I was dying to try Vanilla Diorama. Mixed feelings, I say ‘mixed’ because I’ve already smelled something very recent that it resembles. To me, it’s like taking an Angel Share at 50% (by Kilian), fusing it with 30% of Dior’s Dolce Vita and 20% of Miss Dior Le Parfum. The result? A delicious, very gourmand aroma where a heavily syrupy orange liqueur stands out with touches of cardamomo and cocoa powder. I sense it’s slightly powdery and warm. My peers (and not because it’s my favorite) have to say they don’t smell a resemblance to Fève Délicieuse. It has a very moderate trail and lasts about 7 hours. As hours pass, it gets sweeter and sweeter but not annoying. It feels like a refined sweet, but friends, I’ll say it seems very boring to me. I’ll enjoy it, but I don’t think I’ll repurchase. I expected something else and am a bit annoyed, but don’t get the wrong idea, because it smells fabulous; it just seems disproportionate for it to be in their private line. Very rich, but this should be called Amber Diorama. I give it a 7.
To me, it’s a warm, rich, and spicy aroma. On my skin, I don’t notice the citrus, but the cardamomo, pink pepper, cocoa, and vanilla are very evident. When it dries down (hours later), you can detect the sandalwood; the patchouli is nonexistent for me. Note: it’s very similar to Fève Délicieuse, not identical but cousins. Fève is sweeter and creamier; Vanilla Diorama is a ‘tipsy’ vanilla, loaded with spices, rum, and cocoa. Its trail is wide and lasts 6-7 hours, whereas Fève has more projection and lasts about an hour longer on me. If I had to choose one, I’d go with Fève Délicieuse. I liked the essence, but I recommend testing it on skin because sometimes it comes out citrusy, and in my case, I don’t smell anything. It’s very unisex and better for fresh or cold months. Rating: 7/10, just missing that touch of originality I expected.

Luckily for my wallet, Vanilla Diorama didn’t win me over. It has a citrus opening that passes quickly, leaving a brief phase reminiscent of Fève Délicieuse. Then it settles into a very smoky, spicy vanilla, too much for my taste, unisex, and slightly powdery. The base smells like unsweetened cocoa powder with a spicy kick, which I imagine is pink pepper. For me, it’s not a sweet perfume. The trail is moderate and lasts about 7 hours on my skin. Honestly, it left me cold… Scent 5/10, Longevity 7/10, Sillage 6/10, Value 4/10, Versatility 6.5/10, Packaging 7/10. Would I buy it again? No.
It smells very similar to Fève, although here the benzoin isn’t quite as prominent. I didn’t like either of them because I’m not a fan of ‘old closet’ or overly powdery scents. And I don’t care what they say about training your nose; if you don’t like it, you don’t like it.
It’s very similar to Feve, though the benzoin isn’t as prominent here. I didn’t like either of them because I’m not a fan of old-closet or dusty scents. And I don’t care what they say about training your nose; if you don’t like it, you don’t like it.
It’s pretty, but it didn’t leave me speechless. On me, it’s spicy with a sweet touch. It opens more with cinnamon than cardamomo; I don’t smell anything citrusy. Then comes a very soft clove with a slightly powdery vanilla. Even though it’s spicy, it doesn’t feel heavy; it floats. To my nose, it’s like mixing the classic L’Air du Temps with lots of dessert vanilla, but without going overboard on the sugar. Lasts between 4 and 6 hours with a soft trail.
Bought the mini to test it out, and I swear I’m taking the full-size version. It’s a super-real vanilla, like an actual dessert, nothing synthetic. The opening with the orange is incredibly enveloping and dries down into that gorgeous gourmand vanilla. It doesn’t last forever, but the scent lingers after a while. I see it as perfect for mixing and versatile for all seasons.
Again, I went by the notes, and it didn’t work out. On my nose, which isn’t used to niche fragrances, it smells like a very old closet with a touch of cinnamon. I’d love to like it, but it’s impossible; my sense of smell just can’t handle it. I get the same vibe from both this and Feve Delicieuse. The good thing is that it lasts quite a while on my skin.
