Descripción
Vibrant Leather Oud Extreme by Zara is a woody oriental fragrance for men. This 2025 creation from Zara is a new addition to the brand's catalog. Its olfactive journey begins with the freshness of davana, apple, and bergamot in the top notes; the heart reveals the depth of incense and jasmine; while the base anchors the composition with the intensity of oud wood, labdanum, and patchouli.

To sum up, it’s a Vibrant Leather with Oud, but they’ve given it a darker twist. At first, it smells like the original version but deeper, with that sweet amber touch. Then it gets very close to the Boss Absolu style (not a clone, though), featuring an elegant wood and patchouli base that keeps the sweetness and leather essence intact. It’s definitely for cold days; they launched it in summer, and it just doesn’t work with the heat. For the price, it’s a total hit.
It comes across a bit rancid, especially on my skin. I get the same vibe with the original VL Oud, though not with the Elixir. Otherwise, it’s a bomb that lasts forever. However, it feels like it doesn’t project well; with two sprays on the back of my hand, after passing water over it (no rubbing or soap) at the 2-hour mark, it’s almost gone. In contrast, in my travel atomizer, I can still smell it strongly after 48 hours. I see a lot of comparisons to Boss Bottled Absolu, but for me, they’re not alike. They follow a similar dark and deep path, but they’re distinct: I absolutely love Absolu and have it on my wishlist, whereas I wouldn’t buy this VL Oud Extreme even at a deep discount.
A Zara launch with its moments. The top and heart notes are rich and intentional, though there’s a slight synthetic edge and that typical ‘Zara dry-down.’ If I had to choose, I’d go a thousand times more with Zimaya Brave Heart (sweet and sexy) or Ghayath (woodier and elegant), as they are far richer and more potent.
Okay, the VL Ouds definitely have quality and are included, but none of them really grab me. The issue is that oud isn’t my strong note, so I’m off to a bad start. Plus, this isn’t beast mode oud; it’s more of a fairly smoky wood. The Extreme is potent, and I absolutely hate the opening—it blasts out with that ‘oud’ front and center. After about half an hour, maybe less, the VL DNA starts to show and it becomes much more wearable and enjoyable. For some reason, after a while, I notice the top notes more. It leaves an aroma that invites you to sniff out of curiosity, not because you like it. In short, I can’t stand the opening, I wouldn’t buy it. But if you enjoy this type of scent, it could be a gem.
A Zara launch that has its points. To be honest, I admit VL Oud has quality, but none of them really click with me. And fair warning, oud isn’t my strong suit, so I’m starting off on the wrong foot. Plus, in this one, the oud isn’t the beast; it’s just a fairly smoky wood. This Extreme is potent: the opening makes me gag, blasting out with that top-tier oud. After about half an hour, the VL DNA starts to show and it becomes more bearable, though strangely, I notice the opening notes even more as time goes on. Bottom line: I can’t handle the opening, I wouldn’t buy it, but if you love this style, it could be a gem.

When it dries down, it’s very similar to Lataffa’s Khalid perfume, from their line of weird and slightly pricier Emirati niche stuff. If you get the chance, compare them. The Lataffa one is harder to wear because of a strange metallic/rusty touch that I actually love; this one is easier to live with. Longevity and projection are very similar. And it has nothing to do with Boss Absolu; I own it and use it quite a bit, and I can assure you they have nothing in common.
Once it dries down, it’s eerily similar—very, very similar—to the Khalid perfume from Lataffa, from that line of quirky, slightly pricier Emirati niche scents. If you get the chance, compare them. The Lataffa version is a bit harder to wear because it has a strange metallic/rusty note that I personally love. This one is easier to wear. Longevity and projection are very comparable. And watch out: it doesn’t even remotely resemble Boss Absolu; I own it, use it regularly, and I can assure you they have nothing in common.
In my opinion, this is an absolute beast of a fragrance. It has some of the best longevity in my collection, which includes over 60 scents. I applied it yesterday at 4 PM, and by 10 PM it was still projecting after six hours—insane. The scent is distinctly Arab with a strong Oud presence. It’s not for everyone; I’d say it’s better suited for those over 30 and formal occasions. For me, it’s a 9 out of 10, and a perfect 10 for price-to-quality ratio.
In my opinion, what a beast! One of the longest-lasting perfumes in my collection of over 60. I wore it yesterday at 4 PM and it was still projecting at 10 PM; absolutely crazy. It smells great, very Arabic, with strong oud. It’s not for everyone; I’d say it’s for those over 30 and formal occasions. For me, it’s a 9 out of 10 and a 10 out of 10 for value.
