Descripción

Sun di Gioia by Giorgio Armani is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2016, this composition was created by Marie Salamagne with the support of dsm-firmenich. The top notes unfold with freesia and bergamot; the heart reveals frangipani (plumeria, plumaria, atapaima), ylang-ylang, and sambac jasmine (sampaguita); and the base notes close with vanilla, ambroxan, benzoin, and iris.

  • It smells like sunscreen, exactly as it is. I liked it a lot. Although it’s not as intense, it still lasts on my skin; I tested it five hours ago. It’s quite sweet and more on the creamy side. Ideal for summer. During the day, I’d use sunscreen to go to the beach and at night Sun di Gioia to go out.

  • I bought it because of a promotion from my bank so I wouldn’t miss the chance to expand my collection. I didn’t have high expectations, and it was a wonderful surprise. It transports you to summery situations, it’s cheerful, neither heavy nor weak. The freesia and ylang ylang temper the citrus and the vanilla, which is always present in my perfumes, giving me exactly what I need. I love it for daytime wear, in all seasons, although in winter I prefer something with better longevity.

Sun di Gioia is one of the few flankers of Acqua di Gioia, a line that obviously draws inspiration from nature. Apart from that, talking about the intellectual depth of this line is unnecessary, especially considering that Sun di Gioia was a limited summer edition from 2016, immediately discontinued. Given Armani’s recent lack of creativity with cloying fragrances like Stronger With You, it didn’t seem lamentable. In short, I subscribe to the previous descriptions: it’s a warm, creamy, and cozy scent that reminds me of tanning lotion, with acidic bergamot notes at the start and woody streaks at the end. Essentially, it evolves little, limiting itself to being cozy with creamy and starchy vanilla, full of yellow and luminous accords. It’s not novel (if you’re looking for something more unique, try Elle L’amie by Lolita Lempicka), but it’s simple, conventional, comfortable, and relaxing. Although it’s for summer, it works in cold climates. I like it and it suits me, though it’s not transcendent or excessively exquisite, but it smells good. Sillage and longevity are average.

  • Very summery and tropical, an exotic floral. Smells like creamy frangipani mixed with the sweetness of vanilla (sometimes reminds me of marzipan), evoking the tropical scent of a sunscreen. Lasts quite a bit on the skin.

It’s rich and distinct from its sister, Sky. Sweet but not to the extreme, it has character. It’s more of a soft and moderate fragrance than an intense one.

  • I’m back to my Sensi de Armani years, my favorite essence that disappeared overnight. I searched in vain until a store offered me to try a new fragrance, ‘Sun of something’. I didn’t know the Gioia line and tried it with indifference, but upon smelling it, my eyes opened wide with happiness. It’s like a rehash of my Sensi, with small differences but the same base. Despite being expensive, I bought it a few days ago and have no regrets. Everyone asks what I’m wearing because it smells delicious. It’s sweet, rich, with moderate sillage but extraordinary longevity. I wear it in winter without any issues. Highly recommended: romantic, classy, a bit sexy, and suitable for everyday wear.

I loved it! If the sun had a scent, I’m sure it would be this. Super summery, comforting, feminine, and the aroma isn’t heavy, but it is long-lasting.

  • Sun di Gioia smells like a vacation, not like beach sunscreen. Sweet but not cloying, perfect for the first summer. Wearing it makes you feel like you’re on the beach soaking up the sun.

  • I always wear it, though I don’t see it as summery due to the vanilla, which doesn’t sit well with me in the heat. It’s ideal for other seasons. It smells like a soft tiare flower and vanilla, nothing too sweet or loud, but rather creamy and pleasant. Although it’s light, it lasts a long time on my skin and clothes until I wash them. Excellent longevity and moderate projection. When it dries down, it reminds me of Dior’s J’adore In Joy. Simple but worth it.

  • Sun di Giogia smells like vacation, not like those perfumes that smell like sunscreen. The scent is sweet but not cloying, perfect for the first summer; wearing it makes you feel like you’re on the beach soaking up the sun.

The king of the line. I bought three bottles when I found out it was being discontinued; a real shame from Armani. To me, it’s pure summer: cool mornings, sunshine, and the scent of sunscreen. Delicious, warm, but not overpowering. I can smell the florals, and even though it doesn’t have them, it reminds me of coconut; I always look for that touch, and the note blend in Sun makes me imagine it. Delicate and wearable. I wish it were more intense, but I’m fascinated by its aroma, and more strength might make it cloying. I take great care of it; there are few like this, perfect for summer without being citrusy.

