Just acquired and tested. Here’s my take: it’s one of the few perfumes I hate at first but absolutely love in the heart and drydown. Incredible. The opening is a synthetic coconut that reminds me of my wife’s shampoos; there are other perfumes with coconut (like Guess Indigo) that are sweeter and more natural. This smells like the coconut in a piña colada (just the coconut). I live in the Dominican Republic and I know real coconut. Thank God that scent lasts 5 to 7 minutes before the orange and amber kick in, coming together in a warm, creamy citrus with a tiny touch of coconut. Cool Water Intense is NOT the same as the original; it changes radically. It’s not just for summer; it’s versatile, ranging from casual to semi-formal, even formal thanks to that creamy, amber scent. It’s not for extreme heat or the beach, but it is tropical and usable in summer. Semi-tropical. I ended up liking it, and I know I’ll have the same experience as with the original: with time, I understood it and started to appreciate it.

Just bought this on Amazon (around €36 for 125ml) and here’s the verdict: it doesn’t disgust me, but I expected more. It’s an ultra-amber scent; once it dries down, that’s practically all you smell. It’s a warm fragrance that could be versatile thanks to that hint of green mandarin if you focus on it… though I don’t see it working on hot, sunny days. Summer cool nights, maybe. I bought it blind hoping for a coconut vibe (which is hard to find in men’s scents) and I’m pretty disappointed. I’ll use it up, but I won’t be buying it again. EDIT 6 MONTHS LATER: I really gave it a chance… impossible. The moment I put it on, after a while, I get a headache and nausea. Thirty-six euros thrown away. It looks acceptable at first, but then the dry-down is horribly potent. Maybe the only good thing is that it lasts and projects like a tank… if you love amber, you’ll adore it. For me, I’m tossing the bottle, what a shame. Scent 3/10, Projection 9/10, Longevity 10/10.

You can’t get used to big brands using their flagship ship names to sell something completely different. You have to use your imagination to relate this scent to the original Cool Water; they have nothing to do with each other. Intense isn’t very intense, nor aquatic or herbal like the original. Instead, its creamy freshness reminds me of Chanel’s latest men’s launches. Of course, it doesn’t reach the quality of a Bleu or an Allure Homme Sport, but for the price, you can’t ask for too much. The citrus notes at the start don’t last long, and soon a pleasant sweetness of coconut milk settles in. It’s discreet, versatile, and suitable for work due to its contained sweetness, with good longevity and moderate projection. I used it this summer for relaxed night outs and it performed well. Maybe it’s not Annick Menardo’s most creative work, but it works and adapts to everything; it’s your workhorse when you don’t know what to wear. A good blind buy.

  4. I bought a bottle blind. I’m not a fan of regular Cool Water; it’s passed without glory in my visits to perfumeries. I like tropical, creamy, fruity, sweet perfumes with a coconut base like tanning lotion and citrus. I wanted to give it a shot guided by the notes. This Intense is a good summer option: opens with sharp citrus, green mandarin, nothing sweet at the start. As time passes, it becomes amber, loses the citrus, and is more pleasant to wear, quite good but… it turns into an irredeemably generic fragrance. It reminds me of Boss Bottled Unlimited without the pineapple note. I had high hopes for the coconut to emerge, but I don’t detect it at all. Despite that, I’ve liked it and it’s staying with me. This autumn I plan to use it. In short, pleasant, more than acceptable in quality but guilty of being generic. If you’re looking for the essence of the original Cool Water, you won’t find it here.

Cool Water Intense is fruity, semi-sweet, and very aromatic. The opening reminded me of tanning lotion, fruity and coconutty; it wasn’t bad, in fact, it was pleasant, but the best part was the drydown: vanilla, tonka bean, a bit of amber, and probably musk. This phase is a bit generic but I like it; it’s never too sweet and gives a sense of cleanliness and masculinity. I read they compared it to Invictus, but for me, they aren’t similar; they probably share a structure but go their separate ways. The opening reminded me of First Instinct Extreme, but then it takes its own path. Lasts more than 10 hours with regular projection. Approved for casual situations, and I think it will appeal to a younger crowd compared to the classic.

