  • I tried it by accident—my boyfriend’s mom wears it. I never thought perfumes had an age, but Diavolo exudes elegance and a strong personality with an interesting opening. It’s not for just any woman.

  • I used to wear it a lot in college a few years ago; it was the one that defined me most, and I absolutely loved it. Great price and lasts forever. I don’t know if there’s anything similar on the market because I definitely miss it.

  • I used to wear this a lot back in college a few years ago; it was the one that truly represented me, and I absolutely loved it. It has an excellent price and lasts forever. I’m not sure if there’s anything similar on the market now because I definitely miss it.

  • My mom got this in 2008 and it didn’t work for her since she prefers florals and doesn’t like sweet or woody scents. When I was 16, I absolutely loved it and felt like a goddess; everyone complimented me. Over time, I noticed that almost all my perfumes have a touch of Diavolo. I’m obsessed with the blend of cinnamon, vanilla, sandalwood, and jasmine, and I’m desperately searching for a dupe or inspiration. The longevity and sillage were insane; it lingered on my clothes even after washing.

Diavolo by Antonio Banderas is a spicy oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 1997, this composition was created by Rosendo Mateu and Alain Muraour. The top notes of mandarin, bergamot, and green leaves unfold a vibrant character; the heart reveals pepper, geranium, and patchouli; while the base settles on leather, musk, and sandalwood.

  • Diavolo is pure charismatic masculinity with a strong presence. It starts fresh with vibrant, pleasant citrus notes, then explodes into a spicy heart of pepper and cinnamon that gives it tons of personality. As it dries down, it leaves a warm base of woods, leather, and musk, making it elegant, seductive, and incredibly enveloping. It has a classic, refined style that reminds me a bit of Dior’s Fahrenheit. It’s a fragrance with a lot of character, attractive and memorable. Perfect for going out or when you want something masculine, confident, and impactful. It’s a huge hit and leaves a great impression.

  • Alejandro del oeste

The first perfume my mom gave me when I was a teenager. It’s hard to be objective, but I believe this was the first Antonio Banderas fragrance released in Argentina, and honestly, the price-to-quality ratio is excellent. It’s super long-lasting, perfect for a casual night out.

  • Biased review… A fragrance I used at 13 and now I smell it again at 29 and I cry with emotion… it’s beautiful, I wouldn’t change a thing… objectively it’s a bit dated, but not too much; it’s like Quorum but modernized. I also detect something of Spicebomb EDT (which I love) but without the cinnamon… it’s a gorgeous fragrance, very similar to Fahrenheit but 10 times cheaper… an absolute beauty.

  • SebastiánXV

What a pity with this perfume. The scent itself is still exquisite to me; it reminds me of the dry-down of Fahrenheit. It’s very cheap; here in Argentina I got it for about $19 in three installments. But it doesn’t work for me: even though it’s cheap and smells great, if it projects nothing and lasts only 2 to 3 hours clinging to the skin, it’s useless. What a shame; I’d only buy it again to smell it myself when I’m alone because I love it, but I don’t recommend it—the performance is terrible.

  • Diego Bronson

An all-rounder, for a clean and masculine scent, though without any interesting or seductive factors.

  • My first perfume; I used it roughly between ages 13 and 16. It was my signature for a long time, but I stopped wearing it because everyone said it just smelled like antibacterial gel. I don’t recommend it anymore.

  • EnriqueSeguraJ

My first perfume; I wore it at school… you’ll see if it reminds you of the grandfather or the dad. A $20 fragrance in my country. Pepper, leather—not excessive or overpowering… I love it, it brings back memories, and it’s very masculine, something like Sauvage Elixir but without prominent citrus or nutmeg… I’m not saying it’s similar, but that potent pepper line fits under the same vibe, and to me, it’s incredible. I wouldn’t pay more than $20 for it. And it’s not for people who dislike pepper or very masculine, 90s-style scents.

