Far Away by Avon is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1994, this composition was created by René Morgenthaler and Xavier Renard. The top notes unfold with coconut, ylang-ylang, peach, karoo karoo flower, and orange; the heart reveals jasmine, gardenia, violet, freesia, osmanthus, and rose; while the base notes settle on vanilla, sandalwood, amber, and musk.

  • I think it’s great! I bought it for my mother, and she said it brought back memories. It smells balanced, neither too sweet nor sharp like other jasmines. It’s a good formula between flowers, vanilla, and coconut. It smells incredibly good, and I love smelling it on her. Without a doubt, Avon has little gems in its catalog that smell amazing and don’t have to be expensive.

  • The perfume with the best trail and longevity in the entire universe, and I hate it 😫😫😫. For me, it’s very strong talc with vanilla, but super, super powerful. It has an indescribable, tenth-power intensity.

  • Paula1989

I had the deodorant in this fragrance. I love spicy and persistent scents. The bottle is a work of art. It’s not expensive and I’ll be buying it soon. Ideal for autumn and winter.

  • The opening hits me like a terrible slap and gives me a headache, but after drying down (about 20 minutes) I start to like it. Nice white flowers emerge, and I never detect the vanilla. It lasts a long time on the skin. I agree it smells like an older woman; sometimes I mix it with a vanilla body mist to soften it. In the end, after 30 minutes, I detect very potent neroli, even though that note isn’t listed, or maybe I’m confusing myself. Conclusion: I wouldn’t buy it again, although it’s not a bad fragrance.

  • I used it long ago and it still evokes memories today. Exotic and unmistakable, warm, ideal for winter. Excellent longevity, the epitome of oriental, a hit from Avon.

A commercial success, very popular in my country. It smells like talc, spices, and is conservative, nice, and very convenient for the office given the price. Although I get bored of it quickly, don’t wear it daily.

  • PiñaKawaii

I hate this perfume. On my skin, the flowers smell foul, like they’re oxidized. It’s too oriental and gives me a headache. It’s exotic, but not for me. It requires a lot of personality and might be tiring if worn daily. If you like intense oriental and spicy fragrances, give it a try. It’s a shame my skin rejects it, but I’ll try the cologne, which is cheap here in Chile and has something that attracts me.

  • I love this scent! I’ve always adored it, but watch out: it’s intense. If you like it, buy the cologne—it’s cheap and lasts longer than many mid-range EDTs. The cologne smells like talc, vanilla, and spices, sweet but less overwhelming, ideal for daily wear. Be careful with sprays; overdoing it leads to annoyance. With moderation and in cool weather, it’s exquisite. It’s not a scent for teenagers or older women; it’s for those who wear it with confidence. Everyone should use what they like without prejudice. I discovered it at 25 in an office and fell in love. Now at 32, I own the cologne and plan to get the perfume. It’s perfect: feminine, powerful, and sweet. Less is more to avoid being intrusive. It’s controversial, it doesn’t leave people indifferent, it’s exotic and bold. I’m fascinated by it. Test it on skin, not paper, because it smells different. A sweet beauty for those who love intense and exotic scents.

  • Perfect balance between peach, jasmine, vanilla, and amber. It has a vintage vibe without being outdated or annoying. It’s classic yet very current. Avon has gems, and this is one of the best.

I’ve been wearing this perfume for years and will keep buying it. The trail is a bomb, noticeable from afar. Once it dries down, it forgets the tropical notes and lets the sandalwood, amber, musk, and bitter almond shine through—a warm, powdery touch I absolutely love. The ylang-ylang and peach come out strong at first but fade quickly. It’s a characterful scent, perhaps too strong for younger people due to that mature musk, but it’s all a matter of taste. For the price, its longevity and projection are incredible, comparable to Dior Addict.

