I bought this out of nostalgia, remembering my dad’s 80s Toro de Cabeza bottle he used to play with the kids. I recall taking off the cap and sniffing the residue; I don’t know exactly what it smelled like, but it was strong, penetrating, and lasted forever in the bathroom. That’s why I ordered it from Avon, making it my only product from the brand. What arrived has nothing to do with it: it’s a classic bottle full of alcohol that smells and tastes like alcohol, until I use it as a disinfectant. My joy is a bottomless pit, and my memory of it is gone; I don’t know what it smelled like before, but now it smells like nothing.

  • Smells like musk and amber with a floral touch in the middle. Very affordable price, typical Avon stuff. I recommend it for being mature without being overwhelming. It’s not for young people; for that, they have other lines like 300 km/h. Cheers.

  • Vanilla and flowers, smells great. I thought that since it’s called Wild Country and comes in a boot, it would smell like a rough guy, lumberjack beard, but it wasn’t like that.

  • I have the famous boot version, a gift from my brother to show off on the shelf. I tried it back in the 90s as a kid; my mom gave it to me as part of the catalog of that time. As a kid, I knew nothing about perfumes, but I loved it and felt great. Today, after 30 years, I say it adds nothing and might be horrible for the youth. Meanwhile, I, who used it at its peak, still hold a fondness for it, even though I know its scent isn’t the best.

  • I’m 42 and smelled it for the first time at the end of the 90s; I liked it. Many people talk badly about it because it was super popular among the older generation and maybe it got people tired of it. The last time I used it was in 2019; I think this bottle is less concentrated than the boot and they are colognes. It doesn’t smell very good, nothing old, it’s a soft floral scent, soft wood that doesn’t bother, and vanilla with talc. In fact, today there are many perfumes with the same vanilla and talc DNA. I remember my childhood with elders using super strong, green, very woody, or herbal perfumes, yes, those of elders. But this one, despite the years, I see as youthful due to its soft vanilla and talc scent; it’s pleasant. Pity if it doesn’t perform.

  • It’s not a bad perfume, personally it doesn’t suit my age and pH, sad to read so many unpleasant comments based on the brand and price without being objective. It’s a vintage aroma, not very polished, but for a reason it’s been a sales success for so many years. If they gave it to me blind, I could believe it’s something discontinued from Jean Paul Gaultier.

  • It’s like walking into a 90s barbershop, very talcum-powdered, and I don’t know what else to highlight; it’s not for someone young.

  • HCPerfumado

One of the worst tries I’ve had. It feels like they throw all the notes right at your nose, disorganized and messy, sharp. But after a few minutes, it becomes something more or less pleasant, slightly citrusy, with soft floral touches, talcum-powdered, slightly sweet, and woody. It loses intensity quickly, becoming a skin scent that’s not bad but also not memorable. It’s hated by many and loved by a group out of nostalgia, maybe because they don’t have anything better or know little about perfumes; still, a classic. Projection of 30 to 40 minutes, lasting 4 hours. Price of 9 to 17 dollars; that’s why you can find better things. Anyway, to not smell like nothing or bad, better to smell like Wild Country.

  • I remember buying it for my dad… I still like its sweet, talcum-powdered, and woody fragrance. Sometimes it smelled more like a baby than a mature man, probably due to its talcum part. On skin, the longevity is very good, easily lasts 12 hours. Projection is good for the first 3 hours, leaving a faint trail of soft, sweet, talcum-powdered scent. Its use is versatile for cold days, but I like it more for night in meetings in closed spaces with a cold atmosphere. Among your daily wear fragrances, it easily projects cleanliness, seriousness, and warmth.

  • I remember buying it for my father… I still like its sweet, talcum-woody fragrance. Sometimes it smelled more like a baby than a mature man, probably due to that talcum aspect. On skin, the longevity is very good; it easily lasts 12 hours. It projects well for the first 3 hours, leaving a faint trail of soft, sweet talcum. Its use is versatile for cold days, but I prefer it for night gatherings in enclosed, cold spaces. Among your daily-use fragrances, it easily projects cleanliness, seriousness, and warmth.

  • I heard the bottle is more concentrated than the one in the photo, that these smell weak and don’t last. I’ve tried everything: CK Sauvage, Dior Cool Water, Clinique Happy, Dylan Blue, Fierce, Polo Blue, several Carolina Herreras, Ted Lapidus, and others. This is one of my favorites; I think people hate it because it’s cheap and popular, smelling like talc with wood and soft vanilla. I don’t get why they’re repulsed since women’s perfumes today are pure vanilla; it doesn’t feel masculine to me, it’s classic. What they can’t stand is Brute; this one is soft, fresh, has a good trail, works for anything, winter or summer.

