  I tried this years ago in Santiago de Chile and it’s very special. It starts with intense vanilla-like lavender sometimes fresh and green with vegetal touches. Bergamot and lemon add freshness an orangey tone as I call it. Then geraniums and roses blend with the vanilla and patchouli base making an interesting uncommon classy and stylish EDT. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a chypre like this; it’s very good too bad it’s no longer available. Thanks.

  Finally I tried this Lancôme Sagamore and it’s a complex beast. It opens with citrus lavender hyacinth and petit grain that create a precious sensation so it’s already worth it. Then come high-quality florals followed by wood. I love it even if the longevity and sillage are a bit soft; I sprayed 7 or 8 times to make it noticeable. It’s discreet refined and oozes class and elegance. I don’t know if there’s a current version to decide whether I’m satisfied or if I should hunt for this vintage delight. Beautiful proposal.

  Sagamore is an enigma that shuffles itself a polyhedral gem that surprises by surviving the Eighties that era of olfactory madness. It opens with a radiant bergamot petit grain and hyacinth chypre that shines like crystal but soon the lavender adds a metallic green touch. The true protagonist is the floral heart: jasmine carnation and geranium creating an exuberant almost feminine garden though vanilla cinnamon and sandalwood trim those edges as it dries. It’s not aggressive but a discreet elegance thanks to that cold dry lavender paired with creamy vanilla paying homage to Caron. It turns the Spartan classic into a delicious unique aromatic fern. Rarer than Betamax today it would be a worthy niche; it has a soft sillage but correct longevity an unavoidable milestone for collectors and an unforgettable landscape I met thanks to Jerry Drake.
