Sorry to reappear, but I got obsessed with this since I smelled it months ago. This simple bottle from an actor’s brand, a flanker of a fragrance that smells practically the same as Dior Sauvage, smells much better in quality than more expensive designer brands like Ralph Lauren, Paco Rabanne, or Versace, and at a reduced cost. The blend of suede with spicy and ambered characters is masterful. And yet, it still doesn’t explain my feeling. I’m a writer and artist, so I’ll try to do better. I entered the store, remembered it was based on leather, and went in with low expectations after lightly sniffing the EDT. Upon spraying it, I traveled back 15 years. I was no longer in that dusty, semi-desert town in Mexico. I traveled ten thousand kilometers in a millisecond, crossed the Atlantic in an instant. My true eyes opened. Physics didn’t matter. The night was cool and pleasant; the semi-desert cold had disappeared. There were no dark mountains. Lights stretched in all directions, like static fireflies. A few blocks away, the Eiffel Tower stood imposingly. A burst of perfume caressed my nose, coming from a perfumery near the Champs-Élysées. Debussy played in the background.
A good fragrance, but I see it on men over 35. I bought this and the EDT to test them on my skin, but I didn’t like this one precisely for that reason, so I gifted it to my father. Still, it’s a good warm and intimate fragrance since it doesn’t have a great trail. Lasts about 8 hours, but from the third hour on, it stays close to the skin.
What a surprise with this actor’s perfume. I won’t talk about longevity, but given its value, there’s no problem with over-applying. Its aroma immediately reminds me of Givenchy EDP, of course, but at a very accurate price of $20 for 100ml. The opening is loaded with lavender and pepper, evolving into a serious and sober scent perfect for dressing up. I see it as perfect for autumn and winter, very easy to like.
I own it and use it sometimes; it doesn’t drive me crazy. It smells good and is well-made, but it just doesn’t fully convince me. It’s very personal. I recommend trying it to clear up any doubts; it’s quite particular.
I bought it because of videos saying people liked it. I’m updating my comment because after smelling it properly, I actually like it. It’s a fairly serious and formal scent.
Similar to The Icon EDT, as both keep the pepper-lavanda combo, though this one does it with darker and sweeter tints. The suede note gives it a masculine, mature, slightly dark, and dry touch. I understand why people compare it to Azzaro Wanted by Night, but Azzaro’s is richer, fruitier, has lots of cinnamon, is more night-time oriented, and offers better performance. But if you like one, you’ll probably like the other, especially in the dry-down. Lasts about 5 hours. Projection is good for the first half-hour, then it stays close to the skin. Usage: works well for daily wear on cool days. I don’t see it as a night scent because it’s short on power and isn’t particularly sensual. Price matches the product.
It’s not even remotely similar to the Icon EDT. A Challenger V6 is not similar to a Demon :/ The previous review is misleading.
Although my previous reviews were based on store tests, now that I own it, I’m impressed by the quality of Puig’s ingredients. For $30, they offer something better constructed than JPG and CH fragrances, which were commercial disasters. The nose seems anonymous, but it was created by AB/Puig’s in-house perfumer. The EDT is almost identical to Dior Sauvage EDT (citrus, pepper, ambroxan, herbal notes, and woods), while the EDP uses lavender and tangerine with a liquorish touch, an aromatic pepper reminiscent of cardamom, and a hyper-realistic suede note similar to saffron from Le Male Essence de Parfum. Citrusy and aromatic at the start, then the suede emerges with woods and a subtle, non-dominant amber hint. There’s an undeclared lily-of-the-valley or iris note here, though it’s present in the signature, plus a certain fruity/aldehydic apple nuance. It does NOT resemble Givenchy Gentleman EDP, but it does resemble its 2017 EDT sister, which I grabbed for $20 while looking for a CH Privé clone—never do that! If designers are being resold, sell them at a good price. For work? No. Better for night dates, sensual occasions, black-tie events, casual outings, or hitting on someone. For formal events, I prefer Bentley For Men. If you’re young and like it, wear it and get used to it; it smells good (not like gum or shower gel; it has suede with an animalic tone). For $30, it’s worth buying several. I think it’s better than Givenchy and superior to Bentley, which lately smells synthetic. Totally masculine; I’ve never seen a woman wear suede. Some mention incense, but I don’t detect it (I’m a smoker, which reduces my sensitivity to smoky notes). The incense could be resinous olibanum or the church accord from Lapidus. In summary: highly recommended, buy this instead of generic blue scents. Probably AB’s best launch and few things on the market offer this quality-to-price ratio (Agua Brava, Benetton Cold, Colors Black Intenso, Quorum). P.S.: Longevity isn’t beastly, but applying on clothes never fails; it looks perfect on a shirt collar. Edit: It resembles Gentleman EDP in the dry-down due to amber and resins, but the opening and heart don’t match.
My favorite fragrance by Antonio Banderas. On my skin, I notice warm pepper, fresh grapefruit, suede that’s slightly dusty, vanillaized benzoin, and patchouli. Even though the trail isn’t the best, I recommend it for relatively formal situations.
