Descripción

Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum is an aromatic woody fragrance for men. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson. The top notes unfold with black pepper, lavender, and bergamot; the heart reveals iris root, cloves, and cinnamon; while the base notes settle on black vanilla, balsam of Peru, tonka bean, benzoin, and patchouli.

  • This is a party, it’s pure CLASS. You can tell the quality of the ingredients immediately. I recommend wearing it on cold nights, for a date, or to a bar while dressed up. It’s spectacular.

  • Whatever they say, this one crushes all its siblings. Never better named GENTLEMAN. A fragrance to pair with semi-formal attire and above for special occasions.

  • Orlandoperfumesman

Just tried it. My first impression upon spraying reminded me of Encre Noir Extreme by the same perfumer. That same bitter, fresh green note, which I believe comes from patchouli. You can tell more about the notes here, and they’ll correct me if I’m wrong. It’s a creamy, sweet, chocolatey delight. Feels like high quality; I’d wear it day or night with a proper outfit.

My pick among elegant iris scents. I like it much more than DHI, though I acknowledge DHI has better aroma quality. It feels like velvet. I also chose it over Reserve Privé because when it dries down, it gets too sweet and loses its distinctiveness. Excellent longevity. Quite masculine, much more so than DHI. I don’t think it’s just for nights, as some say. It’s really for cold weather and semi-formal occasions and up. But it works perfectly at work and during the day.

  • Yung Life Bby

My favorite fragrance. Smells like talc and vanilla. An iris similar to DHI, like makeup, but in my opinion, nothing feminine. Everything else has already been said: great projection, performance, and potency. The only con is that it’s not very versatile. I recommend wearing it with an outfit that matches. 100% recommended.

This fragrance has an incredible evolution; it’s one of those that smells better the more time passes. The only downside is that the heavy iris note can make it feel a bit cloying for some, smelling like pure makeup. I’d say it’s for people over 30. It’s not for partying, work, or casual wear—it’s not versatile. It’s meant for dressing up well, at important events, or on a date with someone who already knows you, otherwise you’ll smell weird.

Lots of cedar, vanilla, and plenty of iris. It ends up smelling like dry wood, like the tip of a pencil, and a sweet, powdery chocolate. It’s very good, refined, and masculine. Lasts quite a while, though the projection is moderate. It’s exactly what a true Gentleman would look for. I’ve read comparisons to DHI; they’re similar, but that one has a more lipstick-like iris, while this one is earthier. The difference is refined masculinity versus an alpha vibe. I’m sticking with the alpha. Recommended.

In my opinion, it crosses the line with its lack of versatility. If you have a semi-formal or higher dress code, you can wear it any day or night when it’s cold.

Simply a wonderful perfume, quality shines through everywhere. Complex, elegant, and opulent scent. If I judged a perfume solely by how it smells, I’d value this five times more than its price. Talc and balsamic profile, with a heavy load of iris and a warm spiced base. The iris is the star throughout its entire evolution, perfect for special occasions. It deserves to be worn with good clothes and personality, as it denotes class, seriousness, and mystery. The longevity is good; it doesn’t project much but lingers on the skin for over 7 hours. The bottle is gorgeous and aesthetic. This is real perfumery, highly recommended.

Huge fragrance hit, I love Givenchy, they’re always ahead of the curve. It’s a delicious and super masculine perfume.

  • Test before you buy. I respect the general opinion and understand it, but to prove I can resist group pressure, I have to say I can’t stand it. Too overpowering. It’s a matter of pH and taste; let everyone enjoy their own perfume. For me, Reserve Privée or Boisée are more pleasant.

  • Miracle of iris, vanilla, patchouli, and cinnamon, sweet and ultra-elegant. In men, it’s very masculine, and in women, very feminine; that’s its magic. On my skin, the dry-down is wonderful, very classy. Lasts 8 hours without a problem, though it’s not a projection bomb, as luxury should be. The price is reasonable for the quality. It’s the cousin of Dior Homme Intense, Valentino Uomo Intense, and Prada L’Homme Intense, all sharing iris and undeniable quality. You reach this perfume when the time is right. Try it, let it dry, and if it’s your moment, you’ll know.

  • I gifted it to my dad for his birthday, he loves it. Iris and vanilla, very seductive and masculine. Recommended for cold weather, projects a ton.

