Another Inditex group copy, in this case Zara. It’s a clone of Dolce & Gabbana’s The One. Based on my in-store test on my arm, it lasts quite a while on the skin. I really liked it.

  • Yes, it’s quite similar to D&G’s The One. The difference is that Zara Black Amber doesn’t last more than 3 hours, and upon reapplication, the scent changes a bit, but it’s still a good alternative.

  • I disagree. Yes, it’s similar because vanilla dominates, but Zara’s is much sweeter than D&G’s and less intrusive. If I were to describe it, I’d say it’s very sugary vanilla with a distant floral touch.

  • Zara, in its quest to stay trendy, clones scents, and this one smells a lot like The One Eau de D&G, which is my absolute favorite. It doesn’t smell like amber, but rather peach with vanilla. Highly recommended and cheap. It lasts about 4 hours with a moderate sillage.

There’s a note I can’t quite identify that just doesn’t work for me; it feels overwhelming. I’ve read here that it’s very similar to The One, and honestly, I don’t like that one at all.

  • Imagine vanilla ice cream with caramel chunks. I’ve heard this description before; it’s not original, but it doesn’t bore you. The longevity is average, about 6 hours. Generally, Zara perfumes have good staying power.

  • I spotted it on the Zara testers and loved the opening: amber with a mysterious, dark, and warm vanilla. As soon as I applied it, it reminded me of ‘The One’ by D&G, which is my sister-in-law’s signature scent; I pictured her looking elegant and poised. It’s very similar, though it doesn’t last as long and has a slightly different opening. Definitely an affordable option.

  • I spotted it at Zara among the testers and I love the opening—amber and a mysterious, dark, warm vanilla. It felt like an interesting and fresh scent. On one occasion, once it developed, it reminded me of my sister-in-law’s favorite, ‘The One’ by D&G. Since I associate that smell with her, so beautiful and elegant, I thought it was similar. Just that Black Amber lasts shorter and has a different opening. Definitely a budget-friendly alternative to ‘The One’.

  • It’s a delicious dupe of Dolce & Gabbana, but the dry down is a total disaster of cheap perfume. It smells great at first, but over time it turns disgusting, just like the Zara ones, though it takes a bit longer than their Red Vanilla. I won’t be buying anything from the store again.
