Hypnotic Poison by Dior

This is my favorite perfume. It smells very sweet and romantic, like a scene from a Twilight movie. It also reminds me of scented neutral Vaseline in a pink round jar. I don’t mind the notes being too much or the almond issue others mention; I guess every skin is different.

I bought a decant to save some cash 💸, but the opening smells like medicine, then it fades into a weird, attacked odor. If you thought it was super fruity and sweet because of the plum, coconut, and blackcurrant, don’t waste a dollar. Maybe if they added some tonka bean, praline, or caramel, it would be closer to what they say on social media.

Intense, sensual, and addictive. Perfect fragrance for a date in fall or winter. I just wish it lasted longer.

I had huge expectations because I love its notes, but I have to say it gave me nausea; it smells like rancid, old almonds. Maybe the Sephora tester was in bad condition, because otherwise, I don’t understand the hype and fuss around this perfume.

It’s not bad, but the intensity doesn’t fully convince me, with a note mix that feels a bit too much. At first, you get that fruity part; to me, it smells more like pineapple and cranberries. On a hard-to-distinguish base, where you can feel the almond. The thing is, this doesn’t convince me, and Poison Girl is my favorite; I think it achieves the almond combination much better. Pure Poison also seems better to me.

That’s the perfume someone wears who claims to be goth, but when you ask what they listen to, they tell you Taylor Swift.

In the heart of fall-winter 2025, I’m obsessed with this aroma of almonds bathed in exquisite vanilla. Just smelling it makes me smile from ear to ear. I don’t understand those who say it smells like plasticine or ‘old’; every nose is a world, but this is a modern masterpiece for any age. If I had to choose only five perfumes, this would be number one. At first, you have to let it macerate for the magic to work; my four-year-old bottle is a jewel. I wish I could smell the original version, I’d die of temptation. It’s my daily signature, simply incredible.

It smells like dessert; I didn’t like it at all.

My signature for a long time, combined with the lotion, it creates a reaction on the skin that lingers for hours. People never ask what I’m wearing, but they come closer and feel how the scent captures them. It’s not for shy people or discreet situations. I’m not going to discover how it evolves; every skin is a world. I don’t care if it’s been on the market for years, doesn’t seduction take even longer? Only once someone told me, half-angrily, ‘it looks like you’re carrying poison on your skin.’ I love it.

I didn’t test it directly on my skin, so maybe it’s not the same as on the atomizer box. But god… I felt so disappointed; I was looking for something sweet and all I found was a liquid smelling like smoke, something sour and even earthy. Note, maybe it’s due to sun exposure since it was a tester, or other factors. Maybe I’ll give it another chance.

I don’t know why, but this perfume reminds me of honeyed apples. I’ve always thought it smelled great, even though I was frustrated that it barely showed up on blotter paper until I instinctively tested it on my skin and BOOM! It amplified everything. It won my heart instantly and went straight to my wishlist. Scent: 10/10. Versatility: good for everyday winter wear, maybe a 5/10. Performance: 8/10. Overall: 9/10. Would I buy it? Yes, in 50ml, though the deals on the 100ml bottle are tempting me.

Ever since I read that it’s similar to Play-Doh, I don’t see it the same way anymore.

I stopped by a store and applied a little to my wrist. From the very first moment, I loved it: it’s elegant, youthful, and has a captivating touch of coconut. The caraway was very noticeable at first and gave it a special touch. It’s a sexy perfume, perfect for the night. The best part was that even after showering and more than 12 hours later, I could still smell it! In the end, it left a soft, elegant scent with vanilla and almonds that fascinated me. I’m going to buy it!

Honestly, who are you and what have you done with Dior? Come out from wherever you’re hiding because I’m coming for your jugular. WHY REFORMULATE LIKE THIS?? I understand there are interests with ingredients and the ‘synthesization’ of molecules, leading to an olfactory dehumanization. Cursed day I read that HPoison smells like Play-Doh. I had the memory of my post-adolescence with this intoxicating and sensual perfume, and I thought: to Play-Doh… wow, what a stroke of genius. I went to the perfumerie to restock the second bottle after eons without seeing it, since it went viral and even Blanco stores used its clone. No, thanks. A few years ago I restocked after the avalanche, thinking it would be the same. Ekisdé. Play-Doh :___) Synthetic and with zero of the orgasmic essence it had before. People are lucky they don’t have a refined nose, or pff, that their tastes swim in the synthetic… But my nose detects what’s not good. I’d almost lean towards the EDP over this. They are different perfumes, but the trail of the old EDT intoxicated you and now it’s pitiful. Like in a famous sketch: ‘But it’s the same thing’ – ‘mmm, but it’s not the same’. Play-Doh and 70 euros in the trash. Anyone want it?

Well, I bought this perfume blindly because everyone said if you like vanilla scents, it’s a safe bet. On one hand, I really like the scent; I love gourmands and this smells like a vanilla dessert with lots of liquor, super sweet. Now, I was a bit disappointed by its longevity and sillage. I expected a bomb, but the truth is, it leaves nothing of a trail, lasts several hours but feels very stuck to the skin. I think this is due to all the times it’s been reformulated. Probably because it’s an EDT they made it softer, and more so because they later launched the EDP version. For me, it’s a perfume that for this reason can be used any time of year (except summer).