Absolutely different from the original CW. This ‘Intense’ flanker smells a lot like self-tanning lotion and could be a good alternative if you don’t want to smell like a typical citrus-aromatic in the summer. At the same time, there are good reasons why most people use those citrus notes in summer because they deliver great results. I doubt I’ll get any compliments with CW Intense, as I don’t find it as attractive as Sauvage or Eros (both EDPs I own), and to conclude, CW Intense seems merely pleasant to me, not enchanting. The price is excellent and the longevity + sillage is correct for an EDP concentration. I recommend no more than 3 sprays, ideally 2.

  7. To be honest, it doesn’t reach €30 for 125ml, lasts well, and projects nicely, but I just don’t vibe with it. Sometimes I feel it’s forced, chemical, and with a blend that throws me off. I envy some people’s ability to pick out notes in abstract fragrances; here we have an example. You can guess at a coconut, a tangerine, and some sweetness, but nothing evocative. Then comes the DNA of the original Cool Water, an ambroxanized marine note that grates on me. With its potency, you smell it enough. I recommend trying it: if the scent works for you, the price-to-performance ratio is fantastic.

I tested it blind, paying 20€ for 125ml, and I’m not regretting it, even though it wasn’t what I expected. 1) It smells like cream, but not like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau; here, the coconut isn’t very prominent—it’s spicier and slightly powdery, though it improves over time. 2) It reminds me of Versace Eros or Rochas L’homme, and in my case, Cool Water loses the comparison. 3) I expected something sweet and clean, but it feels dark and heavy for extreme heat. The positives are its longevity, projection, and price: if you combine those, it’s worth it, but test it first.

It’s a wonderful beast! Exquisite, rich, and pleasant for everyone. I wore it at 7 am with six sprays and it still projected beyond my arms at 7 pm. I showered, went to watch TV, and at 9 pm my wife asked if I’d sprayed on again. Some say it doesn’t seem like the original, but why should it? It’s like a legendary athlete’s medical son excelling in his own field without copying his father. Smells like mandarin and amber with a silky texture that makes you feel good. Simple but charming, highly praised by all the compliments it receives.

As others say, this has nothing to do with the original Cool Water. To me, it’s a light mandarin with a present amber that adds sweetness; it doesn’t smell like coconut-scented tanning lotion, but rather tanning lotion without coconut. It’s good, lasts about 6 hours, and projects well for the first two. It’s not a beast, but an aura that surrounds you. I paid 26€ for 125ml and I’m very happy. I wouldn’t use it in extreme heat, but on cool days when you don’t know what to wear; you apply this and you’re set. Everyone loves it.

After listening to all of YouTube comparing this to traditional Cool Water and losing sight of the real review, I decided to buy it. It opens very similar to the freshness of Joop! Nightflight: effervescent, blue, and aromatic. A few minutes later, it transforms due to the amber (a common note nowadays), but the touch of coconut (not very pronounced) gives it a pleasant balance. Honestly, it’s not a masterpiece, but it’s pleasant, fresh, and delivers on performance. Scent 8, Longevity 8, Projection 7, Accessible price.

I received a sample in an order, and my boyfriend keeps it for travel. It’s a fragrance that doesn’t bother anyone, simple but effective. I don’t notice the dominant coconut; I’d define it as a creamy aftershave, sweet from the fruits and enveloping from the amber. I agree it has marine notes even if they’re not in the pyramid. Ideal for cool summer nights outdoors, a first date, or a family dinner. I’d get tired of it if my boyfriend wore it every day, because normally I get saturated by strong men’s perfumes.

If you’re looking for a more powerful and longer-lasting version of the legendary original Cool Water, you’re mistaken. It’s not that it isn’t, it just smells totally different. It’s semi-tropical and warm. On my skin, I notice a soft creamy mandarin from the coconut that fades quickly, leaving an intense vanilla-amber trail. The drydown is a bit heavy and very amber-heavy. Ideal for cool summer nights (20°C with a breeze), but its warm amber makes it versatile for other seasons, especially daytime wear.

Blind buy. At first, I liked it for the amber and coconut; it seemed fresh and intense for daily autumn wear, lasting over 8 hours with just 2 sprays. But over time, I’ve come to hate it: it gives me headaches in enclosed spaces (car, work) because it smells very synthetic, not potent. The amber note is artificial; I’ve been told one spray smells like burnt plastic. I don’t see a specific use; at this price, there are better Arab fragrances for cold weather and fresher designer scents for heat.

