I love it because it transports me back to my childhood: when I went to the pool and put on sunscreen, or in my house we had a rain jasmine (that’s how they call it in my country; it’s like a jasmine vine in spring that filled with flowers and released an exquisite perfume). That’s what I feel: jasmine with coconut and vanilla. Few achieve that effect of taking me on a trip back to my childhood just by smelling it. It’s the sun, spring, and summer trapped in a bottle, but not just that; its scent is natural, not synthetic at all.
One of my summer essentials. Incredible. The creamiest perfume I have. It resembles others… but for me, this one stands out for elegance; for example, compared to Monoi de Taiti or Sun by Nuxe (which are also great), but this one is much more elegant. To make it last longer… when I decide to wear it, I first pour a few drops of Yves Rocher Monoi oil on my arms and it lasts… about 4 hours more. For real!! I recommend trying it for those who complain about its longevity (I was the first). Also, that oil (which smells quite similar) is available in stores and online for at least 10 euros for 100 ml right here in my city.
It’s a magnificent summer sunset. It’s an impressive bouquet of flowers where the tiare shines above all the notes; its warmth embraces you and fills you with happiness. On my skin, it develops perfectly, it has good longevity and a sillage that satisfies me… normally all perfumes develop poorly on my skin, but this one, so criticized for short sillage, surprisingly works very well for me. I’m addicted to floral perfumes with personality, opulent, somewhat exaggerated, feminine, with a positive character… this one fulfills all my desires.
I bought it in December 2019; in my country, it’s summer. I waited a while to comment, and it’s truly excellent. I had tried other scents from this house that didn’t work for me, but this one is tremendously original, unlike anything else; it’s like a cream with exquisite tropical flowers, hard to describe. It’s soft, I think few people can smell it, and on its own it lasts 6 hours. It’s for any moment and season, I love it, I’d repeat. I’m someone who never repeats unless it’s my signature perfume (the only one I’ve repurchased three large bottles). 5/5/2025 I repeated, I’m getting the second bottle; I almost never repeat, but this one is worth it, it doesn’t resemble any white floral I own, and I have a thousand, I’m a fan, but this is my favorite; it has something magical that makes it addictive.
I loved it the moment I tested it and had to buy it. It’s easy to wear in summer, nothing heavy; it’s a summer blend of white flowers with coconut. It has moderate sillage and short longevity, but for summer, it’s good not to be too heavy… I recommend it.
A feminine summer fragrance. I tried it out of curiosity after reading that it reminds people of sunscreen, and indeed, the tiare is noticeable, but without falling into the cloyingness of sunscreens. It brings me memories of returning home from the beach at night and smelling the night flowers blooming. Very rich and subtle, I recommend it.
Excellent summer scent. On my skin, what stands out most is the tiare (without being intrusive) and, above all, the jasmine and ylang-ylang. I bought it blind and it’s one of my favorites this year.
I tested it on my skin in summer. The coconut stands out and I loved it; I added it to my must-have fragrance list. These Kings gifted it to me, and when I tried it in winter, I noticed the unique Guerlain jasmine more; as hours pass, an elegant and cozy vanilla emerges… I’m amazed by its versatility (on my skin). I love it.
Something strange happens to me with this fragrance. I bought it in winter, and unlike others, it’s a titan in terms of sillage and longevity. But it has a flaw: I feel like a walking jasmine bush. The jasmine is impressive and it almost disappears in the summer. In the heat, it’s more skin-close, enveloping, warm, with a sunscreen vibe, but in the cold, it’s a different perfume.
I was expecting a tropical scent with coconut and white flowers, but it was a total disappointment; I only notice the jasmine.
Coconut, jasmine, sunscreen with a jasmine scent, and tiare makeup take you on vacation with Terracotta. It’s an absolute summer butterfly, needing heat and sun to fly and evaporate showing off its full jasmine scale. Among summer vacation scents are petit grain, lemon, watermelon… and Guerlain’s Terracotta.
I was really eager to try this perfume, and had such high expectations about its scent that I even thought about buying it blind. Luckily I didn’t… it’s not that it smells bad; from my point of view, it smells weird. There’s a part of the scent I like and another that clashes a lot; it smells like SMOKE. Something that left me astonished from the very first try; I liked it but no, so I started searching for which note smelled like that, and it says it has solar notes. The idea is supposed to be that smelling it resembles the sensation of the sun heating up your skin in summer… But honestly, it smells like smoke to me, quite oppressive actually, and even though I love the notes, this perfume is definitely not for me.
