212 Sexy Men by Carolina Herrera is an oriental fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2006, this composition was created by Alberto Morillas and Rosendo Mateu. • Smells good, but it doesn’t last long. Worth buying something else, my girlfriend absolutely loves it.

  • Andrés leon

It has a very distinctive aroma, don’t buy it without trying. Best for ages 25 to 40. It’s for cold days; I think on a hot day it would suffocate girls. It’s not a common scent, not something to use every day.

  • Alexander86

They say it smells like sweat; I wish all sweat smelled like this, it would save us from covering our noses with bad odors. A perfume with sweet but not cloying vanilla; the dry-down is the best part.

A gift from my wife when we were dating, over 12 years ago. At the time, it was her favorite fragrance because of the vanilla, sweet, and spicy cardamom and pepper notes. She used it a lot for intimacy and still loves it today. I have my second 50ml bottle that she gave me again. I feel it’s more of a night or evening scent, and best for cold weather, up to early spring. I really like it.

  • Hi friends, in 2023 this perfume caught my attention, so I went to try it at a chain store in Colombia. It bothered me that they claimed it smelled like armpit sweat, so I decided to check it out. Darn! It does smell like armpits to me, haha. I don’t know why it smells that way, but they’re right: it smells like sweat. I don’t recommend it!

La 212 Sexy Men is marvelous: citrus notes, vanilla, and above all, pepper. I can smell it all day; it has a slow dry-down. Citrus opening, spicy heart, and vanilla base. On me, it has excellent performance and reminds me of a special time in my life, which is probably why it’s one of my favorites. The salesperson told me it was discontinued, so I grabbed the last 50ml bottle. Would I buy it again? Absolutely.

I bought it a few weeks ago and everyone I’ve let smell it has loved it, for real. The projection is medium-low; it mostly creates a bubble and lasts about 6 or 7 hours on my skin. After that, almost nothing. For the price, it’s great. It opens explosive and citrusy, then dries down to vanilla with a powdery touch. I got tons of awkward compliments like ‘I love it’ from my friends’ partners. PS: (no offense) Who says it smells like sweat? What’s wrong with your noses? Either they’re hyping up an underrated fragrance, or they couldn’t afford it (which is rare, it’s not expensive). Cheers.

  • Gentil vagabond

Basic and generic, I even gave it away… it smells very similar to Armani Code 2011. The scent is invasive and suffocating.

  • AlexAlvarez

I even created an account just to defend this perfume because I was indignant by the comments. My brother owns it and it’s a gorgeous fragrance. I’ve never noticed a sweaty scent, but I do get a very faint note of pencil shavings, like when you sharpen a pencil and smell that. My mom thought it smelled of cumin, but very lightly. I hate cumin, and if it were strong, I’d hate it, but here the powdery and vanilla notes stand out more. The woody note that sounds like cumin doesn’t bother me. On the skin, I feel it’s unisex. Nothing like sweat.

  • zantiago31

This was my party perfume! Ugh, what power it had back in 2006… I have so many bottles I haven’t tried again, but this was definitely one of my favorites.

  • For me, it’s different from the others. A sweet scent (but not too much) due to the vanilla, something different from what they’ve gotten me used to, since I usually don’t like vanilla because I get tired of it quickly, but this one is different and seems exquisite to me. I have to say that I do notice that sweat smell, but it’s not the typical rancid kind; it’s another type and it doesn’t bother me. A different scent that many like.

  • For those who don’t understand notes or whose sense of smell isn’t very developed, this perfume carries the cumin note (not declared, could be a blend) that gives it that resemblance to a sweaty odor.

  • After searching for it unsuccessfully for a while (it’s been discontinued for years), I finally found it for 35€/100ml. I had already smelled it at a duty-free in Lisbon and fell in love, honestly. For me, it’s totally unisex; I perceive it as a very clean, delicate, fresh, and youthful white floral. Ideal for the office or for going out during the day for a drink. It doesn’t have beastly projection or longevity, but the scent deserves it. I don’t know why people say it smells like sweat… if this smells like sweat, it must be the sweat of a god… 🥲

  • FedericoAlexisB

Very similar to Le Male, though they add pepper and a very subtle floral touch. It has a faint sweat smell, the famous myth; it’s pleasant even so, but I thought it would be richer… I don’t recommend buying it blindly, at least in Argentina where it’s ridiculously expensive; better to get a decant, which is what I did. I give it a 6; it doesn’t smell bad, but I reiterate, I was disappointed by the hype. Nothing new; I’d just say it’s spicy vanilla with a floral touch, wood, and a slight sweat note.

