Descripción

Sand Aoud by Mancera is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2011, this composition was created by perfumer Pierre Montale. The olfactory pyramid opens with top notes of spices and black currant; the heart reveals a harmony of incense, saffron, and rose; while the base settles on a foundation of oud wood, patchouli, vanilla, and white musk.

Who told you no to this gem? I guess they missed their shot. The opening is a chaos, but a storm promising something great. Once dried, it becomes pure bliss: realistic, spicy, and varied spices, like those on a market shelf. Maybe that’s why some can’t stand it, but not everything has to be marine fruits with ambroxan (thank the gods)! On the skin, you get incense and soft woods, with background flowers adding depth. The longer it wears, the more masculine it becomes; that woody, incense character reminds me of facets of Tom Ford Oud Wood and the legendary Amber Absolute. It lasts forever, powerful, and keeps projecting. It’s not as dense as Tom Ford, but it has its own charm and a price that isn’t disproportionate like “others”.

  • Spicy and fruity opening, ripe sweet fruit, cinnamon, clove, a spicy touch, saffron, and a very sexy warm amber. Patchouli sticks around until the end, giving power and green freshness, then a church incense appears—high quality, nothing musty. A subtle rose emerges, accompanying a creamy almond oud for a couple of hours, before vanilla takes over. It performs brilliantly, like a proper Mancera; don’t overapply or it becomes too noticeable. They say it resembles Amouage Jubilation XXV—I haven’t tried it—but it has the vibe of Interlude minus the heavy woods and animalic notes. It’s versatile for all seasons except intense heat, perfect for night and very seductive. I wouldn’t wear it to work because it’s too bold. Four sprays are more than enough. It leans masculine but is unisex; a woman would rock it perfectly. An incredible perfume with amazing longevity.