  • Avon Far Away. This review is about my bottle, which is eight years old, so I haven’t tried the current version. I also don’t know if it was heavily reformulated; the current version looks like it’s still a beast. Peach is the king of the opening—a powdery peach that at first reminded me a lot of Lancôme’s Tresor, though that memory fades quickly. The opening also has a high dose of coconut and ylang-ylang, giving it that characteristic beach sunscreen aroma. One might think it would stay there, but over time it changes into a scent where vanilla, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang dominate from start to finish. The last hours are a wonderful, extremely powdery, creamy, and dense experience, like butter (8 hours after application). Longevity is very important; it never drops below 12 solid hours, plus it has a minimum 6-hour projection and a brutal sillage that announces your arrival. Usable only in cold weather; in summer, it could exterminate everyone. I find it more wearable in the afternoon and evening; I skip it during the day because it can be too much. I don’t see it as unisex at all; it seems very much for women. I’ve used it a couple of times and haven’t received bad comments, but it’s true that I don’t feel comfortable with it. This fragrance is muuuuch rich; the new reformulated version tends to be a bit lighter and more wearable. I smell the coconut more present, along with vanilla, peach, and ylang-ylang, which are the stars of this delicious fragrance. Sandalwood and rose give it that powdery touch while also being somewhat sensual. It’s a mature perfume, for those over 28, with barbaric longevity and the same for its sillage. I’ll always buy it.

Affordable perfumes don’t necessarily have lower quality; quite the opposite. You can often find tiny olfactory gems at phenomenal prices. When it comes to good perfumes suitable for any budget, I can’t help but mention Avon Far Away, incredible in terms of value. What makes it special? It’s a vintage classic with a complex profile: sweet vanilla illuminated by white flowers and an oriental woody base. There’s nostalgia, but in the sense of a true classic that brings the distant close. The surprising part is the sillage and persistence, which are very high. It starts sweet but not too much, smelling of jasmine and peach. Two or three sprays are enough; the sillage is impressive. I love feeling the power of a fragrance that flows and floods everything without hesitation—something I miss in so many perfumes that cost 15 times more. I wish there was a men’s version because this one is for a lady to wear and literally kiss. The magic isn’t just power, but also balance; the powdery part is sweetened by vanilla and coconut without becoming cloying. Pleasant fresh peach notes mixed with exotic coconut, and an elegant base with amber and woody nuances. Ladies, don’t judge by the name or price; approach this heavy floral fragrance with incredible sillage without prejudice. It’s a beautiful mix of jasmine, vanilla, peach, and orange blossom with a warmth that will leave you speechless. A hidden gem, a true gift at this price.

  • Cherrylicious

It has excellent quality and is super recognizable; I smelled it on so many people I didn’t buy it again, but maybe now that I don’t smell it on others as much, I’ll buy it, because it’s the powdery type I like—even leaving a talc effect on the skin—and it has an impressive sillage.

  • I bought Avon’s Far Away in travel size, and my first impression was so bad I was glad I didn’t buy the 50ml version; it has a potent spicy opening, like cloves, but quickly turns powdery and floral—so delicious, like expensive makeup and giant tulle powder. I was surprised by that transition into an elegant, vanilla, white gardenia, and karura flower scent; powdery, classic, with the depth of ylang-ylang. It transported me back to childhood, to my elegant aunt’s perfume. I admit the base is beautiful, though I don’t smell the coconut. The first impression overwhelmed me, but it only took two uses to fall in love, and I love it more each time; I can’t stop smelling that beautiful dry-down. It’s an misunderstood gem with longevity and sillage that any designer perfume would envy, and Avon is unbeatable in quality-to-cost ratio. If you can try it, give it a chance. Who will like it: lovers of classic, warm spicy perfumes.

  • Incredible and mysterious. At first, I saw it as a classic, but researching its composition surprised me with the blend of notes and sparked my curiosity. I spent days trying to identify them without success until I detected the dominant ones: sweet jasmine and ylang-ylang. It’s penetrating, delicious, cheerful, strong, and full of personality. The powdery base is soft. The surprises were the sillage and longevity: in the places I was, people commented on a very noticeable perfume that lingered in the air, and 11 hours later, I never stopped smelling it. Finally, the coconut appeared. It’s an excellent perfume; like the rest of the Far Away family, it shares great longevity and sillage. This note combination is a masterpiece that I’ll continue to enjoy for its irreverence. I loved it.

  • I tried it before in deodorant and cologne form and thought it was exquisite. Now I’m thinking about buying the perfume, even though some say it smells like Natura’s classic Kriska (which I don’t like). To me, it smells powdery, but a strong powder scent that doesn’t quite make sense to my nose, the opposite of Far Away. I remember it with a rich aroma, something I’d love to smell all day.

