Bought it blind from Spain to complete my Born in Roma collection; I was eager to try the special edition. To my nose, it smells identical to Ralph’s Club EDT. This is my initial take, but I’ll compare it with a sample I have to confirm.
My wife gifted it to me for Christmas. She chose it from several I let her smell. It’s a scent very similar to fabric softener, but it has worked very well for me, to the point that people have asked me what perfume I’m wearing to buy it. I use it for semi-formal to formal occasions; it’s clean and crisp.
My wife gifted it to me for Christmas after I let her choose from several options I made her smell. It smells like fabric softener, but it’s been a huge hit; people ask what I’m wearing so they can buy it. I wear it for semi-formal or formal occasions, and it gives off a clean, crisp vibe.
Buy blind without hesitation. I got it at the Liverpool store (Mexico). It opens with a fresh aromatic top that quickly takes you to emulate the fabric softener aroma directly; in short, that’s what it smells like. I think it’s a purchase only destined for collectors of the Born in Roma line. Regarding its similarity to Ralph’s Club or MYSLF, I disagree; personally, I prefer the Valentino. If I had to rate just the scent, it would be a 7/10: a scent that fulfills smelling good, but it doesn’t surprise you at all. In summary, it’s a ‘meh’, you don’t hate it but you’re not going to love it.
My wife gave it to me. On skin, the fabric softener note isn’t as strong; it has a potent citrus opening that quickly turns into a sweet, unknown note. It lasts 6-7 hours with good projection for the first 2-3. Curiously, a woman walked into my office saying ‘something smells rich,’ like banana body wash (lol, it doesn’t smell like bananas). UPDATE: After a year and a half, the scent improved significantly; the strong citrus opening is gone, and it now lasts over 8 hours. On skin, it’s a light sweetness, nothing cloying.
My wife just gifted it to me. On my skin, it doesn’t feel as similar to fabric softener; it has a potent, almost immediate citrus opening and quickly turns into a sweet aroma I can’t exactly identify. It lasts 6-7 hours, projecting for the first 2-3. Fun fact: a woman comes into the office and says ‘something smells really good’, like banana body (haha, it doesn’t smell like banana at all). UPDATE: After a year and a half, I used it again and the scent has improved quite a bit; the citrus opening isn’t as strong anymore, and longevity has increased to over 8 hours. On the skin, it no longer smells like fabric softener; now it’s a light sweet, not cloying.
It smells rich, but I agree the fabric softener note is very prominent. That’s why I think it might go unnoticed as a perfume. If you like clean laundry scents, this is your fragrance.
It smells very rich, but it’s true that the fabric softener scent is very noticeable. For that simple reason, I feel it might go unnoticed as a perfume. If you like crisp aromas, like clean laundry, it’s your fragrance.
I had the complete Born in Roma collection in front of me at a perfumery; I sprayed all of them on blotting papers for over half an hour. This was the one I liked most among the 3 I chose to test on my skin… but it was a disappointment when it dried down: it picked up an unpleasant odor with my pH that made me discard it instantly. Something that didn’t happen with the BIR Intense; that one passed the test, and I bought it. I’m not saying the BIR Rockstud Noir doesn’t smell good; on the contrary, on the blotter it was the one I liked most, but it doesn’t work on my skin, so I discarded it. If you have the opportunity, don’t buy blind and test first with your skin’s pH.
It feels fresh and pleasant, but its ideal use is very specific: it works best right after a shower and on a day at home, without going out or interacting with anyone. Even if you shower at night, applying it the next day conveys a renewed sense of cleanliness. However, the scent doesn’t fully convince me. To me, it smells too much like shower gel or fabric softener, something I personally find unattractive and even annoying. I don’t perceive it as a fragrance with character, but as a generic hygiene aroma. Honestly, I think it was a mistake to buy this decant at the start of my hobby. I think I was carried away by a YouTube review that, over time, I realized probably referred to a different Valentino. Nevertheless, I hope to finish the 10ml decant someday… and that it’s the last time I smell it 😅. My final rating is 6.1/10.

It reminds me of freshly cleaned public restrooms in a shopping mall; that’s its peculiar aroma. I bought it blind, applied it, and my first compliment was from a friend who said, ‘Friend… you smell like public restroom cleaner.’ I felt like a bath bomb… honestly, a letdown.

For those in Mexico, this fragrance smells like Suavitel mixed with floor cleaner. It’s not classist or from a bad person; literally, it smells too clean, like clean laundry, like an impeccable hotel room. It smells very fresh and good, lasting about 7 hours on my skin with good projection. It gets compliments, but also ‘anti-compliments’. It’s excellent for going to high school or university and smelling like a ‘Las Lomas kid’, haha. I feel there are better scents, so I don’t recommend it.
An elegant and modern masculine fragrance with a fresh yet characterful profile. It opens with citrus and aromatic notes that give a clean, vibrant sensation. As it evolves, subtle herbal and spicy nuances emerge, adding depth without losing freshness. The amber base provides a warm, sophisticated touch, making it highly versatile. It conveys confidence, style, and urban elegance. It’s not heavy, so it works great day or night for any occasion.
A UNIQUE TASTE: I have to admit, I didn’t buy it; someone gave me a sample and I loved it. I know it’s polarizing, but not because it’s bad, just because of personal taste. The opening is a bright citrus, a very pleasant bergamot (hence the floor cleaner comparisons). Then it shifts to something citrusy/floral. The sage creates an incredible effect between the sparkling bergamot and the ambergris. Imagine walking into a luxury hotel room: upon opening the door, it smells citrusy and clean; you lie down and feel a soft floral aroma that relaxes you. You take a shower and get back to bed; all those scents remain, but now you feel clean and the atmosphere is calm. I understand many won’t like it, but for me, it’s incredible, unique, and unfairly hated. The longevity is brutal, about 6 hours without issues, and the projection is acceptable throughout, staying on the skin until the 6th hour (too good for a fresh scent). It’s super versatile: day, night, all seasons. I wore it to a formal dinner and received compliments, also in daily life and several people liked it. Although it’s hard to find, if you get it, try it and decide for yourself. I guarantee you can take a wonderful surprise. Objectively my rating: Scent 9, Longevity 9, Projection 9, Total 9.
A PECULIAR TASTE: I must admit I didn’t buy it; someone gave me a sample, and I loved it. Reading reviews, yes, it’s polarizing, but not because it’s bad, just due to personal taste. The opening is a bright citrus, a very pleasant bergamot (which is why many compare it to floor cleaner). Then it shifts to something citrusy/floral. The sage creates an incredible effect between the sparkling bergamot and the ambergris. Imagine walking into a luxury hotel room: opening the door hits you with a rich, clean citrus aroma; you approach the bed and sense a soft floral scent that relaxes you. You take a shower and return to bed; all those scents remain, and you feel clean and in a calm environment. I understand why many dislike it, but for me, it’s incredible, unique, and unfairly hated. The longevity is excellent, about 6 hours without issues, and projection is acceptable throughout, staying close to the skin until the 6-hour mark (very good for a fresh fragrance). It’s super versatile; I wear it day and night, in spring, summer, fall, and winter. I wore it to a formal dinner and received many compliments, as well as in daily life where several people liked it. Although it’s hard to find, if you can get it, try it and decide for yourselves; I guarantee you can be pleasantly surprised. Objectively, my rating would be: Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Projection: 9, Total: 9.
