Descripción
Coco Noir by Chanel is an oriental woody fragrance for women. Launched in 2012, this composition was created by Jacques Polge and Christopher Sheldrake. The top notes unfold with grapefruit, bergamot, and orange; the heart reveals a harmony of rose, geranium, jasmine, narcissus, and peach; while the base notes settle on patchouli, sandalwood, frankincense, tonka bean, vanilla, white musk, cloves, and benzoin.

I tested it on my skin and fell in love with the opening; it’s not offensive and stays balanced. Over time, it becomes more citrusy, fresh, elegant, and slightly woody. Although it could be unisex, my skin usually makes them smell very masculine, but this one seems very pleasant to me. It lasts quite a bit without being overpowering, as the bottle or the ‘Noir’ name might suggest. I added it to my wish list; I think it would work well in summer, maybe from December to March, but better once the pandemic is over and savings are freer. Edit: It also didn’t remind me of Coco Mademoiselle, which I already own.
Here, gender preferences are broken. I loved it. I adore oriental scents, and if you like the classic Coco EDP, you’ll like this too, even if I’m not a fan of Coco Mademoiselle. Its opening is potent, but within minutes, it becomes light on my skin. I’ll keep testing it regarding longevity.
Mysterious, refined, and discreet. It has two distinct faces: first, a spicy citrus opening that projects strongly for about half an hour, where a volatile patchouli shines before fading; second, a warm, woody floral dry-down that projects moderately until it fades after six hours on skin. I’m a fan of the dry-down, but I regret that the intensity is so discreet and it lasts just long enough for an EDT.
Finally, I have it, and the best part is that it was a gift. I like it for its touch of incense and non-sour citrus; it’s like an improved Mademoiselle. It smells like sweet oranges, white flowers, and incense. It’s perfect, simple, smells clean, and lasts.
I love it; it’s the favorite of this line, but I have one caveat: longevity. Perfumes usually last all day for me, but Chanel ones don’t go past three hours before I need to reapply. It’s not cheap, and since it’s Chanel, I expected more. I think that’s the only reason why when it runs out, I probably won’t repurchase unless it’s very cheap, because otherwise, it’s not worth it.
I love it. In my opinion, it smells better than its sister, Coco Mademoiselle, and it’s less trendy, which is a plus. It’s a classic: elegant, warm, and sensual, suitable for any occasion. It just lacks longevity; in my case, it projects for about two hours and lasts six on the skin. For a Chanel, it’s improvable, but the scent is worth it.
Coco Noir is the perfect bargain; it works almost always (except in intense heat), whether outside or inside, day or night. Always elegant and never heavy. I recommend it without a doubt. For me, it’s a classy staple.
It didn’t work for me; it smelled too much like a balsamic oriental, and upon testing it, it tickled my throat. We didn’t match.
I’ll be brief: for me, it’s a light oriental, very elegant and subtle. It shares the DNA of Coco Mademoiselle, but the latter is heavier on orange and patchouli. In contrast, Coco Noir features a more intense patchouli blended with the warmth of sandalwood and rose with jasmine—those flowers almost always included in Chanel’s feminine fragrances. It’s not sweet on my skin. It’s a warm fragrance with a discreet yet powerful presence. I don’t know if it’s been reformulated, but when it launched, it always had moderate and discreet performance. At the end of its dry-down, it leaves a synthetic white musk, but masterfully crafted so it doesn’t smell like soap. The scent is warm and elegant, never losing that identity. It’s for patchouli lovers who enjoy roses and woods, and it will be a huge hit.
It’s a warm and elegant fragrance, very discreet and pleasant, though I don’t think it justifies its price since it’s not extraordinary. I bought it without regrets and enjoy it, but I’m left with the feeling that it’s not worth as much for the brand. It doesn’t match its dark bottle or name at all; it has nothing nocturnal or intense about it. It’s a daytime aroma ideal for the office or when you don’t want to stand out, but still to feel elegant. I’d use it in any season, but only during the day, because at night I prefer something more potent. Its trail is medium-low and lasts about 4 hours on my skin, which isn’t bad considering my skin doesn’t hold scents well.
It’s an oriental perfume with that typical Chanel elegance, with good fixation (it lasts about 12 hours on me) but little projection. To me, it has the best of both Coco Mademoiselle and Coco Chanel without being overwhelming; it has a feminine opening that fascinates me, and once it dries, it becomes a mature fragrance. The black bottle suits it perfectly for the elegance it projects.
Coco Noir is elegance and empowerment, those perfumes that scream ‘I’m here.’ I love it for how it makes me feel and it’s so pleasant that you enjoy wearing it, not as overwhelming as its sister Coco Mademoiselle, a bit more subtle with a just-right trail. It’s versatile but for special occasions. It makes you feel unique, powerful, and sophisticated.