Again, I followed the notes and it turned out badly. On my nose, which isn’t used to niche fragrances, it smells like an old wardrobe with a hint of cinnamon. I’d love to like it, but I can’t—I’m frustrated because my sense of smell isn’t trained and I can’t tolerate it. Both this and Feve Delicieuse feel the same to me. The good thing is that it lasts quite a while on my skin.
Among the perfumes where vanilla takes the lead, I really liked this one because it’s not cloying and is surrounded by spices. At first, it smells like vanilla, cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves (even though they’re not listed); it’s a bit like Tobacco Vanille, but without tobacco. On my skin, I don’t detect the rum, and the cocoa is very faint. In the end, it leaves a non-sweet, spiced vanilla with a background of nuts and orange, making it different from other vanilla scents.
Among perfumes where vanilla is the star, I really liked this one because it’s not cloying and is surrounded by spices. In the opening, you immediately sense vanilla, cardamomo, cinnamon, and clove (even though they aren’t on the list). It felt similar to Tobacco Vanille in this stage, obviously, without the tobacco. On my skin, I don’t perceive the rum and only very faintly the cocoa. In the end, it leaves a sensation of not-too-sweet, spicy vanilla with a background of nuts and orange, making it different from other vanilla perfumes.
It’s an oriental vanilla; it’s not gourmand as they say. In the Middle East, vanilla is used not only in desserts but in men’s fragrances, and the fact that it’s used in pastry doesn’t mean it has to smell like dessert. The second strong note is pepper with cinnamon, which makes it more masculine and at the same time unisex; together with the rum, they give it that refined and classy, oriental touch. It causes olfactory fatigue at times but does project, even on my skin, which is the most difficult; it did project, and for a while I could perceive it, although the scent fades, the people around me did tell me they could smell it. It’s unisex because pepper and cinnamon aren’t very feminine notes and make the fragrance recall a walk in a Middle Eastern market. Scent 8, Longevity 7, Projection 6, Quality 9.

Unisex due to the spices, it smells like a stroll through an oriental market. Scent 8, Longevity 7, Projection 6, Quality 9.
One of my favorite vanillas; I’ve only tried it in decants, but 10 ml lasts me the whole winter, which is its perfect season. I wouldn’t buy the full bottle because it would last forever. Smells like vanilla, rum, and a hint of spice, with incredible projection and longevity that always get me compliments. I wear it day or night, with casual or formal outfits—it goes with everything.

Very potent, but the notes blend together without unfolding properly, and what stands out most is the rum. It didn’t work for me, so I’d recommend not buying it blindly.
They have a similarity to Tom Ford Noir Extreme, I imagine mainly due to the vanilla and sandalwood. If you have one, you won’t want the other because of their great resemblance, which is my case since I already own Noir Extreme.
It’s a warm and spiced perfume that opens strong with natural cinnamon and cardamomo; the rum doesn’t overpower. On my skin, the middle notes combined with vanilla last; I don’t smell the citrus or patchouli. It’s strong, natural, and refined, a gourmand that can be worn all year with controlled sprays. It’s very well blended; the vanilla is delicious at times, reminding me of Mon Guerlain, others of Killian’s Angel’s. It doesn’t smell like dessert, but like a drink: a chocolate liqueur, a kitchen vanilla syrup, or opening a box of chocolates with that spicy cinnamon touch, like a chocolate Abuelita with lots of cinnamon. That’s my perception, it might change because Dior perfumes intensify over time. I have vintage Dior Poison, it’s still intense and majestic, smells throughout the house without smelling stale; it’s one of the richest wines, so Dior makes quality perfumes, you just have to let them macerate. It’s nothing new or out of this world, there are cheaper options. Its sillage is medium to soft, linear, not changing except for the first few seconds of opening. It combines with others, but I don’t recommend blind buying because it opens with known aromas, from powdered cinnamon to concentrated vanilla for desserts. If you’re looking for the perfect vanilla, I assure you this isn’t it, because the spices are stronger. It lasts about 6 to 8 hours with medium intensity. This vanilla, though delicious, isn’t alone; it’s always accompanied by cinnamon, cardamomo, and those notes stand out. It’s perfect for those who love cinnamon and cardamomo with a chocolatey touch, making it powdery. I like cinnamon, so for me, it’s a hit; I eagerly await maceration to give it more strength and longevity. For me, cinnamon is a delight, a potion to attract sweet love, a perfume for lovers.