Well, well… I tried this ‘Extreme’ version of VL Oud. The quality and longevity are very good, and the bottle is beautiful. The scent didn’t disappoint, but it doesn’t bring anything new. It has nothing to do with the original, the Elixir, or Hugo Boss Absolu (maybe in the dry down). It’s the base of the original at 10%, with maximum smoke, spicy, creamy, and a sweet touch; any Arabic perfume could be like that, but it doesn’t add anything new. I’ll stick with the original VL Oud (cleaner) and the Explosion and Extreme, which I actually enjoy. It’s a matter of taste; try a lot before buying and don’t let the hype from Zara-sponsored YouTubers lead you astray. Welcome to my channel!
Well… Bottled Absolu doesn’t seem to have ANYTHING to do with it. It’s a creamier Vibrant Leather, with lots of smoke and sweetness from the ladanum, with a very Arabic vibe. It’s a good perfume for its price, smells nice, has a slight development, and performs quite well, although I eventually sold it.
Excellent flanker that, more than a derivative, is an independent fragrance. Thanks to the success of Vibrant Leather, the best move was to make it commercial with a name that grabs attention. The opening reminds me of VL Oud but less mature or formal, and less vibrant in the oud. It offers a good contrast with the original, although this version has more declared notes: it’s complex, elegant, and casual. It has good presence, a smoky touch, and leaves a patchouli base. An aroma that’s not at all youthful but very fresh, evolving into something floral and fruity with blackcurrant notes. Great composition.
I’m blown away by the comparisons some people make. Either they don’t have a nose or they’re just voting to vote. This perfume has nothing to do with the VL Oud line; it’s an excellent inspiration for F. Malle’s Promise: it’s a Promise but much more wearable. I didn’t expect to see a Promise version at Zara; it was a pleasant surprise. I like it, though I’m not sure when to wear it. I ruled out the original Malle, but this one might make it into my collection because it’s kinder to wear and kinder to the wallet. A 300€ perfume that I almost never use wouldn’t be there just to broaden my spectrum, but this one, with its price, might actually end up there.
Normally, I’m not a fan of oud, and the ‘Vibrant Leather Oud’ line ironically lacks it, but this ‘Extreme’ has surprised me. The oud is very clean, nothing animalistic. The apple opening is very noticeable, and the best part is that it feels completely synthetic-free. Good longevity and lots of compliments; surprising that it’s from Zara.
I’m usually not a huge fan of oud, and Zara’s ‘Vibrant Leather Oud’ was ironically known for lacking that note entirely. But VL Oud Extreme has pleasantly surprised me; the oud is present but very clean, with zero animalic vibe. I also detect a pronounced apple opening that feels completely natural, not synthetic. Great longevity and I’ve gotten tons of compliments—it’s shocking that this is a Zara perfume.
I bought it blindly because of the hype around the ‘authentic’ oud, but the first spray on my arm seemed so repulsive that I threw the bottle away. I’d never felt something so ugly. However, once it cooled down, I thought I’d give it another shot. Once it settled, it wasn’t so bad, but I still don’t get it; it doesn’t smell like perfume, more like some weird cream or cheap deodorant. I’ll test it under controlled conditions, but for now, it just doesn’t sit right with me. If you’re thinking of buying it, go to Zara and smell it; you might end up throwing 22 euros in the trash. At least it’s cheap.
I bought this perfume blind based on the oud hype, something I’d never tried before, and everyone swore it was ‘authentic’ oud. I sprayed it on my forearm and the smell was so repulsive I threw the bottle in the trash. I’d never felt something so disgusting. But then I thought it wasn’t fair to judge it only by the opening, so I retrieved it to test the dry-down. Once it settled, it wasn’t quite as bad, but I still don’t get it. I don’t see anything pleasant about it; to me, it doesn’t smell like perfume, but rather some weird moisturizer or an AliExpress deodorant. I’ll try testing it in a controlled environment and asking for opinions, because maybe I’m just hating on it, but I’m not comfortable with the scent. If you’re thinking of buying it, go to Zara and test it yourself so you don’t waste 22 euros. Luckily it’s cheap, though this isn’t the first time I’ve bought blind and regretted it.
Totally agree with YOSEF. You can definitely sense the VL DNA, but with smoky touches, resinous woods, and a green nod from the patchouli without ever going earthy. A very solid flanker.
I tried the entire Zara men’s line, and this was the one that hooked me the most. The opening smells like green mango, perhaps due to the davana and apple blend—something fresh and different. Then a verdant patchouli emerges, keeping that fruitiness alive, followed by a creamy oud. It has nothing to do with Vibrant Leather or Aventus; it’s a slightly floral and incense-like oud that lasts for hours, even longer on clothes. I loved it for the price and elegance; it’s warm and mature. Go try it, it’s nothing like what I’m used to.
