I bought it for myself, but it suits a woman much better; for me, it’s perhaps too feminine. On them, it’s amazing, absolutely crazy.
This perfume is a gem. It smells deliciously of sweet woods. I definitely pick up on the spice of the pepper and the sweetness of the clove. A very rich and elegant perfume. I was looking among Jo Malone scents and can’t find anything similar; it’s a shame because Zara is about to remove it from their catalog.
Does anyone know if it’s been reformulated? I bought it again and I get the feeling it doesn’t smell the same or last as long as it did before.
What a perfume bomb! It’s a blast of woods and spices, I’m obsessed. The trail and longevity are top-notch. Good price for the quality, pity it’s no longer available.
I smelled this perfume in a Zara store without knowing it. I sprayed it on my wrist and thought it was very spicy, something peculiar but nothing wow. When I stepped outside and caught the dry-down, I absolutely loved that luxurious woody base and had to run back to buy it. To this day, it’s the perfume I’ve received the most compliments on; I love it so much.
I bought it based on reviews and recommendations from YouTube experts. It’s a subtle, green scent that leans fresh but has a sweet note. I think it reminds me of green tea with a bit of sugar. In terms of vibe, it transports me to a Holy Week day on the street with lots of people or maybe inside a church; it gives me a sense of familiarity. In conclusion, it’s not what I expected, maybe because I don’t like green or aquatic perfumes. I think it could be worn by both men and women, but it’s a subtle scent, not a masculine one. Regarding the recommendations, it’s not my taste; it doesn’t agree with me. If you don’t like infusions, you probably won’t like this.
THE BEST OF ZARA. To me, it smells like an expensive perfume, literally could be niche, and its performance is even better than some pricier ones. Smells super rich on wood, very cozy and elegant; I feel it could work for day or night. Even my sister, who doesn’t usually like perfumes, absolutely loved it.
An intense perfume, not quite my taste, though I know those who like Angel or Black Orchid might enjoy it. Smells citrusy like bitter tangerine peel, cloves, pepper, and a touch of wood, maybe vetiver at the start. For me, it’s unisex, leaning masculine. The longevity is excellent, I’d say 8 hours or more, and the projection is extensive too. Great price for these characteristics.
From my perspective, this is the best from Zara, and I’ve smelled almost everything they have. It could easily be signed by Essential Parfums or some niche house. Mysterious, sexy, warm, and luxurious; it smells expensive, and that’s the vibe. On a date with Erba Pura, the girl asked what I had on my wrist and said it smelled incredible; it was Ebony Wood from the morning. I told her if she preferred the one on my neck, she said no way, that the good one was definitely the wrist. Not much more to say. EDIT: I had an old flat bottle from 2022 (90ml). Now I have a new round bottle from 2024 (100ml), and yes, the scent has changed. The opening hits hard with green notes and doesn’t smell as expensive anymore. I don’t know if Zara messed it up or if I need to wait years for it to mature, but what a disappointment.
Perfume bomb! I’m down to the last bit and it’s sad to think it’s running out. A delightful surprise, for sure. Warm, woody, and delicious on the skin; when I wear it, I imagine myself by a fireplace reading or sipping coffee with a coat on. I’m not usually a fan of woodsy scents, but this blind buy was a 100% hit. Lasts about 4 or 5 hours on the skin, and on clothes? You don’t even need to tell me. I see it as unisex, perfect for day or night, and especially for cold weather: pure bliss.
Amazing perfume!!! For me, the best from Zara, along with Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes. A masterpiece by Jo Malone. Very versatile; I use it almost year-round. A true gem.
Don’t buy the 2024 version without testing the tester first… it smells the same… but after half an hour, the scent starts to change, and by an hour, it’s barely perceptible… at least to my nose… a real shame since it was in my top 10 Zara picks.
Hi. I think Ebony Wood is the highest-quality perfume Zara has ever offered, especially in collaboration with the great perfumer Jo Malone. I had it during my more floral-fruit phase, and even though it didn’t bother me, I got rid of it. Now that I’ve learned to appreciate warm and woody scents too, I regret it. I agree with some opinions that the 2024 version isn’t the same. Cheers.
