Acqua di Giò Parfum by Giorgio Armani is a woody aquatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2023, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Alberto Morillas. At first, I thought it was a very simple fragrance, but over time I understood its scent better and it’s a beast: fresh, citrusy, elegant, very versatile and rich, although simple. Rating: 8/10.
Batch 2024; I’ve been testing it for two weeks and honestly, I was a bit disappointed by the longevity. I love the ADG line, but I don’t know if it’s olfactory fatigue, because it doesn’t last me even 5 hours at the office. Hopefully it improves with time, but I doubt it. If you’re planning to buy it and you can get it for less than $70, go ahead.
I’ve always said that Profumo was an Aqua di Gio with the lights dimmed by the incense, and I never understood the hype. This Parfum version is 1000 times better. It reminds me a lot of Profumo but is brighter, sharper, and cleaner due to the notable reduction in incense. I love it. Scent: a mix of Aqua di Gio EDT and diluted Profumo. Incredibly rich. Longevity: 8 perfect hours on my skin (which is grateful). Profumo lasted a bit longer (10 h), but the projection is moderate: the first two hours are great, the third at arm’s length, from the fourth hour it’s in your personal bubble but you can still feel it until the sixth. The seventh and eighth hours are lost, but for me, it’s perfect. It’s a spring-summer fragrance; it’s hard for a citrus-aquatic to last longer without ultra-synthetic components. I bought the 50ml bottle (2024 version) and I’ll use it this summer. I used it for the first time yesterday and already have 3 compliments; today another one. A colleague asked me what I was wearing because he was fascinated. My summer fragrance: 10/10.
It baffles me that some say it lasts more than 8 hours. Are they sending us another formula to America? Do they make normal batches and others that are diluted? I’m 100% sure it’s not my nose, as I’m not the only one noticing the low performance of current European ones compared to Arab ones that last and project. My experience follows the trend of Chanel, Dior, or Guerlain: they only work on the opening, which is the only thing that exists. I imagine they put all their effort there because the customer decides in the first few minutes; afterwards, they forget you. I just bought it, and in enclosed spaces it lasts between an hour and a half to two hours at most before disappearing. I applied it today 30 minutes ago in a semi-open area and it’s already undetectable. With the EDT and the Essenza from the 00s, 3 or 4 sprays projected and lasted 8 hours! You left the house and when you returned, it was still there, with sillage and everything. Buy at your own risk: PREMATURE AND DISPOSABLE FORMULA.
I bought this perfume a week ago. It cost me 60,000 Chilean pesos (about $64.20 USD). I thought it would be an explosive and totally rich experience, but it disappointed me. It’s elegant and rich in the opening, citrusy and marine. The bad part is that it lasts way too little: in 30 minutes it leaves no trail, and in 2 hours I have to look for it on my skin. I have alkaline skin and it’s winter in Chile, probably that affects it. However, to be from 2023, I suspect they reformulated it and its performance disappointed me. I don’t recommend it; although it smells good and is elegant, it lacks impact and brightness. For me, it’s a 2/10.
I like it! I think it’s my favorite along with Profondo. The Parfum is more complex, sharp, and less spherical; the marine note is there, yes, but it shares the stage with a bergamot that stings and is bitter, and an incense that sweetens it. In the middle, notes of the Mediterranean mountain when the sun hits it. Very suitable for all occasions in moderate-to-hot temperatures. Good longevity (8 hours, well) and correct projection.
Acqua di Giò Parfum is a polished update: it keeps the freshness, adds green-woody depth, and offers good longevity. It works great for everyday wear and formal occasions. However, it’s not for those seeking heavy sillage or ultra-original scents. If you’re drawn to something clean, elegant, and reliable, it’s worth it. But if you expect great projection or something with a lot of character, there are better options.
Spectacular. Lasts about 10 hours on the skin, an exquisite scent. The downside? It doesn’t project much.
I don’t know if it’s a rare batch or if the Parfum was reformulated, but after reading hundreds of reviews, I think this version has been unfairly criticized. Most people rate it above the original EDT, and I, who loved the first one, bought the Parfum blind expecting that near-‘Essenza’ concentration, only to be disappointed: the longevity is ridiculous. Basically, you shower in it and by the next hour it’s gone. I thought it was my skin, but it’s the same on clothes. Plus, once it dries, it just smells like spices that remind me of Indian food, nothing attractive. Unfortunately, they filled me with impossible expectations. I absolutely do not recommend it; for that price and pathetic longevity, it’s not worth a moment.
If I had to choose just one, it would be Aqua Di Gio Parfum. It’s the pure DNA of the classic, but with better performance and a dry-down where the incense, rosemary, and patchouli give it incredible sophistication. 10/10: the one that has brought me the most compliments. Perfect for spring/summer nights and autumn days. Buy blind, no risk.
@Feber, have you considered that the perfume you bought might be counterfeit or damaged? Perhaps the distributor stored it poorly—in heat, humidity, or near heat sources—or you didn’t take good care of it myself. I’ve used two bottles, one finished and one in use. Although it doesn’t have the spectacular performance of the AdG Profumo magnetic cap batches (12+ hours), this Parfum never drops below 8 hours, which is excellent for a fresh fragrance in today’s designer perfume landscape.