  • Didn’t like it, neither did my husband. Smells outdated, not vintage, but gives off an ‘old man’ vibe. Sorry, that’s just my olfactory memory. Vanilla, pepper, dry, and heavy.

  • Excellent fragrance, masculine and elegant, lovely scent. I wore it in the heat and it performed great. If I dare to turn up the heat to make it last, it reminds me of Rocha’s Moustache.

  • FilRosendo23

Smells exactly like Hugo Boss Dark Blue. The only difference is that the Hugo version comes out fresher, but they’re practically the same.

  • Pff, this is crazy. Smells absolutely delicious. It’s like a softer, more explosive, and versatile Reserve Privée. I’ve already tried the original and I’m thinking of switching because I like this one more. You can definitely smell the iris, even though it’s not listed, which is weird. 8/10.

MASTERPIECE. Something I love about works of art is when the name proposed by the artist/brand evokes exactly what is represented; here it is a clear and magnificent example, GENTLEMAN.🎩🕴🏻 SCENT. From the start, it comes out with a sublime combo of orris-vanilla playing to see who is the protagonist, accompanied by balsam of tolu, a very characteristic scent that represents that peculiar elegant touch which gains prominence to last until the dry-down. In its final phase, spices (soft) make their presence felt with that elegant sweetness evoked by cinnamon and tonka bean, without making the perfume scandalous/loud, rather sophisticated without being dirty, since in the base there is lavender that prevents it, it’s a perfect balance, a composition perfectly fitted for the niche world in a commercial bottle, the quality of the ingredients is felt, worthy of GENTLEMAN. ⚜️⚫️ MOOD. A perfume enjoyed from start to finish, its longevity is excellent, easily surpassing 7 hours, ideal for what an event like a wedding or graduation might take. The projection upon leaving is potent but not crude, which gradually diminishes and settles into a heavy/personal bubble ideal for not drawing attention a few meters away, because here you are not a kid, you are a GENTLEMAN.🤵🏻♂️♚

Adjectives are superfluous for this perfume delight. Exquisite in every sense. Recently I acquired a Dior Homme 2011 batch 2018, and while Dior may be the pioneer in iris themes for gentlemen, this Gentleman is much, much more attractive, potent, has more trail, projects better, an absolute 10 for this perfume. Imagine a race where the two start together; Dior comes out with an exquisite iris charge wouuu undeniable until the sky, but that lasts about half an hour. Meanwhile, Gentleman EDP passes by, looks at it, says goodbye, and continues projecting hard for at least 3 enjoyable hours, and for much less money… point for Givenchy.

  • Lobo_Estepario

This perfume is spectacular; for me, it’s better than Reserve Privée. While RP is also very rich, it doesn’t quite convince me entirely, as on my skin I notice the whisky notes too much and find it too chocolaty, plus it performs much worse than the EDP. This EDP is a beast in longevity; on me, it lasts well beyond 10 hours. A rich perfume to wear in autumn and winter.

  • StarlinCollado

Among all Givenchy perfumes, this one and Reserve Privée are the most similar. I own RP, and I feel that owning this would be redundant. I like it, but RP beats it by many points in depth and elegance.

  • RicardoPowa123

I couldn’t get past this perfume… I felt too much clove and it reminded me of ‘smelling like a dentist,’ since it smells very much like that… 🤣

  • ELEGANCE. If I were asked what stands out most in this fragrance, it’s undoubtedly its refined character and the elegance of a neat, confident man. Olfactorily, the blend of pepper, bergamot, and lavender at the start gives that energetic punch that later, with iris and vanilla, turns into a completely gentlemanly aroma. Personally, I wear it almost every day in winter and autumn because it’s a delightfully charming and wearable signature scent. More potent than Reserve Privée but not as dense as DHI, a perfect balance.

  • Santo Lorenzo

Maximum elegance. If you don’t like iris, forget it. I stick with Reserve Privée for its whisky and chestnut notes, but this smells spectacular too.

