  • New addition for the community. The Spanish cosmetic giant hasn’t taken long to present us another member of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s most avant-garde saga. It’s not as sweet or irreverent as the EDT, nor as dry and dark as Le Parfum. Scandal Pour Homme Intense seems to be the most refined and well-groomed offspring of them all. Although it may occasionally evoke memories of the original, the DNA is merely a footnote, especially thanks to the fragrant, mentholated flow of clary sage that’s noticeable from the first spray. As it dries, you instantly discover the aromatic core: a base of vetiver and a worked leather facet resembling medicinal syrup, very present in recent perfumes like Bad Boy Elixir or Carolina Herrera’s VIP Black NY Rodeo, though not as woody or rough as those. In the heart phase, the vetiver imparts a vigorous, clean core with green, soapy, and unexpectedly floral notes, making it one of the most interesting launches of the season. Perhaps the original is the most potent and carefree, but this Intense version offers more versatility and isn’t limited to party environments. It’s suggestive, ambivalent, even unisex, more sophisticated than the previous ones, very suitable as a signature fragrance without losing the performance of its predecessors. The Art Deco tweaks with vertical lines on the new smoked glass bottle give it a touch of distinction.

It seems leather is in style in 2025. If you’re feeling adventurous to try it, take a look at Bad Boy Elixir and Boss Absolu. 🤙

This is for user Triton who commented earlier. Scandal has three brothers, but with the new one, we’re up to four. They forgot to mention Scandal Absolu, which came out in 2024.

  • Fresh opening that settles into a subtle, clean leather. Lasts over 16 hours, and even after a shower, you can still smell it on your skin. Not as sensual as Le Parfum, but excellent for fall and winter.

  • Fresh opening that transitions into a subtle, clean leather, lasting over 16 hours and still lingering on the skin even after a shower. Not as sensual as Le Parfum, but excellent for autumn and winter.

  • A scent very similar to its predecessors… I feel the same way I did with the Kenzo Homme line; minimal differences and just trying to sell it. It’s an DNA I personally don’t like, though it performs very well… I expected something else given the leather note, but it’s just the same old formula.

  • I love this entire saga, and this one fits perfectly. As others mentioned, it keeps the Scandal DNA but adds a darker, herbal twist. It’s not mature at all—ideal for dates and parties. It’s not loud; it strikes a great balance between sweet and playful on one side, and sophisticated and polished on the other. I could call it elegant, but it doesn’t quite reach that level because it still has that youthful spark. Lasts long and projects massively. Under a niche brand or signed by Francis Kurkdjian, this would have skyrocketed in hype exponentially. My top picks are: 1) Scandal Pour Homme EDT, 2) Scandal Pour Homme Intense, 3) Scandal Pour Homme Le Parfum, 4) Scandal Pour Homme Absolu.

  • I like this saga, and this one fits right in. As others said, it recalls the Scandal DNA but with a darker, slightly herbal touch. It’s not mature at all. Ideal for dates and parties. It’s not loud; it strikes a perfect balance between sweet and playful on one side, and sophisticated and orderly on the other. I could call it elegant, but it doesn’t quite reach that level because it still keeps that youthful spark. Lasts and projects a lot. Under a niche brand, I’d sign this off, or if Francis Kurkdjian had created it, it would have soared exponentially with huge hype. My top list would be: 1) Scandal Pour Homme EDT, 2) Scandal Pour Homme Intense, 3) Scandal Pour Homme Le Parfum, 4) Scandal Pour Homme Absolu.

  • An interesting version of Scandal, deeper and rounder, though sharing the same DNA as the others. It’s a caramelized sweet scent but more energetic, woody, spiced, bright, with fresh touches and more power. Note: it lacks the carefree, airy sweetness of the EDT, but it gains in depth and longevity.

  • Horrible, the worst of the entire saga. The most disruptive one, the one that deviates the most from the previous ones. The problem is that on my skin, it smells like an old lady’s perfume. It changes a lot on blotter paper and smells nice there, but since I wear it on skin and not paper, my vote is negative. Puig disappointing again.

  • Lara Valentina

It smells like that intoxicating pupurri scent that hits your nose and head when you walk into the cleaning products section of those department stores that sell everything from cosmetics to mops and pads. Terrible. It smells like floor cleaner with air freshener.

