Italian Love is citrusy, fresh, slightly mineral, and aromatic. Its opening is similar to Light Blue Forever for Men, with that very realistic grapefruit note that reminds you of grapefruit drinks or sodas. After a few minutes, that abrupt opening relaxes and becomes more mineral, ozonic, and creamy, like a grapefruit and mineral water cocktail. In the dry-down, it becomes more pleasant, slightly musky and woody. Unlike Forever, Italian Love is more balanced, as it tames the sharpness of the grapefruit; I think it’s a more polished version. However, not everything is an improvement: its performance is inferior; after the first hour, it projects very close to the skin, although it stayed close for about 8 hours. Like the whole Light Blue line, it’s for daytime and warm days, spring and summer. It’s casual, not formal, for the beach or outdoors. Regarding the scent, I don’t recommend buying it blindly, but I do recommend trying it. I liked it, it even seems better than Forever, but I’m not sure if I’ll get a bottle. Side note: the combination of the navy blue liquid with the white cap contrasts very well, reminding me of the sea with white sand.
Great fragrance. One spray in the shopping center and my wife was enchanted; I had to buy it immediately. Fresh, citrusy, and in the dry-down a sweet touch that’s addictive. Buy it because it’s a limited edition. Very clean and elegant!
I want to highlight the longevity of this fragrance: I wore it before going swimming, submerged for about 5 hours, and believe me, it’s still there. The projection is amazing, lasting about 7 hours on me. It’s a flanker similar to Forever, but the scent is more refined, less flat; it’s a result-driven and effervescent fragrance, queen of compliments, perfect for heat!
A spectacular fragrance that is unfortunately limited edition, and worse still knowing that Forever has been discontinued. I don’t understand why they pull such good fragrances off the market.
It’s 95% similar to the Forever version of this brand. I love the scent, but unfortunately on my skin after 3 hours I have to press my nose to barely smell it. What a pity because I like it so much. The Forever lasted and projected better (not in best mode, but at 5 hours it reached me well). I tested it at 20 degrees; I don’t know if more heat improves it…
At first sniff, my skin intensifies the ozonic notes quite a bit; the citrus part is also noticeable. The overall feeling is pleasant, though it seems short on performance. It’s worth trying more because it has a certain charm.
A spectacular fragrance; on my skin it lasts 8 hours and on clothes up to 12, it’s a projection bomb. Citrus aroma (100% grapefruit) for the first two hours, then violet notes with super sexy woody touches emerge. Definitely better than Light Blue Forever.
A fragrance to wear only in summer and heat, during the day. Citrus scent, very tasty with a prominent grapefruit. Poor performance though; after 2-3 hours I have to press my nose against my skin to smell it. Not worth the price given its performance.
Very delicious, but I detect an undeclared note mixing with the grapefruit: pitanga. It even gives me the vibe of that Natura humor online.
Almost bought it blindly for my husband; I caught it at a great price during a one-day sale at a big store. I hesitated on the website and missed the chance to pay before it was gone. Today I went to the physical store and it hit me like a grapefruit slap… so strong I made a face of disgust, and even the salesperson said she didn’t like it. It has nothing to do with the traditional LB, nada!
I’m excited, I bought it. I already own the Forever and the Intense; I’ll wait until the first week of January to use it, let it sit for a few weeks, and compare it with the Forever. I’ll come back to share my review. Best wishes and a happy new year 2023.
I think its biggest (and probably only) problem is that it came out after the Forever and is so similar that it feels redundant. If not for that, it would have much more hype, as it’s a bit more balanced and has better development than the Forever, which was basically pure grapefruit. If they had launched both at the same time, this would have received more recognition than its twin sister. Its weak point is coming out later and disappointing those who already owned and loved the Forever. For me, who never owned the Forever but tried it, this is slightly better. For summer, a 9/10. At the beach or pool party, 10/10; I’d be willing to say so.
Nothing new under the sun. Very similar to the Forever, but more balanced. I’m sticking with Italian Love for that reason. A fragrance that screams summer, somewhat informal and daytime. Highly recommended.