  • stefanosmo

The ultimate gentleman by far. I understand that the RP version of the line was the precursor to what happened with DHP 2025: sell, sell, sell, because iris is expensive and we’re broke. Make it more wearable and add a chocolate base or something mainstream. This EDP is categorized as for special occasions, and if that’s the case, the bottle will last you years and you’ll almost never use it. That stuff reviewers say about ‘for a wedding, dinner, blah blah blah’ reduces all the opportunities you have to use this PERFUME. Just cold weather and being well-dressed is enough. Use it because this is exquisite, just don’t abuse the blasts because it can overwhelm you as it’s a dense aroma. The dry-down (the best part) offers, from my experience, a scent I associate with the concept ‘expensive.’ Pepper, iris, vanilla bean, and lavender. Nothing more.

  • What more can be said about this perfume that hasn’t already been said? An elegant, masculine, and refined fragrance. I think some people exaggerate by saying it’s just iris; all the ingredients are perfectly balanced. That lavender, orris with spices, and the balsam is poetry. I’ll just add that reviewers insist it’s for special occasions; I disagree slightly. I think a semi-formal outfit is enough. Keep in mind the number of sprays; it can be overwhelming if you overapply in enclosed spaces. Scent: 10/10, Projection: 8/10, Longevity: 10/10 (on skin, more than 10 hours).

I have a bottle from the 2020 batch, and it’s the richest thing I’ve ever tried; I bought a 2024 batch bottle and it leaves much to be desired (compared to the other). It’s still a rich fragrance, but it pains me that they reformulated it for no apparent reason. If I cross paths with a 2020 batch bottle, I’ll buy it without hesitation. The current one is still very good, but anyone who knew the previous formula probably thinks the same. If you can’t get the 2020 batch, buy it anyway because it’s worth it; it’s still an exquisite fragrance. Regarding usage, it goes perfectly with a nice sweater and jeans. I don’t think it’s just for special occasions, but it’s not for wearing with nothing on either. It’s elegant, but you don’t need to be in a suit to wear it. Well-dressed, casual, and it’s more than enjoyable.

  • Leonardo Amico

This is a failing perfume. It has that seductive, dark, sensual aroma that gentlemen have. Liniers Rouge was quite cheap for how good it is, and not only that, but it’s not as suffocating as Gentleman Privé, which is way too much for someone else. This one isn’t. Insanity what it provokes: sensual but not too serious, elegant but not goth. Solid 8.75.

  • Gentleman Eau de Parfum is elegance that bites. Dark without being lugubrious, sensual without being vulgar, masculine without falling into clichés. A perfume that doesn’t seduce: it possesses. And when you take it off, something of yours remains… trapped in the air.

  • JoseMartin

A fragrance that lives up to its name. It has presence, makes itself felt without being invasive to others. The scent is more than just iris; I clearly perceive cinnamon and clove as supporting actors, plus a slightly sweet touch from vanilla and tonka bean. For me, the notes give it a perfect balance. It shines better on cold days, with good longevity (8 hours) and moderate sillage.

  • Abdel - Perfumeros.com

Gentleman Eau de Parfum is an elegant proposition within designer perfumery. It opens with powdery iris, lavender, and an alcoholic accord that adds a seductive air, highlighted by a slight spicy bite. From the base, a warm, creamy vanilla and tonka blend emerges, balancing the composition very well. Over time, the iris fades, giving way to a resinous, slightly sweet, and comforting mix. The initial alcoholic accord dissipates, revealing a soft, wearable base. It has a distinctive vibe that recalls Serge Lutens’ Vétiver Oriental without copying it. I’ve finished a 15mL bottle and will definitely repurchase in a larger size. Rating: 4/5 – Excellent.

  • Wear this with a lot of personality. Don’t abuse the sprays; drown everyone, haha. In fact, it steals the spotlight from other perfumes around you. Great longevity and sillage. Very dark. If you want something more subtle, go for Reserve Privé, which also has good longevity.

  • albertodeline

Whenever I smell a great perfume, Olivier Cresp is behind it. My two favorites are Armand Basi and Esencia de Loewe… this is another masterpiece. I detect some Whiskito. I love the balsam of Peru; I’d make a perfume with just that note, but it gives me an allergy… here, I love it. With cinnamon, benzoin, and vanilla, it’s cinematic.

  • They reformulated it. I tried it again and it lacks projection and longevity. Years ago, it was an absolute beast of orris and cardamom; now it smells like talc and vanilla, a fucking terrible formula or batch. They destroyed it. The current Reserve Privé version is better.

  • As others say, they definitely reformulated it. Before, it lasted longer and smelled deeper. It’s still a good perfume, but be warned: the longevity isn’t the same anymore.
