No one is going to say it’s exactly 100% the same as CK One Shock, but still with less longevity…? I stick with CK One Shock because, being identical, it costs less than half and lasts a bit longer.

  • Zezecalderon

Definitely didn’t meet my expectations; it’s very redundant with the EDP from this line. On me, it has no projection and longevity is very poor. I’ll keep it just for the collection; it has absolutely nothing special. I don’t have a trained nose, but I don’t smell the Chilean note; well, the truth is that in my country there isn’t that, and we have relatives with very potent aromas like dew, yellow ají, and green ají (my favorite), and maybe I expected a potent and fragrant scent like those. Expectations were way above reality; I’ll keep it just to have the complete collection.

  • I bought a decant, another good decision. A bit sweet for my taste and quite delicate, as generally said. I’m searching for my preferred aromas, and this isn’t one of them. One day I’ll use it at a wedding to see how it works with that outfit and atmosphere. There’s no doubt about its quality and elegance.

  • It has a strange opening and a wonderful dry-down. Very far from the toasted, sensual almond of the L’Homme Idéal EDT. The dry-down is almond-y, slightly vanilla, with a touch of fruitiness, some leather, and a faint smoky aroma that accompanies but isn’t an invasive smoke or the classic toast of the EDT. It’s different, yes, but superior to the EDT? No. It lasts 6 hours, low projection, single-person bubble. With distance or a mask, it’s a challenge for someone to smell it. The dry-down is pleasant, but it lacks that warm, elegant, and sensual embrace that the EDT offers.

  • My girlfriend’s favorite along with Azzaro’s Wanted by Night. At first, you feel the spicy pepper, which smells to me like the chili shampoo I use. Then comes the almond and leather (I was happy to feel it, it’s my favorite note), followed by vanilla and tonka bean. It doesn’t project much, but when you kiss women, they always notice. It’s one of the fragrances that has gotten me the most compliments. It lasts 6-8 hours on my skin and clothes. Men want projection, but many women get headaches from invasive perfumes. Finally, it’s for evening wear.

  • From the Ideal line, my favorite. Besides the typical almond touch, you can taste a very rich smoky vanilla. It’s warm, autumnal, with medium longevity that makes it intimate and sophisticated. It’s my wife’s favorite.

  • nachovorago

A fruity version of the original, slightly alcoholic, with an evening intention and acceptable longevity. Projection is good for a couple of hours. I tested it in summer with nights around 20 degrees, and I think it’s great at that temperature or lower; with more heat, it’s not enjoyable, and in full winter it wouldn’t fit the vibe. I see it as totally unisex, like almost the entire L’Homme Idéal collection (maybe except the Intense).

  • I love it! Perfumon. I own the whole line and like them all. It’s different, elegant, and sexy. I don’t understand why men keep buying popular brands when there are these Guerlain beauties out there. While everyone smells like Dior or Chanel, let’s talk about the garbage from Carolina Herrera or Paco Rabanne. There are classy men who choose Guerlain. You’ll stand out from the typical crowd, and women will notice. Same with the EDP or the Extrema.

  • Isaac Blanco

Elegant, sophisticated, and creamy, sweet without being cloying. Six sprays on damp skin, and after 8 hours it’s still present, just not projecting but there. Batch 2020 in a clear bottle leaves a nice trail and is excellent, similar to the EDP. I love it.

  • I’ve had it for a short time and it’s already a delight: sweet, almond-y, creamy, with a hint of alcohol. Five sprays last 8 hours before becoming skin scent (new formula). Once the projection fades, it smells spicy, with a subtle nod to Bvlgari’s Man in Black. I love it.

  • An explosion of aromas that blend with mastery. The chili tickles at first, followed by cardamomo, until the almond takes control. Then comes a spectacular rose over fine leather and suede, with top-quality vanilla, tonka bean, and perfectly crafted patchouli. The subtle sandalwood and smoky touch close the work. It’s not an air freshener or a repellent; it’s art. It doesn’t have to last forever, just long enough to fulfill its purpose.

  • What a disappointment. I had the old black bottle and loved it, but when I bought the new transparent one, the change was for the worse. It lasts less, smells more watery, and lacks depth. Such a shame.

