I bought it because it’s my mother’s favorite and it has become an essential wardrobe staple. It’s very fresh, very citrusy, and yuzu is the main note, smelling three times more than lemon, with a bitter, even metallic aroma that doesn’t disgust me; it reminds me of rice fields while Vietnamese children in white clothes play. It’s unisex but leans more towards men, it dries well, and its trail is soft. After being on the market for so many years, I don’t understand why it’s not talked about more, but it’s totally different from other citrus and aquatic perfumes; it has personality and freshness. Now, I’ve found people saying it smells like Nenuco, maybe because of the lemon, but it seems insulting to me. The price is very good, and I think the 200ml version is better because believe me, you’ll use it a lot.

  • White t-shirt and some wine on a terrace. A short plan because it lasts very little, what a shame since it smells so good.

It’s a rich fragrance. I think when I started buying perfumes with this one, I received my first compliment. The opening is rich, slightly powdery citrus, dominated by yuzu which makes it feel refreshing. I also like the nutmeg note, another element I perceive and love. Now, the downside is that this perfume lasts a breath; almost you have to put it on right before entering a room so it lasts, because after an hour and a half or two, you won’t smell anything, just skin scent, which is quite discouraging. If you can, get a decant before buying the full bottle.

  • I was looking for something in the CK One line and finally found it. So on point that even the longevity is equally or even scarcer. What a pity; I’ve heard so much about its great longevity until people here at Fragrantica voted it down, but forget it. Current batches barely last 2 hours and fade to skin scent immediately. As for the scent, it’s incredible—one of the best fresh citrus scents for summer—but I still don’t recommend it right now because, repeat: good luck if it lasts 2 hours. Go for the new L’Sel instead; it’s not similar, but for summer, I haven’t found anything as clean and long-lasting.

  • Forum comments never disappoint: complaints about poor longevity (what do you expect for €40 with a thousand ingredients?), claims it’s not for young people (as far as I know, it’s not Dandy Man), mentions of yuzu, and notes that everyone wears it… I won’t add anything new, but I encourage you to spend 100 bucks on Dior Cologne. Once you realize it’s half as good as this gem, come back and apologize for everything you’ve written.

  • It has an incredible, very rich scent. It’s a citrus that doesn’t resemble anything else. As a good EDT, it performs better if you apply a lot, around 9 to 10 sprays; I recommend the 125ml or 200ml bottles. For the first 3 hours you feel it at full blast, then it settles to skin scent and lasts another 3 hours. It’s very rich, unique, and fresh for the heat, but keep in mind it’s not invasive; it’s intimate, people smell it if they get close. But I reiterate, it’s a unique aroma. Highly recommended, especially in summer on those hot days.

  • Citrus and aquatic perfume with that typical retro touch from the nineties, fresh, slightly sweet, and with a faint trace of eighties masculinity. The combo of yuzu, verbena, calone, and cedar makes it a mix between two legends, Cool Water and Blenheim Bouquet, but with a distinctive touch that puts it above its contemporaries like Aqua di Gio or CK One. Why? Because it manages to interpret masculinity without resorting to the basic fougère structure. If you like the classic, retro, or vintage, I recommend it with my eyes closed.

It doesn’t get old on me. I tried it very late and regret not trying it sooner. In April, I bought the 200ml bottle for next summer, but since it got hot, I applied it to my clothes. I sprayed it on a white shirt 13 hours ago; it’s still there on my skin, though very close to the surface, and on the clothes, it keeps going. Highlight: I sprayed about 15 times on an immaculate white shirt. Applied at a reasonable distance like a ‘mist,’ it doesn’t stain anything. What to avoid is applying it too close, because the spray can be dense and leave marks.

  • I’ve used it enough to give an opinion. It’s a citrus-floral blend opening with a sparkling, acidic, and sour Yuzu, accompanied by bergamot and cypress. The heart smells like lotus flower with a woody touch; at the end, the lotus fades leaving a pleasant floral combination. The base is vetiver and musk, the rest is imperceptible. It’s elegant and bright, ideal for outdoor events in spring or summer (daytime only). The best part is the opening; those citrus notes are delicious and of great quality. The heart and base give a floral and clean result, nothing bad but not incredible. Good quality, rich scent for summer. Moderate projection and longevity. 7.5/10, I would buy it again.

What a beast of a perfume. I tried the 75ml and immediately swapped it for the 125ml. The citrus note is unique, nothing like anything else. The longevity is decent, though it could be better. Warning: don’t confuse this with the Eau de Parfum; it smells totally different and has nothing to do with this original. It’s timeless and highly recommended. The only downside is the sillage is terrible. Rating: 8.5/10. I love it, but I also love to smell like perfume, and this doesn’t let me down. It’s not as weak as an Acqua di Gio or a Ferrari Black, but it still leaves something to be desired.

