Armani Code Eau de Parfum by Giorgio Armani

I’ve always said it and I stand by it: this perfume is the modern Le Male, perfectly suited to have been Le Male Le Parfum.

A fragrance for mild or cold days; on my dry skin, vanilla, lavender, tonka bean, musk, and leather stand out. It’s incredibly addictive, miles better than the new Armani Code Parfum—at least in Mexico, it’s not as easy to find there anymore (I don’t know if it’s discontinued). It’s linear but smells great, ideal for formal occasions or dates, with moderate projection and a low sillage; it lasts about 7 to 8 hours.

Here’s the easy summary: it’s the same as the EDT, but without the fresh bergamot or the current mandarin part. Then it settles with a very creamy vanilla mixed with tonka and spices, so upon drying, the anise, pepper, etc., become even more prominent. Because of its more marked spicy scent, I think it’s better suited for someone older; I don’t recommend it blindly for anyone under 25/30. It’s better to go for the EDT. Lasts about 5/6 hours, with moderate to low projection and sillage. It’s a fragrance to shine in dates and intimate situations, all year round but leaning more towards nighttime.

I had the EDT when it launched and it passed through my collection without making much of an impression. About two years ago, they sent me a 5ml vial and honestly, it drove me crazy. It has a magnetic composition, hard to describe; the note combination is masterful. A super sexy, masculine, and yet modern aroma, with a very well-executed blend of fresh, sweet, and subtle suede notes. Very versatile in terms of occasions: formal, semi-formal, informal, but this is amplified at night, especially for outings and dates due to its highly seductive profile. It was very difficult and somewhat expensive to get since it’s discontinued, but it’s worth every penny. One of the most prized items on the shelf without a doubt.

It’s a fragrance I really like, similar to the EDT and a bit less like the Profumo, but more elegant and mature. A very rich, masculine, chic, and fresh scent. The opening is fresh with lavender, followed by a pleasant sweetness (tonka and vanilla) that stays fixed with anise and a very soft leather. The longevity is moderate; in my case, it varies between 5 and 8 hours. Its projection is modest, inviting people to come closer to you. A safe bet for dates and cold nights.

I tested it and immediately swapped it for a catalog version. At first, it felt hyper-synthetic, plastic, and even unbearable. The drydown is nice, but it doesn’t stick with me. I own the Absolu, the Profumo, the new Parfum, and the Eau de Toilette, and let me tell you? Absolu takes the crown. That one is truly glorious and spectacular.

Spectacular. Without even trying the Sport, this is the best Armani Code of all, surpassing the Profumo and the Absolu which I have actually tried. It opens with a citrus note reminiscent of the original from back in the day, but quickly turns deep with significant weight as the suede emerges. I see it as very elegant, masculine, and perfect for dressing up. It also works for winter, autumn, and early spring, but nothing beyond that. It has incredible longevity; on my skin, a single spray lasts almost 24 hours, and I can still smell it right up against my skin afterward, so you have to be careful with the atomizer, which is a huge plus. It’s one of the most positively reviewed perfumes on Fragrantica. The first comment by a user named ‘Svázquez7’ saying ‘it must be…’ made me laugh—that is, they haven’t even tried it, yet there’s always a joker who leaves a review without properly testing it.

Within the Code line, it doesn’t bring anything new; it’s a combination of notes already used in previous versions. That doesn’t mean it’s not very good. I’ve tested it a couple of times, but this one and the CODE A List are the only ones I haven’t bought yet. This EDP builds upon the EDT, but if there’s one in the line that resembles it most, it’s the CODE ULTIMATE, which is an EDT intense with similar performance. If you’re a collector, you’ll want it; if you don’t own any Code, it’s a solid option.

