Descripción
Boss The Scent Private Accord by Hugo Boss is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by Bruno Jovanovic. The top notes feature ginger and bergamot opening the olfactory pyramid; the heart reveals a combination of maninka, coffee, pepper, and pineapple; while the base settles on cocoa, woody notes, vanilla, patchouli, Amberwood, and benzoin.

Wow, I loved it… I didn’t expect that at all. What a sensual and edible fragrance for men! You get the urge to take a good bite! It’s super cozy and hugging, smelling of cocoa and vanilla, but over time it becomes woodier and softer. It’s a sophisticated, edible gourmand. I can imagine a man in a cashmere sweater in a luxurious Alpine house, by the fireplace, sitting happily in his armchair with friends and family, drinking hot chocolate with cream in the middle of Christmas. Those who don’t like cocoa or sweetness should stay away. It’s a perfect Christmas gift because it evokes those parties with that spiced and dessert-like scent. A perfect fall and winter fragrance. I don’t see a specific age range for it.
Too much hype for nothing. Alongside Azzaro Wanted Night, this was my biggest disappointment of the year. This usually happens when you’re hyped, you try it, and it turns out to be a rip-off. I own several Hugo Boss fragrances, including the original Scent, which are much better in every aspect. My advice: test it before buying blindly; asking for more than 50 euros is quite bold. The opening is good, warm, and gourmand, but the performance drops incredibly fast; after an hour, it’s just a memory. There are much better options at similar prices, like the entire Ferragamo Uomo line, Spicebomb, or 1 Million Lucky. Absolutely forgettable in my case.
I haven’t bought it yet, but I’ve tested it a couple of times and it seems like a must-buy. It smells great and has excellent performance in both longevity and sillage. Plus, it has a rich chocolate scent that isn’t cloyingly sweet and smells very masculine.
I was in a store looking for a shirt, and they let me test this on a blotter. At first, I liked it, put it in my pocket, and left. Two hours later, it was still smelling great, and I was falling in love with how it evolved; even my office colleagues gave me good feedback. The deal was sealed that night when my wife told me she loved it. I went to buy it the next day. Although we sometimes buy things just because we like them (and sometimes only for ourselves, haha), I think you need a perfume that matches your image and gets you compliments. The cocoa notes fade quickly, but the coffee lasts about three hours. The wood and pepper blend well with the coffee and highlight some citrus touches. Projection is moderate to low, lasting about 5-6 hours on skin. I recommend it for men over 35, in humid or cold mid-season climates, especially for romantic guys, because this scent definitely makes women give you a longer hug.
Okay, it smells good, good fixation, but we’re not getting out of the same boat. Boss The Scent has so many variants: one has something, another took it away, another is EDT, another EDP, another concentrated, another Autograph, etc., spinning in circles. Even the bottle changes little. If you test all the variants: Intense, Private, EDP, EDT, Collection, Concentré, etc., and don’t see much difference in the scent. Is it that they stretch the formula to the max to make money and don’t care about non-ignorant consumers? Stop treating the consumer like a fool.
I really liked The Scent Private Accord; both this version and the Parfum Edition seemed better than the original, though they share some common traits. This version felt less sweet, a bit bitter, but it still had the maninka note, which seems to give that fruity touch to all versions. It starts fruity but with bitter and warm notes, perhaps a bit of cocoa, coffee, and ginger. It has a slight gourmand sensation but isn’t cloying (at least for me). Over time, the coffee and cocoa fade while the woody notes rise, a bit of patchouli and vanilla, but that fruity touch remains. It makes me think of someone in a warm sweater drinking hot chocolate near a fireplace. I think it’s appropriate for fall, winter, and a bit of spring. It suits a wide age range, though it might seem a bit more mature than the first version or Intense due to the bitter and woody notes. I really liked the scent; I don’t know why, but it puts me in a good mood. I liked the Parfum Edition more for its leather and iris aroma, but its performance was lacking and it’s hard to find; however, the Private Accord comes close to that aroma and seems to last longer in the market. Despite loving it, I don’t recommend buying it blindly, but I do suggest trying it. In the end, what one person likes another might reject, or vice versa.