Understanding that this is an IMITATION of the Light Blue Forever Eau de Parfum, I think they should call it Light Blue Forever EDT. That said, it’s a rich perfume; the grapefruit punch is there, but softer than the Forever, slightly sweeter due to the musk and violet. It performs well, is rich, and makes you want to keep smelling it. The issue is performance on my combination-oily skin: I have to reapply after 4 hours, and after that, it’s barely detectable. What a shame because it smells so good. I prefer the Forever 100 times for performance, rich scent, originality, quality, and longevity (6 hours on skin, over 10 on clothes, and it’s an EDP). Do I recommend it? YES, but only if you find it on sale for less than the Forever. Some retailers were selling it at full price, which is insane. I waited for a deal on the 100ml and paid around $60, but I’d never pay more than $80 for such low performance. If you have to choose, always go with the Forever since it’s an EDP. BEST REGARDS.
I don’t usually buy many commercial fragrances; I almost have them all as gifts, but typical: one day downtown, someone sprayed this new version of Light Blue on me. I went for a walk to see how it evolved, made my purchases three hours later, and it was still intensely noticeable. It’s very citrusy, fresh, and clean, but different; most are bergamot and tangerine, this one is grapefruit but smells more like passionfruit. It feels a bit flat, but the scent is delicious for summer. Sillage and longevity are very good for an EDT. Worth buying.
I waited a long time to get this, and my anticipation was high. The first time I sprayed it, it smelled like grapefruit and the sea, but the sillage and longevity were poor. I thought it would improve with age, but today it’s still the same: after two hours, neither I nor the people around me can smell it. What a pity, since they say it’s already out of stock.
Delicious, fresh, with an amazing dry-down. Worked great on my skin.
Fresh and citrusy with a spectacular grapefruit note. Unlike the Forever, it has a sweet touch that makes it easier to wear, ideal for the beach or tropical climates. Decent performance for how fresh it is: about 5 hours on skin while maintaining freshness. Addictive and recommended for citrus lovers. Rating: 9/10.
Charming, juicy, refreshing, creamy, and seductive. It invites you to enjoy life. I love it 100%.
Another one that smells distinct and sexy; I’ve received tons of compliments, but the longevity is a disaster—the tiny bottle empties incredibly fast.
I love it, a well-marked grapefruit in the opening, it stays citrusy for most of it, it’s very fresh, and in my circle, not many know it yet; almost always they ask me what perfume I’m wearing. It leaves a good trail; in my case, I feel the longevity reaches about 4 or 5 hours.
A grapefruit explosion that catches attention and has given me many compliments. It lasts me at least 6 to 7 hours projecting. I find it a bit monotonous with the grapefruit opening; then it drops and the woods become noticeable. Scent: 8/10. Projection: 10/10. Longevity: 9/10.
Like squeezing a grapefruit on the skin, that’s how Positano smells. From now on, I’ll consider it a destination in my upcoming trips. Fresh, natural, youthful, friendly, ideal for pools, beaches, and heat in general, impossible to be annoying. It’s hard to explain, but every time I put it on, I feel like Harry Potter taking his Felix Felicis potion, a sensation that everything will go well. On the downside, it’s linear and doesn’t project much; regarding longevity, on my skin it lasts about 8 hours. It’s a pity they discontinued it; it’s hard to find and expensive, because it’s easily one of my favorites, unforgivable.
A sad end is imminent. Upon spraying, you notice a more bitter grapefruit than its sister, the Forever. With the aldehydes, a harsh freshness explodes. After two hours, the violet comes out with citrus notes. It goes perfectly with a casual daytime outfit in the sun. The initial vigor changes, but by 6 hours it smells rich with that typical vetiver and musk of fresh fragrances. In a tasting, that unusual bitterness stood out among sweet and spicy nights. What’s more valuable than building experiences with a perfume? Italian Love (what a summery name) is one of those you enjoy smelling. It’s a pity your 100ml bottle, with about 70 left, gets used carefully due to discontinuation. An aroma you haven’t matched on your first use. It hurts to think that one day you won’t smell Italian love anymore. You cling to the hope that the market will bottle it again in a future summer. At least the opening. That opening, please. You’ve searched for it in Tygar, Amber Bergamot, and Terre d’Hermès Eau Grivrée. They’re similar, but it’s not the same.
