Descripción
Only The Brave by Diesel is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2009, this composition was created by Alienor Massenet, Olivier Polge, and Pierre Wargnye. In its initial phase, the fragrance unveils a vibrant citrus accord featuring Amalfi lemon and mandarin. The heart reveals a floral and woody blend where violet, Virginia cedar, and coriander intertwine their scents. The base settles on a warm and persistent foundation of amber, leather, benzoin, French labdanum, and styrax.

It’s a sweet, amber, and undefined fragrance (not candy-like), quite versatile, with the same vibe as INVICTUS. It has a leather base with coriander and benzoin that give it a salty and spicy sensation interacting with the sweetness. It’s a pleasant aroma for most people, youthful, with soft projection and 4 to 5 hours of longevity on skin. If you like sweet aquatic fragrances or Invictus-style scents, you’ll love it. Ideal for summer and cool nights, suitable for romantic outings, casual hangouts with friends, and maybe the office.
It has a very citrusy, fresh, and pleasant opening that lasts about five minutes, then evolves into a much sweeter and spectacular aroma. Afterwards, in my perception, it ends up being an almost imperceptible iris base that you have to do miracles to notice. The longevity is under an hour, and the trail is laughable. I’ve given it many chances and I don’t recommend it.
I just bought it; I had tried it years ago and liked it, but wasn’t brave enough to buy it. Today, testing it on my skin, I felt it like a mix between Versace Pour Homme and Moschino Forever Sailing: the citrus opening of Versace and the dry-down of Moschino. Its projection is quite strong; I only applied one spray to my wrist and have been smelling the aroma with the same intensity for a couple of hours.
A good fragrance for a young person under 21; it’s sweet and very soft. The big problem is that it’s too weak in projection and lacks presence. It’s more for you to smell yourself, because it’s unlikely anyone else will smell it after 30 minutes of wearing it.
It’s a generic fragrance with the DNA of Paco Rabanne’s Invictus; my wife adores it and gifted it to me. Women who have smelled it on me have liked it too, and that’s what matters. It does its job, smells great, and is citrusy. Some previous reviews seem exaggerated to me; it’s not a bad smell at all, it’s reliable and people like it. The downside is it should last longer; it lasts days on clothes. I own over 50 perfumes, and this is in the top 3 for compliments… for those who care about compliments, take note of this humble Diesel.
It starts with powdery, sweet citrus that isn’t cloying, gradually evolving into an amber aroma with a pleasant touch of incense. In my opinion, it’s very well suited for a young, easy-to-wear, and unpretentious perfume. I even think it’s perfect for going out to a party.
It works for everything; it’s neither sweet nor citrusy. At first, it seemed generic (but of good quality), but over time I realized it’s a great perfume. I prefer sweet or citrus scents, but this is an excellent middle ground. I don’t like the bottle, but it doesn’t matter given the quality of the scent.
Same as the others: it smells good but isn’t special. It does the job and is meant for personal use. The trail and longevity are short; it goes unnoticed by everyone unless you spray it right in their face. It has an Invictus vibe, perhaps less sweet, ideal for under 23. Honestly, it lacks presence. I just finished my bottle and have no desire to buy it again.
It’s incredibly cheap (100ml for 20-25€ on Amazon) and I associate it with business, money, and sensuality. It smells amazing—fresh and sparkling at the start thanks to the citrus notes—but loses its punch quickly, settling into something soft yet present. Perfect for parties in enclosed spaces. Like with 1 Million, it’s a recurring purchase because of the price and the fact that it’s a dupe. Don’t call it ‘basic’ or ‘for beginners’; it’s still a top option ^^
It smells cheap and super sweet, with violet on overdrive. Great for daily wear and casual outfits, targeting a young crowd. However, the longevity and projection are terrible: it’s gone after an hour, and you have to invade someone’s personal space just for them to notice it.
Satisfying: Only the Brave is a citrus fragrance, a bit floral, feels modern, fresh, and youthful. Its longevity and sillage are very discreet, and its price is very accessible. Ideal for the office, after the gym, or a relaxed weekend. It’s very versatile and similar to Starwalker or Invictus. I see it as perfect for keeping in your backpack or gym bag. Would I buy it again? No, but it’s totally recommended, a good option within its segment.