  • I love it; it was my first fragrance and brings back lovely memories. Ideal for dates, charming and seductive as the name implies. A unique scent that I’m going to always wear.

  • Ivanovactri

It’s my favorite perfume 😍 it’s not common, nor will everyone wear it. It’s elegant, original, masculine, divine. I read that it smells like sweat; I wish so, may those who smell like sweat smell like this, haha. I simply love it; my husband gets tons of compliments from both women and men. It has great longevity and sillage; it lingers on clothes for a long time. For me, it’s the best of perfumes.

  • One of my favorites. For outings, parties, dates, etc., it’s top tier. It shares DNA with several fragrances in this style, but Sexy Man stands out for that spicy note (maybe cumin) that many claim smells like sweat. By the way, I’ve asked many people, and no one smells sweat… it must be a terrible pH on some folks. It shares the base of 212 NYC but very subtly in the background; they aren’t the same. You can detect the vanilla and the spice. Longevity of 8h+ and good projection for about 5h.

212 SEXY MAN CAROLINA HERRERA: They say it brings nothing new, and they’re right, since it launched in 2006, almost two decades ago. It’s discontinued now, though you might still find it with luck. I used it again, and it fits the line of current classics like Armani Profumo, Le Male, Britto Man, or Jacomo. It’s a party scent, something to wear out on the town. The bold, strong vanilla of Sexy, the robust and virile woods, and the powdery touch that rounds out its charm. It’s striking, magical, and keeps its distance while still recalling others. Personally, I like it; my wife likes it more than I do; it seems the name identifies its purpose. It’s versatile, but incredible for dates. It doesn’t surprise, but it captivates the senses and achieves its goal. A bit nostalgic; you receive it with a smile upon smelling it. Scent: 9.0. Projection: moderate for 2 hours. Longevity: 6 to 7 hours max. Recommended.

  • When I met my husband, he had this scent. I fell in love instantly. When I went home, I couldn’t stop smelling that aroma lingering in his goodbye hug; it hypnotized me…

  • RicardoPowa123

What the sexiest perfume? 😍🤌 Someone ‘smart’ claimed it smells like sweat, and then a bunch of idiots (YouTube addicts) started repeating the rumor.

  • Consortium2025

I regret being a party water; I’m holding it right now and it smells weird. Indeed, it smells like sexy vanilla sweat, I’m sorry. I don’t recommend it blindly.

  • A very subtle and understated fragrance, quite masculine. I’ve received tons of compliments wearing it 😎.

  • Bernardo88

I bought it on impulse because I already had the regular 212 and liked the bottle and the ads. It’s a mix of sweat and candy pills. At first, I hated it, and my wife despises it, saying it’s the ugliest perfume I own. I actually like it more after 2 or 3 hours, when it settles on the skin—it becomes more vanilla-scented but not overly sweet. I admit it doesn’t smell like anything else. I still have almost a full bottle.

  • pipeshlb

This was my first Carolina Herrera fragrance; I bought it again in 2025 to relive some memories. It’s good, but I felt it was better before. Very masculine, woody, and vanilla-scented, though not too sweet. It reminds me of ‘Le Male EDT’ and ‘One Million’. I do recommend it, but there are better options on the market and within the same line. I’d suggest trying it first since it’s discontinued, but I have no regrets buying it then or now.

  • nneestorr

They took the old Armani Code and swapped the leather for woods and vanilla. It’s very similar to the Code EDP (the original version) that came out shortly after.

  • Want to know what 212 Sexy smells like? Go to the gym wearing a vanilla perfume, train until you drop, and then smell your sweaty skin. That’s what 212 Sexy smells like.

  • If someone tells me it smells good, honestly, it smells like baby powder. I gave it to my little cousin. It has a ‘sweaty’ note, but I prefer baby powder and florals. It’s not a rich scent, it’s not bad, but that’s all. 5.5/10.

  • valen perfums

212 was my first perfume, and nowadays I’m not a huge fan. To me, it feels a bit feminine; it’s warm, enveloping, and sweet with a spicy touch. Perfect for cold weather or fall/winter. It has good longevity and moderate sillage, ideal for special occasions without being overwhelming. It’s not bad, but there are better options for the price.