I think this is one of AB’s best, the most distinctive scent from the brand alongside The Secret Temptation. Excellent aroma for the price, serious and masculine, ideal for cool weather or daytime wear. Opens citrusy with grapefruit and spicy with pepper, then shifts to a serious, slightly dark and green scent; quite linear. I don’t detect the orris, but I do sense something dusty. It radiates seriousness and is rare to find. Lasts 7-8 hours on skin, with moderate projection at first before settling into a personal bubble. It doesn’t resemble Armani Code or Gentleman EDP at first, but after several hours it shares similarities with both, as well as Boss Bottled Parfum. An excellent affordable alternative, the best candidate for ‘good, beautiful, and cheap’.
It’s a good perfume for dates and night outings, though I feel it’s more geared toward older men or gentlemen rather than young people.
Quite a sweet perfume; the grapefruit dominates. It’s easy to use and you won’t go unnoticed, but I’d wear it more with a suit than in informal situations. Not for everyday use because it could get cloying. It has good longevity for how affordable it is. The best of Antonio Banderas, although not much to say. For people over 30.
Exquisite and fruity aroma, with a dry-down similar to Givenchy’s Gentleman. For AB perfumes, I think if they were priced just 5 euros higher, we’d gladly pay for them to last a bit longer, but it’s a good perfume.
The Icon EDP is captivating from the start. It projects for an hour, lasts about 6 hours on skin and 12 on clothes. It feels made with quality, nothing synthetic. From the Antonio Banderas house, I think it’s one of the best in terms of quality-to-price ratio and longevity. I see it for men over 30, ideal for night use or cold or air-conditioned days. 100% recommended.
I love the scent, but as we all know, AB perfumes don’t last or project much. If they released a Le Parfum or Elixir version that projected and lasted longer, honestly, I’d be willing to pay double.
Amazing perfume, folks, something delicious at an excellent price.
I bought it blindly based on a recommendation. It’s not unpleasant nor does it give a wow effect, but for a casual perfume, it’s fine.
It’s rare for one not to resemble the EDT, Elixir, or Attitude; they’re worlds apart. This and the EDT start the same with a citrus and pepper opening, followed by lavender. Then something resinous, woody, and spicy enters, making it a serious flanker. Benzoin and suede dominate, giving it a mature character, while the woods are stronger than in the EDT. It’s not an easy scent; the EDT is more versatile and smells better, though this projects more. It works well in winter or autumn in formal settings, but not for everyday wear. I’ve gotten compliments, especially from older women, but I notice others didn’t like it as much. I like it, but I feel it’s missing something. For the price, it’s a good buy, but try it first and have other perfumes.
What a shame. It smells delicious but lasts and projects nothing, leaving no trail. Despite that, it’s very affordable. I use it before bed because it’s so relaxing that, even though I know it won’t last more than 20 minutes, it’s worth it for the scent.
It’s like Fakhar Black but with dark wood notes. Rich, but it’s a perfume for everyday use. It barely reaches three hours, very soft, yet for the price, it’s more than recommended.
I use it daily, but in extreme heat it mixes poorly with sweat and smells bad. It’s soft, so with 6 sprays from the 200ml bottle, it lasts all day. The scent lasts about 6 hours, and the projection is just okay, maybe an hour. Ideal for hanging out with friends or going to uni without drawing too much attention, though it also works in formal settings if you account for the duration. Rating: 9/10. Incredible for the price; $30 for 200ml is a steal. If I find it on sale, I’ll buy it again without hesitation.
Disappointing; it smells synthetic and has high longevity. It’s 90% similar to a ten-euro Nike fragrance in a green bottle; I perceive a marked coconut and tonka note.
I’ll keep it as concise as possible: it’s not a bad perfume; it’s exquisite no matter how you smell it. It has decent projection for the price, lasting two hours at a meter and a half range, then becoming more intimate and lasting up to seven hours on skin. Opens with grapefruit and black pepper, evolving into suede or leather with lavender; quite rich. For the price, it’s recommended. Projection 7.5, Longevity 8, Sillage 7, My Score 7.5.
The Icon Eau de Parfum has a slightly sweet, deep, and dark opening where vetiver, pepper, suede, and grapefruit are noticeable. The scent is very good, impossible not to like, but I feel I wouldn’t buy it again due to its scarce longevity and low projection. Its sillage is intimate, but anyone who smells it will compliment you. Scent 9/10, Sillage 5/10, Longevity 6/10, Projection 5/10, Price 8/10. If you want a good and unique scent, it will serve you, but you must reapply every two hours to make it feel moderately present.
Good price, but its longevity is terrible. For that price range, an Arabic fragrance that projects more is better.
It’s the most formal in the line. I don’t know why, but I sense a 60% resemblance to Le Male Parfum. This is for going out, nothing for daily use; it has nothing to do with its siblings. I perceive it as sweet and spicy due to the pepper; it looks great at a wedding and is worth it for the price.
Very rich aroma, with a well-masculine and youthful opening, almost for kids; you can smell the lavender. In the dry down, it’s very similar to Homme Courage, but less spicy and not so piercing.