What a beast of a perfume! Well, let’s start by saying I’m 20, so my review is based on how a young person uses perfume. This was my first perfume; I barely smelled it and said, ‘Whoa, this smells so good.’ To me, it smells like sweet ambered leather—that’s the summary of the aroma, an exquisite ambered leather that makes you want to eat it. I’ve received such good compliments that I’d wear it daily, but I won’t, to avoid getting tired of this exquisite scent. I’ve introduced this perfume to several friends, and they all say it smells great; for my partner, it’s in the top 3 of my collection. Something that is incredibly rich for youth. Now let’s talk about longevity and sillage: on my skin, it lasts about 6-8 hours with very good sillage for the first two hours. It gives great performance for the first hour, but by the third, it’s mostly close-to-the-skin; you have to reapply around the fourth hour, but it’s totally worth it. For normal use, I spray about 8 times and I’m more than covered. In summary, for youth, it’s an exquisite treat; I wouldn’t buy it if I were 30 or older, as it would look immature. It’s totally youthful, simply delicious. The performance at the beginning is very good and then acceptable, but considering its price, I got it for 20 lks (25 USD) for 75 ml, it’s totally worth it. I’m already on my second bottle.
This perfume disappointed me, to clarify, it was a gift. Seeing the bottle, I thought it would be masculine, but it’s more of a unisex; on my skin, its longevity is very fleeting and practically has no sillage. It’s an oriental woody fragrance where the top notes are dominated by citrus like lemon and mandarin, along with the exoticism of coriander. It evolves into a heart of violet leaves, rosemary, and labdanum, settling into a base of woody notes like cedar, amber, and leather. Similar to a shower gel.
Well, it’s proven that perfume reactions vary greatly from skin to skin. In my case, this perfume lasts forever. I sprayed it twice on my neck at 8 a.m., and now it’s 5 p.m., and I still smell it. So, I say it’s a bomb. I’m not good at distinguishing ingredients, but the sensation I perceive is a very sparkly, electric, spicy aroma (not sweet at all, as some say below). Regarding age, it’s not exclusively for young people (I’m 44). What you do need to know is when to use it. I recommend it for daytime, plus spring or summer. It’s not for blind buying, but it’s worth trying in a store because it’s totally different from the usual…
This fragrance is a wonder; it suits me very well for any occasion. Fresh, versatile, and best of all, it has great longevity. The first time I had it, it was a gift, and I bought it again a few years later. For me, wearing it has always been a success. Good scent, great longevity, and a good price. The best in its series.
Tsss! 👌🏼
This one is a real perfume… But watch out, only the grey liquid version. The blue one doesn’t even come close. It’s all about the styrax and the balanced combination with violet, mandarin, leather, benzoin, labdanum, and other notes. For me, when a perfume has a couple of these notes, it already feels good and rich in nuances. With this perfect assembly of notes, it’s impressive. You can tell this perfumery work was made for an anniversary and a special occasion. I just hope I can find this version for a long time and that not too many people realize the work these three great perfumers did. They’ve created a deep, citrusy, floral, ambered, fruity, and leathery aroma that doesn’t disappoint. An admirable execution, very well balanced and professional.
Sublime.
It doesn’t smell bad, but I’d rate it 25 or under. It’s good for beginners in perfumery because, even though it’s generic, it smells nice.
How do we start? It has a slightly ‘weird’ opening; to me, it smells like olive brine. I don’t know if others experience this, but once it dries down, everything changes: prominent incense, amber, and a citrusy orange/marinade touch. It’s deceiving at first glance—I don’t like it much at first, but the dry-down is frankly great. Definitely recommended for everyday wear.
A classic in youth fragrances, but like others from over 10 years ago, it doesn’t grab attention anymore.
I was gifted this fragrance for my birthday; personally, I don’t quite like its aroma since I hate the leather note almost entirely. I ended up gifting it away. It has an average longevity of about 6 hours; I feel it projects well only for the first hour, then it leaves a personal bubble. If you like leather and citrus, it could be your summer fragrance. The price here in Spain is quite good; I’ve seen 125ml for 43€ on Druni, so you can reapply throughout the day without it hurting your wallet.
Honestly, the scent isn’t the best out there, but it smells pretty good. As for the rest, I see it as versatile; it’s fine for practically any setting and works. It’s more for daily use or a slightly decent occasion, but nothing more. I see it working better at night, maybe, and on days with good temperature—not too hot and not too cold.
Hi everyone. I don’t know if it’s the coriander or the amber, but it has that smell that makes me nauseous, which I also find in The One by DYG. Honestly, I’m going to gift it away. I’m not saying it’s bad, I just don’t like it.
One of my first ‘decent’ fragrances. Good scent; it has a slightly sharp leather note thanks to the citrus notes. They stick quite well. Longevity and projection are moderate. I’m going against the grain by recommending it for winter or spring, at night, for crowded bars. You won’t smell like everyone else with their sweet spicy scent, and the leather will ensure you don’t stand out. Recommended for young college students.
A fresh fragrance that doesn’t offend anyone. Since I got it, I only wear it when I remember it.
Without a doubt, the best fragrance I’ve had so far. I bought it in the first batch and fell in love at first sight, but recent reformulations have destroyed it. When it launched, I had no choice but to welcome it. The subtle way it handles violet, leather, and Amalfi lime is unique. I can only say thanks to Diesel for releasing what is, to this day, the best fragrance I’ve held in my hands, counting designer, niche, and Middle Eastern scents. Totally nighttime and perfect for nights out; for the memories and affection it brings, I give it a 10/10.
