Descripción
The Secret Absolu by Antonio Banderas is an oriental fragrance for men, launched in 2024. This creation, signed by Honorine Blanc and Ilias Ermenidis, unfolds a fragrance pyramid where the top notes combine the freshness of green apple, cardamom, ginger, and bergamot. The heart of the composition is enriched with lavender, saffron, and violet leaves, while the base reveals a warm and enveloping blend of amber, cognac, suede, and labdanum.

I bought it blindly just 3 days after it launched in Argentina, and the first time I used it was a disappointment. I spoke badly of this perfume, but I have to correct myself: it’s a damn great fragrance. The first sprays smelled like a bad, very cheap mix; it’s economical, yes, but it smelled like Kevin or supermarket perfumes. Three days passed, and when I used it again, I must say it’s an exquisite fragrance. It’s a spicy, boozy amber scent with an old-school style but a modern and sweet twist, really very pleasant. It’s linear: the opening smells like pure alcohol, but when it dries down, wow, a delight. The first time it lasted approx 3 hours on skin, by the third time it was gone. Today it lasted close to 10 hours, with the last ones barely there but noticeable. Regarding projection, I didn’t measure it with friends, but I assure you it’s not one of those beasts that hits you with blasts; but it’s there. I’d like to update this over time so it matures and lives in all its glory. Compared to its siblings “The Secret”, I consider them sweeter, maybe more party-oriented, but this one has more class; a bit more elegant, with that sweet twist that makes it versatile for mid-season and not-too-cold winters. It’s not the typical party or club perfume, but if you give it that occasional use, it looks great if you know how to wear it. Value for money: 10/10. I dare to say it holds its own and beats many commercial triple A perfumes, full of reformulations that become watery and last 4 hours at three times the price of this Antonio Banderas. Blind buy? Yes, totally. If you’re 20+ and want a perfume for meetings or elegant occasions, but still have a rich and pleasing imprint, it fits like a glove. If you like having a stylish and classy image, regardless of your age range, I’d say it’s perfect for a mid-season signature scent. In my case, I’ll use it a lot in that context. Sorry for speaking badly of you, Secret Absolu. In just 3 days, you shut my mouth.
I agree with everyone else; it’s nothing surprising, but if you’re looking for something sweet and cheap for everyday wear, this is perfect. I’ve had bad experiences with longevity and projection (maybe my pH is off), but this surprised me by lasting over 8 hours, though the projection isn’t strong since my friends don’t really notice it. Still, it’s ideal for school or college during cooler months: it lasts all day without bothering anyone. The scent is easy to like, and I don’t think anyone would dislike it.
Honestly, it doesn’t surprise at all, however, it’s very well considering its price, and beyond being average, it’s well-executed. There are fragrances from the same house that are more synthetic and less lasting. It’s not an ultra-sweet cloying fragrance, though it reminds me a bit of the sweetness of Rabanne. Anyway, give it a try. If you’re missing something sweet at a low cost, this Absolu has what it takes. If you already have something in that profile, it might turn out to be insignificant.
I agree with the others! It’s not surprising at all, but if you’re missing something sweet and cheap for daily wear, this is perfect. I’ve had bad experiences with perfumes regarding longevity/projection (maybe I have the wrong pH), but this surprised me with its longevity (+8 hours), although not so much with its projection since my friends don’t notice it when I ask them. Anyway, it’s good for school/university in non-very-hot seasons, where it will last all day without bothering anyone. As for the scent, it’s easy to like and I don’t think anyone will dislike it.
It’s a perfume that, at least in my opinion, feels like they were aiming for something like 9 PM or Ultra Male not in terms of scent but in style. It smells great and youthful, like a fruity caramel (apple). For the first 20 minutes, it keeps that fruity caramel tone, then leather appears and it turns into a Fruity Accord. As for performance, it’s really low: 4-5 hours on skin, one hour of projection, and a weak trail (almost non-existent). In short, a great perfume for cold nights but with terrible performance.
Don’t buy blindly because it has a particular scent for me that has nothing to do with The Secret or The Secret Golden; it has a quite unpleasant citrus note, and at times it reminded me of some Zara perfume. Anyway, I’m a fan of A.B perfumes, but this one didn’t work for me.
I tried it yesterday and found a lot of similarity to Lacoste Blanc or something blue due to the undeclared citrus, suede, freshness, and those metallic notes; nothing like what I expected, more like Essencial Elixir or Bentley For Men. For fall-winter and dates, The Icon EDP is my top pick, but I recommend Natura EE, CH Men Privé, and Bentley For Men EDT even more over the Intense. Longevity and projection are average, nothing extraordinary. Even the Avon Segno Blue should be heavier and have similar ingredient quality.
I tried several from the line, and only this one and the Icon Elixir really stuck with me. The longevity seems acceptable for the price, but it’s not worth buying. I recommend testing it before spending, though to be honest, I’d suggest looking at other options for cold days.
I bought it knowing it smells great fresh out of the bottle and dries down well, but it’s super subtle and fades in no time; you have to reapply constantly. In my opinion, it didn’t convince me at all from the line; it’s the worst one.