Coco Noir is Coco Mademoiselle with maturity, style, and empowerment—understood as knowing what you want and what you don’t, with the experience and common sense that time gives. It’s a perfectly sublime woody and floral elegance. Chanel’s combination of rose and patchouli is very characteristic and beautiful. Elegant to infinity. I had a small bottle of Coco Mademoiselle (Eau de Toilette) and stopped using it after perceiving a reformulation I didn’t like. Today, without a doubt, I would choose Coco Noir first.
I got it at a good price, bought it blind, and at first it hit me hard when I smelled it directly and applied it—too strong and sharp. But I never let the first impression rule; I let it dry and within minutes it settled on my skin as a super rich, delicate, and feminine talcum powder, lasting about 10 hours. Honestly, I don’t find any resemblance to Mademoiselle, which on my skin comes out very citrusy.
Very good scent, but the longevity and projection are lamentable; after half an hour, you have to press your nose to smell it. I suppose previous batches were better, but in 2022, I see an exorbitant cost for the duration… I won’t gift it again, it’s a rip-off. 50ml for 83 euros with ridiculous longevity and projection is a joke from Chanel.
I bought it because I found it cheap, although it is expensive. The opening is unisex leaning masculine, but on skin the florals come out more and it becomes feminine. It’s rich and elegant, but if you’re under 30, I don’t think it’s for everyday wear; it’s better for serious occasions like interviews, theater, or business dinners. I wouldn’t buy it again because, although it’s rich, it doesn’t fascinate me—it’s pricey and the trail and longevity are low. If you’re looking for something mature without smelling like ‘old lady’ and elegant, opt for Hugo Boss Ma Vie Femme Pour Femme EDP, which is more youthful, suitable for daily wear, and cheaper. If you’re torn between this and Coco Mademoiselle, consider the pros: Coco Noir is less overused and more personal, while Coco Mademoiselle has better longevity and projection.
To me, it’s the best women’s perfume from Chanel. It’s incredible, very spicy yet feminine at the same time, and nothing else compares to it.
I’ve had it for a while; I bought it in summer and used it the next day. On my skin, it lasted about 4 hours and disappointed me given the price, but on clothes, it held up until the wash. Today I wore it in the dead of winter with the cold, and it performed excellently. It’s been 12 hours and I’m surprised because it still feels fresh; it seems more summery, though in winter I prefer stronger, warmer scents. It’s delicious, super elegant, and feminine—one of my favorite Chancels and less overused than Coco Mademoiselle, which smells like everyone else. I fell in love with it for warm climates, but it performs excellently in the cold (for me).
I see that for others it doesn’t last or has no trail, but it lasted all day on me, and the scent is truly exquisite.
Coco Noir is the most ‘Chanel’ thing they’ve released lately: a delicious, super natural scent with absolutely no synthetic notes, featuring patchouli, incense, rose, and sandalwood. It’s very refined, reminiscent of Coco Mademoiselle but much better—darker and more sophisticated, without diminishing the other one which I still love. It lasts about 6 hours with a powerful trail that fades after four; on my skin, it’s very intense. A triumph from this great house.
It’s a lovely scent, a warmer, spicier sibling to classic Coco Mademoiselle and a true ‘Chanel.’ It evokes walking with a bouquet of roses, jasmines, and narcissuses in an oriental market, feeling the sparkle of cloves and a slight hint of vanilla, barely hidden among woods and incense. On me, it lasts all day and so much that, although I like it, it can get annoying, so I’ve decided to reserve it for nights and slightly colder days where it shines with all its distinction. I agree with everyone that it’s a total success by Chanel.
I don’t understand the reviews describing its poor longevity and sillage. I wonder if they have fake bottles from China, as there are many on sale. This lasts a long time and is quite intoxicating. I don’t intend to advertise Chanel, but this creation is excellent. It lasts 7-8 hours; yes, the base stays close to the skin but is still noticeable afterward. It’s a feminine character perfume with a unisex dry-down without losing its delicate and floral aura. The name Noir doesn’t seem out of place; it’s more ‘dark’ than Coco Mademoiselle, but it’s a creative title and doesn’t have to be literal. A creation of 10 by Polge and Sheldrake.
For me, it’s one of the most beautiful bottles that exist, and I’m not taking that back, haha. I have it displayed in my living room bookshelf. I admit I bought it blindly, telling myself that as a fan, I had to have it. Its scent is very different from the rest of my collection; it’s like a little gem in my arsenal. I’m looking forward to the cold weather returning so I can enjoy it again this winter, especially for special occasions like Christmas dinners or gatherings with friends, or any day I need a boost. I recommend not buying it blindly like I did, as I only started to love it after using it more; at first, it took me some time to get used to it.
I own it, and it’s a delicate, classic, and very exquisite perfume. On my skin, it lasts more than 8 hours, and on clothes, it lingers for over 3 days.