If you loved Nobody Knows as much as I did, but couldn’t find it when trying to buy it again, grab this one. It’s practically the same, but with double the sillage and longevity. It seems Zara will keep it permanently since it just came back to stores in both Europe and Latin America. Note: I bought the one that recently returned to stores, and it has brutal longevity and sillage. It doesn’t smell like a Zara perfume but rather a niche one due to its uncommon scent. However… Le Mâle Pride 2024 also resembles it a lot, but I feel it has less skin longevity.
A comforting vibe from Gentle Fluidity Gold. Ebony Wood shares countless notes with Gentle Fluidity Gold and has the same elegant, medicinal vibe. I sense it more medicinal than woody. Along with rose, sandalwood, tonka, and amber, Malone adds clove and pink pepper. There’s orange blossom and bergamot, but no tobacco flower and no blackcurrant. It also shares cedar, praline, pear, coconut, and lavender. Without cinnamon, but with vetiver, orchid, and iris. With all this, Ebony Wood keeps the rarity of Gentle Fluidity Gold in a more versatile version. It’s fun that a Malone perfume has the vibe of one by master Francis Kurkdjian.
I bought it blindly based on reviews. It’s a pleasant aroma; at first, it’s very green and fresh, reminding me of the forest and grass. After a while, personally, it smells like crushed sugar buñuelos with piloncillo turned into perfume—sweetish. Honestly, it projects a lot and smells strong, but I ended up gifting it to my mom. I feel Ebony Woods suits mature people better; it’s beautiful and very calming.
Super fresh unisex perfume that everyone loves. Sparkling at first, then woody as it dries down. It’s a unique scent. I think it’s pricey for Zara, but it doesn’t ship to Argentina. The pepper is present, along with the ebony. The sparkly opening confuses me with juicy passion fruit or a citrus fruit sorbet; it’s indescribable. Love at first sniff.
I can detect ebony, then pepper, and although it’s not listed, I also smell orange blossom. It’s intense. After two hours, I sense orange blossom and sugar, like an orange grove with green shoots and a citrus dessert.
Smells terrible at first, then it gets better, but it still doesn’t feel like a pleasant perfume to wear.
Such a great scent! It smells super fresh, with fine wood notes. It’s a cozy fragrance at the same time, yet fresh. A lovely surprise.
I have a small Zara collection and I keep growing it because they are clones or duplicates of other fragrances. Zara usually has weak performance, although there are exceptions. Ebony Wood is one of the few with moderate performance. It smells rich, fresh, citrusy, and green at the start, like tea. Some say it smells like medicine, but that’s just the opening; when it settles, the base and heart shine: citrus wood, sweet and spicy. It becomes a high-class scent. The subtlety invites people to sniff you, and it’s very different from designer or niche perfumes. I think Jo Malone made a great creation. It’s unique. It met my expectations and I received compliments without asking, even a colleague wanted a sample. It smells unisex, opening more masculine, dry-down mostly unisex. On my skin it lasted 8 hours, on a shirt it’s noticeable the next day. The projection was two meters at the start, dropping to a personal bubble by the fifth hour. A lady smelled my neck at 7 hours and it fascinated her. One of the best compliments: an action is worth more than a thousand words. For me, it’s one of the best of Zara. If I were to rate it 10: Scent 10, Projection 9.5, Sillage 9. Overall, 9.5. Tremendous perfume. 95 points for Jo Malone and to Zara.
It’s unique. I was very happy it came back, I was waiting for it with anticipation. It’s a gem that doesn’t envy anything from a niche; for me, it’s the best of Zara. Sadly, they reformulated it in 2024 with a citrus opening it didn’t have before, although it retains 80% of the original DNA. I hope they bring it back just like the first edition.
If I have to say something, it’s rich and mysterious, especially as it evolves. It’s unisex, perhaps with a slightly feminine touch.
