrance; I didn’t get it at first, but the compliments from my wife and colleagues won me over. It has a romantic character, like bait that fascinates women. It smells warm, with a dark, elegant sweetness and subtle chocolatey moments. Ideal for cold climates and nights; it’s perfect for a date. It evolves into woody notes without losing its initial sweetness from start to finish. Scent: 8.0. Projection: 2 hours, very good. Longevity: Good, over 8 hours. Recommended.
I bought it for my boyfriend. I had the idea to get him something woody with cedar and amber, and nothing too citrusy. In the store, I tried many that fit my budget but none really convinced me until I tried this and couldn’t take it off my nose. Even though I sense a totally citrusy opening, it quickly becomes warm; the woody notes envelop you, there’s a bit of sweetness, some leather that makes it sensual… I loved it! I had to go over my budget, but I think it was totally worth it. It looks divine on my boyfriend.

I bought this fragrance; the opening is strong, but as time passes, I don’t like it. It seems dry, with a cinnamon scent, very dry. I’m going to switch to Viktor and Rolf; they recommend a sweet, dark perfume for night.
For me, the best Hugo Boss I’ve ever owned.
Since this is my first post on this incredible site, I must say I’ve been a loyal fan of all Hugo Boss perfumes since the 90s. Today in 2023, this BOSS THE SCENT ABSOLUT has finally reached a point of maturity and seduction for me. It’s an aroma that delivers from start to finish. In my perception, it’s a vanilla opening that maintains itself throughout. I feel that subtly smoky notes appear. I wore this to a party and met a girl (add some attitude) who was hugging me and celebrating a great time with me, turning me into a beast mode man. It’s worth every peso!
It was discontinued for a while and has now returned to the market… apparently it was reformulated… :(. Edit: I have the original formula. The opening is indeed good, but the dry-down doesn’t please me as much anymore. It’s very dry to my taste. I don’t see it as youthful at all; it’s good for 30+ years old.
Wow, the first time I tested this perfume on blotter paper, it seemed very good, but the moment I applied it to my skin… it reminded me a lot of Pure XS Night (due to the spicy ginger note) and The Scent Private Accord (obviously, as it’s a flanker, it’s very similar). It’s an interesting but unattractive blend. Its dry-down is the worst part; very dark and earthy, almost overwhelming (musk-like). It was a very strange mix of emotions, a rollercoaster from “wow” to “ew.” I recommend always testing perfume on skin whenever possible, not just on paper, to avoid disappointments later at home.
I applied it at 6:00 PM, and it’s now 12:42 PM the next day, and the scent is still right on the skin; projection is normal. It’s a generic but very rich aroma. I’d say it suits ages 25-45.
If you’re looking for something affordable with decent projection and sillage, I highly recommend it. The scent is very good; it smells sweet with some wood notes, ideal for autumn, in my opinion.
I owned the EDT several years ago and loved the aroma, but its longevity was poor. This year, after reading reviews and seeing it was a good price, I bought the Absolute. It was a revival of olfactory nostalgia. It reminded me of the original but with sweeter, more mature notes. The harmony between the three declared notes is quite good. As someone mentioned in a review below, it’s sweet and earthy with a slight fresh spark. Regarding performance, I’d say at least 8 hours with moderate projection. It won’t flood the room, but people nearby will notice it. I wore it at 11:30 AM and went to my brother’s house at 5:00 PM; within minutes, he asked about the perfume because I was moving and he was catching whiffs of the scent. I see it as a versatile fall/winter fragrance. It works well for outings, dates, and the office with just a few sprays. Given the price and performance, I would buy it again.
The best Boss scent I’ve tried; its three unique notes create a fragrance that is sweeter, more elegant, and casual. It’s ideal for older individuals, and honestly, this is the best Boss scent that exists.
