  • It’s a sweet gourmand fragrance, ideal if you like heavy scents. I bought it upon arriving in the city, and my hoodie got soaked with the scent from all the Zara test sprays. It lingered intensely on the fabric for hours, even the next day. It’s a juicy, sweet fruity scent with caramelized pear and caramel notes; I don’t detect much of the floral side, though it’s there. It suits versatile use, day or night, and something romantic for dates. It’s a flirty sweetness, not childish or teenage. You need to use very few sprays because it comes out strong and sweet from the start. I think it doesn’t last as long on skin as on clothes, but the performance for the price is top-notch. It doesn’t remind me of anything; I feel it’s original. Watch out, don’t buy it blind because of the potency! Ideal for spring, fall, and winter; in heat, I find it heavy and cloying. If you liked Rose Gourmand, you’ll love this one too.

  • Néctar opens with a ripe, almost caramelized pear, similar to Sultry Pear. Minutes later, the rose emerges, a bit powdery. It could be reminiscent of Idôle Néctar, but it’s far from as much of a favorite as the Lancôme (one of my top scents). In the dry-down, it’s a sweet, youthful, soapy, and musky rose, very soft; I think even rose skeptics might like it. It smells great, especially after wearing it for a while. It doesn’t grab attention at first, but rather later on. I tried it for sleeping and it was lovely: caressing, a clean sweetness I could enjoy a lot. When I bought it, I thought it was fresh and light for cold weather, but now it seems heavy for heat, especially at the start. I think it’s better for shoulder season or summer evenings. For now, I use it sparingly; I don’t dislike it, but I’m not sure if I’ll finish the bottle. I’ll give it a few more months because it does remind me of the original Rose Gourmand, and that one grew on me over time.

I tried it in-store and loved it—sweet and cozy. I sprayed it on my clothes to make it last longer. After a while, the scent started to bother me: extremely sweet, even to the point of giving me a headache. It does have great projection and longevity, though. My jacket smelled terrible for days; if I get close, it smells like I’m miles away. I understand it recalls Idôle Néctar, but I prefer the Lancôme version; it’s not as cloying. You can really tell it’s missing that rich popcorn note. It feels heavier for hot weather rather than fresh.

  • Rose Gourmand Néctar is a completely different experience from its dry winter sibling. I picked it up blind in a clearance sale in Uruguay (can’t find it anymore) and what a surprise: it’s an absolute dupe for Idôle Now. It projects insanely well, and people won’t stop asking what I’m wearing.
