Boss Bottled Elixir by Hugo Boss

I own a large perfume shop two blocks away and I stop by to test them after work. I apply a lot and let it sit for a few hours to be sure. This way, I’ve saved a lot of money because 80% of perfumes I like at first don’t convince me once they dry down. With Boss Bottled Elixir, the opposite happened: I tested it once on my wrist, and as it dried, it seemed better. I came back on a Saturday morning, bought a vial to wear on my neck (with the manager’s permission), and it lasted almost 9 hours. With a gust of wind, I felt that intense scent of incense and wood again. I went back to the store; since there were no 100ml bottles left and the price difference wasn’t worth it for the 50ml, I took a free sample. I’ve used it all week, and although it’s expensive in Argentina, I’m convinced to pay. It’s a fragrance that makes you feel like you’re wearing a style statement. It has everything a good men’s perfume should: it’s intense but not suffocating, mature but not outdated, and above all sophisticated, with that dark and mysterious touch that makes it irresistible. Three good sprays last all day. It smells like walking into an elegant room filled with dark wood and leather, mixed with a slightly sweet and warm liquor. The incense lasts the life of the perfume, and as it dries, when cedar and patchouli appear, it sometimes smells like chocolate liquor. It’s perfect for cold weather and night. It’s not for everyone; you have to like it; don’t buy blindly. It doesn’t seek to impress with shouts, but with whispers. It’s for those who want to stand out without trying too hard. In short, Boss Bottled Elixir smells like modern elegance: neither too young nor outdated, with the right balance between classic and contemporary. Definitely my next purchase. I loved it.

I bought it a month ago and I don’t regret it. It’s a scent that not everyone will like due to the very marked incense opening, which then evolves into an amber-woody-resinous dry down. It’s for a personality with character, totally different from the other Boss Bottled scents. It lasts more than 12 hours on skin, projecting for the first 4 or 5 hours. It’s not a beast mode, but the performance is very, very good. On clothes, it lasts a long time; you have to wash the garment or it won’t come out. I use it at night, and since we’re in winter, it works great. I also tested it in the office during the day, but it’s too strong, so I don’t recommend it for that. To me, it seems to have a note of Coca-Cola or lollipop that stands out quite a bit as it dries; I don’t dislike it, but it’s strange. Conclusion: if you’re hesitating, keep in mind that it’s not for receiving compliments; the price is a bit high in my country (Argentina), and as you use it, you’ll like it more, so don’t buy blindly. In short, it’s a great fragrance but not for everyone.

BOSS BOTTLED ELIXIR HUGO BOSS: There are fragrances that play in this league like Dior Sauvage Elixir, Asad by Lattafa, or Midnight Oud by Ard Al Zaafaran; they don’t smell exactly the same, but I find it very similar to Sauvage Elixir. Its evolution is changeable, and that’s where it takes its own path, which I find fabulous. The difference is that it becomes sweeter, more wearable, and geared towards fresh and cold climates, always formal, nocturnal, and somewhat adult. It’s refined, exudes luxury and good taste, with magnificent performance. A dark, refined, elegant, and adult proposal; I’d call it a ‘socialite’ fragrance for events or gatherings where class is needed. It’s a well-made perfume, where the Hugo Boss name is carried with pride. It’s a class and status perfume, for those seeking superior-level scents. Note: If you already have Sauvage Elixir or Asad by Lattafa, I’d skip it. Scent: 9. Performance: Outstanding, projects well (a bit more than 2 hours). Longevity: 8 hours. Recommended.

Smells like that dark incense from the 90s perfumes, when formulas were nuclear bombs and people wore the same scent for years. If you smelled it as a kid and some wealthy older person or woman wore it, that’s the vibe. It’s very unisex because incense with cardamom is the note you need to cover in your collection. If you want something similar but less rough, without that spicy cardamomo touch, something fresher, sweeter, and earthier, go for Absolu; the leather and patchouli give it light, and the myrrh smokes it all up. Edit: After wearing it for a while, it’s quite similar to Sauvage Elixir with that sexy, dark cardamom, and as it dries, the Absolu leaves patchouli that reminds a lot of Sauvage EDT or Parfum. I own all 4 and I know what I’m talking about.