Charming, fresh, floral, and citrusy—an olfactory work of art to savor. It’s a magical scent that makes you close your eyes and enjoy. The opening can be a bit sharp or aggressive at first, but once it dries down, it reveals all its beauty: clean, wearable, natural, and balanced. It’s among the best in perfumery. I smelled it on someone years ago, and it left a special mark. Yuzu is the star, like a dried, bitter orange peel that calms and leaves a soft base. Honestly, it’s in my top 3. What’s the downside? Maybe the performance; one wishes it lasted longer, but the beauty of the scent makes up for everything.

  • I have a dilemma with this fragrance: the opening doesn’t convince me, but once it dries, it’s the most addictive scent I know. The best part is when it lingers on clothes for days. If not for that opening that sometimes smells a bit old, it would be perfection in a bottle, because drying down feels like being in a garden next to a pond—so much peace.

  • DELICIOUS AND UNIQUE DNA. Smells like Japanese green tea soap with sandalwood and a citrus touch (fresh, floral, and slightly woody). Not a blind buy; it’s very ‘special’ and won’t appeal to everyone. Pity it doesn’t last; after an hour it’s close to the skin, and it’s gone in two or three hours. I keep a decant to reapply because I genuinely love it.

I stole my dad’s 200ml bottle 2-3 years ago, and he hasn’t seen it on his shelf since. L’Eau d’Issey is the citrus scent with its own DNA. Not Acqua di Gio, not CK One, not D&G Light Blue; you simply can’t find this anywhere else, and the price is outrageous. It smells fresh and citrusy, specifically like yuzu, the Japanese fruit that sets it apart. It projects well; it’s not the longest-lasting, but you can’t ask for too much from a citrus. It’s the key for everyday summer wear, giving vibes of a shirt, linen pants, sunglasses, and a stroll downtown. Definitely top-tier.

  • I just got this blind, and my expectations were just right—not too high, not too low, but I was intrigued by the reviews. Personally, I felt something magically different compared to everything I’ve tried. Sweet, it’s already in my bag for after-work use in the evenings. 10/10.

  • Great men’s perfume for daily wear, at the office, or on campus. A nice blend of citrus with yuzu. 9/10.

  • At first, it smells super clean, almost too much. It reminds me of a guy in a white shirt, light blue jeans, leather shoes, and an expensive watch—or even a steel Casio. Buy it blind if you like citrus, floral, and formal masculine scents. I’d wear it for errands, shopping, or the office. I don’t know yet how long it lasts on my skin, but I’m giving it 10/10.

  • metroidsoldier

It’s a version of the Yanbal 20S Paralel DNA, but without marine or grapefruit notes. This Issey Miyake version is more citrusy, blending yuzu, lemon, sandalwood, cypress, and calone for a fresh, formal scent perfect for any weather. The smell is almost identical to the 20S Paralel, but it stands out more than Acqua di Gio or CK One.

  • Smells great, but if you’re young, it might feel a bit dated given its release year. Still, if you love citrus and florals, it’s a fantastic choice for anyone over 25.

  • In Mexico, there’s a flower for the dead, the marigold; this perfume gives a slight touch of that flower, mixed with bitter and juicy citrus and a very noticeable woody base. Just like the flower, which represents light for souls, this fragrance is the light that guides eyes toward you. It’s a fine balance, luminous, fresh, and comforting. The scent is addictive; I use it more than usual and can’t resist every time I see it in the closet. It’s worth way more than its price.

  • It’s my favorite fragrance. I smelled it in 1998 and fell in love, even though I didn’t own it for years. It smells citrusy, bergamot and yuzu dominate; once it settles, it becomes soft with geranium and nutmeg. I love it, it’s for summer and lasts about 5 hours.

  • I like it, I’ve worn it for years. I have a collection of designer, niche, and some Arabic perfumes, but this gem is never missing; it’s what I started my journey into the world of perfumery with.

  • connaisseur du vignoble

The cologne is rich, smells like lemon. It’s a bit much at first but fades quickly. I like putting it on my neck so girls get close and smell it there, a total vibe.

  • Efrain Moises Garcia Deni

It smells like Issey Miyake, period. It smells like a perfume only they know how to make, their most free, fresh, and versatile essence. It’s citrus-woody but indescribable; it just smells like a great perfume. It’s my favorite; since I first smelled it, I was hooked, and now I just enjoy sniffing the cap. It lacks nothing; sillage and longevity are perfect for something fresh. 10/10.

  • Freshness from the first spray, clean and elegant. It’s the signature of many, perfect for the office. If you’re very young, you might not like it. In short, if you want to feel clean, elegant, and noticed, use it.