I’m not sure if it’s discontinued, but in my city, I find it easily and cheaply. It’s a pleasant perfume, ideal for mild and hot days. On my skin, the ambroxan stands out with the creaminess of vanilla, coconut, and the tropical touch of frangipani, which dominates from the start. It’s sweet but balanced, with excellent projection and longevity. It smells like exotic flowers on a summer night. I like it; it’s luminous and reminiscent of Bronze Goddess by Estée Lauder from 2017, but this one is lighter and more oriental. Phenomenal for any age, best with a relaxed style, little clothing, beach, or pool. It gives the sensation of having applied luxury sunscreen. Creamy, buttery, ethereal, and long-lasting. Stunning for summer and any occasion.

  • I only tested it on paper; it smells warm, like sunscreen. It sounds the same to me as Monoi Tiki Tahiti by Tiare Flower.

  • I smelled it on blotter, liked it, and decided to buy it on an online sale. It smells good, but in my opinion, it’s not an elegant or special scent. The projection is decent, and the longevity is about 6 hours for me. I’m not sure which note it is, but this summer it became unbearable to wear on hot days, so I finally gifted it to my sister.

  • I tested it on paper, liked it, and picked it up online on sale. It smells good, but I don’t find it elegant or special. The projection is decent and it lasts about 6 hours. I don’t know which note it is, but this summer it made me feel hot, so I gave it to my sister.

  • I was eager to try Sun di Gioia because of the Fragrantica reviews; I saw it on the shelf at a perfumery and dove right into the tester. It smells creamy and fruity, a pleasant and simple fragrance. During the day, I kept sniffing my wrist because it gave me a total déjà vu; I was sure I hadn’t tried it before, but the scent was familiar… until I understood! It is exactly the same as Sun by Jeanne Arthes. If you like Sun di Gioia, grab a bottle of Sun by Jeanne Arthes; it costs ten times less.

  • I was dying to try Sun di Goia after reading reviews on Fragrantica, and when I saw it at the perfumerie, I jumped on the tester without hesitation. It smells creamy and fruity, very pleasant and simple. It opens citrusy with a powdery touch, but when it dries down, it leaves a rich, sweet vanilla. The problem is that on my skin, a salty note appears at the end that doesn’t convince me anymore. It lasts about two hours with good projection, then another two hours close to the skin, so I have to reapply several times a day. It reminds me of Olympea by Parfums de Marly, although Sun di Gioia is lighter.

  • Smells nice, light tropical floral and summery, with a sweet touch, vanilla, and a salty note from ambroxan. The trail is low, and its flaw is the longevity, at best about 3 hours. I use it in layering with other perfumes to give it more life, generally with Monolithe of coconut, honey, or jasmine. I stick with the original Acqua di Gioia (not reformulated). Scent 7/10, longevity 3/10, trail 4.5/10, value 3/10, versatility 2/10, packaging 6/10. Would I buy again? No.

  • I read a review and bought it blind. It was hard to find, but once I used it, I felt what they said: inspired by the sun. It smells like the beach (like sunscreen, but in a good way) and homey warmth, like baking with grandma. Everything shares the heat of the sun. It has an incredibly long lasting power; I kept smelling it even after showering; that warm, sweet scent makes you feel like a teenager on vacation.

  • I read a review about this perfume and decided to buy it blind. It was hard to find, but I managed to get it. When I used it, I definitely felt a bit of what I’d been reading… The fragrance is inspired by the sun, and that’s exactly what I felt. It’s warm, reminding me of a beach day (I’ve read people say it smells like sunscreen, well, yes, but in a totally positive way), but also a cozy home feeling, like baking a cake with grandma… I suppose all these things share the common factor of the heat radiating from the sun. It has incredible longevity; I kept smelling it even after showering, and that warm, sweet scent remained… making you feel like a teenager on vacation at the beach.

  • verdepensativo

The first perfume that reminds me of summer. It has an amber liquid that announces its warmth. It’s mature, warm, and hugging, like the sun and feet in the sand with bronzed skin. It’s carnal, with frangipani present all the time. Among the Armani Gioia scents, it’s one of the few without excessive sweetness; you can taste the salt here. Average projection for the first hour, then skin scent.

  • martesrosa

I bought it looking for Armani Code and was recommended this instead; I fell in love instantly. It’s sweet and warm, like being at the beach. I loved it so much I wanted to repurchase, but it was limited edition and it hurt. Does anyone know if there’s something similar?

  • One of my favorites; it doesn’t wear off and smells like coconut with fresh flowers, perfect for summer. It’s like a moist cake—I absolutely love it.
