Descripción

Acqua di Giò Profondo by Giorgio Armani is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2020, this olfactory composition was created by Alberto Morillas. Upon release, the fragrance unfolds with marine notes, aquozone, bergamot, and green mandarin; the heart reveals rosemary, lavender, cypress, and lentisk resin; and the base settles on mineral notes, musk, patchouli, and amber.

One of my current favorites. Exquisite, with incredible longevity and projection. Very fresh, citrusy, and elegant. It’s a safe bet, very easy to like. I’m sure I’ll buy another when this one runs out.

  • fragaddict04

One of my top 50 perfumes, even ahead of many niche ones. It’s a highly addictive fragrance; I recommend buying it blind. Although the new ‘Bache’ isn’t the same as the old one and in my opinion is worse, bergamot and those marine notes dominate—a perfect masculine marvel for winter. Scent: 9.7/10 (if you like bergamot, it’s a 10). Longevity: 8/10, over 6-7 hours for a freshie. Projection: strong for the first 2 hours, then moderate but with a big trail. Price: accessible. Conclusion: one of the best for summer; if you find the old Bache, buy blind.

It’s the perfume I use the most, even if it’s not my favorite. It has a captivating fragrance without being extravagant, perfect for everyday wear. Its aquatic notes take me to a day by the sea, with silence and calm, evoking peace. I own many fragrances and love trying new ones, but this is the only one I’ve repurchased. In short, a safe bet for daily life.

  • eduavilag

Delicious fragrance: citrusy, marine, fresh, easy to wear and please, ideal for heat and daytime. Longevity on skin is good (approx. 8 hours), strong projection for the first 2 hours with a medium trail; afterward it stays close to the skin but it’s a delicious scent you love smelling over and over. It’s supremely perfect and refreshing for the hot season. I’ve received several compliments and it’s definitely one of my favorites.

  • CGRTheReal

Without a doubt, the king of aquatics in my opinion: fresh, citrusy, marine, elegant. It shouldn’t be missing from your collection, and you should try it at least once in your life.

  • An exquisite scent; I don’t mind it being generic—I’m not going to the next Cannes Film Festival. At first, it smells like the original Acqua di Gio, which I never liked; it even seems to have incense (maybe ambroxan or ambergris) and reminds me of Profumo, which I had to gift away for that note. But soon that little twist appears that I love, shifting into a sweet finish. It’s one of my favorites of this season, and although my skin is generous, it lasts quite well. I recommend it if you don’t need to be mega-exclusive and live in Monaco.

  • Acqua di Giò Profondo captures the best of the original marine DNA with a more modern, sophisticated twist. From the first spray, that clean aquatic freshness transforms into something sturdier thanks to mineral notes, incense, and amber. What impressed me most is its versatility: it works perfectly on hot days or mild evenings, whether for work, dinner, or the gym. It projects cleanliness, serenity, and maturity without being heavy. The longevity is excellent for an aquatic: 7 to 9 hours with moderate projection that leaves a pleasant trail, especially at the start. It doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but it elegantly improves the original’s legacy. It’s a safe, classy choice for anyone seeking freshness without sacrificing presence. A must-have if you love refined marine styles.

With my trained nose in perfumery, Acqua di Gio Profondo is a delicacy for everyday wear. It has incredibly charming marine notes that teleport you wherever the breeze takes you, with standout citrus and fresh touches that shine in the heat—rich and elegant yet not formal, but sophisticated. The quality is evident in the scent, projection, and authenticity, unlike many imitations on the market. I pity that no other marine smells this good. Longevity is decent (6-8 hours) and it’s one of the ones I’ve received the most compliments on, mainly from men. Words can’t express it, honestly.

  • Stormcrow

I’m in love with this perfume from my entire collection; it’s my favorite. It’s fresh, elegant, distinctive, long-lasting, and projects… it has it all. If we’re talking about spring and summer, it’s perfect.

  • I’ve loved this perfume ever since it launched; that fresh scent is a total hit. My only personal gripe is that on my skin it literally lasts two hours, proven! I bought it at two different stores, Siman and Fragrancenet, and the result is identical. It’s a shame because I read others get eight hours. Does anyone else experience this?