  • FelipeRolon

Between the EDT and this version, I chose the Intense because it lasts longer: about seven hours compared to the four of the EDT. To me, it smells like chili at first, something I don’t like and don’t understand what it’s for. After ten minutes, the chili disappears, and creamy almond, leather, rose, and vanilla come through. It’s a perfume for fresh mornings, not so much for dates. Don’t let the bottle fool you; it’s perfect for a walk in the park. It’s a gem that surprises without offending. Scent: 7/10, Longevity: 7/10, Presentation: 9/10, Quality: 10/10, Versatility in cold weather: 10/10.

  • Memoquique

It’s the most winter-like and sweet of the line, but undoubtedly the one I dislike the least. I didn’t buy it because I already have the Extreme and the EDP, which do the same thing but better, so I exchanged it.

L’Homme Ideal L’Intense was my introduction to Guerlain, about 5 years ago. It was a house I didn’t know; they offered it to me with the premise that it was an exclusive perfume and I wouldn’t know anyone else wearing it because Guerlain isn’t very well-known compared to other designer brands bombarding us on TV. I decided to try it, and I was hooked. What smell was that? Spicy, smoky… such a strange combination, such a natural and exquisite aroma 😱 I still remember that moment and how this perfume blew my mind, that flood of new sensations before this wonderful gem. Did I buy it right after smelling it? No and yes: no because I left and said I’d put it on my wrist to see how it evolved, and then, 10 minutes after leaving the store, I went back for it 😂 It’s one of my favorite perfumes and offers everything I ask for in a fragrance: quality in its notes, exclusivity, elegance, longevity, and sillage (though sometimes slightly scarce). Guerlain is, as I always say, another world. There are designer perfumes, niche perfumes, and Guerlain. It’s a category in itself. Along with L’Homme Ideal EDP, my favorites from the line.

  • The scent of this fragrance is hard to describe. When I first smelled it, I detected a pepper note, then cardamomo, and later, as it dried down, smoky leather. When you read these notes, it’s hard to imagine they could work well together (at least for me), but they do, leaving a good and very curious aroma. It’s clear that in this proposal, Guerlain decided to distance itself from designer perfumery. Honestly, it’s not my favorite within the line, but I have to admit it’s the most original.

  • Quite similar to the EDP, but L’Intense feels spicier, more woody, a bit more mature, formal, and masculine than the EDP. Very pleasant too, but because of that slightly spicy vibe, being less versatile, and because in my opinion it’s less sensual, I prefer the EDP.

I used to love this perfume. I hate nostalgia because it’s often frustrating and conservative, but what some perfume houses do to certain products is unforgivable—it makes you never buy from them again. Along with the EDT, L’Homme Ideal L’Intense felt like the best of the long L’Homme Ideal saga from Guerlain, a historic house with deep roots in the finest French perfumery. Unfortunately, in 2023, L’Intense feels like just another mediocre designer fragrance among the hundreds flooding the market. It’s impersonal, boring, exhausting, conservative, repetitive, and on top of that, expensive. The bottle is no longer black, cool, and unique like it used to be, and the scent? It’s not as intense, as dark, or as long-lasting anymore. And that’s the worst part. Now let me explain the cheap performance. Guerlain’s privileged brains want to change their image and compete to the death with other snooty French designer brands in the first division. Tremble, Givenchy, Dior, and Chanel. Okay, wait—no more darkness, no challenging or weird scents, all square transparent bottles and grey minimalist boxes. I first met this L’Homme Ideal L’Intense about four years ago because I gifted it to my dad for Christmas. He loved the brand because he’d spent years on Heritage. There’s probably half a bottle left; I’ll take it. Today, summer 2023, if you go to a Spanish perfume store—normal chain ones like Druni or Primor (or even El Corte Inglés)—they’ll have a tester, and it’s very likely the old black bottle version. Even if you’re looking for the old one, they’ll trick you (unfortunately, the young staff generally don’t know shit, I repeat). You’ll spend 80 bucks thinking you snagged a discontinued gem, a royal fetish fragrance, and BAM—it’s the fucking new reformulation. Let me tell you, they’ve softened it. You can call it reformulated: you won’t smell the leather or smokiness of the other anymore. Here comes the cheap whopper: this one won’t last 8 hours, for sure, max 5 hours, and off you go like a little bird. Full stop. Death and the pit. The solution is to act like the typical nerdy/gangster guy from the batches who occasionally shows up at all perfume stores (they call them that everywhere, and they know them all). Like a watchmaker inspecting a Rolex or a CSIC scientist examining a germ under a microscope, check the bottoms of the boxes to try and spot the tiny batch number, hidden behind the shiny plastic seals. Then, pull out your phone and go to Check Fresh to verify the perfume’s batch. In short: shit like Burgos Cathedral. If I were you, either grab the old version on eBay (be careful: only from trusted private sellers with real photos of the unsealed bottle; there are plenty of scammers online who Google images and pass them off as real; better yet, show the actual bottle) or don’t buy it, go for another fragrance or another from the line. The “charm” of this fragrance was the classic sweet almond note of the saga mixed with dark notes (chili, leather, smoke) that set it apart, giving it a niche touch, very original, very masculine, mature, and elegant, though less versatile than the EDT, EDP, or Extreme, which to me smell like wax with all that sweet cherry. If you now take away and reduce what made it good, you kill it. Plus, it’s an expensive fragrance; 100ml never drops below 80 bucks. With that or a bit more, 10, 20 euros more, you get niche colognes with incredible scents. That’s what’s out there in this disgusting world we breathe in, which only lives and moves for money. Cheers, brother.

