Descripción

Le Male In The Navy by Jean Paul Gaultier is an oriental fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by Quentin Bisch and Natalie Gracia-Cetto. The top notes reveal mint and aquatic accords; the heart unfolds marine aromas; and the base notes complete the olfactory pyramid with vanilla and ambergris.

  • Le Male has more brothers than Enrique Iglesias. This one would be Julio Iglesias Jr.; he takes something good from his father, like the vanilla, and turns it into a boring, commercial aquatic scent à la Invictus. Plus, it’s a bit outdated since it’s not easily found in stores. Enough with the flankers and launching new lines like ‘Le Transsexualité’ or ‘Le Asexualité’; innovate a bit. If I really have to, I’ll sign a petition on change.org.

It has a very pleasant smell where its aquatic, sweet, and masculine, youthful notes really come through. Maybe the thing I like least is its poor longevity.

  • Never imagined a Gaultier would disappoint me this much, but they already did when Puig took over Jean Paul. I knew it would become as generic and cheap as Paco Rabanne or Ch. I tested it anyway: a scent I’ve heard before in other perfumes, smelling like cheap, ordinary perfume. Even many line items sell for high prices and smell exactly like this; it’s the Invictus Aqua smell. I didn’t like it a bit. It was skin-level in 5 minutes, and 90% of it was gone by half an hour. It’s a rip-off for the price, especially since Le Male smells great even when heavily reformulated. Not recommended; Jean Nate still smells better and lasts an hour on skin compared to this thing. It’s a mix of an ordinary Invictus and a clone of Le Beau Male by Estela: very, very poor. 3/10 longevity, ordinary Zara-level quality.

  • It has a pretty good opening that differs from the classic version while keeping its DNA. A few minutes later, that fresh mint calms down to become a sweeter menthol. It smells like pleasant, youthful mint gum with a clean touch. After two hours, it starts sticking more to the skin, but the scent remains the same, just less fresh, with vanilla gaining presence. Pretty linear so far. After three hours, I perceive much more vanilla. Synthetic but pleasant smell; the mint is less noticeable. Sillage and projection drop considerably. Lasts about 4 hours; heavy projection and sillage at first, then moderate and fading by the end. Youthful, fresh, and warm aroma from the mint and vanilla, cozy due to its clean tone, though too generic. Not very suitable for those over 30 with a formal image or for offices. Good for young people on outdoor evening walks, with friends, in informal settings. Not for night or cold weather. Scent: 7.5, Longevity: 4, Versatility: 6, Total: 6.5.

Things are going bad at home! We don’t know where this is going to end up. To start with, what a ‘ordinary’ smell, that contributes nothing and doesn’t even inspire using it. For me it’s a creamy version of Eros with low quality, zero projection and longevity; it’s a joke.

  • A good deal sometimes leads to blind buying… This happened to me and I fell hard for the pretty tin and the more vibrant colored little man, supposedly more virile. I found a pleasant and easy-to-use juice, unlike the original Male, so it’s less potent. Here the vanilla is soft, blended by the aquatic notes. The mint is very intense at the start, spicy and fresh. The amber feels good and gives a sweet, fresh, and orangey blend that lasts a good while and projects moderately. It has, it’s true, points and crosses between Eros, Invictus, and Gucci Black, but the ambroxan distinguishes it. I think it’s worth it, especially if it’s on sale. It’s not a work of art, but it has pros… It’s youthful, versatile, for day or night at informal parties, and for slathering on generously. Approved.

  • It’s pleasant, wearable, softer and fresher, but less potent and aniseed than the original. The bad thing is that theoretically it’s the same cake with a different topping. Therefore, better to test before buying; if you’re looking for something original, this isn’t your case. Originality: 5/10, Projection: 7/10, Price: 4/10.

  • Sometimes a good deal leads to blind buying, and here I fell for that tin can and the colorful little man, thinking it would be more virile. The juice is pleasant and easy to wear, less potent than the original Le Male. The vanilla is soft, diluted by aquatic notes; the mint is intense and spicy at first, and the amber gives a sweet, fresh, orangey blend that lasts and projects moderately. It has points and crosses between Eros, Invictus, and Gucci Black, but the ambergris distinguishes it. Worth it, especially on sale. It’s not a work of art, but it has pros: youthful, versatile for day or informal parties, and perfect for slathering on. Approved.

