Descripción
Burlington 1819 by Roja Dove is an oriental fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2020, this composition was created by perfumer Roja Dove. Its top notes unfold a vibrant, citrus opening with grapefruit, mint, lime, bitter orange, and mandarin. The heart is nourished by a complex spicy and woody accord, while the base reveals a deep, evocatory foundation featuring ambergris, tobacco, oakmoss, ginger, rum, cashmere wood, cedar, musk, patchouli, cumin, benzoin, labdanum, cinnamon, vanilla, and saffron.

Out of this world. It starts with a bitter citrus accord similar to A Midsummer Dream, then spices, sweetness, rosewood, woods, and balsams are added. That initial bitterness never goes away and dominates the entire wear. It seems like they mixed too many notes and the drydown isn’t what you’d expect. The bitter and sweet, the citrus and balsamic… it feels like they threw everything in to see what would happen. In the end, it’s a pass, but the price makes it hard to recommend. Test it, sure, but buy it? Let each person decide. Good performance (around 8 hours) and a strong sillage for the first two hours, then you just notice it’s there. Better for spring/summer, maybe autumn.
A celestial fragrance. In terms of quality-to-price ratio, it’s the best Roja I’ve tried out of over 20. Sweet citrus with cardamom, just enough to give it robustness and masculinity. I love it; it’s the niche, gentlemanly version of Guerlain’s L’homme Ideal Cologne. Performance is average, but the bottle is a work of art.
It didn’t hook me. The top is purely citrus with a mentholated touch, but it has an unbearable bitterness, like beet stems—sharp and annoying. As it dries down, it changes radically: it’s a Baccarat Rouge without the sweetness, with a bitter vegetable note reminiscent of tomato. It’s very similar to Jovoy’s 21st. It’s a masterful composition that smells luxurious and high-class, but it’s so peculiar that people around you might find it a bit ‘off’.
Juan de Huéleme Mucho has said it all. The opening is a bit disappointing—very citrusy and generic—but the magic happens around the 30-minute mark. To me, it reminds me of Ganymede: hazy notes creating a super-elegant mineral blend. It evolves beautifully, now smelling like a wicker basket. It lives up to its reputation.
