This is an exquisite perfume, creamy, a bit chocolatey but also fresh thanks to its notes; they create a very balanced fragrance of good quality and quite versatile, just regulate with sprays. It happens to me with several in the line: it has beast mode longevity, lasting on clothes until the next day, but always with a close projection that gives little bursts every now and then. I think it’s the cheapest in the line; I recommend it totally; I doubt anyone will dislike it.
Honestly, I consider it the best in the line without a doubt; everyone likes it, very pleasant and good longevity, medium projection (more than the Réserve Privée, which I also own).
To be direct, it smells like a makeup iris at first—sweet, bright—and as it settles, it smells like freshly sharpened cedar pencil wood. Good perfume, though not my favorite.
This fragrance has me fascinated. I don’t find much resemblance to the Réserve Privée; in fact, without sharing notes with BOSS Bottled Parfum (call me crazy), I find a certain similarity to this one. I’m testing it today after a blind buy; let’s see how the performance holds up. But for the scent, a 10/10. 🍂 RE-EDIT 10/2024: After letting it breathe for a few months, I confirm my first impressions. Performance improved, and it’s one of those fragrances that most people like and earns compliments. Perfect for intermediate climates and as a signature scent. Overall Score 9/10.
I’ve tried all the Givenchy Gentleman scents; Givenchy (and especially this line) is a house I love for the subtlety with which they combine their ingredients, Boisée being my favorite. Today, wanting to switch things up and since this was the only one I was missing (along with the new Extreme by Society), I went for this EDT Intense. My surprise was that it smells similar to Boisée but lasts much longer and projects more. I loved it; I don’t know if it’s the best in the line, but it’s there. 100% recommended blind buy, it’s great and a good price.
We’re always looking for the holy grail of perfumery, but the secret lies in simple things, well-executed and of good quality. And that is this Gentleman Intense. A tasty, intense, green, pleasant, energizing, optimistic fragrance with amazing longevity. A modern, intense green opening that already hints at the fragrance’s path. A long, vigorous dry down that maintains the house’s seal of cleanliness and elegance but moves toward a more informal terrain. My bottle has gained strength and body over time. Without a doubt, compared to the rip-off nature of most designer launches, this is a safe bet worth paying for.
This and the Dolce Gabbana The One are the best scents in my collection. 4 sprays and it fades quickly, eh? Don’t let me down, please.
Delight and elegance (it lives up to the name). Excellent longevity on skin and even better on clothes, lasting all day; it has better staying power than any of the Gentleman line or many EDPs. A blind buy for anyone who enjoys woody aromas. It shouldn’t be missing from your collection.
The first time I smelled it, the floral iris opening really caught my attention. But the dry down is what I love: a creamy woody scent that begs to be sniffed again. It lasts way too long; you can even smell it invading your laundry basket when you go to do the wash. When I smell it, I imagine someone who likes wearing polo shirts in fresh, breezy environments. For me, it works for any occasion, but it stands out more at night. I’ve been told it smells very clean (like freshly laundered) and has cardamom, basil, and a slight milky scent in the dry down.
A true delight! This Gentleman line by Givenchy is excellent; all of them smell elegant and delicious. If you like iris, you’ll love it. The EDT Intense is captivating, perfect for everyday wear, from business meetings to weddings. The iris is well-balanced with basil and coumarin, sweet without being cloying. Projection is good for about two hours, then fades but still lingers with movement, not a beast mode. Lasts around eight hours, but causes olfactory fatigue after the fifth hour; it seems to disappear but stays in an intimate bubble. Scent 10/10, Longevity 8/10, Projection 7/10, Versatility 10/10, Price 7/10. If you’re looking for something daily, elegant, fresh, with moderate performance, yes, I recommend it.
Brutal, nothing else to say.
Rich, versatile, with a fresh yet warm touch, creamy, floral, and with a hint of chocolate. It doesn’t last long and I found it to be unisex.
Even if the site doesn’t say it, this perfume has a TON of sweet, creamy notes; I’m guessing synthetic vanillas and tonka bean. (More than coumarin, that dry grass scent.) Very rich, but I wouldn’t buy it; maybe I’d use a decant for very rare occasions, but otherwise, it doesn’t seem extraordinary. I’d prefer the regular EDT, which has a fantastic base note, one of the best leathers on the market, much better than Tom Ford, but it has HYPER-SYNTHETIC top notes. A real duality with these perfumes.
Perfect as a signature perfume. It adapts to any situation and temperature. It’s sweet yet balanced and masculine. I barely notice the iris.
I tried it on a deal at Druni, and while it smells nice, it just doesn’t click for me. It’s miles behind the previous EDT, but that iris and vanilla base strip away the masculinity, making it feel very feminine. I get the ‘Society’ concept: Givenchy wanted to twist up the Intense by adding vanilla and a feminine/masculine mix. It’s not a bad fragrance, but it lacks versatility to be a signature scent; it’s only good for casual afternoons. Everyone has their taste, but I’m sure others will love it for daily wear.