For me, this is the scent of summer, something I knew clearly since I received it as a birthday gift in March. I’ve been using it a lot these last days when the evening falls during long walks where I get hit by bursts of this wonderful smell that Guerlain has managed to create between tiare flower, coconut, and jasmine. I know its longevity is that of an EDT, which is what it actually is, around 4 or 5 hours plus or minus, but if we choose moments of use where we won’t be outside for too many hours, like a walk or dinner, it becomes a wonderful, enveloping fragrance worth trying.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Guerlain’s bronzing powder, Thierry Wasser created this fragrance masterpiece that I’ve wanted for a long time until I finally got to buy it. I always heard it had a quite prominent coconut note, but personally, I hardly sense it, maybe just a slightly tropical note. This perfume perfectly reflects the color of its name. Terracotta is a jasmine goddess (hyper-realistic, felt from start to finish, dominating the fragrance alongside ylang-ylang) walking on golden sands in an idyllic resort filled with jasmine gardens and Ylang-Ylang trees. Far away, you sense that tropical breeze of coconut palms and a slight vanilla sweetness. A perfume born as a limited edition but destined to stay (apparently due to public acclaim), perfect to enjoy in summer since the heat enhances its beauty, though it can be perfectly used in fresh climates, just not very cold ones. It has very good longevity and moderate sillage but makes its presence felt constantly. Once again, Thierry Wasser’s mastery at the service of the legendary Guerlain house delivers a perfume worthy of its perfumery legacy.
I bought a decant because it was recommended to me as an excellent summer perfume with a coconut note. Turns out Terracotta is less about coconut and more of a JASMINE bomb, and a very realistic one. Maybe I perceive that note much more because I’m familiar with it (we have jasmine in my garden and I sometimes drink jasmine tea). Coconut is present but behind the jasmine, adding creaminess to the fragrance. It’s a sweet and soft perfume, but I insist, it’s jasmine from start to finish and of very good quality. If you like that flower, Terracotta could suit you well… It’s like approaching a jasmine bush on a hot spring day, with the sun enhancing the aroma and hints of pollen.
The opening is brutally rich, worth having just for that; it transports you to a distant island thanks to its explosive tiare. Then it blends with the other flowers, lowers its intensity, and becomes a creamy, elegant, and mature perfume. The only downside is that I don’t see it as either totally for summer, where I prefer fresher scents, nor do I find another season more appropriate; in short, I don’t see it as very versatile. But it’s still a resounding yes.
Jasmine lovers, this powerhouse perfume is a must-have. I’m fascinated; a couple of sprays on my forearms and I feel like I’m at the beach. These are the scents I love to feel on hot days, ones with that typical sunscreen touch. The opening is flooded with tiare, accompanied by coconut and a citrus spark from bergamot. As minutes pass, the white flowers emerge, jasmine and playful ylang ylang vie for the throne, with jasmine the clear winner, present throughout the fragrance’s development. The same goes for vanilla; although listed as a base note, I always sense it accompanying the jasmine, enveloping it with its sweetness. What a creamy fragrance, it makes me want to dip my feet in the sea and relax on hot sands, far from the city’s hustle.
An exotic, creamy perfume with warm oriental nuances and nothing refreshing. It’s not for summer or winter; it’s right in the middle. For me, it’s a sweet floral, rich in natural essences with sensual nuances. Perfect for evening wear in summer and spring, and great for daytime in winter and fall. The tropical tiare flower stands out combined with Ylang Ylang, but fresh—not steeped, but an aroma that hits you in the air next to the plant. It evolves into a vanilla oriental. Very feminine, suitable for a stylish woman in formal wear and out of place with summer clothes or short dresses. Better with suits or jeans and elegant blouses. A light oriental to wear comfortably on dates, outings with friends, or with a partner. It has a very pleasant sweetness and nothing synthetic. I like this perfume.
An intense jasmine breeze coming from a natural garden near the sea, warm and paradisiacal. Jasmynes with tiare, jasmynes with ylang, and sweet, creamy vanilla. A joyful, solar explosion of seduction. Imagine being near an island with turquoise water and skin the color of terracotta powder. Magnificent fragrance, I adored it.
I applied it and had to order another bottle within 10 minutes because it’s hard to find and I fell in love instantly. The only thing I’d ask for is more intensity and longevity, but honestly, I already have two bottles and it’s exceptionally delicious.
Perfumazoo! It’s for summer; I recommend people who haven’t liked it to try it in hot weather because it changes radically. If you test it in the cold, you’ll only notice pure jasmine with a hint of tiare, but in the heat, the vanilla and coconut come out, leaving an incredibly creamy and delicioussss… enchanting… scent.
