Scandal Pour Homme Elixir by Jean Paul Gaultier is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. This creation, launched in 2026, was crafted by Quentin Bisch, Natalie Gracia-Cetto, Christophe Raynaud, and Louise Turner. The opening bursts with black cherry, bergamot, heliotrope, and lemon; the heart reveals patchouli, lavender, geranium, rum, and green mint; while the base settles on tonka bean, akigalawood, and vanilla.

  • Reminds me of those classic feminine cherry perfumes: when the fruity note drops, that background of sweet tonka remains. That’s it. A few hours after spraying it on my hand, it no longer smells of cherry; only that tonka base remains close to the skin… I don’t know if it’s because the tester wasn’t macerated well… But the longevity is short. As for the scent? Smells like sweet cherry and that’s it. Nothing masculine.

In my opinion, the worst of the line. What stands out most is the cherry giving it a feminine touch. As it dries, it becomes a bit sweeter, but nowhere near the level of Absolu or the EDT. And this doesn’t live up to its name; as for being scandalous, it has very little to none. It’s by far the one with the worst performance in the entire line; it projects little and the longevity is terrible; two hours after spraying it, I could barely smell it even close to the skin. It’s lament

The Scandal that doesn’t taste like caramel, now it tastes like dark cherry; it smells just like AXE cherry. Perfect for nighttime days, and it’s brand new from 2026.

Alright guys, I finally got it. Talking about my first test: I sprayed it about 10 times to really test and notice it, though I clearly overdid it without realizing. It zips around more than a bee on a harvest day. First off, I’d been looking for a long time for a perfume where the cherry note stands out, doesn’t get overshadowed by the other notes, and blends well with them. It’s a sweet perfume without being cloying; for example, Scandal Absolu is very cloying, heavy, and annoying for me—I discarded it at first because the EDT seems much better and more comfortable to wear. Back to Scandal Elixir: the cherry is noticeable throughout, but it’s not super sharp, which makes it very pleasant for me. It blends with the tonka bean, giving it creaminess. At times, that cherry gives the sensation of a cherry liqueur, slightly alcoholic, but only for the first half hour, and sweet at the same time. It’s like a very pleasant cloud of cherries. The tonka bean is like a soft vanilla that complements the cherry very well. As for the patchouli, honestly, I don’t smell it at all. But it’s not needed. I don’t think it’s for women at all; it could be unisex, probably, but on my skin, it feels like a PM (power move) scent, and I don’t consider it feminine at all. Maybe it’s a bit synthetic, but like the other Scandals. In my opinion, the two best Scandals are definitely this Elixir and the EDT. It’s quite likely I’ll get the 150ml bottle; I loved it. Although I think with the 100ml I have, it will last me a long time because this is potent with balls—I’ll keep testing it because with the 10 sprays in a closed space, it zips around like crazy, haha, what a beast. It’s a perfume to use only in autumn and winter with cold or very cold weather; this cherry 🍒 is delicious. At times it has similarities with the Absolu in creaminess and the base, but in my opinion, this is much better. It’s exactly the cherry perfume I was looking for, not alcoholic or an acidic cherry. Don’t touch this in the heat. Also, for me, this perfume is for rotation with others you have, not for using the same one all the time or almost all the time, because I don’t consider it versatile for all situations; it could get tiring with continuous use, but that’s true for almost any perfume used continuously. I sprayed 10 shots of this and it reached my brain 😄, but damn, I love it. Only use it in autumn and winter, perfect for parties, perfect for dates (controlling the sprays), and perfect for the night. If you’re going to be in a closed space with few people, I recommend max 8 sprays, and if you’re in open spaces and want to stand out, between 12 to 15 sprays at most—you’ll be a total beast. Regarding longevity and projection, I can’t give a full evaluation yet; so far, after 3 hours, I haven’t stopped smelling it, and a lot. It’s not as invasive as the Absolu, which leaves you smelling it until you’re done… at least less so for me, but it’s noticeable all the time, just what I like, so it doesn’t tire you or the person next to you, and maybe not as long-lasting as the Scandal EDT, but it’s very close to both. It’s much more comfortable to wear than the Absolu version. My rating for Scandal Elixir. Scent: For now, I give it a 9. It doesn’t have the note quality of something like a Prada L’Homme, but damn, it’s so tasty. Longevity: 9. I calculate that with 12-15 sprays, it lasts more than 8 hours on skin and is very noticeable; last night I sprayed 10 and it’s still noticeable, and 11.5 hours have passed. Sillage: 8.5. I’m still testing; 3 hours later, it smells a lot and is noticeable at 1 meter or more. I need to test it in open spaces. Honestly, I wouldn’t understand people saying this doesn’t last or project because in my case, it approaches beast mode, and why would you want more? It would end up being very heavy. It’s a perfume that will please many people but not everyone; very tasty, but maybe not mass-appealing, which is better and will make you stand out. I love the cherry 🍒 scent it leaves; it’s more addictive as it dries down.