  • L’Imperceptible: Like all in this family, Intense is barely perceptible. It’s elegant, discreet, and has very poor performance; it’s nothing like intense. If it were more potent, it would be a bomb. That said, it’s a delicate creation highly recommended.

  • @JuanMa2412, which bottle are you using, the matte black or the clear? The latter was said to have dropped significantly in performance, but I’ve heard the original black one hits hard on testers. Anyway, if what you say is true, it’s a shame. I’m a huge Guerlain fan, but it’s true that, with some exceptions, they tend to reformulate and reduce performance even if the price stays the same. Best regards.

  • I picked up a 50ml bottle of the first version (black) and it’s a masterpiece, elegant and very warm.

Today I went to buy a Valentino and tested this on my skin, even though I already had plans for what I was going to do. I spent 20 minutes in the store, and when I went to pay for the Valentino, I told the sales assistant to wait so I could grab this one too. It feels like a fragrance with its own soul, excellent, and unlike anything else. 100% recommended. Edit: I managed to get a batch from almost 6 years ago, the black bottle. I don’t know if the new clear version is still just as good.

L’Homme Ideal E Intense are pleasant surprises. The opening is exquisite with almond, cardamom, and chili (which I don’t love entirely, but it adds character). It doesn’t fill the room, but it doesn’t go unnoticed. After the first few minutes, the leather and labdanum shine; the Bulgarian rose seems a bit shy. The smoke and tonka bean add firm masculinity without being aggressive, and the vanilla rounds everything off with sweetness. I didn’t expect much when I bought it, but it pleasantly surprised me. It reminds me slightly of Mancera’s Tonka Cola; both are delicious but with their own flair: Intense is more serious and seductive, while Tonka Cola is warmer and more jovial. I’m out of words to describe this gem. If there was a reformulation, I can’t imagine what the original was like. I bought the clear bottle and loved it.

  • danynitro90

Continuation of the review (Feb 29): I went to buy it again two weeks ago, and although the tester was old, I ended up getting a new bottle. It’s true that it’s not as strong as the old batch, but criticizing it like some people do is sacrilege. It’s still a great perfume with good sillage and decent longevity. It’s not the typical one that loses its spark after a reformulation. If it used to last 10-12 hours, now it’s 8-10, but the scent is the same. Safe buy; that bitter almond and leather scent is outstanding quality. One of my favorites.

  • Polydistortion

What a beautiful fragrance, too bad I got the bottle I like the least. Apart from that, the scent is a 10 out of 10.

  • Wilson Manolito

Amazing perfume. At first, I just liked it, but the more I wear it, the more I love it. It’s long-lasting, sophisticated, and makes you stand out because few wear fragrances with almond, smoky, and spicy notes that work so well. A great creation by Guerlain, perfect for cold weather or rainy days. I have the clear bottle version, but I compared it with the black one and barely noticed any difference in scent or longevity.

  • RicardoPowa123

It’s very similar to L’Homme Ideal EDP but with leather and chili added. It’s a very wearable, pleasant leather that adds depth, while the chili brings a sweet touch. Very original and exquisite. It’s almost identical to Spicebomb Infrared EDP since they share those ingredients. I tested it against the other one, and the similarity is total.