  • The perfume isn’t bad, it goes well, but its big downside is that it’s the flanker of the flanker of the flanker; it smells like something you’ve probably heard before. Remember: fragrance enters through the eyes, and here it only wins thanks to its beautiful presentation, ideal for collecting the bottle.

Eros Aquatic. As is customary with successful perfumes, companies milk their popularity, and Le Male is no exception. In my opinion, they are all the same with a small change; I’m not a fan of JPG, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Le Male In The Navy came as an aquatic proposal for the heat (which didn’t work, and then they made Le Beau), but upon smelling it, it still reminds me of Le Male, just a bit more modern. In conclusion, it seemed like a marine Eros: you don’t have to dig deep, it smells good, but it’s just mint, vanilla, and marine notes. They could have saved this flanker, because besides having an annoying base that smells like dampness (ambroxan, I guess). Performance isn’t great either; that’s why I found this launch mediocre, in the desperation of continuing to drink from the Le Male water before it runs out. In heat it can be annoying due to the vanilla, in cold it gets lost with the marine notes; I don’t find an occasion to use it where there aren’t better options. Scent: 7/10. Longevity: 6/10. Sillage: 4/10. Occasion: enclosed spaces in heat. God’s plan 🦉.

  • @juangse made a joke about Transsexualité and the year 2022, JPG releases Equality… another Le Male flanker, lol, what’s up.

  • @juangse made a joke about transsexuality and the year 2022, JPG releases ‘equalité’… another Le Male flanker, haha, that’s hilarious.

  • To be honest, I won’t say it smells bad, because it smells good, but it’s not for open spaces because it has a very poor sillage; you only smell it if you press your nose right against the skin. The scent is fresh, marine-type, and pleasant, but if you want a girl to be fascinated by your smell, you’ll have to tell her to get close to your neck (there you can take advantage and eat her up, haha). As for longevity, it’s average, and mostly it lasts on clothes. Scent: 7.5. Longevity: 5. Sillage: 3. Price: 5. Would I buy again? No.

I had a lot of hype for this flanker because I read it was exclusive at Macy’s and I thought ‘noooo, that’s unfair!’, but thank God I found it easily at any perfumerie. Le Male In The Navy smells almost like Paco Rabanne Pure XS dry down, mixed with the original Le Male and the Versace Eros reformulation. It’s not an original scent, but well, it’s a flanker; at least it doesn’t smell like the latest summer editions of Le Male: Popeye, Superman, and André. This one is different. I won’t say it smells synthetic, that would be stupid, but it smells weird, not in a bad way, just because the pure notes aren’t noticeable. It smells like mint gum, it’s okay, but the vanilla (Jean Paul Gaultier’s favorite) is barely noticeable and skin longevity is very low. The bottle is beautiful but not original, it looks a lot like Le Male Couple 2013, but it feels different. But the can… oh, the can is an incredible work of art! I love it. I would have loved if they printed the can drawing on the chest of the bottle, at least it would be prettier.

One of the worst from JPG; it smells like a slight aquatic mint, no other notes are noticeable, and for seconds it reminds you of a Chinese version of Versace’s Eros, but it has nothing to do with it; honestly, they really messed up making something so bad. It’s a failure and a scam for anyone buying this with capital letters. To start, I’ll say I didn’t expect it to be one of JPG’s best, but at least a flanker worth having for something casual with at least decent longevity. But quite the opposite, much to my dismay, and a disappointment. I returned it the same day; it’s a real scam. No matter how much you spray, it won’t last longer; I tried spraying myself more than ten times, and the only thing that smelled was very strong soap, a horror. Its longevity and projection are ridiculous. My rating for JPG In The Navy: Scent 0, it’s terrible. Projection: you have to spray yourself about 15 times and it lasts a little over an hour. And its longevity, despite spraying a lot, doesn’t last much.

Absolute worst of JPG: smells like very soft aquatic mint, nothing else. At first, it reminds me of a Chinese version of Versace Eros, but it has nothing to do with it. They really messed up making something this bad. It’s a failure and a rip-off for anyone who buys it. I didn’t expect it to be the best, but I did expect a decent casual flanker. The opposite: total disappointment. I returned it the same day; it’s a scam. No matter how many times you apply it; I tried it more than ten times and it just smells like really strong laundry detergent, a horror. The longevity and projection are ridiculous. Scent: 0. It’s terrible. Projection: you have to douse yourself about 15 times and it lasts barely an hour.