  • Nachoman2406

Summer is a bottle; I don’t see it as vintage at all. These are citrus notes that never go out of style.

  • Wow, this beast has been around for 700 years and it’s still absolutely delicious. It’s an elegant citrus bomb, like a businessman in a crisp shirt on a hot day. The projection and sillage are low, maybe an hour with some presence, lasting about 5 hours. Wear it less for the bar and more dressed up or stylish; you’ll definitely get compliments. 9/10.

  • One of the must-haves for summer; the Yuzu gives it that fresh, unique aroma this classic is known for. For the quality/price ratio, it’s among my best for hot days. As a cologne, the longevity is quite decent, between 5 and 6 hours. A total beast that’s way above Acqua di Gio, especially in longevity, since tastes are subjective.

  • The EsScential

What’s new in this marvel? From my first bottle in ’94 to this new one (I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve owned it), the reformulations haven’t touched its essence, just its longevity and trail, which were once exaggerated. Unlike the women’s version used in winter (which is strong but not suffocating), this one was too intense for spring/summer. Dialing down the intensity this much is almost a scam; Miyake scents have always been pricey but affordable, and this latest dilution doesn’t deliver what it’s worth. The scent remains the same, exquisite and unique (forget known citrus, this is something else), but on skin it lasts about 3 hours, a bit more if it’s very hot; on clothes it lasts days. The trail is half an hour and that’s it. If you can’t carry it and want to use it for a meeting, buy one of those pocket perfumers and apply it right when you arrive, or it’ll be wasted in transit. I’m going to buy one to keep, but it’ll be the last one I buy since I don’t think it will ever be what it was again.

  • DarksMartinez

When they say ‘clean scent,’ I imagine this fragrance; it’s literally its perfect definition for heat: soft, citrusy, clean, and elegant. The downside is its longevity, like most people say.

  • It was one of the first important perfumes I bought and I’ve been using it for over a decade. I’ve finished several bottles. It’s unique. That citrus opening, that aquatic-mineral character, that characteristic cleanliness… nothing else smells the same. I can’t go without it in summer. Literally. If I don’t have it, I feel like something’s missing from my collection. It’s fresh, elegant, and has personality. It can be piercing if overused, but applied well it’s a timeless masterpiece. It’s not a trendy perfume; it’s a classic with its own identity. For me, it will always have a fixed place.

  • Aka_Kaiser22

Honestly, I didn’t have many expectations; I read it was old-fashioned and short-lived, but I bought it at a trusted store for 28€ (75ml), so it wasn’t a risky bet. These days it has surprised me for the better. I’m not a fan of citrus, but here they are controlled and elegant. It’s enveloping, clean, and classic. Its weak points: with so many notes, once everything dries down it blends into a generic floral and the longevity suffers. The trail is weak; if you’re looking for presence, don’t look here. But for 28€, it’s a reliable, no-nonsense option for daily life. Citrus, floral, and clean. Not for blind buys, it’s for mature audiences, but I encourage you to try it.

  • Santiago1213

I’d been wanting to buy it for a while, only smelling it in a mall and liking it. Finally got it and loved it, but in seconds I knew I already owned it: it smells very similar to Maison Alhambra’s Aquilo.

  • I love it; it’s super delicious and perfect for hot weather. I liked it from the first spray, though it doesn’t last long on my skin and I have to reapply frequently. Curiously, some say it smells ‘old,’ but I’m obsessed with it and will buy it again when I run out.

  • Daniel Henderson 77

A spectacular fragrance that’s been on the market for years and still pleases. It’s fresh, clean, and summery. It has an astringent opening; the yuzu gives you a jolt, but a few seconds later those notes that make it super addictive kick in. It invites you to sniff yourself. It has good longevity on my skin and I enjoy it immensely. Along with Aqua di Gio EDT, it’s one of my favorites and the ones I used most in my youth (and not so much). Highly recommended.

  • Ideal for daytime, better in the morning than for cool evenings or night outs. Aside from the cider-like citrus, it reminds me a bit of Nautica Voyage but less synthetic. In shopping malls, it used to last hours; now my bottle lasts between 3 and 5 hours in a personal bubble; no complaint, just a fact. It’s not very long-lasting or projecty, which Arab perfumes have already gotten us used to. I bought it on Amazon for 633 Mexican pesos (125ml), a brutal deal compared to the ridiculous prices stores charge.

  • Daniel Fraganz

It’s my daily fragrance. Citrusy with that Yuzu touch (imagine a juicy, ripe grapefruit). Smells clean and aquatic, perfect for the office, college, or hanging out with friends. Totally recommended!