Vanilla Diorama might disappoint if you’re looking for a super edible gourmand, but if you love spices and rum tones, you’ll adore it. After a few hours, a very clear vanilla resurfaces; although it never becomes gourmand, it has a precious dark and deep quality. Its longevity is excellent, and you notice the trail a lot on yourself and others perceive it abundantly. I’m not sure if it’s for men or women, but if I had to position it, I’d say it’s more masculine; however, for women seeking deep, personality-driven perfumes, it’s perfect. It reminds me a lot of Afnan’s Oud al Bahar, already discontinued; although that one had fewer spices and more fruit, they’re like siblings. It’s very oriental, very ‘night in the Sahara desert,’ in a Berber shop drinking delicious cardamom tea while gazing at the starry sky.
Dior Vanilla Diorama is extremely elegant, unique, and has an incredible evolution. It opens incredibly rich, like fine sweet rum, but it doesn’t last long; immediately, sandalwood emerges with a soft, floral, vanilla-infused patchouli, delicate, with a touch of cinnamon powder that makes it very warm. Extremely elegant, refined, nothing synthetic, with natural ingredients and quality that shows. The sandalwood is aromatic wood for incense, but it doesn’t smell like a church. It’s niche, not for daily wear, the office, or summer. Exclusive use for special occasions, elegant attire, winter, and night, with controlled sprays. Don’t put it on clothes because it doesn’t project well and marks other fragrances. Its extreme elegance makes it not versatile; limited use. Complex, special, unisex but nothing commercial or synthetic. Not a blind buy. If you try it, let it evolve for 15 minutes for its true potential; after half an hour, it stops being ‘grandma’s elegant perfume’ and becomes something special, yes, for older, well-dressed people. It’s not sweet, though not gourmand, it’s warm enough for a date if you don’t overdo it and apply it in advance. I don’t smell lemon or cardamomo, let alone lime; I do smell orange, but it’s weak and overshadowed by vanilla, sandalwood, cinnamon, and patchouli, making it powdery. Note: Not for beginners. Summary: 1. Rum opening that fades quickly. 2. In dry-down, it evolves into subtle orange, dominated by vanilla, sandalwood, cinnamon, and patchouli, very powdery, not flat. 3. Sillage where you walk for three hours. 4. Projection over 1.5 meters; if you over-spray, it fills large rooms. 5. Longevity over 12 hours firmly on skin; on clothes, it lasts forever. 6. Age range, not for young people, use above 40. 7. Similarity, reminds me of a strong Guerlain, can’t recall the name. 8. Compliments, none unpleasant, rather imposing and curious. 9. Use, unisex, elegant, winter, night, over 40. 10. Unisex, yes. 11. Price, high. 12. Verdict: Complex, elegant, exclusive, limited use, winter/night, over 40 well-dressed; noticeable but not versatile or a compliment machine. Not a blind buy, requires testing and letting it dry. Note: 250ml or 8.4oz bottle not available in this format. Tested over 4 days.
Best vanilla scent in my opinion: rich, sweet, and masculine. Elegant; every time I wear it in cold weather, the so-called ‘bongles’ can’t stop staring—those she-wolves go crazy. It smells like sex to them. Opens with rich, rum-soaked vanilla. While marketed as gourmand, it’s not really that. Perfect for cold dates, elegant nighttime moments, or special occasions. Longevity and projection are insane. 10/10
