Have you worn Cool Water Intense?

Tell us how it opens, how it settles on your skin, how long it lasts and when you wear it.

  1. El Figura

It projects strongly and lasts long, but that amber-sweet nuance feels a bit overwhelming to me; maybe it suits younger folks for the price, but it clogs my nose. Smells like mandarin and coconut, though everything floats like a JPG Le Beau sweet and tropical. If you’re looking for that, it’s worth it, but it’s just not my thing.

I smelled it in 2020 and loved it, but didn’t buy it due to availability issues. Once I finally got it, it doesn’t smell the same: lighter, perhaps reformulated. The coconut and amber are noticeable, but it’s not what I remember.

  3. Smells like sweet amber body gel. The coconut is muted under the dominant amber. Even in summer, it gives me headaches after just a few sprays. It lasts 7-8 hours, but the first two are suffocating. It upsets my stomach, probably due to that synthetic sweetness. Don’t buy it blindly.

If you buy it, you’re wasting your money. It does last and is potent, but it smells very synthetic, like cheap deodorant from the fridge. It’s useless in heat; even an air freshener smells better. Don’t let reviewers fool you.

Horrible! It’s the only fragrance besides Club de Nuit that makes me nauseous. Unbearable.

  6. titancilo

I already had it and liked it, but now with so many perfumes, it feels outdated. Still, for the price, it’s worth it: it’s versatile, smells good, and lasts quite a while. 7/10.

The new Davidoff Cool Water Intense has nothing to do with the 1988 classic. Goodbye sea breeze and mint; here, ambroxan rules, powerful and almost suffocating, with a synthetic coconut that smells like sunscreen, not the beach. The citrus notes are barely noticeable. Good value for money and versatile for daytime, but I’m not fully convinced yet.

Be careful with the number of sprays; the scent is very heavy and gives me headaches.

Versace Eros, but less sweet. I liked it at first, but the smell was too familiar until I wore it at night and thought, ‘Ah, this is it.’ It’s more wearable and less cloying, perfect for high temperatures.

It’s a wonderful beast! Exquisite, rich, and pleasant for everyone. I wore it at 7 am with six sprays and it still projected beyond my arms at 7 pm. I showered, went to watch TV, and at 9 pm my wife asked if I’d sprayed on again. Some say it doesn’t seem like the original, but why should it? It’s like a legendary athlete’s medical son excelling in his own field without copying his father. Smells like mandarin and amber with a silky texture that makes you feel good. Simple but charming, highly praised by all the compliments it receives.

Nothing like the original CW, which is my favorite (I already have about 7 bottles). To me, it smells like a tangerine mess with an amber, creamy touch—nothing fresh, perfect for cool days. Performance is decent without being overwhelming, and although it lists coconut, I can’t smell it.

  12. Fragancefran

It’s a ROMA by Laura Biagiotti with a salty base. It lasts no more than 3 hours. In my opinion, it’s dispensable. I stick with the original; it’s light years better.

  13. I bought it blindly for the coconut, but it smells like nothing. If it smells sweet, it’s like sunscreen, and it makes me a bit dizzy, probably due to the intensity. Four sprays last forever. Great for cool summer nights, but nothing for intense heat.

Blind buy. At first, I liked it for the amber and coconut; it seemed fresh and intense for daily autumn wear, lasting over 8 hours with just 2 sprays. But over time, I’ve come to hate it: it gives me headaches in enclosed spaces (car, work) because it smells very synthetic, not potent. The amber note is artificial; I’ve been told one spray smells like burnt plastic. I don’t see a specific use; at this price, there are better Arab fragrances for cold weather and fresher designer scents for heat.

  15. Good perfume for everyday wear, amber and half-tropical scent. I don’t detect the coconut. Good performance. As they say, it’s like a tanning lotion; if you find it at a good price, it’s a great option.

I really like the opening; it smells very clean and soapy. If you’re looking for something low-key that just smells ‘clean’, this is the option.

  17. diegoxxxo

Totally deviated from the original. The first few seconds remind me of Versace Eros. It can become annoying after a few minutes, so I don’t recommend spraying it on your neck. Is it bad? For its price and volume, no. 150ml for €28. Are there better options? Of course. It’ll stay in my collection as a ‘sporty’ fragrance.

