This reminded me a lot of the discontinued ‘Dries Van Noten’ by Frederic Malle, just a bit sweeter at first. It was one of my favorites, mainly because it brought back memories of a very special person who is no longer with us. It was like when someone smells a perfume they aren’t wearing; maybe the scent of their job lingers on their skin. It was curious because, besides, he shared the same profession as Van Noten. If it were still available, I’d choose Malle because it seems more consistent and long-lasting, although this is an Amouage with 30% pure, aged oils (I’m not sure if it’s effective or just marketing). The opening has creamy and woody notes over a lily base, all dancing in a cloud of spicy sandalwood that’s the center in the first few minutes. Spicy, sweet, creamy, and woody accords mixed together. Something strange but interesting.
It’s a delight; it smells a bit gourmand, even if they don’t say so. Plus, it’s a rare sandalwood—creamy with an animalic touch that makes it incredibly tasty and attractive.
I absolutely love it; it brings back incredible memories. A few years ago, I bought a sandalwood and turmeric soap in India that I was obsessed with, but I’ve never been able to find it again; this smells exactly the same. It’s a brutal blend of resin, sandalwood, and cardamom with an almost imperceptible touch of vanilla. It doesn’t last all day, but I think that’s perfect because the scent gets heavy over time. I’ve worn it in both cold and heat without any issues. I recommend trying it before buying, even though I’m completely fascinated by it 😍🕉️ 100% recommended 🕉️🕉️🕉️