Surprising and disappointing. I understand that an Elixir from the Scandal line was supposed to come out, following the current trend of all perfumes, but honestly, I don’t understand what they did. It has practically NOTHING of the Scandal DNA. It’s a totally different perfume, with only a slight reminiscence in the dry-down. The rest is just loud, synthetic cherry, and I’d almost say unpleasant. It’s like cherry-flavored lipstick. I own the other four Scandals, and this one seems the worst by far, so it’s not coming with me. No Elixir at all. A disaster.

Update after several sprays: I overdid it the first time and dinner left me a bit stuffed, but I absolutely loved the scent. Now, on the second wear, it’s pure luxury on my skin. The patchouli is noticeable, adding that earthy, dark touch that pairs perfectly with the black cherry. Yes, the cherry smells a bit synthetic and medicinal at first, with that strong alcohol kick that works perfectly for me. It’s an aroma of constant bursts. Ideal for winter, parties, and elegant dates. It doesn’t overdo it, lasts more than 6 hours, and improves with time. It feels sweet, powdery, and creamy thanks to the tonka bean, which smells like soft vanilla here—not cloying. It doesn’t invade; it creates a pleasant mist around you. It feels more mature than the other Scandals. It performs amazingly well, though the Absolu is more potent and heavy. I’m thinking of getting the 150ml bottle. Try it well; it’s not for collecting, but for what defines you. It’s different and amazing! 😋🍒

  • In my opinion, the best of the line. I’ve been testing Absolu for a while and there was something that didn’t convince me, but I tried this at Primor and, love at first sniff, I already wanted it at home…

  • @jimblue You can definitely feel the patchouli as it dries down; it’s that note with a sweetish hint of the Scandal Absolu DNA. I don’t feel it as boozy; it’s just the opening and it fades quickly. Then there’s the Scandal Absolu but with the soft cherry that doesn’t feel as invasive. It remains sweet like the other Scandals, but not as sharp as the EDT. It’s sweet like the previous version, and I’d say it reminded me a bit of the Intense version too. I would have liked more cherry and more alcohol, but it would go way off the Scandal DNA. I’m not sure about balsamic; it’s more woody due to the patchouli (which I understand should be considered wood in perfumery).

  • Smells like the medication Apiretal, a super sharp cherry at the start. It improves a bit over time as the tonka bean becomes more noticeable.

Well, I finally got it. First test: I sprayed it about 10 times to really notice it, and I accidentally went overboard with the trigger; you can’t see how it buzzes more than Maya the bee on harvest day. First, I had been looking for a cherry perfume that would stand out and not get lost among the rest. It’s sweet without being cloying; Scandal Absolu is too cloying, heavy, and tiresome for me, so I discarded it immediately. The EDT seems much better and more comfortable. Back to the Elixir: the cherry is noticeable all the time, not sharp, very pleasant. It blends with the tonka bean, giving it creaminess. At times it gives a sensation of cherry liqueur, a little alcoholic, only for the first half hour, and sweet at the same time. It’s like a cloud of cherries. The tonka is a soft vanilla that complements it well. As for the patchouli, honestly, I don’t smell it at all, but it’s not needed. • I’m hooked. Smells like Absolu without the plum, with soft cherries, no jelly or tricks, just a hint of alcohol at the start. Peta and lasts long. As it dries, it’s Scandal but closer to Absolu. It’s sexy, playful, and youthful. If it had more body or liquor, it would be a beast between commercial and niche. I feel it’s unisex and I’d wear it. The only thing: the bottle. Why that whiskey color that has nothing to do with the scent, which reminds me of Absolu? I’m thinking of adding it to my collection. To me, this overshadows Absolu.

  • Lobo_Estepario

For me, the worst of the line. What stands out most is the cherry giving it an even feminine touch. In the dry-down, it does become a bit sweeter, but nowhere near the level of the Absolu or the EDT. And this one doesn’t live up to its name at all; of ‘scandalous,’ it has very little to none. By far, it has the worst performance of the entire line; it projects little and the longevity is terrible; after two hours of spraying it, I could barely smell it even up close. It’s lamentable that a fragrance named Elixir has such poor performance. In my opinion, a completely dispensable launch.

  • Hey, what about the patchouli? Can you smell it? I was expecting something balsamic and boozy with that patchouli and sweetness, but I don’t feel it. Thanks.

  • metroidsoldier

I could only try this perfume at a perfumery; I won’t give a full review yet, but I must say a few things. As a man, don’t be afraid to smell different. Saying this perfume smells like a woman’s scent is closing yourself off to experimenting with a different aroma. Your masculinity won’t be affected by this perfume, and if women reject you for not smelling ‘masculine,’ well, they did you a favor; that girl was going to be a problem. Despite that, I understand you might not like the cherry note; it’s a somewhat difficult and unknown note for many noses. But this perfume promises a lot, and I love that there’s a designer perfume with a cherry note for men in the perfumery.