  18. Davpelser

Completely dispensable perfume, generic smell, average longevity. I don’t see it improving over any supermarket fragrance; it can’t compare to the original Cool Water. If you already bought it, fine, but if you’re considering spending money on it, you won’t miss out by choosing something else instead.

Absolutely different from the original CW. This ‘Intense’ flanker smells a lot like self-tanning lotion and could be a good alternative if you don’t want to smell like a typical citrus-aromatic in the summer. At the same time, there are good reasons why most people use those citrus notes in summer because they deliver great results. I doubt I’ll get any compliments with CW Intense, as I don’t find it as attractive as Sauvage or Eros (both EDPs I own), and to conclude, CW Intense seems merely pleasant to me, not enchanting. The price is excellent and the longevity + sillage is correct for an EDP concentration. I recommend no more than 3 sprays, ideally 2.

Forget its name, because if it were Bleu de Chanel or Sauvage Dior, it would sell like hotcakes. It’s an all-rounder: versatile, rich, and with great longevity. It has the three B’s. Cheers.

  21. Just to clarify, they don’t list mint, but we definitely smell it. Regarding the ‘generic’ claim: generic for what? Because 95% of perfumes share notes. If everything is generic, why invent new combinations and boast about being unique? Stop compulsively comparing with best-sellers. There are affordable, original, and excellent gems that deserve more honest reviews.

  22. Well, Cool Water has evolved. It still keeps that tropical, aquatic, marine, and fruity concept, but now it’s packed with a brutal ambroxan, à la Sauvage, giving it body and sweetness. The coconut nectar (I smell it as fig) blends perfectly to create an addictive aura. Plus, there’s a noticeable marine touch. Luckily, it has nothing to do with its grandfather, that fragrance that always scared me.

I tested it blind, paying 20€ for 125ml, and I’m not regretting it, even though it wasn’t what I expected. 1) It smells like cream, but not like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau; here, the coconut isn’t very prominent—it’s spicier and slightly powdery, though it improves over time. 2) It reminds me of Versace Eros or Rochas L’homme, and in my case, Cool Water loses the comparison. 3) I expected something sweet and clean, but it feels dark and heavy for extreme heat. The positives are its longevity, projection, and price: if you combine those, it’s worth it, but test it first.

I don’t see it as aquatic as the original. It feels dark, heavy, more green than blue, with a synthetic coconut that I think is masked by the amber. They’re giving it too much hype on social media; I don’t recommend buying it blind when there are better options. Its longevity and sillage don’t stand out; it lasts 3-4 hours close to the skin. For the price, you could ‘bathe’ in it, but would I buy it again? No. Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette Intense beats it by a mile.

Great fragrance with incredible longevity on my skin. In my opinion, it’s very different from the classic Cool Water. It smells like body cream, making it the perfect all-rounder for hot weather. The quality-to-price ratio is good.

  26. It’s a flanker that’s 100% different from the original; it could even have a completely different name. The scent is delicious, fresh, and nothing conventional. It’s potent: two sprays last all day, and more will give you a headache.

I received a sample in an order, and my boyfriend keeps it for travel. It’s a fragrance that doesn’t bother anyone, simple but effective. I don’t notice the dominant coconut; I’d define it as a creamy aftershave, sweet from the fruits and enveloping from the amber. I agree it has marine notes even if they’re not in the pyramid. Ideal for cool summer nights outdoors, a first date, or a family dinner. I’d get tired of it if my boyfriend wore it every day, because normally I get saturated by strong men’s perfumes.

  28. To be honest, it doesn’t reach €30 for 125ml, lasts well, and projects nicely, but I just don’t vibe with it. Sometimes I feel it’s forced, chemical, and with a blend that throws me off. I envy some people’s ability to pick out notes in abstract fragrances; here we have an example. You can guess at a coconut, a tangerine, and some sweetness, but nothing evocative. Then comes the DNA of the original Cool Water, an ambroxanized marine note that grates on me. With its potency, you smell it enough. I recommend trying it: if the scent works for you, the price-to-performance ratio is fantastic.

  29. Undoubtedly, it smells similar to Rochas L’homme. This Davidoff Cool Water Intense is a mature citrus, not too fresh, slightly sweet and tropical. It lasts quite a while on both skin and clothes. It’s one of those fragrances that comes back with the heat, and it lasts all day on me. For the price and performance, it’s definitely one of the best.