Terracotta could be one of those feminine perfumes that smell like sunscreen and the beach, but despite belonging to that group, it has something that elevates it above the typical Monoi oil scent (probably due to that sweet creamy vanilla and ylang base). The opening is dominated by a vanilla tiare, which gives way, after a few hours, to an enveloping and clean jasmine, ending in a coconut-vanilla dry down that seems deliciously edible. Having tried it in various seasons, I believe the flowers are more prominent and last longer in the cold, while the coconut and vanilla stand out more when it gets hot. It projects very well throughout its duration, which exceeds 16 hours in warm weather. Although it evokes summer, I think the body and elegance of Terracotta make it suitable for all year and any occasion that isn’t sports-related, from a beach picnic to a cocktail party. It seems perfect as a signature perfume for anyone who loves smelling like the beach. I don’t think there’s anything that qualifies it as special, but it’s made very, very well, and I’m glad it’s part of my collection. Pleasant: 8/10 Interesting: 4/10 Versatile: 8/10 Original: 4/10
I’m writing this with a heavy heart because I really wanted to try it for this summer, but it was an outright failure. As soon as I applied it to my wrist, I felt a nauseating blast, like eating a raw egg yolk and getting sick (that’s why I avoid soft or poached eggs); that creamy, sticky viscosity makes me gag. I describe it this way because upon reaching my nose, I literally wanted to vomit. The tiare flower is so sharp it “eats” the coconut note, and the ylang-ylang “eats” everything else. In the end, it smells like clothes dried in the sun; probably the only thing I wanted to retry was for work or a trip to the coast at my parents’ house. But again, it’s a NO for me. I think my skin just can’t handle it, especially my nose. The worst part is that the longevity isn’t bad; I noticed it for easily 6 hours without getting close, then it stays skin-close. It doesn’t smell like sunscreen or anything summery to me at all, or maybe it has some creamy point, God knows. It’s a sensual scent; I wouldn’t say elegant but rather distinguished and good-tasting; I imagine a woman with a spectacular tan, long loose hair, at a sunset party in a cute white dress, drinking cocktails, and obviously not making her stomach turn. Luckily, I only bought a decant and it’s already forgotten in the drawer. I suggest trying before buying blind, because I don’t think it’s for everyone.
As I’ve been lately (a bit kamikaze on my part), I ordered it blind. When I opened it and smelled it, I almost fainted because the opening is super potent; luckily, it quickly transforms into a BEAUTIFUL scent. I love it, I got it right, it’s delicious. THAT SAID, THE OPENING IS INTENSE.
Sun, jasmine, and a hint of coconut… pure bliss. It’s absolutely delicate, elegant, and perfect. I picture it for summer afternoons and evenings. The blend of jasmine and white florals with the sweetness of coconut and vanilla is exquisite. I’ve loved it from day one and will forever.
I agree with @Jaionemaite3. The opening threw me off, but once it dries down, the scent is gorgeous and you can feel the Guerlain quality in every phase. It’s very elegant yet wearable. We’re in the middle of summer here. Although it’s creamy, controlling the sprays makes it work very well. To my taste, it’s exquisite and has good longevity for an EDT.
The opening is incredibly indolic. The jasmine hits hard if you smell it directly from the atomizer and the first few seconds after spraying. It’s true there’s a tiny unpleasant, very carnal note, but that scandalous white flower scent doesn’t last and on the skin you don’t feel anything. On my skin, I immediately sense the ylang-ylang and the coconut. It’s a perfume that, after the first impact, calms down and clings like a summer lotion. Its projection drops immediately within the first hour. I think it’s made for hot climates; I used it on cloudy days and it performed less than on sunny, hot days. Definitely not a beast perfume; that’s not its purpose. It has low to moderate sillage and lasts, if at all, 4 or 5 hours. What I like most is its dry down: resinous vanilla and Guerlain’s signature musk. It’s impossible for it to be from another brand with that finish. That resinous vanilla I love and that crunchy musk that does wonders on the skin. On the other hand, I don’t find it spectacular. I have Yves Rocher’s Plein Soleil, with neroli and ylang-ylang, and it smells very similar, just like the performance. Plus, it’s very close to the Monoi cologne from the same brand, which is already discontinued. There’s no need to hunt for it because there are other very similar fragrances that are worth more.
Simply delicious and pure Guerlain. It’s tropical, floral, coconut, and tiare, with memories of paradisiacal beaches, all balanced like a work of art. I’ve been looking for it for years, and although it’s hard to find, I didn’t want to buy it blindly. Now in summer, with the heat, it’s perfect. The jasmine is there but subtle, which I appreciate. I don’t detect any vanilla, orange blossom, or citrus. I’ve had it for less than a week and I’ve already received many compliments; with other good fragrances, that doesn’t happen. I barely notice it myself, but people who get close to me ask what miracle scent this is.
