Love at first sniff. I was already excited about the notes, but once I saw the entire L’Art & la Matière collection, I was completely sold. It opens with a powerful cocoa note mixed with a ton of rum. As it dries down, it becomes sweeter without being cloying, as the name might suggest. On skin, it settles into tonka bean and rum. Totally unisex.
I’m not sure if it’s similar to Gourmand Coquin. It’s a refined cocoa fragrance, sweet but with that bitter, spiced, smoky touch. To my nose, the flowers and rum round everything out without overpowering. The trail is soft but lasts forever, sticking to the skin until the next day. Pure quality, nothing synthetic. Due to the scent, it’s not for every day; it’s meant to be enjoyed on special occasions.
I didn’t know Gourmand Coquin, so I tried it from scratch and absolutely loved it. It opens with an immediate powdered cocoa, less dusty than Chocolate Greedy. The rum is very present, surrounded by spices. The rose doesn’t dominate, but it adds an elegant floral touch. It’s gourmand, yet not cloying, with a boozy and spiced twist.
Feve Gourmande is dry, natural, boozy, and smoky cocoa. In the dry down, a subtle woody touch. Everything feels realistic and gourmand, like brewing a potion in an old wooden kitchen. The liquor and smoke give it dark, mystical, and elegant nuances without losing its gourmand character. It feels warm, dense, and cozy. Perfect for a sweet winter night outdoors. At home, it feels a bit heavy with an immense trail and over 10 hours of longevity. My boyfriend, who loves sweets, finds it a bit cloying. I wore it yesterday and it’s still there today. It’s a high-quality beast. Not for daily wear, but perfect when I crave those vibes, so I’m happy with the split. I don’t know if it’s similar to Gourmand Coquin since I haven’t tried it, though I’ve heard they are.