I liked The Scent Private Accord, both this version and the Parfum Edition seem better than the original, though they share common traits. This version is less sweet, a bit bitter, but keeps the marmalade, which provides the common fruitiness to all. It starts fruity with bitter and warm notes, perhaps cocoa, coffee, and ginger. It has a light gourmand sensation without being cloying. Over time, coffee and cocoa fade, while woody notes, patchouli, and vanilla increase, but that fruitiness remains. It reminds me of a warm sweater, hot chocolate near a fireplace. Appropriate for autumn, winter, and some spring. Wide age range, seems more mature than the first version or Intense due to the bitter and woody notes. I liked it a lot; I don’t know why exactly, but it puts me in a good mood. I liked the Parfum Edition more for the aroma (leather and iris), but its performance was disappointing and it’s hard to find; this Private Accord gets closer to that aroma and seems to last longer on the market. Despite loving it, I don’t recommend buying blind, but I do suggest trying it. Finally, what one likes, another rejects.
I’ve tried few perfumes from this house, and they usually seem lacking in quality. This one had good reviews so I wanted to try it. Unfortunately, I can’t support them. It’s an undefined scent, with good longevity but always on a low profile, a bit artificial, and below others in the cocoa/coffee segment like Uomo Signature or Man Black Essence.
I bought it today; all signs point to it being good. I’ll share a full review once I have one.
I acquired it today, and everything points to it being a good fragrance. I’ll share a full review here once I have one.
I’ve been testing this fragrance and it’s in a good top spot for Hugo Boss. The standout note is cocoa with vanilla and woody notes giving it that sweet/spiced accord. A very good fragrance I recommend buying blind. It completely breaks away from the classic caramelized green apple of the Bottled line.
I think this Hugo Boss line is very true to what they do: masculine, safe perfumes with moderate to low performance. However, after hearing good reviews on MyScentJourney about this flanker (due to the cocoa notes), I decided to try it. It was true: a designer perfume with rich cocoa and coffee notes. It smells unique; yes, it shares similarities with the original due to the maninka note, but it goes in a direction that distances it from that “safe” German house aroma. I was confused the first time I smelled it: yes, there was cocoa and coffee, but I wasn’t sure where that slightly spiced fruity note was going; I even thought its performance was low. After a few days and applying more (13 sprays), I found an explosive aroma in the first 4 hours, followed by a moderate sillage for another 8 hours; on clothes, it lasts until the next day. The scent is masculine; some say it’s sweet, but imagine a ripe fruit candy, not like a dessert or caramel. The coffee notes last less than the cocoa, but they combine to give an impressive body, fusing with patchouli. Diving into every detail is complex due to the uniqueness of this Private Accord; it generates compliments, works for dates, with friends, working from home, in the office, or formally; in any occasion, you’ll leave an unforgettable olfactory memory. Should I recommend it? Yes, and if you’re in the niche or premium world, don’t judge it for being by Hugo Boss; shake off those marketing prejudices to enjoy this unique gem.
This Hugo Boss line fits their style: masculine, confident, moderate-to-low performance. However, after reading good reviews on MyScentJourney about the cocoa notes, I dove in. It was real: a designer perfume with rich cocoa and coffee. It smells unique, shares similarities with the original via the marmalade, but heads in another direction, far from the safe German aroma. Initial confusion, yes, there was cocoa and coffee, but I didn’t know where that slightly spiced fruity note was going; I even thought the performance was low. With days passing and applying more (13 sprays), I found an explosive aroma in the first 4 hours, followed by a moderate trail for 8 more hours, lasting on clothes until the next day. Masculine aroma, sweet like ripe fruit, not dessert or caramel. Coffee lasts less than cocoa, but they blend to create an impressive body, fusing with patchouli. Describing each note is complex due to the Private Accord’s uniqueness; it generates compliments, works for dates, friends, remote work, the office, or formal events; you’ll leave a unique olfactory memory. Should I recommend it? Yes, and if you’re in niche or premium, don’t judge it for being Hugo Boss; shake off marketing prejudices to enjoy this unique gem.