It’s marketed as a night perfume, and the opening certainly lives up to that: it screams night, elegance, and mystery. But it quickly changes completely and becomes an improved version of Mademoiselle. I already own Mademoiselle, and seeing that the dry-down is almost identical to my nose, I was disappointed. If I didn’t have Mademoiselle, I would definitely buy this; between the two, it’s the same but better. Since I already have Mademoiselle, it wasn’t worth having two of the same. Maybe when I run out of Mademoiselle, I’ll buy Noir instead of refilling it. If you don’t have Mademoiselle, I recommend buying this.
I love it! Along with its older sibling, COCO, they are my favorite duo for elegant and formal occasions. They’re perfumes that make people turn their heads just by wearing them. It’s definitely a gem. Just be aware that it has a strong sillage and the notes are a bit heavy, but if you don’t apply it too close to your face, it works fine during the day.
I bought it blindly based on your comments, and now my wife smells like an old lady. Neither she nor I like it. I have no idea what to do with this perfume.
In my opinion, it’s a masterpiece. Coco Noir by Chanel is elegant and sophisticated. The top notes unfold a fresh citrus explosion of grapefruit and bergamot that later blend with the warm spice of pink pepper. As it develops, the heart reveals exquisite floral notes of rose, jasmine, and narcissus, adding femininity and timeless elegance. Finally, the base is a sensual blend of patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla, sandalwood, and white musk, adding depth. It screams night, elegance, and sensuality. I wear it whenever I can, especially when going out at night or dressed up. Highly recommended.
I can’t decipher it. I’ve tested it on blotting paper more than seven times, and no, I still can’t define it.
Sweet.
It left me speechless! Not because of complexity, but because of pure magic. I left it on my side table, and by dawn, its scent had completely transformed. I’ve always wanted to experience that metamorphosis but couldn’t smell it; I even asked others if maybe I was just missing it, only to realize it was only me who couldn’t detect it that night. That evening, I felt it was time to own it, and I bought it almost impulsively. Today, every time I wear it, it’s different: sometimes I feel wrapped in comforting talcum powder, other times the frankincense takes over and reminds me of Belle d’Opium (which I have stashed away and no longer tolerate). Sometimes I feel clean, other times I don’t. What I can say is that I don’t see it as a night perfume or as sophisticated as people claim; when I wear it, I feel clean and ready for any occasion. I think people are easily swayed by the black bottle and the nighttime marketing. Should I have bought it? Do I like it or not? For me, it’s just questions.
I bought it based on reviews and was literally disappointed; it smells like wet cinnamon. I didn’t like it at all… and paying that price hurt. I don’t recommend it.
A perfume with an almost toasted sugary base; it reminds me of a budget option (CIEL NOIR). I don’t dislike it, but I don’t perceive it as particularly elegant within the collection.
The Coco Mademoiselle dressed up as a witch for the (rather posh) university private Halloween party with my classmates.
I never thought I’d add a Chanel to my collection, but tastes change. It has a lot of the Mademoiselle DNA. For me, it’s easier to wear, less intense, and less loud. It’s the spiced version of the first one. I don’t see it as a night perfume despite the name and bottle; it’s quite versatile. The patchouli from the other one is less noticeable here; it’s more powdery and woody. I should have only bought this one; the first will stay forgotten. The review saying it smells like wet cinnamon amused me; it’s not bad, it does have a hint of cinnamon. I love it.
The best women’s perfume I’ve ever tried. Its notes are another dimension. It lasts 12 hours on skin and has great projection. I think it’s the best for a romantic date or to turn heads on a winter night. An exquisite aroma due to the combination of notes. I feel it’s very floral, and the incense is key to giving it that feminine and sensual touch. I have no words; it leaves me speechless.
I wore Coco Mademoiselle EDP for over 10 years and didn’t know about Noir. Since people said they were similar, I bought it blind. At first, I thought I didn’t like it much; it left me indifferent. But it has magic; over time, it fell in love with me, and I’m on my second bottle. I see it as vintage yet modern, elegant, with a dark and clean touch, like an old luxury soap. You wear it anywhere and it always makes a great impression. It’s in my top 3. ❤️
Total obsession. I get the ‘Noir’ concept: it’s not a dark perfume, but it evokes black through the elegance it projects. It’s serious and sober, yet with a flirtatious twist. It has a special magic; I need it. There was a before and an after. (The witchy Coco joke made me laugh xD)
I grabbed it by mistake; I wanted the Coco EDP, my baby. Chanel Noir is the little sister of the EDP: they’re similar, but this one is so much softer, sexier, and darker, though still soft. Maybe it’s because I’m used to the EDP. I detect narcisso, incense, and patchouli… it smells like mystical elegance.
Among my favorites: that blend of citrus, florals, and resins is the perfect, harmonious, and elegant combo. It empowers you, lol. Long live Coco Noir!