  • This review is biased by personal taste; first, I’ll share my opinion, and my objective recommendations come at the end. I’ve always liked the perfumes my dad wore, no matter how typical they were (212, Diavolo, Season One); I share the desire to wear them because of the memories of him, and among those few is this one. This fragrance, as far as I’ve read, usually aims for a classic daily/winter smell; I used it for school or with my partner (who likes this type of masculine fragrance) and it lasted quite a while (4-6 hours), which encouraged me to use it more. That’s why, even though I haven’t had it in a long time, I’d consider buying a similar one. My recommendation for those without my bias: consider it only if you want something fresh and classic from the ‘Hombre’ line that catches your eye due to its price, which is quite good for this type of perfume. I don’t play by any age standards; they’re just metaphors and labels. Use it if you like it.

  • I’d describe it as a daily wear fragrance… it lasts about 4 hours. The first 2 hours you feel like you’re talking to another person, and it’s pleasant enough to buy again every time it runs out so you always have it there…

  • I don’t know who can relate Zara Vibrant Leather Oud with Banderas’ Diavolo. They have nothing to do with each other.

  • CesarMendezg

They say there are classics that never go out of style, but this one definitely has. It smells like your dad’s cologne from the 90s. It’s like an evolution of the Flaño aftershave: a sweet-bitter, aged citrus with no spark, some spicy pepper (the only redeeming note), and that potent vintage patchouli found in grandpa’s perfumes (maybe what ruins the whole fragrance), plus a leather note screaming for the patchouli to be removed. Don’t buy it or gift it, but since it has such a history, Banderas could make a modernized flanker to revive the name; in the end, this fossil is still everywhere in cheap perfumeries. What would I change? Add more juice to those citrus notes, cut down on the green leafiness, and add mint to make it fresher and livelier. Reduce the patchouli by three levels or replace it entirely with a floral note like lavender to complement the main accord of spicy pepper, leather, and musk without drowning it out. If balanced well, it could be an excellent alternative for casual use, especially at this price point.

  • While testing fragrances at the Antonio Banderas stand, I stumbled upon this by accident, a scent I’d never seen before. Honestly, the bottle didn’t impress me at all, but upon spraying it, I felt it was very fresh, original, interesting, and distinct from what’s currently trending in men’s perfumery, where everyone is going for Arab scents and ‘beast modes.’ I didn’t know until recently (after reading all the reviews) the great history behind this perfume. It seems like a very good option for daily wear or short outings; in my opinion, it’s the definition of a ‘body splash’ for men: something you can use without overwhelming anyone, applicable in quantity for its low price, and generally pleasant. Citrus touches, but the base with leather and patchouli notes anchors the fragrance and gives it its masculine character.

  • AgusPieri198

This is how I imagine men smelled in the 90s: a strong scent of citrus mandarin and acidic bergamot, with a pepper that tickles your nose and a leather base! A very masculine aroma that can be smelled today, moving away from modern trends. Low performance of 4-5 hours on skin with a soft projection in a personal bubble, I’d say.

  • naso_en_ciernes

It highlights everything wrong with that great perfumery masterpiece, Fahrenheit. Poor performance, watery, a hint of alcohol. It’s the antithesis of that one; it almost seems created on purpose to be this way… I don’t understand. It has the work of a very good perfumer, but I think it’s a failed scent. Maybe they tried to take inspiration from that Dior but make it more accessible to the mass market. It’s a bad homage to the Almairac scent. I don’t recommend it, despite its low price; it smells like a cologne water (with due respect to Eau de Cologne, which have a great aroma).

  • There’s something about it that repels me, a bad quality; it smells like an older person. My boyfriend wears it, and I can’t stand it.

  • A masculine aroma, not for youth, nor for the elderly. With a hint of elegance, though not formal. The image is a young man dressed in a leather jacket and a pristine white t-shirt on a sunny autumn afternoon in 1996. It smells clean, like leather, and somewhat herbal. Like almost all AB fragrances, it doesn’t project much or last long, but since it’s very cheap—the cheapest in the line—that compensates for that detail in part. It’s not a good blind buy, but for the price and personality, it’s a pleasant fragrance to own.

  • mauriciomferrari

A clone of Dior Fahrenheit, perhaps a bit softer and more citrusy; not for the ‘glass generation.’ This is the best of everything Antonio Banderas has.

  • It’s not a bad fragrance, but it seems a bit old-fashioned (90s vibe); I see some similarities to Zara’s Vibrant Leather Oud.

