Opus XVI – Timber by Amouage is a woody olfactory creation designed for men and women. This new fragrance, launched in 2025, was conceived by perfumer Alexis Grugeon. The opening is rich, but what hooks you is how it changes on the skin: it doesn’t smell the same at first as it does hours later. On my skin, as it dries down, the projection grows and expands. Body heat wakes it up and makes it incredibly seductive. It’s a bossy, sexy, and sensual scent that envelops you and invites you to dive deep. It has that magical duality: it makes you introspective while surrounding you with a sensuality that makes you feel unique. Cacao rules, embraced by palo santo, vanilla, incense, and sandalwood. That mix of woods and resins is pure inspiration. It’s warm, enveloping, spiritual, magnetic, and addictive. Not just worn on the skin, but on the soul.

I tried a decant and haven’t smelled this in ages. It’s very oriental thanks to the incense, sandalwood, and palo santo. You get that elegant pink pepper note; it smells like Sauvage Elixir but takes a different, more oriental and sophisticated route. It’s a top-tier perfume with a powerful yet pleasant sillage, lasting about 8 hours on skin. One of Amouage’s best releases in a long time, perfect for cold, rainy days or evenings. Scent 10/10, longevity 9/10, projection 8/10.