  • When I was a kid, I stole it from my dad, haha… it was a powerhouse, incredible trail and lasted all day. It smells masculine, just like its name. My take is that Avon made copies of the trendy perfumes of the time, this would be like the Classic Brute.

Before I had a perfume collection, in my early university years, I only had a Mont Blanc Legend and a bottle of this perfume shaped like a liquor decanter that someone gifted me for my birthday. It’s not an easy or pleasant scent; in fact, my ex-girlfriend hated it because, according to her, it smelled bitter (and it’s true, it smells like liquor). When I finished that bottle by chance, a different person gifted me a new one (like the one in the photo), and I perceived that the aroma lost its potency and that liquor sensation wasn’t noticeable anymore. I still have half a bottle just to remember those old days and as a token of affection for whoever gifted it to me, but honestly and respectfully, I never plan to return to this scent.

Before I had a collection, in my early college years I only had a Mont Blanc Legend and a bottle of this shaped like a decanter, a birthday gift. It’s not an easy or pleasant scent; my ex hated it because she said it smelled bitter (and it’s true, it smells like liquor). I finished that bottle by accident and someone gifted me a new one (like the photo), but I noticed it lost potency and no longer smells so much like liquor. I have half a bottle saved out of affection for the gift, but honestly, I’ll never return to this scent.

  • Not bad at all, although personally I don’t use perfume, but the refreshing cologne is really great. When I get out of the shower, I put it on my body and also on my beard, where it leaves an incredibly rich, embedded aroma. It’s a typical vanilla-musk scent, quite complex with many notes, in the Old Spice style but not as overpowering; it’s a bit more intrusive because it projects more and has better performance. It’s not a masterpiece, but within the realm of vintage, budget-friendly, classic fougère, and ‘macho’ aromas, it seems unisex. The quality-to-price ratio is top-notch, by far.

  • Not bad at all, although I don’t wear it myself, the refreshing cologne is amazing. I put it on after a shower on my body and beard, leaving a rich, lingering aroma. It’s vanilla, musky, and complex with so many notes, Old Spice style but not as heavy, though it projects more and lasts longer. It’s not a masterpiece, but within the realm of vintage budget fougère, classic ‘macho’ scent but unisex, the quality-to-price ratio is top-notch.

  • Manila´s Sense

I had it in the classic cowboy boot format. I loved it; I saw it as a mix of lemon, orange blossom, amber, musk, hyssop, basil, sandalwood, patchouli, castoreum, woods, leather, and whiskey. Very masculine, reminds me of a classic I use now, Varon Dandy. The common thing is that nostalgic smell of grandfathers, offices, and old barbershops. However, Wild Country is by far the most intense.

  • Gastonhee

What a ugly perfume! I never felt anything like it; I like vintage but I couldn’t stand this, so I gifted it away after a few days.

  • JavierBrian

I simply don’t get it; the price is excellent but I can’t find anything good in its scent. I sense it’s for 24-30 year olds; I don’t know if the scent is hard to understand or if the perfume is bad. I don’t wear it because I hate it, rarely do I hear anyone wearing it, it attracts nothing at all (at least to me). I can’t see any occasion for it, not even for staying at home. I absolutely do not recommend buying it blindly; it’s a cheap perfume and the smell becomes invasive, it’s one of those that people who don’t know about perfumes buy: informal, intense, and invasive.

  • This scent has always seemed to me one of the most unpleasant things possible. As someone commented, it smells like dirt, like grease, covered with a sweet smell mixed with sweat. I don’t recommend it for any age or reason, unless you need a repellent. Maybe if you like it, use it in minimal quantity because it’s extremely heavy.

  • I think in terms of aroma it has something very singular and characteristic; personally, I find it very pleasant and at an excellent price.

  • For a cologne, it has very good performance, similar to eau de parfum or toilet water. I consider it unisex; I really enjoy the combination of its notes, sharp and sweet, balanced and soft, making it an easy-to-wear cologne and extremely pleasant to the nose.

  • Uglydreamer92

Last time I tried this classic was in 2012, when Wild Country was already reformulated and the quality wasn’t what it used to be: the trail was barely noticeable and the scent disappeared in 2 or 3 hours. Still, the aroma remained decent. What I learned is that you should only apply it to your skin; if you put it on clothes, especially white ones, it leaves a nasty yellow stain within minutes. It’s a shame it’s so far from its prime years now.

  • GoldenGabriel

I hate it. I know many people love it, but to me, it smells like cow urine from the countryside.

  • GoldenGabriel

I don’t like it at all, but I know many people use it and love it. Personally, its aroma reminds me of when I went to the countryside and smelled cow urine.

  • Oswal Alanis

At first, it’s heavy, but within minutes it softens and smells great. I love it; it’s very affordable and lasts a few hours. Even though I’m young, I think it suits adults better. It’s a cologne that invites compliments.