Honestly, it didn’t fully convince me. The citrus and spicy notes smell medicinal, something strident at first. Although some friends like it: Scent 6/10, Sillage 7/10, Longevity 6.5/10. I don’t like it entirely, though others might. I’d recommend 6 to 10 sprays.
This is what I wear when I don’t know what to put on. It has average longevity and projection, so for the price, I recommend buying an Arabic fragrance and doing 8 to 12 sprays to get it projecting a meter or a meter and a half away.
What a disappointment. I remember this from 2022; it lasted well and projected as AB always does. But two weeks ago, I was gifted the 200ml The Icon EDP, and what bad luck: it barely lasts an hour, and if I say it projects for 10 minutes, that’s generous. If you’re reading this, don’t buy it—it’s been ultra-reformulated. It could be my skin type, though I don’t really believe in that, but it smells awful with a brutal alcoholic opening. Just smell it before spending money. That’s all; I’m putting it in the closet.
This fragrance is an absolute bomb, massively undervalued in the market; without a doubt, it’s the one that has given me the most compliments. I used it for daily wear, at university, at the gym, etc. It lasted 8-10 hours on my skin, creating a 1.5-meter trail with good projection. It does not disappoint.
@111maxi22 I disagree. Gentleman lasts longer, but the ingredient quality (since it’s Firmenich, ew) is INFINITELY inferior in Givenchy compared to The Icon, which uses IFF ingredients. I prefer it a thousand times over Givenchy, or even above Bentley For Men, even though it doesn’t last as long. And that’s not a huge deal: 8 hours for Givenchy, 5 or 6 for Banderas. Half the price, and I have a clear winner. For those who worry about longevity, it’s a matter of bottle aging. A very common fallacy. You just need to let the liquid age a couple of months, and that’s it. This applies to all perfumes, including the first batch of Sauvage (rumored never to have been reformulated for some reason, I believe) and old Aventus: after 3-4 years, the base notes intensify and the opening fades, creating the illusion that these are heavier perfumes. Don’t buy Arab perfumes above these; they are made with cheap materials and lack this quality, even if they last longer.
@JavierSantana I made a mistake not deleting that review; I completely retracted my opinion a long time ago. As I’ve learned more, my appreciation has changed drastically. I noticed a resemblance to Gentleman EDP, but it’s very slight—they only share the undisclosed suede note and perhaps the spicy peppery woodiness. Otherwise, it revolves around lavender and grapefruit in the opening, unlike Givenchy, which is a heavy autumn/winter scent. You could say it takes Gentleman to a fresher point, but it’s not an inspiration or a match, and don’t rule out any comparison to the Natura you mentioned; they are completely different. On my skin, it lasts 6 hours: the first 4 with moderate intensity, then fading slightly. Projection and trail are interesting for the first hour before slowly disappearing.
An uninnovative fragrance, but very wearable and pleasant. The opening has a sticky note that does its magic before evolving quickly into a quite linear, sweet accord. It easily lasts 6 or 7 hours for me; solid performance, even if it’s not a ‘beast mode’. If you’re looking for a no-fuss aroma for cold climates, it’s a great alternative, especially for men over 30. There have always been and will be bolder proposals, yet it has earned an important spot in my collection. Good, beautiful, and cheap 🙂
@111maxi22 That’s life, brother. It’s wise to change your mind. I hope you enjoy both; I like the Banderas much more than the Givenchy. If I were gifted either one, I’d definitely go for the Banderas.
I bought it blind and what a surprise—I loved it so much that I dream of wearing it more than other scents in my collection. The dry down is very pleasant, and I wish it lasted longer. Highly recommended. Scent: 10/10, Longevity and Projection: 8/10.
From the Icon line by Antonio Banderas, this is my favorite, even though I only own the original, this one, and the Elixir. The opening seems very sharp and synthetic, but the dry down is absolutely delicious. It has a suede note I adore, and I think it works in any season, though it’s ideal for mild days.
It opens with a bright citrus but turns incredibly sweet from the first spray. The initial brightness fades quickly, leaving a sweet, silky, suede-like trail that smells almost like cashmere (though the website says suede). It feels a bit mature, perfect for a date because of that seductive, non-overbearing vibe. Sweet but not cloying, with a mysterious touch.
I’ve never liked it. I preferred trying the original, which I loved more than this one. Again, the prominent lavender feels like something for older folks, something I confirmed with other perfumes like the classic JPG. It was a gift from a cousin; he gave it to me halfway used, so I couldn’t get the full experience out of it. Still, don’t let that stop you: try it if you like lavender-based fragrances.
The performance is identical to the EDT, but the scent is on another level: sophisticated and far from that $30 price point. It reminds me of Givenchy Gentleman EDP, but with a more earthy, chocolatey twist. It doesn’t have the same punch, but it’s much more wearable. It’s the perfect middle ground between easygoing and attention-grabbing. In a world full of Aventus and Sauvage, this stands out for its character. Scent: 9.5/10, Value: 10/10, Projection and Longevity: 7/10 each.
