To the one down below saying they’re waiting for it: wait sitting down. It will only be available in the Middle East, much to our dismay. So, if you travel or have a layover at an airport there, take the chance to get your hands on it.

My mom used to say when I was little I’d get a fever if I didn’t get what I wanted, haha, and I still hold onto a little of that. I bought it at Golden Scent: oh my god, this has not even 10% of Classic Scandal. It’s potent, non-linear, and hard to pin down; super floral and elegant, without any sweetness or pastry vibes (hence why it’s only sold in the Middle East). What stands out is the leather: the first 20 minutes smell vintage, then the leather blends with saffron. The longevity is less than Scandal By Night, about 7 hours on skin; at that point, it smells soapy. To sum it up, it smells 80% like Dior’s Fahrenheit ☺️.

  • I picked this up in Liverpool and decided to go for it, since they said it wouldn’t make it to Mexico, but hey, it’s here! =) It’s an absolute delight. Upon spraying, it smells of fine leather, nothing annoying; the honey adds sweetness without reaching the levels of its sister, By Night, and I detect the jasmine right away, making it super feminine. As it dries down, it settles into wood, leather, and honey—that’s how I feel it on my skin. Lasts 8 to 10 hours. I’ve loved it, perfect for autumn and winter.

  • It’s not even the shadow of Scandal, I’m sorry to say. The perfume isn’t very intense, only at the start. The leather is imperceptible, too timid. The flowers seem unsure whether to smell strong or light; the saffron stayed out of the bottle. It’s very average, lasting about 4 hours close to the skin. I don’t know how they say it’s for an Eastern audience when it has only 10% of those notes. I think the version that arrived in Mexico is another one; otherwise, I can’t explain it. Mediocre, with no projection or magnetism, lacking strength and intensity. Definitely doesn’t cause a scandal. It claims to be Eau de Parfum, but at most it’s Eau de Toilette. I was a huge fan of the brand, I have all the versions before Puig. It saddens me what the brand has become; they seem like ch. Aroma 7 perfumes. Projection 5, Quality 6, Longevity 7.

It’s quite nice, lasting about 4 hours on the skin. I don’t know how they dare say it’s for an oriental audience when it’s only 10%. I think the version that made it to Mexico is something else, otherwise I can’t explain it. Mediocre, no projection or magnetism, lacking strength and intensity. Definitely no scandal. I don’t know why it has such bad reviews; it’s a beautiful scent and the leather is gorgeous. I’m not a huge fan of saffron, but here it just gives a spicy touch. The honey OBVIOUSLY doesn’t feel the same as the original, and that’s super good; it’s a chypre in every sense, nothing sweet or gourmand… and watch out: I love gourmand, but sometimes a change isn’t bad. I agree that it’s so different from its Scandal siblings that they could bottle it in another flask. In itself, it’s a beautiful scent that in a couple of years will be sought after as a collection piece, since it’s limited edition.

In Gold, there’s no similarity to the classic Scandal (2017); it’s very different. It’s not sweet or floral, but spicy, earthy, and woody. It’s linear, with little evolution. After hours, I smell saffron, woods, leather, and oud (maybe cardamomo at the start, but it fades quickly). The flowers (rose and jasmine) are overshadowed. I don’t use it much because the woods and oud are very prominent. It’s a nighttime and formal wear scent.

You won’t find any similarity to the classic Scandal (2017) at Gold; this is a very different version. It’s not sweet or floral, but rather spicy, earthy, and woody. I see it as linear, with little evolution: from the moment I spray it until hours later, I smell saffron, woods, leather, and oud (maybe there’s cardamomo in the first few minutes, but it fades quickly). The flowers they claim to have (rose and jasmine) get overshadowed by the other ingredients; I don’t notice them as much. I don’t use it often because the woods and oud are too prominent; for me, it’s a night scent and for formal dressing.

  • A perfume for expert noses or those trained with niche scents. It’s very niche. They declared it feminine, but it’s unisex, even more masculine. On my skin, the spicy touches of saffron with sambac jasmine and leather stand out. The honey is soft, fading into the background. Intense cypriol and patchouli in the dry down. Sandalwood appears at the end. Sillage is moderate to wide, lasting six or seven hours. I recommend trying it before, especially if you’re a woman looking for something less sweet than Scandal; it is sweet, but more virile. To work on my skin, I must mix it with something very honeyed, like Navitus Miel Extase or Signature Aurum by Zaharoff. With that, it adjusts. It offers great quality, but it’s not as honeyed or feminine as expected. I’d wear it for occasional nighttime events and in cool or cold climates.

  • Don’t buy it blindly; for me, it’s very masculine. At first, it smells strongly of leather and sandalwood. As it dries down, that mix with rose and a slightly spicy, honeyed sweetness remains. I don’t like it because it overwhelms and makes me dizzy. When I smelled it, I thought: ‘this reminds me of another’. Indeed, it’s similar to Fahrenheit. The leather mix of both gives me a negative. Fahrenheit smells like gasoline to me, and this Scandal Gold also makes me think of fuel. A definite NO for me.

  • This perfume shouldn’t be a flanker of the Scandals; not even close. The only thing you smell is leather and sandalwood, so strong they’re overwhelming. I think as a men’s fragrance it might work, but for it to be a definitive part of the Scandal line, JPG made a mistake. I don’t recommend buying it blind, and definitely not using it if it’s hot.

I know every nose is different, but attacking this perfume for smelling only like leather and being unbearable seems exaggerated. Yes, you feel the leather, yes, the saffron, yes, it doesn’t look like a flanker of Scandal, nor So Scandal or Le Parfum, which are the most loved. However, this Gold has been unfairly criticized. For me, it’s a great perfume, with wearable, feminine, and beautiful leather, very light, and that bright exotic honey. If you’re a fan of Decadence or Kenzo World Intense, this will drive you crazy.

Personally, it’s not my favorite in the Scandal line, but people ignore that this fragrance was created exclusively for the Middle Eastern market. Perfumes in Saudi Arabia and India use a lot of woody and spicy notes. This is, so to speak, the ‘Arab’ version of Scandal.

  • Maquillajecancunmx

Even though many hate it, for me it’s the only one in the Scandal line I like. It’s a patchouli leather wrapped in sweet honey but without being heavy. Very refined, ideal for important nighttime events. It reminds me of the reformulated CH by Carolina Herrera, but with honey. I love it, it’s one of my favorites.

  • SScandalosa

Oh my god! I didn’t see it in Argentina… what a shame. I would have loved to try it.