This was one of my first purchases when I started diving deeper into the world of perfumery, and up until now, I haven’t found anything more exquisite; it’s my signature scent. I’ve even worn it on hot days, over 34 degrees, and while it’s versatile, I wouldn’t recommend it on very hot days because it can get a bit cloying for others, especially in enclosed spaces. Personally, it lasts about 10 hours, which is incredible; even at 12-14 hours, I can still detect it with some movement. I’ve asked outsiders after 8 hours, and they confirmed they could still smell it. Keep in mind that longevity varies from person to person. I’d recommend it to anyone, especially if you like scents that are slightly sweet but not cloying, but nothing beats testing a decant before buying.
I bought it on sale since I didn’t yet own an iris fragrance and read good reviews. In short, it’s a very interesting scent that doesn’t remind me of anything I’ve worn before; the iris is distinctly different from the one in Dior Homme Intense, which I tried in a store once. It lasts quite a while but doesn’t project too much, which I don’t mind. It shines in temperate or autumnal weather; I wear it both day and night. I don’t see it for parties or very casual outings, more for the office or semi-formal events. 9/10
Quick summary: 90% identical to Prada L’Homme L’Eau. It’s a slightly rougher version due to the tonka bean note, or worse, coumarin (which is banned in excess). If you like Prada, you’ll like this. Honestly, if you enjoy this type of iris (lipstick, makeup vibe), you should consider Dior Homme Intense—it’s more sophisticated, elegant, better constructed, and has higher-quality notes than these two, at least here in Lima.
I picked this up at a great price from a colleague who never really got into it, and honestly, I have no complaints. It’s a really good fragrance, versatile as long as it’s not too hot. I’ve worn it to the office and received plenty of compliments. It’s not something I use daily, but when the temperature drops, it feels like a top-tier option. I love that sweet vanilla base, and I think it will bring me many compliments in the winter. For going out at night, it’s best for a date or something low-key like a pub; for parties or dancing, there are better options. Still, it’s a very rich perfume that invites people to get closer and smell it more. I recommend it.
I tried this on a decant and it really won me over. What hooks me most is the scent itself and how versatile it is, though in the middle of summer it fades a bit quickly. The iris here smells masculine and elegant; at first it reminds me a little of Valentino Uomo, but then it shifts more toward the Dior Homme vibe. I’m keeping a close eye on the longevity to see if it delivers, but I think it’s a great pick for anyone looking for their first signature fragrance—something serious and classy. In short: iris that does everything with style. Rating: 8/10. Smells like: Refined iris, slightly powdery, with sweetness and wood. Vibe: Pure elegance, for the man who knows how to carry himself. Occasions: Office, meetings, or a night out. Age: 25+, ideal for those who want something versatile and distinguished.
Very good scent, another one in the iris orbit. There are creamy irises, others clean… here I perceive it as aromatic. It opens with a quite bright and spiced iris, where a green aromatic note quickly appears and a non-sweet but slightly sweetening base starts to play. It’s probably coumarin or something similar. I like it because, being an iris, it’s very office and semi-formal friendly. A pro is its versatility. I enjoy wearing it from winter to spring; its performance isn’t the best, but it doesn’t penalize for the price either. A good wardrobe staple scent. I need to test the others in the line. Interesting.
I tried it and I suppose it met my expectations; indeed, it’s an elegant aroma, very suitable for events requiring a certain dress code in the afternoon, leaning more towards evening. Good performance and pleasant scent, though not for everyone; the bold opening and that iris can smell feminine to some people, however those woods give it a masculine touch. A good formal perfume for young men, I don’t see it on men over 30; it has more of a ‘kid’ vibe.
In the world of iris fragrances, I had ranked it poorly because it didn’t stand out much. But it turns out it’s positive because it’s by far the most versatile, and I’ve already finished the bottle. It doesn’t offend, but it has presence. I’d say it’s perfect for commercial work because it’s totally pleasant without leaning feminine. Good investment.
Second review: This perfume on clothes is infinite! I have a sweater that’s soaked with the scent and it won’t go away, simply magnificent. Its fixation on fabric is impressive, making it even more enjoyable.
Versatile, rich, and sophisticated aroma.
I love it, it’s my favorite in the Gentleman line. The iris is so subtle it’s not invasive like in others; definitely not the most prominent note, but it adds an elegance that I adore. If you don’t know which iris perfume to start with, I think this is an excellent choice due to its charming scent, price, and longevity on skin. If you’re looking for heavy sillage, this isn’t your best bet; on my skin it lasts, but it stays in a personal bubble. Summary: Longevity on skin 8-9 hours, on clothes until the next day. Sillage is good for 2 hours, then it fades to a bubble. Totally versatile usage, preferably fall and winter, but even on cool spring days.
Maybe you’ll like other scents in the Gentleman line more, but this is definitely the most versatile and the one I use the most.