  • A curious version of Scandal, deeper and rounder while keeping the same DNA. Sweet and caramelized, yet more energetic, woody, and spiced, with a bright, fresh edge and more potency. Note: it lacks that carefree, airy sweetness of the EDT, but it wins on depth and longevity.

  • Terrible, the worst of the entire saga. The most disruptive one and the one that strays furthest from the previous scents. The problem is that, on MY SKIN, it smells like an old lady’s perfume. It changes a lot on paper and is even pleasant there, but since I wear it on skin and not just on paper, my vote is negative. Puig disappointing again.

I still don’t understand why so many people feel the need to create flankers that smell exactly like their predecessors and everything else already on the market.

  • Tested from a decant sent by JPG on my skin. I read many comments saying it’s darker than its sisters, but I feel it’s not true at all. The opening feels like a cologne with a very marked floral note. The scent is quite linear, ending in that floral cologne mixed with woods that mute the sparkly opening, making it more subdued. In my mind, this fragrance transports me to a spring weekend, walking through the countryside with flowers, where one stands out above all in a sunny, happy day. I see it as versatile but ideal for spring. To me, it feels more feminine than masculine. The scent might remind you of Scandal EDT with that sparkly part, but nothing else. This Intense is floral throughout. It’s the first Scandal I don’t like. Not because it smells bad—it smells good—but because it’s not for me. My current ranking of the Scandal line based on my tastes is: 1. Scandal EDT: bright and caramelized. 2. Scandal Le Parfum: sweet, party-ready, powerful, and round. 3. Scandal Absolu: dark, chocolatey, and slightly more mature. 4. Scandal Intense: floral.

The initial herbal/floral opening didn’t work for me at all. After an hour and a half, it starts to reveal the classic DNA of the line, but very softly. It’s the first one in the line I don’t like, even though Scandal EDT is one of my favorite perfumes.

  • Ricardo-powa

I tried it yesterday. I thought it would be sweet or leather-leaning, but it’s not. It’s a ‘blue’ fragrance with subtle leather notes. Super pleasant and versatile. I recommend trying it; the opening is rich and the projection is very nice. A fragrance for everyone. I’d bet my money it’s very similar (in style) to Hugo Boss Beyond…

  • Scandal Pour Homme Intense is fruity, sweet, and woody. The opening smells like sweet bubblegum, even though no fruity notes are listed. As minutes pass, something herbal and earthy emerges amidst the sweetness, which I attribute to vetiver; there might also be tonka bean and sage, but the listed leather isn’t prominent or noticeable, at least not on my skin or blotter. Like most of the Scandal Pour Homme line, it’s geared toward cooler climates like autumn and winter, or early spring; wearing it on hot days is a bad idea. It has a youthful to mature appeal and is almost unisex. Longevity has been good, over 9 hours, with a noticeable trail. It smells great and is pleasant, but doesn’t offer a substantial change compared to the rest of the line. It’s subjective, so I invite you to try it and form your own opinion.

  • Reminded me of Polo Live by L’Bel with that suede-like leather, but with the full Scandal DNA, the green note makes it very versatile.

  • Gonzaparfums

I bought this blind right after its launch. It’s a sweet perfume keeping the original DNA but removing the caramel note and replacing it with a suede-like texture (not leather). For me, it’s the best smelling one in the line. That said, the longevity is good, but for a Scandal, the projection is weak—you need to apply a lot to make it stand out. In short, a great fragrance for night or formal events, but not a beast mode.

  • Love at first sniff with this one. I was in the store testing perfumes when I decided to try it on blotter and skin; not only did it smell incredible, staying true to the other Scandals, but it lasted hours on both my skin and the paper, so I added it to my collection. I recommend it to everyone: don’t let biased opinions sway you; projection, scent, and longevity are all 10/10.

  • The most distinguished Scandal in the line so far (haven’t tried the new cherry one yet), even surpassing Absolu. The leather notes strip away the youthful, party vibe of the family. It doesn’t last as long as its siblings (or cheap clones), but it’s perfect for couple dates. Buy blind, but since it’s not cheap, better to test the flankers first to see which you like most.
