I just tried a sample and I’m not entirely sure what I think. Guidance opens more boldly, confusingly, it shocks you and makes you make faces. The extrait has a kinder, sweeter, more relaxed opening, but you still associate it with its predecessor. I’d say in the extrait the woody side predominates; overall, I feel that facet is more accentuated and the whole scent seems more subdued and tempered. I don’t know if I’m jumping the gun, I’ll keep testing my sample, but for now, I prefer Guidance.

  • I bought this blind, but it was a successful gamble. I was initially obsessed with the original Guidance; the scent is wonderful and lasts over 12 hours, but it was too strong for my skin chemistry, likely due to the heat where I live. A tiny piece of paper soaked in the original fragrance in my bag smelled so delicious that it made objects smell amazing just by touching them—it was addictive. Since I live in a very humid and hot place, I felt the original was too much. I read several reviews about Guidance 46 saying it kept the DNA of the original but was less invasive, more modern, and that convinced me. I ordered it from Maison Peony, and receiving it was exciting, especially testing it since it’s much pricier than the original. The good news is I loved it. The opening is somewhat woody, with a more masculine vibe if you will. But as it dries down, it transforms into a much fruitier scent, with a fresher touch, yet definitely keeping the DNA of the original. In short, I was fascinated and recommend it widely. If you live in a cold or fresh place, I recommend the original, because I must confess it has better longevity; 46 lasts a long time, but not as long as the original, and definitely the original is for cold climates. For me, this was a successful blind buy. I’m head over heels for Guidance 46, I love it, it matched my body chemistry perfectly, and it’s now my signature scent… whatever that means, haha.

A creamy, velvety rose blends with almond, osmanthus, and amber in a sensual, enveloping dance. It’s sweet, floral, and mysterious, with a hypnotic trail that leaves a mark. It doesn’t just perfume… it guides. It connects you with your intuition, your strength, and your deep femininity. A perfume that speaks without words.

  • Overall, I’m not a fan of the Guidance line; the rose note feels a bit aggressive and old-fashioned. I like 46 more, but I can’t see myself wearing something like that; I prefer more versatile or youthful scents. Yes, the Guidance line smells super mature. For example, I tested it on my wrist and offered it to my boyfriend, who has no prejudices since he doesn’t know the notes, and he said it smelled like lady’s rose soap. Although I don’t agree 100%, I just can’t identify with that scent. That said, the brand’s quality is undeniable, and there’s a huge audience for this olfactory profile; give it a try and experience it. Blindly choosing either one is quite risky for me. Thanks for reading.

  • Guidance 46 is amazing! The projection and longevity are out of this world. It smells gorgeous, feminine, and unique; people always ask me what I’m wearing. The only downside is the price.