My queen fragrance for summer nights. Imagine an Andalusian courtyard full of whites: jasmine, tiare, and orange blossom. It’s a delight with a retro touch that is absolutely not annoying. A classic that never disappoints and lasts about 6 to 7 hours on my skin without any issues.
Pure jasmine! Always, there is no one who loves jasmine who stops to praise the scent.
Although Terracota smells more expensive than Yves Rocher’s Monoi, they are almost identical. I’m sticking with Monoi: it’s worth the price and it doesn’t have that overwhelming orange blossom note that suffocates me. Terracota just doesn’t work for me, I’m sorry.
Memories of summer when I was little, and my parents sent me to spend part of those endless school holidays with my grandparents. A small white house in an Andalusian coastal village, with a tiny patio full of ceramic pots overflowing with plants that my grandmother tended with care. All the neighboring patios were bursting with flowers, and women would chat their days away over low walls while watering their pots every afternoon. I especially remember with nostalgia the walk back from the beach with my grandfather as the sun began to set, filled with a wonderful array of scents from all the patios spilling out onto the street. Jasmine and orange blossom predominated, and as evening fell, the night-blooming jasmine, so typical of the south. Then, with my grandmother, still unwashed and covered in sea salt and sunscreen residue, late in the afternoon we’d pick the jasmine buds just about to open to place them all over the house to sleep protected from mosquitoes. Once everyone was thoroughly showered late at night, we’d enjoy outdoor summer movies, where the sea breeze mixed with the exquisite scent of summer flowers. Since then, jasmine has been my favorite scent, and those moments on the southern beaches with my grandparents are among my most cherished memories. That’s why this fragrance had to be at the top of my collection; discovering it has been a stroke of luck, and wearing it makes me feel all of that: the aroma of delicate white flowers, simple and enjoyed beach days, luminous summers, the sea breeze on August nights in coastal villages, and the warmest hugs I’ve ever received.
Top: Jasmine, Heart: Jasmine, Base: Jasmine. It smells literally like freshly cut pure jasmine, from start to finish. Where is the coconut-vanilla? Ideal for those who love jasmine; if you’re not a fan of this note, I don’t recommend it—you won’t be able to handle it. I like Terracotta, but I wouldn’t buy it; I feel there are better jasmine perfumes like L’Interdit, My Way, or Woman RL that suit my pH better. Sorry, Terracotta 🙁
Terracotta Le Parfum is another great creation by Thierry Wasser. It’s a solar fragrance with floral notes that aren’t always sunny, but this formula features sophisticated ingredients like Ylang-ylang, Sambac jasmine, orange blossom, and the distinguished Tiare flower. Definitely, it doesn’t open with a sparkling, cheerful burst. Terracotta opens warmly, representing the sun warming the skin (created in 2014 for the 30th anniversary of the Terracotta makeup line). It’s not just for summer; it’s a warm, sweet fragrance I also enjoy in autumn and sunny winter days, since the opening isn’t fresh—I barely detect the bergamot. Instead, its florality shines through, accompanied by an exquisite creaminess of coconut and Tiare flower (similar to Frangipani), combined with Ylang-ylang to make it even sunnier and warmer. Vanilla and musk make it wear beautifully on my skin, transporting me to walking along dunes on a sunny day or being inside an elegant, luxurious hotel in a tropical zone. This fragrance doesn’t represent a beach day, nor salty notes, nor sunscreen-scented sand. It’s not that kind of solar scent. Terracotta provides warmth. It’s a perfume that wraps you in a comforting sun embrace. The longevity on my skin is excellent, reaching 7-8 hours with moderate to light sillage. It’s simply charming. Soft, delicate, feminine, and very elegant.
At first, there’s something I can’t quite identify, but once it dries down, it smells literally like pure, realistic jasmine and orange blossom. It doesn’t smell like coconut, which disappointed me, but I’d still buy it because I’m a huge fan of white florals. The scent is so real it reminds me of a night walk through the streets of a beach town in Alicante or Murcia, bringing me immense happiness. Yes, I see it as a very refined perfume, not as carefree as I’d like.
A delicious perfume, with very realistic, natural, and fresh jasmines, ideal for hot weather. It accompanies without annoying. It’s not sweet. It could be an aroma for certain ages, over 30, but that’s subjective. What a pity it’s discontinued.
A delight this perfume, a beautiful jasmine! It’s not discontinued, it’s on a good price on Amazon.