  • EricDraven

Hi, I wore it to check something I already knew: it lasts an hour. Literally. I don’t know if it’s the worst I’ve tried, along with Prada’s Luna Rossa Ocean, in terms of longevity. It’s not something that obsesses me, but at this price, you’d want to run away.

  • MaatCesar

I’ve tried other Acqua di Gio versions, the EDT and the Parfum, and without a doubt, the one that lasts the longest on me is this one, the Profondo. It lasts a long time on clothes and projects well after 8 hours. Once I wore it at 11 am, and after 9 hours, while inside a hot building, I got into a car with two people, and they told me I still smelled like perfume. So I say this perfume easily lasts more than 8 hours with decent projection. Although yes, I did apply about 10 sprays in total.

  • What a crazy perfume. I had it a year ago and it was my favorite; I used it for everything, no doubt. I’ll be buying it again.

  • Cristh_PB

I’m in love with this fragrance; it’s gotten me so many compliments. It’s very fresh, clean, and has good longevity. It’s one I would always buy again.

  • FraganticFan

Great perfume. The opening mixes aquatic notes with sparkling citrus. The dry-down is aromatic, with an amber, musky, and mineral base that adds elegance and masculinity. It’s a modern version of the 90s classic that you must have if you love this Armani line. The price is a bit high for its performance, which has dropped with the new formula. I have a 2024 batch, and it’s not the same as before; it used to be a ‘beast mode,’ now it follows the trend of designer houses. If you want to keep the freshness right after applying, bring a decant. It serves for everything: summer, spring, and even fall. Very versatile. Final rating: 8.5/10.

  • One of my favorite fresh scents for summer. The EDP blends the classic DNA with something modern and deep, ideal for heat and very easy to wear. I prefer it to the Parfum (though I haven’t tried the Elixir). Longevity is good for its type, around 7-8 hours. It starts intense and then becomes intimate. Its only rival is the Parfum for presence, but this stands out for freshness and versatility.

  • ManucoSeven

A simple marine scent, rich but common, very aquatic. It’s not the DNA that suits me; it reminds me of D&G’s Light Blue but much more skin-friendly. I wouldn’t buy it, but it could be a hit for others. Among blue fragrances, only Loewe 7 Cobalt has truly won me over. Maybe if they added some incense and clove, it would be more my style.

  • Faithful to the Acqua di Giò DNA, it projects body and character after the typical freshness of the line. The background cypress is noticeable and sets it apart. The problem is that for me, the projection and longevity are very low. It’s a multi-purpose scent, elegant and casual.

  • Marine and fresh, even elegant, very much in the ADG line. Compared to the Parfum, they share about 80% and have a similar dry-down, though this one has a bit more difference. Longevity isn’t its strong suit.

  • charlotinable

Very generic; a scent I’ve smelled countless times elsewhere. Quite ordinary and nothing spectacular… But that doesn’t make it a bad perfume, I must say!

  • Acqua di Giò Profondo is fresh and marine, true to its name. It has that aquatic opening that evokes breeze and cleanliness. The interesting part is when it settles: an intimate nuance, almost human, like clean, attractive sweat. It’s not in my top tier, but I recognize its charm for hot days or something light and elegant. It works well at close range with that serene masculinity that lingers discreetly. A modern classic, safe, and simple, with a sensual touch that awakens in the heat.

  • crfransdigio

Simply spectacular aroma, ultra-masculine, and brings the line closer to a younger audience. Unfortunately, longevity on the new batches is very poor: when I bought it, it lasted 6-7 hours, and now with the degraded bottle, it barely makes it to 4 hours with almost no sillage.

  • Gerardo García Zarate

Citrusy opening for the beach; as it dries down, it becomes a woody citrus, reminiscent of the blue fragrances from that era. It’s versatile, elegant, and fresh—perfect for daily wear. People like it and it smells good, but the longevity and projection are very poor for the price.

  • Fresh and elegant when you want something quick without overthinking. It doesn’t innovate, but it has earned me compliments. Recommended as a daily signature scent.

  • Compared to the EDP, it lasts less. It’s rich, but I wouldn’t choose it over the classic EDP.