  • I’m surprised I haven’t mentioned Avon’s Far Away before; it’s been my mom’s favorite for ages, and I smell it all the time. Unlike other scents I love on her but can’t wear myself, I adore this one. It’s a potent floral-fruity blend with a delicious powdery touch and lots of vanilla. It has a vintage vibe, and because it’s so opulent, I wouldn’t recommend it blindly. It’s versatile for any season; even though it might seem like a winter scent, in summer its combination of jasmine, ylang-ylang, peach, and coconut is delicious. I love wearing it on warm nights for its tropical notes; it’s very sensual. It has notable sillage and lasts about 12 hours. It’s a must-have among affordable perfumes—elegant and full of personality, and you can find it cheap on Notino. The 30ml size is convenient for travel. Scent: 8/10, Longevity: 10/10, Sillage: 8/10, Value: 10/10, Versatility: 8/10, Packaging: 7/10. I would definitely buy it again.

  • anita1980

It’s an Avon classic that I’ve loved since I first tried it; I started wearing it at 25, and I think it really comes down to personal taste—I sometimes just really enjoy the classics. It has amazing longevity and is super powdery. I love it.

  • Rossadeena

I fell in love with this perfume despite some calling it outdated or powdery; to me, it’s pure elegance and takes me back to childhood, reminding me of a brand-new doll. I detect a very soft pink pepper note that perfectly balances the vanilla and ylang-ylang. The longevity and sillage are brutal—just two sprays last me 6-7 hours.

  • The perfume of my grandmother for all time; now she’s gifting it to my mother, and I’m dying to get rid of it. Thanks to it, I don’t like very vanilla or coconut-based perfumes in their notes; it’s too invasive.

  • I used to wear this fragrance, and I bought it for two reasons: I like it and it reminds me of her; I love it. It never goes out of style for my nose.

  • Out of three Avon perfumes I bought in my entire life, only one didn’t smell like an older lady. This purchase wasn’t even worth it. Another gift for my mother who likes perfumes like these.

  • I discovered this fragrance when I was young, and I agree with a comment I read that it’s unforgettable; it’s true it may be loved or hated, like any perfume. Initially, it’s not super delicious, not one of those that kill you, but after a while it leaves an exquisite scent. I still haven’t defined if it gives me a headache, I hope not because I’m very pleased with this fragrance; I remembered it and it was exactly the smell I felt as a little girl. I like sweet perfumes, and this exceeded my expectations. It reminds me of the Lou Lou talc (which I don’t like), but this has that sweet sparkle, at least that’s my perception.

  • Jassiel Peguero

I don’t smell any coconut in this at all. I’ve looked for it, but no, I don’t perceive it. I smell the flowers, osmanthus, and the dry down. The opening is just ylang-ylang with peach. I’m fascinated by it. It makes me feel elegantly good.

  • This perfume and Lou Lou by Cacharel were the ones that developed my taste for pleasantly vanilla and gourmand floral scents, a very warm aroma. I remember it back in ’95 smelling very different from everything else used at the time; what caught my attention most was the longevity—when I returned from school after about nine hours, it was still there. I think it made me want to buy it again.

  • I knew this fragrance as a girl in the 90s or early 2000s. When I smelled it on someone else, I loved it. I bought it and was happy until one day, with a headache, I couldn’t tolerate it, and from then on, smelling it overwhelmed me. Quite sweet and a bit generic.

  • Although I’ve never been a fan of catalog or famous perfumes and never had any from Avon before, this time I confess that Far Away and Imari Corset left me breathless. I can’t let go; these are the ones I have and the first I bought as a collector since childhood. Far Away hypnotizes me; it has incredible trail and longevity, it’s strong, so don’t overdo the spraying because it’s a bomb. In its notes, I enjoy the fusion of ylang-ylang, imagining it with Karoo flower because it’s so peculiar, something I’ve never heard of—I think it’s that flower combined with ylang-ylang, jasmine, and gardenia; when it dries down, it’s a powerful gourmand vanilla with hints of sandalwood and amber. I don’t detect the rest; they get lost before the potency of what I do smell. I just say that for those of us who like perfumes with coconut, ylang-ylang, vanilla, or edible scents like fine pastry, Far Away is totally for you. Great perfume with quality, trail, projection, longevity, and power. I recommend it widely; I lived underestimating Avon until I knew it, it’s like vintage jewels that are no longer found.