This was my signature scent until late summer 2023. I think I went through 7 or 8 bottles and tried 3 flankers with their pros and cons (Sound, Spirit Intense, and Tattoo). For me, it was perfect and versatile, though over the years it caused olfactory fatigue, so I could only smell it on my clothes. It’s a blend of pleasant notes I particularly love: citrus in the opening, floral violet and woody cedar in the heart, but what stands out most is the amber and leather notes in the dry down on the skin. It made me feel ready and perfect for everyday life. The scent might resemble other casual blue fragrances (Pepe Jeans, BLEU, ALLURE), but it feels more youthful. I think it’s perfect for people between 20 and 30. Performance isn’t the best; it usually lasted 4 to 6 hours, but in the last bottles, it disappeared even sooner (maybe my nose got used to it). I don’t know if it’s still the same, but I don’t think it will improve unless they release a super INTENSE flanker. Projection isn’t amazing either; with 6 sprays, you reach about 1 to 1.5 meters max. For me, that didn’t matter since it was personal aromatherapy, not about getting compliments. Honestly, I think they’ll discontinue it; it’s been on the market for years, and I don’t know if Diesel wants to innovate or bury it. If you haven’t tried it, I don’t know what you’re waiting for, because the price has dropped significantly and it’s nothing generic. After so long, I decided to look for new perfumes that would make me feel the same or better; many surpass it, but I must give it its due credit for its scent after so many years with me. Like everything in life, there are stages, and the scent of Only the Brave remains as a memory of one of them.
It stayed with me through high school and part of college, the era when I barely paid attention to perfumes but still wanted to smell good. I remember compliments from classmates and great moments with this fragrance. I have a 2021 batch of 200ml at 25% concentration, and it doesn’t smell the same anymore—maybe due to maceration from not using it for two years. I remember it as more citrusy and less amber, but it remains a fragrance that delivers without being too flashy, at an absurdly low price compared to what it used to cost. Ideal for the office, school, or college. It doesn’t suffocate or bother anyone; it’s just for smelling good for a few hours without spending much.
Elegant perfume my sister gifted me for special occasions. It accompanied me through all of university—a citrus blend with cedar and leather notes that makes it very masculine without being overwhelming. Very good, though the longevity is weak; on my skin, it lasted about 4 hours. Recommended for any time of day or night. Rating: Sillage 7/10, Longevity 6/10, Scent 9/10.
My first quality perfume, one of my favorites, super versatile. You can wear it for sports or going out at night. It’s always available at a good price at duty-free shops.
A youthful citrus scent, really original. I wore it a lot in high school and it suits me well. I recommend it: good price, decent longevity, perfect for warm climates, ideal for travel, spring and summer dates, or daily wear. It’s versatile. 10/10. Great value for money.
Only The Brave by Diesel goes straight for the young, energetic crowd. The opening is vibrant, with lemon and tangerine giving it a synthetic but rich and sharp citrus kick, meant to grab attention immediately. It quickly moves into a denser phase with cedar and violet, adding body without being too serious. The leather, resin, and amber base reinforces that rugged intent, though everything is crafted to be easy to like. There aren’t many transitions or complexities; it maintains a linear, accessible, and easy-to-wear structure. Longevity is moderate (between three and five hours) with moderate projection at first. In short, it’s direct, modern, and perfect for casual use. It’s a great bet for an energetic, decisive crowd with a scent that matches that vibe. A solid choice for anyone seeking urban style with a youthful edge.
I picked it up at duty-free, as usual. Very good for everyday wear and sports considering the price I paid. It’s designed for young people.
I received it as a gift and what a surprise. It has a vibrant opening with lemon that transforms into something youthful, serious, and charming. The notes sound synthetic, but not in a bad way; on the contrary, it’s addictive. It lasts 7 to 8 hours on my skin and even longer on clothes. The bottle is aesthetically pleasing and the scent is very versatile. Definitely, the bottle doesn’t do the scent justice.
It was my first perfume. I loved it when I tried the 1ml sample, but honestly, it doesn’t have much longevity or projection.
It’s a 2009 classic that’s still on shelves because it has its fans, and I’m one of them. It’s accompanied me through many summers with its sweet, ambered citrus and lemon notes. It’s very easy to wear and refreshing. While it doesn’t last long, you can always top it up with a decant. For me, it’s a must-have; when I run out, I just buy another since it’s usually a good deal. Highly recommended.
That summer leather note is a gem; it’s a true classic worth every penny.
It sounds exactly like the interior of my dad’s car.
It smells very masculine and rich, though I have to say the price doesn’t quite match what you get. There are cheaper similar options out now, but if you decide to grab it, the scent won’t disappoint.