  • Lucapereirafitperfumes

A rich, fresh, marine men’s fragrance—the kind that makes you feel great and that everyone loves. It projects but isn’t a beast mode. You can buy it blind; it’s versatile and suitable for any occasion.

  • Not exceptional, but I’m giving it a happy face because it smells good. It would be perfect for daily wear; I’d buy it myself, but in-store it didn’t last at all. After two sprays, it felt weak by the half-hour mark and was gone by the hour.

  • The opening is spectacular and the scent is exquisite, but it’s way too expensive for what it offers. It lasts about 3 hours on skin with a 30-minute projection, which is a shame. If it were affordable, I’d justify it, but there are better and cheaper options out there.

  • Smells incredible; a friend gifted me a decant and I was instantly hooked. It’s fresh yet classy, evoking that specific lemon scent you remember. My only complaint is longevity: on my skin, it lasts only 3-4 hours. But I absolutely love that clean, sophisticated vibe.

  • A fragrance with a very crisp freshness; I must say, the first time I smelled it, I thought, ‘eh, something somewhat common, but pleasant,’ one of those easy-to-wear scents. After using it for several weeks, I can tell you it’s still easy to wear and enjoy; you won’t go wrong with this. But the magic and what I loved and hooked on is the dry-down; it’s so delicious, dry woods but so aromatic that I can stay smelling my arm or clothes just to feel that rich scent, believe me, the dry-down is something brutal. Now, regarding longevity, sillage, etc., it lasts me 8 hours, barely hitting 9 on the skin, and a bit longer on clothes, but only for the first 2 or 3 hours does it leave a noticeable sillage; after that, it’s all personal scent or very close range.

Acqua di Gio Profondo is no longer the one I knew. I’ve known since 2024 when they reformulated it in a new bottle, but there are things you only understand when you live them again alone. I’m walking to my favorite restaurant, the usual one, the one I knew by heart because I always went there with my girlfriend. We rarely arrived on time. I take the subway and sit in the same car where I’ve thought countless times, with almost childish anxiety, ‘What if something goes wrong today?’, even though I’d seen it dozens of times and we always had fun. That absurd feeling of nervousness never went away while we were together. It was part of the ritual. Just like the perfume. The train moves forward and the scent of Profondo still lives in my memory. Not the new one. The old one. The one from the old bottle. The one with that mineral base that felt wet, truly deep, like a rock under the sea. That perfume was a relationship in itself. It was born with me when I didn’t even know who I was yet. It was the first one I bought with my own money. And I didn’t choose it alone. I remember the store. We walked in without rushing. She was testing blotters as if she knew more than the salespeople. She looked at me, brought it to my neck, and said, ‘I want this for you.’ She didn’t say ‘I like it.’ Nor did she say ‘It’s okay.’ She said, without any doubt… ‘I want this for you.’ I felt it too. It wasn’t just a scent; it was a promise. Of maturity, of long nights, of something that was just beginning. I left there with the bag in hand and the feeling of having made an important decision, even though I didn’t know exactly why. The subway stops. I transfer to the next line and the memories pile up without asking permission. It’s normal, I think. It had to happen. You can’t walk the same places expecting memory to be discreet. Every escalator is a scene in my head. Every platform, a conversation we had somewhere. Profondo was there in almost all of them: in the quick goodbyes, in the impromptu dinners, in the hugs where the neck was just at the right height for her to breathe deeply without realizing it. I arrive at my destination. I get off the subway and, for a second, I look toward the ticket booths. I still do. With an illusory, automatic hope. That’s where she used to wait for me. Sitting down, looking at her phone, lifting her eyes just as I appeared. She’s not there today. She won’t be there anymore. Maybe one day she’ll come with someone else. Maybe other couples will sit there, knowing nothing about us. Maybe I’ll return with someone else too. But she won’t be there. And even though the place is the same, it won’t be the same anymore. Just like Profondo. The new version exists. It’s in display cases, in ads, in clean and orderly testers. It resembles it, obviously. I recognize the DNA. But it’s missing something. The mineral edge, that salty sensation that didn’t try to please everyone. Now it’s more polished, more correct, more commercial. It doesn’t fill me up. It doesn’t speak to me. It’s like seeing someone you loved deeply… and realizing there’s nothing left of what once lived there. The scent that marked me so much now lives only in memory. Or in old batches, hidden like relics. Old bottles selling for a gold price. And there appears the uncomfortable question. Is it worth paying so much to go back? Is it worth clinging to a scent to relive moments that no longer exist? Or is it healthier to let the past be exactly that: the past? I could buy one of those bottles. Use it carefully, like someone listening to an old vinyl knowing each playback wears it down a bit more. I could close my eyes and feel the subway again, the laughter, the delays, when she managed to be taller than me on the escalator. Or I could accept that some things were perfect precisely because they ended. That Profondo, like that relationship, completed its cycle. That not everything is made to last, but to mark. I leave the restaurant hours later. My neck is now perfumed with another scent, and the aroma stays there. I walk back without rushing. I see younger couples walking near the place. They remind me of what I once was. Maybe I won’t buy that old-batch Profondo again. Maybe I’ll buy the new EDT version. I still don’t know. The only clear thing is this: even if a perfume gets reformulated, it will always remain intact in memory. And there, curiously, it smells better than ever.