I started with this house this year; I already have three scents (Boss in Motion, Hugo Man Extreme, The Scent Private Accord). The first two are nostalgia, the third tested the gourmand/spiced/exotic hype, and I concluded it gave me liver trouble, but that’s part of the job. They are three flankers of the original, four in total, and I don’t know which is the best. It’s warm and spiced, but not like The One. It has cocoa, but not like Dior Homme. It has coffee, but not like Mugler A*men. Discover what it offers: an opening that’s slightly alcoholic, not explosive, reserved and skin-scented. Subtle fresh citrus notes, then ginger opens the path between sweet-and-sour and earthy. As it settles, the exotic fruit (marmalade), similar to passion fruit, fruity pulp. No pineapple detected. In the trail, coffee style moka, subtle, soft, creamy, like hazelnut, not Hershey’s chocolate, more like hazelnut cream. It ends with diluted coffee, soapy, lacking a strong woody note for body and rounding with absent powdery vanilla. Here, there is NO dense dark chocolate fragrance, roasted coffee trail, sweet fruity opening with cloying pineapple, biting pepper, boozy vanilla, spices, and smoked tobacco. That would have been exquisite, but it’s not. It’s a small fresh boat, powdery with coffee nuances, and that’s it. Short longevity, maybe 1 hour, it fades like a cigarette. Utterly simple, innocent, youthful, light coffee touch. What a disappointment. When I persist with elements I like but don’t enjoy the scent, I’ll reconsider the original or another flanker, because here the PRIVATE ACCORD wasn’t executed as it should have been. K.
One of my favorite Hugo Boss scents. I bought it blind after seeing a winter top pick on a YouTuber, and it was a total hit. Smells amazing, a very pleasant sweet fruity aroma with great performance. My batch from 11/13/2020 lasts almost 7 hours, notably strong in the first hour. Usage: cold weather, casual outings, walks, or family celebrations. Versatile, works for work, dates, or business dinners. A party? Maybe it lacks the punch to stand out. It’s getting hard to find, so hurry before it disappears. Great fragrance.
As my colleague, a fan of Issey Miyake, says: “they always pull the best ones quickly and leave the crap.” My favorite in the saga with HB The Scent. Are you as lost as I am with so many flankers in some fragrance lines? Well, here’s another addition to the Chief Hugo collection. The Private Accord (private accord) from 2018. Watch out, today it’s 2024, and it’s practically discontinued; if you find it, it’ll be by chance in a small perfumerie with old stock or started testers. When it dries, it slightly reminds you of the original Scent, but this one has its own bitter coffee and cocoa accord (note: this doesn’t smell like a gourmand chocolate) that joins the ginger opening with the traditional spiced maninka of the saga and a soft woody base to give it weight and longevity. Longevity is quite good considering the current state of fragrances with poor performance at high prices. 7 hours with 1.30 hours projecting to half a meter. Mature and nocturnal, it doesn’t smell generic or like usual aromas. For guys 35 and up with a set style and a personality proof against trends, who intentionally want to be different from the masses. I don’t see it as an aroma for everyone, and be careful, on a day with over 30°C it can be deadly due to dizziness and a headache. If you see it, try it, you might like it. Blindly or without knowing it beforehand, I don’t recommend it, and don’t pay the ridiculous 80-90 euros or more for 100ml bottles as asked in the gray market.
As a fellow Miyake fan says: ‘they always pull the best ones fast.’ My favorite in the saga alongside HB The Scent. Lost in the sea of flankers? Come on, another addition to Boss Hugo’s collection: The Private Accord from 2018. Warning: it’s discontinued as of 2024; if you find it, it’ll be by luck in small shops with old stock or testers. When it dries down, it recalls the original but with its own private accord of coffee and bitter cocoa (not a gourmand chocolate scent) blending with traditional ginger and spiced marmalade, backed by a soft woody base for weight and longevity. It performs great, lasting 7 hours with average projection. Mature and nocturnal, it doesn’t smell generic. Perfect for guys 35+ with a set style and personality that defies trends, looking to stand out from the crowd. Not for everyone, and be careful: wearing it during the day or in heat over 30°C might give you a headache. If you spot it, give it a try; you might like it. I wouldn’t recommend buying blind, and don’t pay the grey market’s 80-90€+ for 100ml.
A gem for occasional winter wear or a night out in the cold. Guaranteed compliments, I recommend it.
