Reviewing a sample I was gifted. I don’t see gender in perfumes; it’s just crude marketing. Skin changes everything, so it’s interesting to see how a ‘feminine’ scent works on male skin. I liked Valentino, but for the wrong reasons: it reminded me of my family’s perfumes. It’s like if L’Imperatrice by D&G and Rochas Mademoiselle (pink) had a baby: fruity and sweet with kiwi (like D&G) that dries down to something caramelized on my male skin. It’s peculiar on a man, surprising as a non-intrusive daytime scent with short projection and medium 5-hour longevity. It doesn’t demand attention. With Valentino, I feel a bit lost, considering previous disastrous proposals like the linear and generic Born in Roma for men. This uncommon kiwi note might please some, so don’t be shy, try a couple of sprays, you might get hooked. Cheers! I wanted a very fruity summer perfume and chose this one. Born in Roma Coral Fantasy is a Caribbean fantasy. I’m impressed by the passion fruit, mango, fresh tangelo, and cedar notes. It’s cheerful, leaves a huge trail, and has fantastic longevity of about 8 hours. It’s like a frozen passion fruit sorbet, delicious. I recommend it for sunny days, spring, or summer—you’ll definitely get noticed. Deep and persistent trail for about 6 hours, with another 2 hours close to the skin. The bottle is gorgeous, a real personality statement.