Simple fragrance but well-made, at a price that never fails, especially as an Eau de Parfum. Smells like sweet orange citrus (I don’t detect coconut) and reminds me a bit of Annick Menardo’s Roma or L’Homme by Rochas, though they aren’t the same. It’s versatile, performs well, and perfect when you don’t want to overthink it. Maybe it won’t be your favorite, but you’ll be glad to have it. Note: It’s no longer in physical stores, so grab it before they discontinue it.

I don’t see it as aquatic as the original. It feels dark, heavy, more green than blue, with a synthetic coconut that I think is masked by the amber. They’re giving it too much hype on social media; I don’t recommend buying it blind when there are better options. Its longevity and sillage don’t stand out; it lasts 3-4 hours close to the skin. For the price, you could ‘bathe’ in it, but would I buy it again? No. Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette Intense beats it by a mile.

  17. Well, Cool Water has evolved. It still keeps that tropical, aquatic, marine, and fruity concept, but now it’s packed with a brutal ambroxan, à la Sauvage, giving it body and sweetness. The coconut nectar (I smell it as fig) blends perfectly to create an addictive aura. Plus, there’s a noticeable marine touch. Luckily, it has nothing to do with its grandfather, that fragrance that always scared me.

With so many YouTube reviews, I was only generating doubts, so I bought a decant to be safe and not waste money (I’ve learned from my past blind buys). I tested the 5ml decant and after 5 days decided to buy the full bottle. For me, it’s excellent, but everyone has different tastes. My only recommendation: don’t stop trying it, because you might miss something worth it.

  19. Just to clarify, they don’t list mint, but we definitely smell it. Regarding the ‘generic’ claim: generic for what? Because 95% of perfumes share notes. If everything is generic, why invent new combinations and boast about being unique? Stop compulsively comparing with best-sellers. There are affordable, original, and excellent gems that deserve more honest reviews.

The new Davidoff Cool Water Intense has nothing to do with the 1988 classic. Goodbye sea breeze and mint; here, ambroxan rules, powerful and almost suffocating, with a synthetic coconut that smells like sunscreen, not the beach. The citrus notes are barely noticeable. Good value for money and versatile for daytime, but I’m not fully convinced yet.

  21. Undoubtedly, it smells similar to Rochas L’homme. This Davidoff Cool Water Intense is a mature citrus, not too fresh, slightly sweet and tropical. It lasts quite a while on both skin and clothes. It’s one of those fragrances that comes back with the heat, and it lasts all day on me. For the price and performance, it’s definitely one of the best.

It projects strongly and lasts long, but that amber-sweet nuance feels a bit overwhelming to me; maybe it suits younger folks for the price, but it clogs my nose. Smells like mandarin and coconut, though everything floats like a JPG Le Beau sweet and tropical. If you’re looking for that, it’s worth it, but it’s just not my thing.

Totally deviated from the original. The first few seconds remind me of Versace Eros. It can become annoying after a few minutes, so I don’t recommend spraying it on your neck. Is it bad? For its price and volume, no. 150ml for €28. Are there better options? Of course. It’ll stay in my collection as a ‘sporty’ fragrance.

Completely dispensable perfume, generic smell, average longevity. I don’t see it improving over any supermarket fragrance; it can’t compare to the original Cool Water. If you already bought it, fine, but if you’re considering spending money on it, you won’t miss out by choosing something else instead.

Nothing like the original CW, which is my favorite (I already have about 7 bottles). To me, it smells like a tangerine mess with an amber, creamy touch—nothing fresh, perfect for cool days. Performance is decent without being overwhelming, and although it lists coconut, I can’t smell it.

  26. Smells like sweet amber body gel. The coconut is muted under the dominant amber. Even in summer, it gives me headaches after just a few sprays. It lasts 7-8 hours, but the first two are suffocating. It upsets my stomach, probably due to that synthetic sweetness. Don’t buy it blindly.

I smelled it in 2020 and loved it, but didn’t buy it due to availability issues. Once I finally got it, it doesn’t smell the same: lighter, perhaps reformulated. The coconut and amber are noticeable, but it’s not what I remember.