  • I bought this fragrance over two years ago and never quite understood it, but I get it now—it’s meant to be different. What did happen is that the same woman told me twice it smelled like a women’s perfume; from a distance, she probably caught the Bulgarian Rose note, so I assume it has good projection. I wore it during the day in summer. I’ll give it one last shot for nighttime or winter wear. Definitely not a fragrance to buy blindly. Update, May 23, 2025: Now I know why it smelled feminine—it’s the Bulgarian Rose. Guess which perfume it resembles? Rose, leather, and sandalwood, just like this one… yep… DIOR HOMME PARFUM. It’s quite similar in dry-down.

  • It’s a niche fragrance, sophisticated and full of personality, nothing like designer scents. I love its opening and how it evolves; that blend of almond and cardamomo makes it versatile, perfect for any season except extreme heat. It smells distinct and isn’t annoying. The only downside is the performance: my 2023 batch doesn’t last or project well. On skin, it lasts 3 hours in the cold and up to 6 on clothes, but projects for only about half an hour. I’ll let it macerate and hope it improves.

  • It has that scent profile I just don’t connect with. A fresh, almost metallic vanilla paired with smoky spices and the line’s almond note. One of the least appealing to me. In my opinion, completely unnecessary.

  • This perfume is special. That almond note is particularly strange because it drowns out the others swirling around. Very masculine yet charming for dates, clearly a winter scent. It drives women crazy. Update: TOM FORD FEELS SMALL NEXT TO GUERLAIN.

  • Acidic, vinegar-like opening—I think that’s my take on ambroxan. Dries down to an incredibly rich spicy scent. Complex, unisex aroma with tobacco, cardamom, vanilla, and woody notes, plus a touch of sweet aquatic. But… WHY DOES NO ONE MENTION HOW EXTREMELY SIMILAR IT IS TO HALFETI AND MR. SAM FROM PENHALIGONS? It’s almost as if they layered Egoiste by Chanel with Halfeti, leaning much closer to the latter. At a fraction of the price (and complexity, sillage, and longevity), it’s a must-consider alternative.

  • Avalon1224

I love the evolution of this perfume: starting with a spicy but non-irritating opening, well-balanced with cardamom and almond, to a mystical dry-down featuring sandalwood and smoke, yet modern thanks to the vanilla. Unlike L’Homme Idéal, the almond is present but not the star. The sophistication and uniqueness of this fragrance reinforce my love for Guerlain perfumes.

  • STGO.DECANT

L’Homme Idéal L’Intense is a winter-only perfume. I used it again today because it was freezing; in my country, days like this happen only 2 or 3 times a year. It smells incredibly good, and its longevity on skin is 8 to 10 hours. On clothes, it easily lasts 24 hours. I’m lucky to have the black bottle, which they say has a beastly formula (though I don’t feel it’s that intense). What stands out most is a sweet, smoky, woody creaminess, likely from the sandalwood. I don’t sense any floral or rose notes, maybe that rose is just sweeter and blends beautifully with the tonka and vanilla. Unfortunately, it’s a perfume I get to wear rarely due to the weather, but it’s a 10/10.

  • I liked it quite a bit. At first, it didn’t last at all, but I left it in its box for a month, and when I put it back on, the performance was insane. I sprayed it ten times, thinking it wouldn’t last like it did before, and it was a bomb—it projected really well. At a meeting 30 minutes later, someone asked if I smelled like perfume; they confirmed I smelled much stronger, from two meters away. That day lasted about 7 hours. I’m super happy with this fragrance and that it needed to macerate, since I love the aroma, which is very different from everything else.

  • Honestly, I’ve tried every single one in the line, and this is the best. It has a creamy, sweet almond note that isn’t cloying, while the rest of the notes embrace it perfectly. It leaves a sweet impression on the skin without going overboard. It’s hard to explain, but it’s by far the one that has earned me the most compliments. I’ve worn it in all kinds of situations, and everyone, men and women alike, has loved it. It’s an absolute marvel, lasts forever, and on clothes? You can’t even tell.

  • I own a ton of fragrances and always hunt for the ‘perfect’ one until I get tired of it. This smells citrusy at first, even though it’s not listed, with an almond and cardamomo touch that adds a spicy kick from the chili. It’s herbal and fresh, hits the nose immediately, then evolves into something sweet. I’ve received countless compliments both right after spraying and as it dries down. It feels like a niche scent, especially at the start, with that herbal, spicy patchouli vibe that I love. It stands apart from today’s mass-market perfumes. In my opinion, it’s excellent; it won’t appeal to everyone, but it will enchant many, especially those who know their way around this world.