I find it very versatile, suitable for any occasion. The fresh opening surprised me, then it becomes linear, with iris dominating over a woody base and a slight sweet touch, very pleasant. Ideal for fall and winter, a fail-safe option. Projection lasts about two hours, then it becomes a personal bubble for another four hours. It’s discreet but stays with you 100% recommended.
I’m a fan of the Gentleman line, though not so much the Society versions where the DNA changes drastically (they should launch a new line). The EDT Intense is one of the best in the series and among designer scents. A fantastic, distinct, and innovative fragrance: the typical powdery, earthy iris of Givenchy becomes fresh, crystal-clear, and aromatic here. It opens with a creamy citrus note from cardamom, with a fresh green touch thanks to basil and especially cypress. This balanced blend makes the iris stand out as lighter and more charming. Cedar supports that freshness, adding masculinity and cleanliness, while coumarin gives it a subtly sweet, balsamic twist. In short, it’s extremely versatile, pleasant, and easy to wear without losing the line’s elegance. Ideal for spring, but usable year-round. Great for daytime, though it looks amazing on nights in spring/summer. Semi-formal. Fresh, distinctive, and versatile. My signature scent. Longevity 5/7 hours. Sillage and trail are moderate. Best for 30+. Quality 10/10. Highly recommended. Note: It’s not just a more intense version of the EDT; the scents are very different.
Great all year round, fresh and elegant.
It became my go-to perfume when one day I wore it, hugged my daughter, left it with my cousin to hold, and suddenly she said ‘wow, this girl smells like a MAN’. But she said MAN and her pupils were dilated.
It lives up to its name: GENTLEMAN. It almost demands you dress formally.
A fragrance that lives up to its name, designed to dress elegantly. Despite its formality, it works on a summer night or a fresh autumn day. If you’re looking for the perfect perfume for meetings, formal dates, or want to smell like a serious man with a seductive touch, this is the way. It lasts about 8 hours with good projection for the first 3. A perfume with Iris that reminds me of women’s makeup bag, combined with the masculinity of cardamom.
A fine, elegant, and modern fragrance. For me, very different from popular designer aromas. Although the base is sweet, it has a green and aromatic facet that makes it special. The iris is very subtle compared to others. It happens to me like with Loewe Solo Cedro: very good but little known, this one is a bit more. Very versatile, I wear it in autumn and winter during the day, but it dresses up for night in any season, casual or formal look. Never sports.
I must admit it took me a long time to understand the opening of this gentleman EDT. I tested it 5 times before buying it because, for a beginner used to clean, kind citrus openings from recommended scents, it didn’t convince me. I try to satisfy my olfactory needs without stopping to smell and buy, Arab, designer, and luckily I don’t have access to niche where I live. This Givenchy Gentleman EDT Intense has left me very happy, with its creaminess and velvety softness, probably due to the iris. That warmth and over 7 hours of longevity. It’s a great perfume. But be careful with blind buys because it’s not the typical sugary sweet citrus trend. It’s a gentleman perfume.
Buy blind like almost all of mine. In this case, after several uses alternating with the ones in my collection, I finally discovered how good it is. The opening isn’t very pleasant, but after an hour it starts to develop, revealing that characteristic iris from the line but with a very pleasant creamy touch. Third time’s the charm. Because initially, this perfume didn’t say anything to me. Until today, when it spoke loud and clear.
It’s true that the opening is hard to understand… citrus, talc, spices, and mint… I confirm it lasts notably, even on clothes the next day. On skin, about 7 hours without much projection or trail, but if you lower your nose, you can feel the scent right there with you.
My absolute signature and the one that introduced me to this world, even being objective: watch out, the iris (my queen note) might not please everyone, especially men, as some smell it like women’s makeup. Try it first. I wear it in all seasons and at any time of day or night, from going to work to special events; I always get compliments. It’s perfect for everyday or formal wear. On my skin, it starts fresh, quickly giving way to elegant, long-lasting iris with hints of wood and talc. It lasts about 6-7 hours, projects 1.5 meters for the first two hours, then becomes a personal bubble. It’s not a beast, but it doesn’t need to be; it’s pure elegance. Story: the first time I wore it to uni, people asked ‘Who smells so good?’. I wasn’t looking for compliments, but they came naturally, and since then, I’ve been its slave.
Stop buying perfumes thanks to this one; I’m very decided to make it my signature. Apart from how it smells, it makes me feel incredible; every time I put it on, I smell like a real son of a bitch, not just any thug, but a super elegant one with a dark aura; a class act with a low cut…
It’s an outstanding and very well-executed perfume. It follows the gentleman line, with a citrus and green opening. After 10-15 minutes, it evolves into the protagonist: the iris. I find it creamy, earthy, with a subtle sweetness (coumarin) and soft; it reminds me of Gris Charnel but isn’t the same. Ideal for the office and casual, semi-formal, or formal wear. It’s versatile (except in extreme heat), balanced, and great in the cold. Weak point: the iris is complex, so test it first. Projection drops quickly after 15-20 minutes to a moderate trail, but it lasts 7-8 hours until it becomes skin scent. In three words: sophisticated, versatile, and masculine. 8/10.