There are no words in Spanish to describe my love for this perfume. Total madness. Fragrantica should have an option for ‘I’m fascinated,’ there’s no other way to qualify it; it was love at first sight. It’s exquisite, warm without being stifling, like wearing a fur stole around your neck. If I don’t use it, I feel naked and vulnerable. My mom has hundreds of jasmine plants; it’s my favorite flower, and I swear the jasmine in this perfume is EXACTLY the same. It’s like wearing a crown of freshly cut jasmine flowers with a bit of night dew, and the bergamot gives a small initial acidity that paves the way for the other scents (does that make sense? I don’t know, I lose my mind with this perfume). It has presence, so max three sprays, more and you’ll suffocate. It lasted me a good 8 hours and sometimes more; I took a shower and could still smell it. It has good sillage even at 4 hours; my friends smelled it without being close, long after I sprayed it. For some reason, it feels playful to me. It’s quite linear on my skin; I never feel the scents overlapping (which doesn’t bother me); they really highlight the jasmine, vanilla, and musk. I would buy it millions of times. I have. But it’s discontinued, so if I finish the bottle and can’t find more… I don’t know if I could recover psychologically.
Jasmine and nothing else… it brings back memories of my grandmother, her favorite flower, I remember it up to the sky! ❤️
Version 2024 ‘Les Legendaires’: Thick flowers! My husband noticed it instantly. It’s pure floral, hitting you with full-on Ylang Ylang at first, then sliding into a realistic jasmine with orange blossom notes. These are yellow and white flowers—dense, fleshy, and sweet in their own right, nothing like the vanilla base. They have that typical soapy nuance of these blooms, even a tiny acidic hint reminiscent of mothballs, but on skin it softens with coconut and vanilla, though they aren’t main notes; they just temper the aggression while the fragrance keeps its punch. After half an hour, hints of gardenia or tiaré emerge with a fruity sweetness. The feeling is warm and floral, yet neither fresh nor creamy like current trends. After five hours, the flowers blur and merge with a trail of ‘cooked vanilla’ that warms the skin. Is it a solar fragrance? No, unless you count exceptions. It doesn’t smell like the beach, but rather a dense jungle suffocated by the scent of these flowers (no green or earthy notes, just pure florals). I imagine an ancient palace with golden gardens, perhaps due to the bottle, but it evokes aristocratic elegance. It only resembles modern solar fragrances when it dries down completely. It doesn’t smell like sunscreen or a tropical coconut-vanilla blend, nor anything like Hawaiian Tropic. It just reminds me of Nivea Sun bronzer, but I’d need to smell it again to confirm. In short: it smells exotic, but not ‘tropical’ in the usual sense. Grandmother smell? I get it. I don’t disqualify it, but those opulent flowers can seem outdated or ‘older lady’ to some, just like Chanel No. 5 with its jasmine and ylang ylang. Terracotta isn’t inherently outdated; it’s timeless, just not youthful. Its virtue? It’s exuberant, high-quality, with realistic and sophisticated essences, full of character. It’s not ethereal; it makes a presence, projects sensuality and elegance. Ideal for special occasions, very luxurious. These are flowers in their densest facet; you need your boots on. If you moderate the applications, it becomes more subtle and refined. Intensity and longevity: Powerful and impactful opening that could turn people away, but it needs time to settle on skin, where it integrates and becomes warmer than on paper, which is more soapy. With such dense, non-volatile notes, it stays in a heavy 50 cm bubble. It doesn’t cause olfactory fatigue; it feels gentle. If the weather is mild, it’s not overwhelming; with heat or heavy layering, it might cause headaches. The next day, on the wrist, it still smells like clean, rich soap—more delicate than the opening, with the floral trail and typical white musk of ‘clean laundry’. Blind buy? NOT RECOMMENDED. I haven’t done this in ages; the idea of a realistic jasmine excited me, and the excellent price made me flip a coin, but I was surprised by how warm and punchy the flowers are from the start. I was thinking of a fresh, velvety gardenia and found something else. I might love it, but I’m still getting used to it since it’s outside my comfort zone. I value that it’s totally different from my other white florals (Pitanga Preta, Hollister Wave 2), which are fresh and creamy but nothing like this. It left me bewildered, for the better. It took me a while to decipher if I like it, love it, or am it throwing me off. I tried it every way, layered, even bathing to feel it from scratch, and I think it’s enjoyed more without over-applying or on extreme heat days. A fresh late afternoon breeze really elevates it; that’s the ideal setting. I’m satisfied with this version and love the bottle. I don’t know if the previous one was more potent, but for me, more power would be suffocating. I think it’s just right.
