It’s the twin brother of Oud Touch by Franck Olivier, with about 85% similarity. A fantastic and intense aroma, perfect for autumn and the coldest seasons.

  • Oud Ispahan reminds me a lot of the classic Byzance by Rochas. In the 80s, my mom used Byzance; it smelled rich, elegant, and great in both heat and cold. I loved it so much that I’d go to her vanity, grab the bottle, and be amazed by that scent. Recently, someone gifted me a mini of Dior Oud Ispahan, and it brought back memories of that Byzance-like smell, my mom’s elegance, and the beauty of those years of my adolescence. It’s a gorgeous perfume that suits me perfectly, and since it’s oriental, it works well for both men and women.

  • Oud Ispahan is one of Dior’s best-sellers, the most oriental and daring in the collection. It opens with an intense rose, almost like rose water from mosques, accompanied by warm, sweet amber notes. At first, you barely notice the oud or the dark notes; the opening feels synthetic and overwhelming to me because of that sweet rose, though it varies depending on who wears it. Over time, the rose fades in intensity and the amber stops dominating, letting the oud, incense, and musk shine through. That middle stage is the best: a balance between the warmth of the rose and the darkness and rawness of the oud and musk. Imagine yourself in a Middle Eastern mosque: the air thick with wood and incense smoke, while the floor is soaked in rose water. Then the rose disappears, leaving a dark perfume with labdanum, oud, and a black, animalic musk. Here, the oud isn’t the absolute star because the incense and musk steal some of the spotlight. The longevity is brutal: 2 hours of rose and amber, 2 hours of balance, and another 10 hours of that dark, deep side. Best to test it on skin because on paper, you’ll only smell that incredible middle note without knowing how it evolves on you. The projection is strong for the first 4 hours.

I thought there would be more reviews on Oud Ispahan. It’s a unisex oud, kind of like ‘God Save the King’ but less powdery and more animalic. I still feel the rose is very present; it starts floral and by the end, you barely notice the oud. To me, it feels a step below Penhaligon’s Sohan in terms of rawness, but above Atkinsons. It lasts forever on me. My girlfriend loves it. If you find Oud Wood or God Save The King too light and want to step up the intensity, this is the next level.

  • It’s a blend of rose, oud, and resin that delivers on its promises. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me: at first, the rose is way too dominant and smells like grandma. Once it dries down, the oud takes over, but honestly, it doesn’t stand out compared to what’s available on the market now. It definitely has its audience, but it’s not for me.

Intense rose and unisex, with a woody, mysterious base. Lots of resin, very ambered, warm and velvety, powerful almost like incense. But the rose isn’t intimidated; it remains the absolute queen on her oud throne. Unbeatable.

  • AntaresAres

An intense, unisex rose, deeply woody and mysterious. I detect a very strong resinous scent, very ambered, warm, and velvety, with an almost incense-like potency. However, the rose isn’t intimidated and continues as the absolute queen of this fragrance, with a majestic presence on her oud throne. Unbeatable.

  • Oud Ispahan is one of Dior’s bestsellers, the most oriental and challenging in the collection. It opens with an intense rose, like mosque rose water, accompanied by warm, sweet amber notes. At first, you barely notice the oud or its darkness; the dry-down seems synthetic and overwhelming due to that sweet rose, but it can vary. Hours later, the rose loses strength and the amber fades, letting the oud, incense, and musk emerge. That middle point, where everything balances between the cozy rose and the dry oud, is the best: it smells like an oriental mosque with incense smoke and rose-drenched earth. Then the rose disappears, leaving a dark scent with galbanum, oud, and a black, animalic musk until the end. The oud stays a bit hidden behind the incense and musk. Longevity is enormous: 2 hours of rose and amber, another 2 hours of balance, and the next 10 hours the dark phase. Better to test on skin, because in a spray you only feel the incredible middle point, but you don’t know how it evolves on your skin. Considerable projection for the first 4 hours.