I’ll just say: So rich and refined!
Fresh, refined, and elegant, simply spectacular.
Among my fresh perfumes, this is my favorite. It says it all: gentleman, elegant, sensual, and fresh as a cucumber. Simply something else. Its fresh spicy notes remind me of freshly cut millionaire grass. Too bad the price here is very high and I can’t use it every day; otherwise, I’d already have five bottles of this masterpiece. That said, I don’t recommend it for parties.
I’ve been searching for an Acqua de Gio I’d actually like (I’m usually a Code girl) and tried every version. This is the one I liked the most. I absolutely love the rosemary note; that’s what sealed the deal. Although it’s very citrusy, it feels more balanced than the others. Lasts about 5-6 hours on skin with a strong initial sillage that fades quickly. It’s perfect right after a shower, very versatile for any time of day, though summer is the best season. I’ve gotten several compliments; it’s complimentary without being overbearing. More of a daytime than nighttime scent, works for both formal and casual settings. The gradient bottle is gorgeous. If the projection lasted longer, I’d rate it higher, but the price is fair for the quality. Scent: 8, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 6, Compliments: 8, Packaging: 7, Value: 8. Total: 7.3.
I read many reviews, even from Arabs, claiming they’ve been reformulated and their performance changed. I think 20% are right and the rest is just nonsense, stupidity, or buying fakes. This Aqua has acceptable longevity despite being fresh and marine, lasting over 6 hours. I bought it in 2025. It’s exquisite. It deserves a better review; I’ll write that later, I just wanted to leave this note.
This is an old-school fragrance: citrus, marine, moderate with a fresh touch, a slight spicy hint, and incense in the dry down. Very versatile for moderate climates, not extremes. Fresh for spring but not summer; moderate and smoky for fall but not winter. Smells like someone older, experienced, sober, and serious—not formal, but with character. It’s not a powerhouse, but it gets the job done for almost anything. Projection is moderate for about an hour and a half, lasting 5-6 hours on skin. I expected more based on YouTube reviews.
A perfect fragrance following all the rules. Delicious aroma, a bit mature and not too youthful. Honestly, I think it works in almost any context except very cold weather. Good projection and decent longevity. It’s a bit pricier than usual but worth it; I bought it blind and definitely have no regrets.
Fresh and elegant, beyond any doubt, this is one of those perfumes that shouldn’t be missing from your collection. It’s liked, loved, and distinguishes the wearer. Buy blind, absolutely.
Hello, gentlemen. I bought the 200ml bottle and fell in love with it instantly; it’s become one of my best perfumes for special occasions, though it’s also very versatile, except for the gym or clubs. It’s a classy scent. For me, what stands out is a very well-executed rosemary, accompanied by an incense that supports the patchouli; together they convey cleanliness, elegance, and masculinity at every stage. It plays at close range and leaves a moderate trail when you pass by, which improves with air conditioning or wind. Its front projection isn’t very notable, so I recommend gesturing while talking to release light bursts. A friend from Spain gave me this tip. One day I wore the perfume at the beach and used the waves to expand my personal bubble. Later, at dinner with my partner, a guy approached and said: ‘Brother, tell me what you’re wearing, it’s everywhere in the room’. I jokingly replied: ‘Is it that good?’. And he answered: ‘It smells exquisite, friend, tell me the name’. He gave me compliments, but I use perfumes like this more to feel good with myself. It doesn’t convey friendliness, flirting, or roughness; it conveys victory without showing off: a scent for winners. On me: LONGEVITY 8H, PROJECTION 1H, BUBBLE 3H, CLOSE TO SKIN 4H, TRAIL 1M (1H). Recommendation: Versatile, as long as you take care of your style. Not recommended: Clubs and sports. Recommended age: 30 and up. The elegance of the sea. 9/10 Elegant, masculine, and attractive.
What more can be said about this fragrance that hasn’t already been said? The ADG DNA brought to modernity; few options on the market offer as much freshness and elegance as this version.
I love how fresh it is. As a fragrance newbie, I wanted to try this classic. It smells like wet mountain stones in Ireland or Mexico on a cold day. It’s not my favorite, but it’s ideal for men who want to smell rich and fresh without any fuss.
Less soapy, more herbal and aromatic; the longevity is exactly what I was looking for and the incense is more contained. Exquisite.
I went to Liverpool to ask for samples; I’d never had an ADG before and didn’t know the original EDT didn’t last or project, something many find annoying. Although I’ve always considered ADGs as refined men’s fragrances, after being disappointed by Profondo, I tried this sample… It smells like celery! Oh my god, pure celery. On paper it lasted all day, but the next day it smelled like makeup, without any charm. Probably unfair not to have worn it on skin, since my skin makes marine notes smell like seaweed and saliva. My point: don’t follow the hype, try before buying. Even if they say they’re great, there are noses like mine that just don’t work with them. What a pity because I did want one in my collection.