A juicy, sweet grapefruit is what you feel when you put on this DGIL. If you add woods and musk to those citrus notes, it’s impossible for a mortal not to like it. On my skin, it lasts more than 8 hours and projects well for the first 2. If there’s a flaw to mention (which honestly I don’t care about) it’s how linear the fragrance is throughout its life. For summer, a safe bet, 100% recommended. Score: 8.5/10.
I’m just here to vent my anger over why they replaced the magnificent LIGHT BLUE FOREVER with this Ba Su Ra. It doesn’t last at all and projects poorly compared to the Forever. If you see an opportunity to buy the Forever version, don’t hesitate for a second.
What a pity it’s only a limited edition. It’s super versatile, rich, and complete, a beast that fills the room and leaves you smelling like it. I haven’t tried anything like this before; since they’re no longer making it, I hope to come across something very similar.
100% summer fragrance. The opening hits you hard with grapefruit, but juicy and sweet, not acidic, and continues with that citrus shifting into something marine and ozonic. For me, the best of the day: fresh, clean, and juicy. It’s a compliment bomb; if it weren’t for the longevity, it would be a 10. I have skin that brings out the best, its trail lasts an hour and the scent 4-5 hours, but for the magnificent smell, I love it and forgive the poor performance.
What a cool vibe turning the sun around with this on in summer. Full musk and full citrus too. It doesn’t smell natural, but when things are done right, it’s like something the high heavens defecated.
Caught this by accident this summer of 2024; it’s the limited 2022 edition and they’re no longer making it (now they’re pushing the 2023 Light Blue Summer Vibes, at least here). Smells amazing, hype justified: fresh but with its own scent that sets it apart from the regular and Intense versions. I haven’t tried the 2021 Forever, but people say they’re similar. So, how does it smell? Citrusy and bitter opening with grapefruit, then softening with a rich peach note without losing the acidity. Balanced by musk and a soft wood base, and though they don’t say it, there’s ginger in the opening that gives it a spark. Very tasty aroma, fresh but intense for the first two hours. Dry down is nice, with the grapefruit still there but less explosive. One of those fruity/citrus scents that, even if synthetic, smell expensive. Good longevity for summer, decent projection: strong for an hour and a half, then 4-5 hours in a bubble, totaling 6-7 hours, sometimes up to 9 if close to the skin. Great for hot afternoons and nights, also during the day if it’s not over 30 degrees. Works well from informal to semi-formal, especially in the first hour. Has something unique and summery that makes it stand out among the usual fresh fragrances. Unisex with a masculine touch. Highly recommended, though hard to find. I won’t pay the 100+ euros on eBay (there are better niche or designer options at that price, like Dior, Loewe, or Hermès), but if you can get it at commercial price, 60-65€ for 100ml or 40-45€ for 50ml, tester, or in a drugstore, don’t hesitate; they sell out fast. EDIT 12/03/2025: Tried the Light Blue Forever, they’re 90-95% identical. The Forever’s grapefruit is stronger and more natural at the start and doesn’t sweeten as much as the Italian Love; it stays more linear and the wood base is slightly more noticeable. The Forever lasts longer (1.5 hours more) and the Italian Love projects more in the first two hours, but in air and on skin they’re indistinguishable and both very recognizable by the grapefruit. Both are equally hard to find, so if you come across one at a good price, go for it.
My favorite of the summer and of all seasons. That juicy, refreshing grapefruit. Hands down, the best Light Blue.
My top 1 for summer: Italy, mojito, and sea in a bottle, even though I have over 20 perfumes… it’s only surpassed by Arancia Rossa from Laboratorio Olfativo, which smells almost the same but is the niche version.