  • Oud Ispahan is one of Maison Christian Dior’s best-selling perfumes, being the most oriental and challenging in the collection. It opens with an intense rose that at times resembles rose water from mosques. This rose is accompanied by amber notes that add warmth and a touch of sweetness. In the dry-down, the oud and dark notes are barely distinguishable. Personally, I find the dry-down somewhat synthetic and overwhelming due to this sweet rose, though this can vary. After hours, you reach a middle ground where the rose loses intensity and the amber becomes less prominent, allowing the oud, frankincense, and musk to emerge. That balance between the warmth of the rose and the darkness of the oud is the best part. You feel like you’re in a Middle Eastern mosque with wood smoke and a floor soaked in rose water. In the end, the rose disappears, leaving a dark scent with labdanum, oud, and a black, animalic musk. The oud doesn’t stand out on its own because the frankincense and musk take the spotlight. Longevity is considerable: 2 hours of rose and amber, 2 hours of balance, and 10 hours of the dark phase. Best tested on skin, as that’s where it truly develops; on blotter, you’ll only catch the middle phase. Projection is considerable for the first 4 hours.

  • To me, this cologne smells very strong, very masculine; I don’t see any floral notes. It stuck to my skin and I couldn’t get it off. A resounding NO: heavy, suffocating, and cloying, a dark scent; I can’t find anything nice about it.

  • This cologne smells very, very strong and very masculine to me; I can’t detect any floral notes at all. Plus, it clung to my skin so much I couldn’t get it off. It’s a resounding NO: heavy, suffocating, and cloying, with a dark scent that I find nothing beautiful about.

  • When it arrived and I applied it to my skin, it reminded me of an ’80s perfume my mom used (due to its strong composition). A true perfume delight: spicy, rose, oud, and lots of saffron. Two sprays are enough; it won’t overwhelm you because its intensity and longevity are incredibly extraordinary.

  • When I applied it, it reminded me of an 80s perfume from my mother (due to its strength). A delight: spicy, rose, oud, and lots of saffron. Two sprays and that’s it; it doesn’t bother you because its intensity and longevity are incredible.

  • Stunning Bulgarian Rose blended with oud. Unisex, but leaning feminine. Elegant and long-lasting. Special.

  • I’ve only had it for a week, and it has pleasantly surprised me. A very good oud and a fine, elegant rose that reminds me of a rose bush. Acceptable price (40ml for €120). Longevity and projection are huge. 10/10.

Oud Ispahan (Ispahan is a city in Iran) presents a hard, medicinal, even slightly challenging oud in a traditional formula with roses that reveals it isn’t westernized at all. It’s a fragrance entirely oriental in character, 100% Asian, with the goal of transporting you and providing an experience, not just generating compliments. I absolutely love it, but I wouldn’t recommend it blindly. Unisex leaning masculine. The quality is out of this world and the development is exceptional. I’d love to own it, but the price is a bit prohibitive.

  • A powerhouse, and outside the official notes, it smells more masculine… all its notes even seem like the Tom Ford Noir line or Just Jack Arabe’s Black Tuxedo.

  • FranSeatJones.

My father gifted me this powerhouse this Christmas. He knows I adore the collection, and this one in particular. I hadn’t bought it due to my issue with saffron, which, though volatile, gets stuck in my brain and prevents me from smelling anything else. Well, Oud Ispahan is no exception. A beautiful rose, with intense and elegant wood, smeared with smoked saffron… gorgeous, but it’s not for me. It projects all day long and its longevity is nuclear. I’ll never use it; it’s not my style, no matter how gorgeous it is. If anyone wants a change, it’s unused; it’s the 40ml bottle… I’m all ears.

Powerful trail and longevity, for lovers of oud scents loaded with roses. Oud Ispahan is refreshing, cozy, and tells a real story of distant lands. Galbanum and patchouli are incredible boosts to give it power. Performance is excellent, tremendous in projection and longevity. I imagine its power could be polarizing for men and women. I think it should be reserved for cold climates and isn’t ideal if you don’t want to stand out.

  • The first time I tried it, I had a little ‘accident’—it ended up on my bed and overwhelmed me to the point of disgust. But over time, I gave it a second chance, and yes, it is a difficult oud; even people told me no, but this time I handled it better. It wasn’t very projecting at first, but based on comments I received hours later, I imagine people did notice it. The longevity exceeds 10 hours. When I left, I wanted to focus on the labdanum because it’s a note I struggle to catch and still can’t quite place, but the scent is primarily a dirty, animalic oud softened by rose.

  • I like this Dior oud. Generally, I don’t like oud perfumes, but this one is different. The opening is strong, but over time it settles into a very elegant rose; I’d say it becomes somewhat more feminine, yet perfectly wearable for a man. I don’t detect patchouli, but I do sense some labdanum; what stands out most to me is the oud and rose. It projects well and has great longevity. I see it as a bit more feminine due to the rose, but very usable for a man. I’d say it’s better suited for cold weather.