  • Benjamin Alamo - 1389

Avon has hidden gems, and this is one. I received it as a gift; it’s elegant, lasts a long time, and leaves a nice trail. What stands out most is the vanilla—it’s not gourmand at all, more like powdered vanilla with sandalwood; the violet makes its presence felt without being loud, helping the blend. It smells like makeup powder or lipstick, without iris. It’s beautiful for autumn evenings, addictive, and has great longevity. It lasts on clothes for over a week due to the quality. You have to try it because even though it’s sweet, it has that vintage accord. Highly recommended and it gets compliments.

  • Dani Mckill

I’m not sure if it’s just my nose, but I smell patchouli in this, which is the last thing I want. What is going on? 😞

  • Lady Wallis

Oh my goodness… Seeing this unlocked a memory. Far Away, my god… Has anyone in their life ever not owned this? I can’t believe it. Okay, straight to the point. It’s something I wouldn’t buy today or wear now, but my 15-year-old self would have loved it. I confess I once drenched myself in Far Away and overwhelmed everyone around me, and I don’t regret it 🧐 Today it’s far from the scents I seek, but this proves we evolve and change with every stage. Hey! It was so cheap and lasted forever; unless you rubbed it in really well during your shower, it just wouldn’t leave. And its trail? Let’s talk about its trail? That knocks someone out with a sensitive sense of smell just by opening the door. And look at me now—discreet, seeking delicate scents. Back then, soaked in Far Away, everyone knew I’d arrived. Now, just kidding, it’s a high-performance, intense, and sweet perfume… I loved it back then. It brings back fun memories thinking about this bottle; I can even smell it without owning it 😜☺️

  • I bought this back in ’94 and it was different from perfumes of that era; everyone was wearing CK Escape. It’s exquisite, long-lasting, potent but not overwhelming, and addictive. An unforgettable and unmistakable fragrance. I never noticed the coconut; to me, it’s powdery vanilla with violet, subtlety accented by amber and rose.

  • lizzystm1

Definitely lordly, sweet, and powdery. It doesn’t have good longevity, as many reviews here mention—I wonder if they reformulated it. I had high expectations based on the comments, but it was a miss.

  • Maria Antonieta

One of my all-time favorite perfumes. It’s unmatched and not everyone gets it. I mostly smell orange, which I love—it’s like an orange soaked in musk, something unique I can’t quite describe. I also tried the Exotic (now discontinued) and it was delicious. Today I ordered the Far Away Glamour (the black bottle) based on reviews and scent combinations; I’m waiting to try it, but I know I won’t be disappointed since it’s from this line.

  • It’s my grandma’s perfume. It smells great because I associate it with her, and who doesn’t love their grandma? But I feel like it’s more of a ‘lady’ scent, not very youthful… though it’s not overly serious either.

  • I’m not a huge fan. I had it a while back—my mom used to wear it all the time. Last week, someone gifted me a bottle, so I decided to give it a shot. It’s strong and can be a bit overpowering, but hey… wearing it pushes me out of my olfactory comfort zone.

  • danzaesencia

I remember being a student and seeing Avon’s Far Away in the catalog, but I never ordered it back then because of the price. Finally, I caved in 2025, seduced by its olfactory journey and its creators, and I absolutely love it. It could be the mother of all Far Aways in the 21st century. If you don’t like vintage scents, stay away; you need a bold olfactory spirit to pull off this floral gem with vanilla, talc, and a delicious sandalwood that reminds me of Chanel’s LouLou, plus ylang-ylang. This fragrance, full of stories, has a permanent spot in my collection.

  • It’s a bouquet of sweet white flowers with a base of vanilla and violet talc. I find it elegant and lovely; the floral and sweet notes are perfectly balanced without being overwhelming. I think it works for any time of day or night.

  • Yesie Haned

I’m a guy and I remember 2004 when my friend showed it to me. At 36, I’ve finally cracked open a vintage 50ml bottle and I’m not ashamed to wear it—the scent is a solid 10/10. Nowadays, fragrances just can’t match its longevity and quality. It’s an absolute steal for everyone. Same goes for the vintage Gloria Vanderbilt, which I also love to wear lol.