  • I tried it before and now that I’m using it again, I finally get why I threw it away. Leather? Not even in a dream, and if it’s there, it’s undetectable. 6 hours of longevity and 1 hour of projection. Rating: 5.0/10

  • eduyelpollo

It doesn’t work for me! I bought it blindly because of the price (I’ve used other Banderas before with acceptable results). As someone said, it smells like the 80s, almost sweet like a women’s perfume… very vintage! Everyone likes it differently, and it can even smell different on different skin.

  • Not even a shadow of what it was in the early 2000s. The scent is almost the same, but the performance is worthy of a room freshener. I keep it only for nostalgia because it reminds me of someone; otherwise, I would have given it away.

  • Smells like fried food with lemon; it reminds me of a time I ate french fries at an Indian restaurant.

  • Luis Manuel howley

One of my first perfumes; just seeing it transports me back to that era where wearing it brought me crazy compliments, a tremendous fragrance, I love it.

  • carlosparfum

I wore it when I first got it and it lasted a long time. I saw it recently and the scent just came to mind. I bought the 50ml version and there are differences: less projection and longevity, but the smell is the same, it brought back good memories. It smells like 80s and 90s perfumes, green with pepper and a vintage leather note. Is it bad? Depends on taste. Is it good? Also depends. But, what more can you ask for if you pay about $10 for 50ml (8,990 pesos in Chile)? Colors for everyone, but for the price, I think it beats more expensive fragrances. Don’t buy blindly; if you have the chance, try it first.

  • molinaperfume

I bought a tester for eight euros from 2014; for this price, what more can you ask for? A decent Eau de Cologne version of Fahrenheit.

  • Cristian Pintos

I don’t understand how Zara Vibrant Leather Oud is considered legendary, while this Diavolo—which, despite its lower performance, is still better than that one—is so overrated. For me, they are very similar. Edit: Clean and citrusy scent, with leather when dry. I wear it in summer and it weighs nothing despite the leather; it feels fresh and when dry, it’s ideal for semi-formal or formal wear. Performance on very dry skin: still noticeable at a short distance on clothes after 6 hours (incredible, despite its reputation).

  • One of Antonio Banderas’s best fragrances. At first, it smelled like Dior’s Fahrenheit, but since it’s a luxury item here, I kept buying it. Now, after reformulation, it smells more like aftershave, though extra sprays help extend the longevity. It brings back good memories and, for the price, it’s worth it.

  • I bought the 200ml bottle without testing it and ended up hating it: it’s strong, very 80s, and just didn’t work for me at 25. It’s better suited for vintage lovers or people over 40. People say it doesn’t last, but it stuck to me all day with that old leather scent that wouldn’t fade. Never again, though other Banderas scents from the last two years, the fresher ones, are actually good.

  • Franco Aquino

A hit in scent and price, but it fails on longevity, projection, and sillage. With 10 or 11 sprays, it barely lasts half an hour in the air and three hours on the skin, and my skin isn’t dry. I recommend it for short outings, casual wear, enclosed spaces, or mild autumn and spring weather.

  • Not for anyone under 60. It just smells like rancid, old leather. Plus, it doesn’t project much, but if it did, it would give you a headache.

  • emporioblanko

Use it as a cologne: it smells good, but it’s a simple perfume. It’s meant for occasional, casual daily wear, not everyday use. As for the price, I think it’s excessive; it shouldn’t cost more than 6 euros.

  • zmjuanpablo

I like the scent quite a bit, but it lasts very little. That said, it’s cheap.

  • Eduardo1978

By testing and wearing them, I managed to combine Banderas’s Diavolo with this Zara; the result is explosive. First, spray Zara on your neck, and after five minutes, Diavolo sets the Zara on fire.

  • Mr. Baskerville

I liked it. It’s not a fragrance that’s going to blow your mind, but it’s good. The opening didn’t convince me: an acidic, citrusy, and sharp mix where the green notes are an indeterminate mess that doesn’t blend well. The development is the interesting part: the leather comes in softly with floral notes and a very well-executed patchouli. The pepper, if it’s there, is more noticeable at the start, with a spicy touch. The leather is wearable, nothing wild, aromatic, and without harsh edges, very well supported by the musk. It turned out ideal for mild or warm evening/night climates. A great complement for relaxed yet sensual moments, where the gift is yourself.
