Avon was born in 1886 as the California Perfume Company, after David H. McConnell discovered that his customers preferred perfume samples to the books he was selling. The company was renamed Avon in 1939 and developed a direct sales system based on representatives.
The first collection was called Little Dot and brought together five single-note perfumes. The current catalog mixes fragrances, makeup and body care; Haiku is among its historic products. The brand maintains campaigns, brochures and digital channels alongside its network of representatives.