It’s an afternoon in Italy with a white shirt ☀️, perfect for the heat 💙🤍
Refreshing, energizing, and charming. A fragrance with very well-executed ‘natural’ citrus nuances that revitalize me by breaking the habit of sweet perfumes. The touch of violet and woody base complements it nicely. Highly recommended.
Something curious happened to me. Today, the decant of this summer Italian Love scent arrived. Upon smelling it, I had a complete satisfaction enjoying the effervescence of slightly sweet citrus, a tropical sensation. Something in my subconscious reminded me of familiarity with another scent. Shortly after, I showed my wrist to my wife and a client, and the latter said it smelled like an older person, which caught me off guard given the reviews defined it as youthful. Later, when deciding whether to order it—since the price is high and it’s discontinued—I looked for something similar, but there weren’t many options. Checking the notes, the first thing that jumped out was the GREEN NOTES. At that moment, 212 NYC Men came to mind, as I know those notes dominate that classic, and I discovered that from the very first second, Italian Love led me to that familiarity, though my untrained nose didn’t connect them immediately. Ah, now the ‘why’ behind why a 21-year-old client associated it with someone older. Reviewing the other notes, I was impressed by the similarity: grapefruit, green notes, bergamot, violet, vetiver, musk, and guaiac wood. Since I sprayed one on each wrist, both project intensely at first, smelling of grapefruit and green notes, full of similarity but not identical. Almost 2 hours later, when dried, they still sound similar, with 212 having better projection due to the incense, which makes it darker; Italian is more cheerful and sweet. Grapefruit and green notes dominate from the start, but the incense makes 212 feel more mature. Italian is almost linear, while 212 has a better composition and development. 212 is denser and more mature, like the 35-year-old older brother, and Italian is the 20-year-old younger sibling. Which is better? Subjective. For me, 212 by Alberto Morillas. But Italian is still a great scent; pity it only came to be a summer fling.
Delicious. I got it used with almost 90ml at a great price. Recommended if you have the chance to get your hands on it.
Along with Forever, these are the best, not just of Light Blue but of the entire brand. It’s a synthetic grapefruit, citrus with a hint of green and a density that gives it weight. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it simply works. It’s rare that, once Dolce & Gabbana found the right path, they later released ‘Summer Vibes,’ which is a total fiasco. Without these two limited editions, this line would be in the trash. This is the perfect fresh scent, better than Armani or Dior; I don’t understand how nobody has recreated it. It smells rich, lasts well. It’s very good. 10/10.
Super happy I snagged this for $70, 100ml sealed after searching so long! What a beautiful perfume, from the bottle to the color and the scent. If you know Forever, this is basically the same at the start, but here I feel it’s more balanced with a more realistic grapefruit. What I love most is that when it dries down, it keeps that luminous, citrusy energy. In short, it’s the improved version of Forever. For those who don’t know it, it smells like grapefruit peel with the white pith releasing oils, over a base of green notes. It also performs better. Great perfume and it’s already a collection item. 8/10.
WHAT A DELICIOUS PERFUME! I’ve been wanting to try it for ages, but now it’s hard to find since they stopped producing it. Luckily, I grabbed a 50ml bottle on Instagram and didn’t hesitate to buy it. Upon spraying, it’s a fresh, vibrant grapefruit—super clean and refreshing, very summery. It’s typical of the Light Blue line, perfect for the beach. Over time, it evolves into green notes, patchouli, and a salty touch that reminds you of the sea. The downside is that it doesn’t last long, typical of an EDT; in my case, about 4 hours, but it’s worth reapplying because it smells so good. Overall, perfect for everyday wear, especially in the heat or for going to the beach. Scent: 9/10 Sillage: 5/10 Longevity: 4/10
The king of citrus. I went through an entire bottle; it’s a shame it’s no longer available. I would definitely buy it again. It smells amazing and, above all, lasts a long time for this type of fragrance.