They improved the longevity of Profumo, though intensity dropped a bit. Since I used 250ml of the original, I know ADG Parfum is identical to what I remember. It smells like a man, it was my signature in college, and people told me it smelled incredible. I recommend it if you’re looking for something elegant and serious to stand out.
If you like the Acqua di Giò DNA, you won’t regret it. It’s an amazing perfume for going out at night in the summer, super fresh with rosemary really present. I don’t use it as much, but every few weeks I miss it and look for an occasion to wear it. Projection is good for the first hour, with a moderate trail that fades slowly. On dry skin, it lasts about 6-8 hours.
Acqua Di Giò: the pioneer of calone and precursor to a huge wave of marine fragrances. This composition not only set a trend but changed the perfume landscape. Under the shadow of the original came several flankers that took its DNA to new places, but none like this Parfum version. Upon spraying, you get the classic Mediterranean opening of the line, with aromatic herbs—especially rosemary—and a sparkling bergamot. This combo perfectly recreates the feeling of walking on an Italian rocky beach. Minutes later, a dry, deep, dark incense appears. This, along with the bergamot, becomes the true star. At the start, the aromatic/marine part dominates for the first two hours. Gradually, the incense gains weight and takes over. The scent is quite simple: few notes and a clear evolution. That said, the ingredients are of exceptional quality within the commercial world. In performance, it starts with good projection for the first two hours. Afterward, the fresh part recedes, giving way to resins. It stays closer to the skin but still leaves a very good trail with the wind. This base lasts quite a bit, over 12 hours in total. In terms of use and clothing, I see it as the most mature in the line. From age 30, it could be one of the most versatile perfumes you own; if you’re younger, save it for elegant occasions where you want to project maturity. It works in almost any weather, except extreme cold. Day or night, it’s excellent. For younger guys, I recommend wearing it formally; for older men, it becomes more flexible. I love this perfume. It’s one of my favorite commercial scents: it conveys class, maturity, and a surprisingly natural aroma, with very good performance for its olfactive family. For me, a 10/10.
I got a free sample in Liverpool just by walking in. (Honestly, I wouldn’t buy it myself). It’s the only ADG I’ve tried that’s particularly good. Generally, I see the others as mediocre for the price, excessive hype (Profumo), poor longevity (EDT), or unpleasant scents (Profondo). Recommended, though it’s not something I’d personally buy. Probably the most generic men’s perfume smell in history.
A gentleman’s fragrance, perfect for semi-formal occasions or the office. Its aromatic, refined, and marine scent makes it ideal for various situations. The longevity is excellent, easily lasting around 6 hours. A great purchase.
I put on Costa Azzura by Tom Ford again, which I bought a month ago along with Aqua di Giò Parfum. The profiles are very similar, though the latter smells more aquatic while Tom Ford is woodier; either way, they’re heading in the same direction and both are fantastic.
A beast for summer, a great citrus and aquatic touch.
Acqua di Gio Profumo is exactly the same perfume, perfumer, and notes. They discontinued it to relaunch it under a new name.
@Fabry999 It’s possible that 60-year-olds have a more trained nose than you. You shouldn’t look down on older people. Remember that youth is an illness that cures itself with time 😉
Simply exquisite, Morillas did it again.
@JoaquinLeon False. The pioneer of aquatic and calone scents was Davidoff Cool Water, in 1988.
What a delightful fragrance. I have the Profumo and don’t even want to use it so it doesn’t run out since I can’t find it anymore. I stumbled upon this beauty with an opening so similar to that Profumo, only at the very beginning, then it moves elsewhere. Something else I loved besides the initial similarity is how rich and soft the herbal notes feel at the same time; to me, it feels like being in a very dense forest of trees, indescribable. And what about the longevity? Both times I’ve worn it, it lasted easily over 10 hours on skin and a bit longer on clothes. Without a doubt, a great bet by Morillas; this fragrance is spectacular.
7/10. It’s not a bad perfume, but it’s not the best version of Acqua di Gio for the price and performance; there are better options for a DNA that old. One of my worst Armani purchases. I’ve gotten lots of compliments from women, but I feel it’s still too similar to the original, which kills my interest. It’s a heat and sun perfume like most ADGs.
I’d been wearing the classic Acqua di Giò from ’96 for years. While I respect its history, it never fully clicked for me. It felt right and fresh, but just lacked that “something” to make me reach for it again. With the Parfum, things changed radically. A friend had one, so I tested it over several days in real life, not in a store, and I fell in love. It keeps the marine DNA but with a depth and elegance the classic lacked. It’s more serious, modern, and balanced. It doesn’t lose freshness; it gains character. I loved it so much I bought the 200ml and it became my daily driver. It’s versatile, clean, masculine without being over the top, and super pleasant. It doesn’t tire you out, it’s not cloying, and it doesn’t invade. It just works. The evolution this DNA needed.
Performance well above average; projection is the standout. I notice it right after spraying and it radiates for a long time. Lasting power until it disappears is over 8 hours for me, plus I detect a very slight, subtle sweet touch at the dry-down that I personally love.
My absolute signature, a beast on all fronts. Just picked up a 2025 batch and noticed the intensity has dipped slightly compared to my 2023 bottle, but I still say it: highly recommended!