  • Exceptional aroma, if you’re into smelling like a man, something marine, the cleanest you can imagine without being chemical, with a slight fruity touch, this is for you; the scent profile is very good. The only thing holding it back is the longevity; I don’t see it lasting more than 4 and a half hours. But if you have money and you’re 30, this is one of the best options. Obviously, if you don’t mind reapplying, it’s a 9.something out of 10; if you’re looking for a perfume that meets all aspects, it’s a 7/10.

  • iSantiBravo

Ultra masculine. It’s a sophisticated citrus. I imagine a young, wealthy person on the Italian coast. It’s not something I would use myself, as I prefer sweet perfumes.

  • martinalmeida

It’s my preferred men’s perfume, but its sillage is non-existent and the longevity is between 4 to 6 hours on the skin. I love it, but they should improve that.

  • One of my favorite perfumes. Great projection. Good sillage. It’s a fragrance that might seem common, but to me, it’s addictive. It’s the perfume that has gotten me the most compliments, and I’ve received quite a few good ones. Its opening is explosive but elegant, it projects a lot, and leaves a huge sillage for the first half hour. I’ve read that it doesn’t last long for many people, but after the first hour and a half of projecting, the dry-down lasts me another two hours on the skin. I imagine it depends a lot on everyone’s skin type. For a perfume focused on the opening and projection, its longevity is quite good.

  • Josué Alán Barrón Terán

It lasted me about 4 hours. It felt very expensive for what little it offers (on me). It smells very nice though.

  • Clarification: I’m talking about the version with the new 2024 bottle. Although Fragrantica has a profile for it, many people leave reviews on the page for the original 2020 version (the all-blue bottle) which is no longer sold. To the point: my favorite was Profondo Lights, a limited edition that’s nearly impossible to find. Looking for something for summer at a department store, I picked it up blind (no tester), knowing it had been reformulated and hoping they’d fixed the issues I had with the original. My impressions: The opening changes a lot compared to the original. In the 2020 version, it was strong, coarse, mineral, and very sharp; in this new 2024 version, I noticed it’s much more alcoholic and light, as if they removed that characteristic mineral and metallic part. Performance: While the 2020 version wasn’t amazing in longevity and projection, this 2024 version is much (but much) lighter. After a few minutes, the DNA of the original appears, but in a very delicate way. Because it’s so delicate, after 3 or 4 hours (or even less), there’s almost no trace left. Projection: The sillage is low, bordering on non-existent, even with several sprays. Conclusion: I see it as suitable for someone looking for something light, fresh, and masculine who is a huge fan of the brand; someone who doesn’t mind spending what it costs and reapplying every 2 or 3 hours to last through extreme heat. It’s useless in autumn and winter. I wouldn’t buy it again. The performance is way off from its price, and I don’t recommend paying full price.

  • I absolutely love this perfume; it’s my favorite citrus scent. The mandarin and bergamot, combined with those marine notes, make it super fresh, clean, and leave you feeling very comfortable. It’s a 10/10. Since it’s an EDT, it doesn’t have much sillage or longevity, but that’s typical for citrus and fresh fragrances; still, it’s perfect for everyday wear.