ARMANI CODE EAU DE PARFUM: For those who have the Armani Code EDT, you should know that this version is the luxury one, whereas the EDT is the austere one. The Eau de Parfum retains the DNA of the aforementioned EDT, but it’s nothing alike. This one is rounder, more complete, abundant, attractive, and radiant. The EDT has absolutely nothing to do here. This is a sexy, nocturnal, and striking fragrance. I insist, while it keeps the DNA of the EDT, it’s with much more aroma, since the vanilla gives it what its mother fragrance was so lacking in. If you don’t have the Armani Code yet, don’t hesitate and go for this one. It will always be a hit at night, whether for dates or clubbing; you’ll look great. Scent: 9. Projection: Average. Longevity: 8 hours. Recommended.

I picked up a 30ml bottle today because I found it on sale. It opens citrusy and powdery, then quickly shifts to a vanilla-scented aroma with suede that gives it a powdery appearance. I’m not a fan of the Codes, but my girlfriend and friends love them; it never fails. Low projection with good longevity. What I must say is that women absolutely adore it: it’s a winner, mysterious, a bit sweet, and a bit dark.

Armani Code EDP smells like vanilla and musk with a floral touch. It starts citrusy and spicy, reminiscent of the original but sweeter. Lavender quickly emerges, musky, aromatic, with vanilla notes, a hint of chocolate, wood, and a bit of leather. Not much changes after that; the scent is rich, attractive, and sensual, reminding me of Le Male Le Parfum. It’s ideal for dates or cold weather, perfect for autumn and winter. Everyone seems to like it because it’s sweet. It lasted about 10 hours on me with average projection. I love it because it’s so similar to Le Male Le Parfum, which I also adore, but that’s a problem right now because I’m not sure if I want two such similar fragrances. Once I finish my Jean Paul Gaultier, this will be my safe bet. If I have to choose an Armani Code, it will be this one.

It’s basically the EDT with more lavender and a slightly sweeter touch from the vanilla. It has a wonderful dry-down. Edit: they’ve already discontinued it; it’s my husband’s favorite of all his fragrances. Unfortunately, he bought it in a small bottle, so now I’m thinking of asking for one for myself 😳. That dry-down is the best part 🤤.

Imagine Harvey Specter walking into a room; well, this smells like that. It’s for wearing with a suit and tie, with a winning air. It’s elegant, very elegant. It doesn’t have a deep sillage, just like a gentleman wouldn’t, because it’s not for a club kid. It’s delicate but persistent. You can wear it 365 days a year, in all seasons, cold or hot, day or night, because what defines its use is your outfit. It doesn’t go with shorts and Hawaiian shirts, which is why it’s not as versatile. I think it’s for men who dress formally or for special occasions. It’s the counterpart to Armani Stronger With You Absolute (which I tried), sweeter and louder, like a teenager trying to get attention. It lasts a long time and stays there, 30 cm away, dispensing class. It’s not that you choose this fragrance, but that this fragrance chooses you… you’re on the right path if you catch sight of the cufflinks while looking for it.

Since it’s very similar to the original, there’s something I like more (if the original were what it used to be, maybe it wouldn’t be like this), even seeing it as more versatile, quite all-rounder; in summer, I’d relegate it to nights and not all day. Very good longevity and sillage considering current trends. It generates compliments, people really like it, and we could almost put it in the necktie perfume category, and let me tell you I’m not particularly addicted to the ‘Code’ line, but to Caesar what is Caesar’s (it’s a hit on the street).

The original Armani Code EDT is one of my all-time favorites. Reformulated to the point of no return, with extremely scarce longevity. So this new launch made me happy. What do we have in this new Code EDP? The essence of the classic but modernized. It’s like taking the original, Profumo, and Absolu, and this Code EDP comes out. The opening is marked by lavender and citrus, giving way immediately to tonka. It’s softer than the latest Code flankers, less cloying, though still sweet. Maybe it’s redundant, but it’s a good alternative if you want a fragrance for autumn/winter or dates. Longevity? Between 7-8 hours. Compliments guaranteed. As for age, I see it as suitable for 25 and up without issues. If you find it at a good price and don’t have any of the Code flankers, I totally recommend it.
