Descripción
Eau de Lacoste L.12.12. Rouge by Lacoste Fragrances is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2012, this olfactory composition was created by Marypierre Julien. Upon release, the scent features mango, rooibos tea, and mandarin in the top notes; the heart reveals cardamom, pepper, and ginger; while the base settles on black acacia (robinia), woody notes, and benzoin.

I tried this perfume today, and it’s for young people around 20, with mango and tea as main notes, accompanied by cardamom, pepper, tangerine, and wood. The fixative is moderate, about 3 to 4 hours, less than other L-12.12 line scents. Overall, quite good; at times the mango reminds me of Paris Hilton for Men but softer. At the end, you feel intense tea and tangerine, though the tea doesn’t overpower the tangerine.
At first, I sensed a sweetness with an interesting note I believe is rooibos tea. After half an hour, I only faintly noticed the pepper and ginger. In the end, the benzoin and woody notes were also subtle. I agree with the previous review: it targets a young audience, like Lacoste usually does, but it has the same flaw: interesting top notes but poor sillage and longevity. Although in my case it lasted over 8 hours, the sillage dropped from moderate to soft within a couple of hours and then stayed skin-scent only. Another downside is the price; for $90 per 100 ml, you expect more. Despite being woody and spicy, it’s soft and suitable for all seasons. The top notes are good for evening wear, but they don’t last, and you need to reapply every two hours.
At first, I sensed sweetness with an interesting note I believe to be rooibos tea. After half an hour, I only faintly noticed the pepper and ginger. Finally, the benzoin and woody notes, also soft. I agree with the previous reviewer: it targets a young audience, like the usual Lacoste offerings, but shares the same flaw: interesting top notes but poor trail and longevity. In my case, it lasted over 8 hours, though the trail dropped from moderate to soft within a couple of hours before settling skin-scent. Another downside is the price; at $90 for 100 ml, one expects more. Despite being woody and spicy, it’s soft and suitable year-round. The top notes are good for night, but they don’t last, requiring reapplication every two hours.
In my opinion, I loved it; it’s neither weird nor fresh, maybe a bit sweet but not entirely, it simply smells good. On me, it lasted noticeably until the fourth hour, and between the fourth and sixth hour it started to fade. I felt the sillage was soft during the first hour, and afterwards it stuck to the skin. I’ve tried it several times because a relative owns it, but it seems very expensive to buy without thinking twice.
This perfume lasts almost nothing. It smells exquisite but lacks longevity, and the trail is very soft.
In my opinion, I loved it. It’s neither strange nor fresh, maybe a bit sweet but not entirely; it just smells great. On me, it lasted noticeably until the fourth hour, then started to fade between the fourth and sixth. The trail was soft for the first hour, after which it stayed close to the skin. I’ve tried it several times since a relative owns it, but it seems very expensive to buy without thinking twice.
This scent takes your breath away and makes you unforgettable, but as happens with the whole line, it lasts very little on the skin… what a shame.
This scent takes your breath away and makes you unforgettable, but like the rest of the line, it doesn’t last long on the skin… what a shame.
I fell for the marketing on this one. I was drawn in by its beautiful scent, but once I finally used it, it was imperceptible—even to me. I had to drench myself in it to get a moderate sillage lasting a maximum of 2 hours. I decided to sell it and buy something more durable before wasting my money on five applications (I exaggerate a bit). I just say that one day I wore it in winter while it was raining, and the sillage intensified. Would I buy it again? Definitely not, unless it’s half the price; otherwise, it’s not worth it. Scent: 10/10 Versatility: 7/10 Longevity: 2/10 Sillage: 2/10 Total: 5/10 Don’t waste your money unless it’s on sale for half price or less.
This fragrance has terrible longevity; within a couple of hours, my deodorant projects more than it does, so it’s only good for dates or quick errands. It has something that women love, but the awful projection ruins all the magic.
This perfume surprised me… It lasted 26 hours on my skin with a heavy sillage for 10 hours, absolutely crazy. I don’t know if they release batches with a softer or stronger scent. I tried it out of curiosity and just discovered an exceptional gem, maybe it’s just my skin… I’m not sure… I bought it and have no regrets; it performs phenomenally on me and is now one of my favorites.
My boyfriend tried it and we both liked the opening, but then it felt too sweet. An hour later, when he moved his arm inside the car, the scent came back, but it just didn’t work for me anymore.
My boyfriend tried it and we loved the opening, but later it felt too sweet… After an hour, while moving my arm inside the car, the scent reappeared, but it wasn’t to my liking anymore.
Horrible aquatic opening, reminds me of Cool Water or Versace Eau Fraiche—scents I can’t stand. It quickly turns into a sweet, pleasant, and soft mango, but you have to apply a ton to even smell it. The projection is terrible. It smells good, but I wouldn’t buy it.
The last one in the L.12.12 saga. Lacoste’s concept is ‘SPORTS’… The red and yellow are the weakest (max 2 hours) and least pleasant; blue and white are the best, black is the only one worth it. Red is fruity and sweet, lacking freshness, with citrus notes, kind of like Givenchy Rouge but watery and ‘sporty.’ If you’re looking for red, go for Givenchy, sure it’s not sporty, but at least they’re not pulling your leg with L.12.12. NOTE: WATCH YOUR MONEY, DON’T BUY BLINDLY.
To me, it smells weird. I own Polo Black and Double Black; they’re very similar due to the mango and tea notes, but Lacoste feels higher quality and spicier. Black is greener, Double is creamier, but all three have a phase where they smell almost identical. Unlike others claiming it doesn’t last, it hits me for 8 hours—a full workday, though projection is similar across all at about 2 hours, with Double being the worst. You need to put some on your clothes to make it last longer.
The last one… With this Rouge, I’m closing the Lacoste L.12.12 saga. The concept is ‘SPORTS’… The Red and Yellow versions are the weakest (lasting max 2 hours) and the least pleasant; the Blue and White are the best, and Black is the only one worth it. The Lacoste Red is fruity and very sweet, fresh but minimally so; you can detect citrus notes. It’s like the Givenchy Rouge but watery and ‘Sport’… If you’re looking for a RED scent, go for the Givenchy. Sure, it’s not Sport, but at least the L.12.12 Rouge won’t pull your leg. NOTE: WATCH YOUR MONEY, DON’T BUY THE LACOSTE LINE BLINDLY.
It smells like green apple. It has excellent sillage. It gives off a fresh daytime vibe. It can’t be missing on summer days. You won’t go unnoticed.
Green apple aroma. Excellent sillage. Fresh day vibe. A must-have for summer. You won’t go unnoticed.
It’s a fruity, slightly sweet fragrance with an average scent, but that’s all it is (there are much better citrus options in this price range). The longevity is extremely short and the sillage is pathetic, which ruins everything; I’m absolutely not going to spend $90 on such a simple thing.
It’s a fruity and sweet scent, mediocre at best, but that’s all it is (there are much better citrus options in its price range). The ridiculous longevity and near-zero sillage ruin everything. For real, I’m not dropping $90 on this simple thing.
Forget trusting any opinion on Lacoste or Polo; it’s always the same internet guy who can’t say anything beyond ‘it doesn’t last.’ It’s the same old story online, so don’t be surprised people don’t get these brands right. The narrative is identical.