It reminds me of the discontinued Nobody Knows. Here, cypress and grapefruit dominate the opening, which lasts half an hour before drying and letting the clove and ebony appear. I don’t agree with Fragrantica; they must be referring to the old version. The brand says ebony, pink pepper, and clove. They should update the catalog. I already want the Elixir version, which I’m sure I’ll buy. It’s aromatic, green, and spicy, very different from my collection, which is already quite large.
It smells like acidic fruit at first, nothing citrusy, and then it becomes mysterious, dry, and with green nuances. It’s sweet and semi-floral, simply a niche Jo Malone in a Zara bottle.
Finally, I got to smell this perfume and honestly, it didn’t say anything to me, neither elegant, nor anything like that; I felt a green, spicy, woody, and weird perfume, with a note I don’t like. Luckily, I didn’t let myself be carried away by the hype of ‘very good guys and girls, welcome to my channel!’. Edit after drying and feeling that I know this scent from somewhere: in the dry down it’s The Secret Temptation by AB but without the vanilla and with the same poor longevity.
It smells like those spiced and special scents from the 70s, 80s, and 90s; my mind goes back to those years with a sense of well-being. This Ebony is discounted a thousand times, and that’s what makes it special. I like it 👍, it’s the past returning, adapting to the present.
I smelled this gem because I saw many videos about it. I have a sensitivity to scents, I don’t use ‘Piri bisquir cimplidis’ (please, think better). If not, for the experience you can come to have. With that said, Ebony Wood is a introspective gem, totally addictive, sweet, spicy, spiced, quite different. It’s a scent you won’t find anywhere else, it feels like it comes from a force of nature. My usage occasions would be related to introspective things, thinking, calm: a trip to the mountain cabin, a chess tournament, an architecture presentation, going to the library, or art things to buy, museums, meetings at home with loved ones. I put this perfume on 4 sprays before guests arrived, then 30 minutes later another 6, so by the time they arrived at 6 pm, it lasted until 11 am the next day. It’s a unisex scent, I wouldn’t say it has a gender, but it’s not a masculine scent either; if you’re looking for that impression in the aroma, it’s not there, it’s a scent just to let the intellect and emotions out.
Sometimes the best finds don’t come from luxury counters or famous brands, but from unexpected places. That’s what happened with Ebony Wood, a fragrance I’d never heard of or seen hyped up. I’ll confess: my expectations were low because my past experiences with the brand made it seem ordinary. But I simply found it… or rather, it found me. In fact, my initial intention was to try another Zara recommendation that ended up lingering on the shelf. And so, by pure chance, I stumbled upon this creation, whose name suggested a dark, woody, and bold proposal. But what I found was something completely different… and for me, infinitely better. A pleasant surprise: on the opening, I felt a vibrant, almost sparkling herbal burst, and I thought: ‘basil, WTF!’. Although it’s not listed in its official pyramid, this aromatic impression is so vivid for me that I can’t help but associate it with basil. Perhaps due to the spiciness of the pink pepper (with clove nuances), a composition that intertwines with grapefruit and cypress, creating a spiced, fresh, and slightly wild opening. It’s precisely this facet that makes me see it as a masculine fragrance, although with an elegance that, like any good creation, could transcend genders. Herbal tones, a touch of bitterness, and a softly sweet base, like a resinous veil that balances the whole without being cloying. Some perceive a faint incense, or even a hidden balsamic accord between layers. It’s quite linear in character, but not therefore monotonous; its olfactory signature remains vibrant and present from start to finish. This richness of nuances—spicy, dry, sweet, herbal, bitter—gives it an unexpected depth for its price range, making it one of the most interesting proposals in the collection, honestly, the most elegant in the entire brand catalog. Ideal for autumn and winter, though it can also shine on cool nights of any season. But the most striking thing isn’t just its unexpected character, but the quality it conveys. It has body, it has intention, and it possesses an olfactory signature that, if you didn’t know it came from Zara, you could attribute it to a niche house. And the best part: its price is almost symbolic for what it offers. Thanks to Joanne Malone’s talent, Zara has found its own voice in perfumery. I hope they continue these collaborations! Although I suspect they will sell out soon and won’t be restocked.
