How delicious it smells! I tried it a few days ago and was hugely surprised. It’s grapefruit with a juicy rose, a touch of wood, but mostly a citrus that isn’t sharp. Ideal for hot days, very balanced and fresh. It lasted about 4 hours on my skin, and its evolution was delicious and delicate. It’s that kind of perfume you can overuse because it doesn’t bother anyone and everyone likes it. Another gem from Jo Malone at an unbeatable price. Spring and summer freshness. Would I buy it? Yes, for its freshness ❤️❤️❤️.
The marketing department must have smoked four joints and decided to joke around… what pomegranate or incense? I was biased by the name, looking for some incense or pomegranate, but nada. I just smelled a rose, and not a particularly ugly one: acidic and dynamic. I spent hours sniffing it, convinced I had a broken nose, until I checked the notes… and yes: rose and grapefruit. I’ll call it Pamplemousse Rose to avoid confusion. It’s a decent EDT with a very pleasant, well-blended rose. Even someone who can’t stand roses admits it. It’s not Hermès Un Jardin sur le toit (that rose smells like insects, sunflower oil, and abandoned rattan chairs, à la Moschino Toy Boy). This cute Zara one carries a pleasant, acidic, refreshing rose. It’s not tender or old-fashioned like a dated lotion, nor boozy at its peak, nor super realistic and crunchy. It’s a random rose that doesn’t bother, accompanied by a fizz of grapefruit and other citrus notes. It’s sporty, but not in the current gym-goer style; it’s sporty like the old days, when it meant relax, leisure, and a terrace in the mid-afternoon. It’s a perfume that doesn’t reinvent the wheel but is well-made, which doesn’t always happen. If you like roses, you’ll give it a try; I found it excellent within its range with very tangible quality.
Grapefruit Incense: I read a ton of negative reviews saying it was bad or a mishmash of collections, but the reality is another story. It opens with a grapefruit similar to Vetiver Pamplemousse but softer, lighter, and less piercing, giving way to a very natural white rose, like smelling it on the plant, rich and watery. Ideal for 45 degrees in the shade, it puts a smile on my face. I liked it more in its opening and heart because after an hour the grapefruit and the citrus point disappear, leaving a white rose hugging the musk. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last as long as other Emotions collections; Vetiver Pamplemousse lasts until the next day, while this vanishes in a couple of hours at skin level (EDIT: After more than 11 hours at 40 degrees of heat and humidity, it evolved and stayed, transforming into smoky white woods; it’s super long-lasting). I have Waterlily Tea Dress on the other arm, and it’s covering it up; I’d still rank it among my summer favorites for Zara + Jo Malone. It’s a shame it doesn’t last or project much, but I’d recommend trying it at least. I’d buy it again, but I hear it’s a special edition. Supposedly for women, but it works for unisex and doesn’t resemble Moschino Funny at all as some reviews say; Moschino is green tea with a rough, heavy wood base, while this is a citrus-floral. It also doesn’t resemble Lanvin’s So Chic or Girl in Capri, both of which are almost artificial air fresheners. It’s well worth it for the quality and naturalness of the scent; both the rose and the grapefruit are very realistic. It gives Vetiver Pamplemousse a more fun, relaxed, and urban twist. My only complaint is the projection; if it were a bit more moderate, it would be a success. It seems better integrated and more complex than the Emotions collection, which tend to be linear—what you get is what you get; this one doesn’t, it mutates, and you can notice its evolution.
Everyone said it was a failure, but the truth is completely different: it opens with a softer, smoother grapefruit than Vetiver Pamplemousse—no harshness at all—and moves into a natural white rose, like the flower itself, rich and light. Perfect for 45-degree heat; it makes me happy. Its opening and heart are my favorites, though the citrus fades quickly, leaving the rose hugging the musk. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last as long as other Emotions collections (Vetiver lasts until the next day, while this disappears from my skin in a couple of hours). EDIT: After more than 11 hours in heat and humidity, it evolved and stayed, transforming into smoky white woods; it’s super long-lasting. I’m wearing it on one arm to cover up Waterlily Tea Dress, but I’d still rank it among my summer favorites for Zara + Jo Malone. It’s a shame it doesn’t project or last much, but I recommend trying it. If I buy it again, it’s because I know it’s a special edition. Supposedly for women, but it’s unisex and has nothing to do with Moschino Funny (that’s green tea with rough, heavy woods); this is a citrus-floral. It also doesn’t resemble Lanvin’s So Chic or Girl in Capri, which smell like artificial air fresheners. It’s worth it for the naturalness: the rose and grapefruit are realistic. It gives Vetiver a fun, urban twist. My only complaint is the projection; if it were a bit stronger, it would be a hit. It feels more integrated and complex than the Emotions collection, which tend to be linear; this one evolves, and you can tell.
