Hypnotic Poison by Dior

Honestly, who are you and what have you done with Dior? Come out from wherever you’re hiding because I’m coming for your jugular. WHY REFORMULATE LIKE THIS?? I understand there are interests with ingredients and the ‘synthesization’ of molecules, leading to an olfactory dehumanization. Cursed day I read that HPoison smells like Play-Doh. I had the memory of my post-adolescence with this intoxicating and sensual perfume, and I thought: to Play-Doh… wow, what a stroke of genius. I went to the perfumerie to restock the second bottle after eons without seeing it, since it went viral and even Blanco stores used its clone. No, thanks. A few years ago I restocked after the avalanche, thinking it would be the same. Ekisdé. Play-Doh :___) Synthetic and with zero of the orgasmic essence it had before. People are lucky they don’t have a refined nose, or pff, that their tastes swim in the synthetic… But my nose detects what’s not good. I’d almost lean towards the EDP over this. They are different perfumes, but the trail of the old EDT intoxicated you and now it’s pitiful. Like in a famous sketch: ‘But it’s the same thing’ – ‘mmm, but it’s not the same’. Play-Doh and 70 euros in the trash. Anyone want it?

It was my signature for many years and the one I repurchased most often. I wore it at 15 and I’m still wearing it at 30. I feel that over time they’ve lowered the intensity and longevity, like many others, but it remains beautiful. It’s gourmand without being cloying; you can really smell the vanilla, then the almond and sandalwood. Once I had dinner with my family and my uncle said, ‘there’s a smell of flan’ xD, it was me with my Hypnotic Poison. Yes, it smells like vanilla, but I don’t feel like it smells like a little dessert (I don’t want to smell like dessert). I’ve been complimented a lot, especially by men. Unfortunately, my boyfriend doesn’t like it, which surprised me. I try to wear it alone, but I definitely use it less.

They only sprayed it on my wrists and arms. From the very first moment, the notes seemed horrible to me: I searched on TikTok and couldn’t find any presence. It smells like something very sweet mixed with strong, indistinct notes. As it dried down in the store, the intensity dropped and it seemed like a children’s medicine, like cherry-flavored menthol syrup. I couldn’t see myself wearing it on more areas and I don’t understand why they recommend it for passionate nights. The longevity is short and the sillage is small, though if it’s for passion, it makes sense. I would never buy it, glad I didn’t just dive in blind.

Super sensual and sticky perfume with a mysterious vibe. Smells like a femme fatale: confident, strong-willed, and very clear about what she wants. It doesn’t try to please; it simply attracts. The vanilla, almond, and coconut notes create a creamy, balanced blend that’s warm and seductive. The vanilla adds sweetness, the almond a touch of elegance, and the coconut something exotic without being tropical. Perfect for fall and winter, it lasts about 10 hours and leaves an intense yet controlled trail. As its name suggests, it’s a hypnotic poison for conquering and making a mark.

My signature for a long time, combined with the lotion, it creates a reaction on the skin that lingers for hours. People never ask what I’m wearing, but they come closer and feel how the scent captures them. It’s not for shy people or discreet situations. I’m not going to discover how it evolves; every skin is a world. I don’t care if it’s been on the market for years, doesn’t seduction take even longer? Only once someone told me, half-angrily, ‘it looks like you’re carrying poison on your skin.’ I love it.

I stopped by a store and applied a little to my wrist. From the very first moment, I loved it: it’s elegant, youthful, and has a captivating touch of coconut. The caraway was very noticeable at first and gave it a special touch. It’s a sexy perfume, perfect for the night. The best part was that even after showering and more than 12 hours later, I could still smell it! In the end, it left a soft, elegant scent with vanilla and almonds that fascinated me. I’m going to buy it!

I had the Eau de Parfum and thought, if it’s so wonderful and the EDT has good reviews, I should get it. The fragrance is beautiful, sweet, and warm, but the longevity is a headache: barely an hour with a soft trail. The EDP lasts 8 hours intact, it’s darker and more mature; this one feels youthful and innocent. I like having both, though my favorite is the EDP. I don’t think I’ll buy it again, especially since the Zara dupe lasts longer and smells the same.

Kiko Milano has nailed a great dupe, the makeup store everyone in Spain knows. It has the same olfactory notes. Holiday Première L’Étoile White Kiko Milano was last year’s version, and this year they’ve brought it back with a new name but the same notes. It’s the low-cost version if you like the original. You can smell the almond, coconut, plum notes… It’s very similar to the real deal.

I had high expectations because the positive reviews outnumber the negative ones. However, when I smelled it in the store, it completely disappointed me: it smells like putty or pure Play-Doh, nothing like what others described. Maybe it’s one of those that smells better after letting it settle for a couple of months. Maybe I’ll be brave enough to try it again later.

I didn’t test it directly on my skin, so maybe it’s not the same as on the atomizer box. But god… I felt so disappointed; I was looking for something sweet and all I found was a liquid smelling like smoke, something sour and even earthy. Note, maybe it’s due to sun exposure since it was a tester, or other factors. Maybe I’ll give it another chance.

Super intense and marked scent, strong and serious, not the typical sparkly ‘sweet girl’ vibe. It’s more serious and mature; I don’t recommend buying blindly because, as some say, the almond note is tricky and not for every nose. I recommend trying a decant first before deciding to buy the full bottle.

On my skin, it feels 90% coconut: one powdery, similar to ‘makeup smell’. The other 10% is vanilla with almonds. It’s very strong, good longevity. Rich but it doesn’t drive me crazy. An excellent dupe is Shakira Blush Kiss, which is 95% similar (also in longevity).

It’s an exquisite perfume, plain and simple. It’s an intense aroma that may not appeal to everyone. If you’re 100% into sweet, personality-packed perfumes, buy it blind; it won’t fail. Otherwise, I recommend smelling it first before risking it.

I don’t know why the bitter chocolate note isn’t listed: it’s delicious, like bringing a cajeta palette with you. It’s something very rich, like scandalous candies, because it lasts a long time without being cloying. I loved it.

To sum up, from my nose it’s a floral with a very subtle vanilla and a barely perceptible touch of coconut. It’s like a coconut peeking through, but the flowers always dominate: neroli and jasmine.