  • My spoiled baby from the collection. I’ve used it on and off for over ten years. It smells like vanillic talcum powder with lavender, giving a clean sensation. I have the classic version with the cowboy-style bottle. Projection and longevity are minimal; I use it sparingly out of nostalgia. In terms of quality, it’s below hundreds of other perfumes, but at $12, the price is unbeatable. Rating: 5.5/10.

  • The spoiled child of my collection. I use it occasionally after more than a decade. It smells like vanilla-talc with a lavender that makes you feel clean. I have the classic version with the cowboy-style bottle. Its projection is weak and the longevity is minimal; I use it very little, but I keep it for nostalgia. In terms of quality, it’s below hundreds of other fragrances, but the best part is the price: around $12. Rating: 5.5/10.

  • I’ve used expensive colognes up to $100, and I like this one. I’m not a construction worker, a trailer park dweller, or a drunkard; it has a soft, woody scent with spicy and citrus notes. I like it for the aroma, not because women like it; many of my friends prefer stronger scents. It’s a $10 cologne—accessible, classic, and not as cloying as Old Spice, Brut, Black Rose, or Steel.

  • I’ve used colognes costing up to $100, then tried this; I like the aroma. I’m not a construction worker, a trailer park dweller, or a drunkard; it has a soft, woody scent with spice and citrus notes. I wear it because I like the smell, not because women like it; many of my friends prefer expensive colognes that smell like hell. This has a soft, almost talcum-like aroma; no one could say it’s not youthful, since tastes are subjective: some like citrus, others wood or fruit. Plus, it’s a $10 cologne, not as cloying as Old Spice, Brute, or Rosa Negra.

  • Very rich, talcum-like like a classic men’s barbershop, and delicate if used in the right amount; highly recommended.

  • Very rich, with a talcum powder scent like classic masculine barber shops, and delicate if used in moderation. Highly recommended.

  • I saw the version with the glass boot-shaped bottle in an Avón catalog and didn’t hesitate to order it; it’s beautiful and collectible. The scent harks back to the past, reminding me of ‘The Good Old Days.’ To be honest, I didn’t buy it for the smell but for the bottle, though I don’t dislike it either—less so for me, being of ranching origin and occasionally dressing up as a cowboy. I’ll wear it to a country bar on Sundays, to the antique market, or for a walk in the countryside, woods, or mountains with my boots and hat. Remembering is living, and what better memory than those of the past.

  • Xavier 25

I had fun reading Azuriiita’s review; they hit the nail on the head regarding the concept, scent, and presentation. I’d add that it’s the ideal scent for a man in his rawest state, covered in sweat and grease, driving his truck, coming home after hours of travel, having a few beers with friends, hitting the nightclub, going home, getting it on with his wife, and going to sleep. Excuse me if the image is grotesque, but that’s the first thing that came to mind. When I was a child and teenager, I used it, and it brings back pleasant memories, but I wouldn’t repeat it. It’s a musky, vanillic scent with lavender and woody touches, raw and direct. Projection and longevity in the 80s and 90s were very good, though it was a cologne; I don’t know if it has changed today. It’s more for people over 30, preferably starting at 35; it’s not youthful.

  • Evolutico

I disagree with the previous descriptions. The only thing that makes it seem like a prototype of a macho man is the name and the bull on the emblem. The rosy liquid suggests an undervalued product. Its top notes are clearly fougère, ideal for everyday use, at home, or in the office, with no pretensions other than feeling clean and smelling like a barbershop, a very repeated concept. Since it’s from Avón and has an accessible price with a generic packaging, I appreciate the finesse and dedication; it ranks alongside Brut and Old Spice, which have lasted for decades. One cannot deny the soft talcum powder scent; the excellent combination of lavender, bergamot, and lime at the start gives way to oak moss, vanilla, and amber. The musk is subtle; if it were more intense, it would be powerful. My verdict: if you can get it, do it; it’s a great value.

  • I totally agree with Azuriiita, and I’d add that I love how dirty this fragrance is. It makes me melancholic yet so peaceful and content just to smell it.

  • Arrived today and I love how fresh and soft it smells; I’ll be wearing it daily for casual settings.

  • Smells very ‘Wild’, but in that aromatic blend, I don’t detect any notes other than a heavy synthetic musk. I imagine it on hardworking men who get dirty, take a quick shower, and head out to drink beer with friends until they can’t take it anymore. It feels like a cliché for a macho-man archetype; if that was the packaging’s intention, bravo Avon!

  • A classic from Avon that’s pleasant at first, especially if you haven’t smelled another fragrance before; I wonder how it’s survived so many years. It’s a common scent, nothing extraordinary, the default alternative in all their catalogs. I sensed some lavender and lemon, though I’m not sure. We still have an empty bottle at home that used to be my father’s; needless to say, it’s not a youthful fragrance.