  • Carlo Mendez

I love it; it’s addictive and evokes real sensations. It’s not spectacular or original, but it has a special masculine charm that justifies the name ‘Sexy Men’. A great fragrance with its own personality.

  • Pfff!!! Honestly, among all the sexy fragrances I own, in my opinion, this one is very VINTAGE, smelling of BABY POWDER, SWEAT, and WOODS… Every time I apply it, it reminds me of my grandfather, who used a similar perfume back in his day… As for ‘sexy’… Well… I don’t see anything. To me, it’s just another perfume in the bunch.

  • metroidsoldier

I smell pure wood, flowers, sweat, sweat, and more sweat with a baby powder scent. There are better 212s out there.

  • A total disappointment; there are better options. I don’t recommend it; 212 VIP Black EDP is better.

  • blvck-w-wilson

This version is the apple of discord among the 212s, but honestly, I thought it smelled great. I understand the ‘SEXY’ thing, and I consider that if it’s sexy, it’s because that touch people call ‘sweat’ (totally understandable) from my perspective feels sexual. So for picking up someone, I see it as a skill. My big issue with this 212 is that it causes olfactory fatigue in me. I barely perceive it after an hour. I know it’s not a nuclear bomb, but seriously, every time I use it, I don’t smell it at all. Something that has never happened to me with other 212s like the classic or VIP Black. In conclusion, it smells good, not too friendly for hot daytime weather, but I feel it’s versatile for everyday use. For picking someone up, I see it as a trump card if you’re already at a point of friction, extreme closeness, because it truly has a very sexual vibe, but I don’t think it works the same way everywhere. Since it’s a love-it-or-hate-it fragrance for many, I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly. Once I finish this bottle, I won’t buy it again. There are many superior CH fragrances in every sense.

  • Simón De buveur

It’s a controversial fragrance. I don’t think it smells like sweat, but rather musk and wild tangerine, with little transformation. It does the job but isn’t anything extraordinary. It won’t bring compliments. It’s very versatile, but I’d use it for informal occasions or daily wear, treating it as just another perfume. I wouldn’t buy it again, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

  • I’m sure a microbus air freshener smells like this. It’s very dated, and after a while, it becomes tiring. It lasts about 5 hours and projects moderately well. It’s too expensive for what it is, medium quality; I only detect vanilla and something warm with wood. It’s not potent enough for parties or extreme cold. I don’t recommend it; it’s too generic. 5/10.

  • Maybe I’m just nostalgic, since it was my school perfume along with CK One back in the day when my parents were the only ones buying it. For many, 212 Sexy is the least loved in the line because it’s different, overwhelming, and saturates the nose with a ‘sweaty’ scent. To me, though, it’s a gem by Alberto Morillas and Rosendo Mateu, discontinued and rarely used today. It captures the spirit of both: Mateu’s sweetness and Morillas’ elegance. The opening is a sensual, powdery cardamom that dominates until vanilla takes over almost completely. Within that vanilla, there are nuances that strip away the glossy, cloying feel, replacing it with a dark, woody character thanks to the vetiver and sandalwood, which give it a slight balsamic touch; the pepper just orbits that base to add more depth. Without even looking at the notes, it smells like soft suede gloves where you’ve just shaken out a vanilla-scented powder. It’s a well-rounded creation where the layers dance; even though vanilla is at the center, the powdery scent gives it glamour, the balsamic wood adds seriousness, and the pepper brings masculinity. It’s for a young man in his 30s, not for kids. It has a solid 7-hour longevity, 2 hours of average projection, and the rest stays close to the skin. It’s a dense scent up close, almost like you can touch it. Its strength lies in cold climates; it’s casual, neither too informal nor formal, ideal for evening gatherings. For me, it’s a 3/4; it shines on its own, doesn’t resemble anything, and doesn’t try to imitate anything. It’s a modern fougere, sweet but sexy, nothing cloying. Unfortunately, it’s discontinued. You can find dupe fragrances that mimic it, though they aren’t identical, the dry-down is quite similar. It’s a gem I keep in my heart; few current perfumes dare to try something like what’s seen on the red pillar of Carolina Herrera. Only recommended if you’re a fan of this type of perfume; if you’re from a more recent generation, you’ll probably find it strange.

  • Honestly, it’s a weird perfume. At first, it smells good and normal, but once it dries down, it starts smelling like what some people say: sweat. Not just me, I tried it with several friends, and we all had the same experience. I don’t recommend it.