Boss Bottled Elixir is an attempt to give eternity to an already worn-out classic. Dark, dense, spicy to the point of being cloying; pepper and cardamomo in a metallic scream over a sweet amber that threatens to devour it all. Masculine, yes, but in a forced way, like a suit that’s too tight. Its longevity is impressive and its projection is punchy. However, while some will smell power, others will find fatigue: an aromatic wall without nuances that overwhelms more than it seduces. A flanker designed to shout ‘luxury’ but that sometimes borders on vulgar. Ideal if you seek absolute presence; unbearable if you want subtlety. Boss Bottled died young; this Elixir is its made-up ghost.

Very woody aroma. I don’t find it similar to Sauvage Elixir at all; that one is very warm with sweet lavender, and in Boss, the lavender doesn’t even appear. Lots of dark woods. Very stately, adult, and tough. In that sense, Sauvage is a thousand times more versatile. It has nothing to do with the classic EDT, except the name. I wrote this because of its longevity: I applied it Saturday afternoon, and today, Wednesday morning, if I trace it on my skin, I still feel a very faint trail. Never happened to me with another perfume, not even with Kenzo Homme. Impressive.

Hugo Boss Bottled is a top-tier fragrance: robust, dense, strong, and unique. The base is pure wood that conveys security and calm. The trail has a warm touch that accompanies the wearer. But be careful; it’s not for everyone; you need to know how to handle it. The opening is the tricky part: it’s very penetrating, a pure incense that can fill a house if not applied carefully, or you might look like you’re in a funeral procession. For me, it lacks a touch more sensuality or curiosity to make people stick around. That said, it’s a great perfume.

I fully agree with @Zenof’s review a bit below about how it resembles Givenchy Play Intense as it dries down, and in the comparison with This Is Him. They are styles of sweetness, vanilla, and resins that maybe aren’t in fashion, but they are a delight. A bit in the opening, it can approach Sauvage Elixir, but that’s not the intention. Personally, I have several of this style in my collection, although this one doesn’t have the quality twists that many others do, and especially not at such a good price. A 10, without a doubt.

It starts with very strong incense, but after an hour, it sweetens up without the incense disappearing, which stays throughout the wear. After 6 hours, it turns into a cedar bomb that pairs perfectly with the sweetness of a strong vanilla and the incense. Longevity: 12 hours. Projection: 1.60-1.90 meters. Scent: 10/10. They say it’s for mature people, but I see it as suitable for all ages; I wear it for special occasions when I was just 15.

First time I tried this luxury at a duty-free in Atlanta airport, USA, it was love at first sight. It’s fascinating, overwhelming, and awakens the senses right from the first spray. Smells like a millionaire businessman, smart, unafraid of challenges, and fond of luxury. In my collection of over 70 perfumes, it’s my favorite, top 3 with the most compliments. I haven’t even finished the bottle yet and already want two more. Cheers!

Far from what we’re used to seeing from HB in their commercials, you have to test it on skin and clothes because for me, the dry-down is the best part; it lasts days on clothes. It’s elegant at a very high level. The opening feels very incense-heavy, which doesn’t bother me much, but the evolution is a marvel: elegance, elegance, and more elegance. Great job by HB on these alternatives.

It reminded me of Bentley. It lasted 9 hours and persisted. I put it on at 9 PM, and by 6 PM, watching TV, I could still smell it coming off my arm from just 30 cm away. After 3 hours, it changed and now smells clean, mid-amber woods; at first, I didn’t like it because it was very synthetic amber/warm. It lasted over 12 hours.

Ufff, what a bomb! This is truly an elixir that lives up to its name. I bought it blind and only sprayed one trigger on each wrist, and the scent is quite strong but incredible. Not recommended for kids because they will be bothered; be careful with sprays and in enclosed spaces.

What a delight! It smells very similar to Fendi Fan di Fendi Homme Assoluto, which was my signature scent for a while. Cardamom and incense are definitely the stars here. The longevity is phenomenal and the projection is excellent.

It’s very similar to Boss Bottled EDP. Tonnes of wood with a slightly green dry-down. If you don’t like the EDP, you definitely won’t like this one. Recommended for men over 40. Strong, very strong. I didn’t like it.