Ebony Wood by Zara is the perfect fragrance if you like the idea of a freshly brewed coffee on a cold day. It’s spicy and woody with a coffee touch that makes it special and addictive. Ideal for autumn and winter due to its warmth, but I’d use it all year round. It’s an enveloping scent that makes you feel comfortable, perfect for everyday wear and work. Unisex, ideal for anyone with a casual and modern style.
It really hooks me, even though I’m not usually a fan of sweet perfumes. It smells like fresh guava or that sweet guava preserve I love so much.
With this fragrance, Jo won my heart and I started following the brand to see what other hidden gems it has. It was my daily winter perfume, ideal for cold days when you need a warm hug. The spicy grapefruit opening lasts just enough for a warm welcome. Then comes the coffee, necessary in the cold, but the vetiver keeps it fresh. I appreciate the vetiver because it alleviates the background patchouli. It smells expensive, distinct, and not for every nose.
I promised myself I wouldn’t try any more Zara perfumes due to performance and scent, until I got a vial of Ebony Wood as a gift from an online purchase. As soon as I applied it, I felt the need to own the bottle. It’s addictive, delicate, and original, hard to associate with anything else. It has two phases: a citrus, sweet, and spicy opening that gives way to a light, sweet coffee mixed with woods. Everything is bright, soft, warm, and creamy, with an elegance rarely seen in low-cost fragrances. It’s versatile: I wouldn’t reserve it just for cold weather; its sweetness is delicate and the citrus note makes it suitable for a summer night. Performance is fair, but the scent is addictive and always worth it.
One of Zara’s that is definitely worth it. A particular and mysterious scent, reminds me of being in a forest. Worth the price in Europe, though it’s very expensive here in Argentina.
For me, it’s a 10. If it were only available at Jo Loves or in niche, they’d let me charge whatever I wanted. I don’t know if it’s inconsistency at Inditex, but it smells different on everyone. To me, the initial citrus note was shocking, but after macerating it for months, it fades away leaving a light, airy, and mysterious EDP based on cypress. The coffee is subtle, like a brief interlude, and pink pepper harmonizes with the cypress. The vetiver and patchouli give it a cliché ‘masculine’ touch, but this fragrance, though unisex, tends to be feminine. The vibe depends on who wears it, making it unique despite being from Zara. Good fixative, doesn’t bother clothes (unlike Cocoa & Latte). Beautiful projection: limited trail but natural. Longevity improves over time: an hour at first, now the whole day (8-10 hours). Price: went up from 25.95 to 29.95 euros, but it’s still a laugh compared to designers. It’s a hidden gem that Amancio Ortega distributes at a ridiculous price. Go to your Zara and try it.
Great perfume, although the opening isn’t the best: it’s sweet. But the dry-down is incredible: long-lasting, projects well, and smells different from what people usually wear. In Spain, it costs around 30 euros, a fantastic price. My advice: apply it 15 minutes before heading out. Everyone decides whether they like the opening or prefer to wait, but it’s subjective. 8/10.
I don’t like it. NEXT.
Very rich, green, fresh, and sweet. What I smell most is cypress; it smells like walking through a forest. On my skin, it lasts about 4 hours, but much longer on clothes. If you let it breathe for a few months, the longevity improves. I see it as versatile for all year round thanks to that fresh character. One of the best from Zara, even though most of their perfumes don’t last long.
Ebony Wood: Try it or sleep in it. At first, that bitter grapefruit blend with woody and coffee notes shocked me, but after 15 minutes, it becomes delicious and follows you all day. Dark, pure, and potent wood. The price is a steal; nothing compared to what designers charge for similar quality. It’s a complex and extravagant scent at first, but then you can’t help but fall in love with it.
Strong and brassy opening, but the dry-down is another story: aromatic with a creaminess that softens everything. Not my style, but it’s not bad. I see it as unisex and super versatile for day and night, especially in cold weather.
