I don’t know why it has such a reputation. I expected more from this fragrance and ended up disappointed. It bores me and didn’t provoke any emotion. I gave it to my 10-year-old daughter.
It literally smells like baby wet wipes.
Since my student days, I’ve gotten used to the smell of benzoin, used in hospitals to secure adhesive tape. I’ve always been fascinated by those bottles with that aromatic yellow oil. In Prada Candy, the benzoin is very noticeable, along with a fine caramel, vanilla, and musk that create a sweet, warm, powdery, and precious scent. It’s like a hug; it’s not sexy or provocative, but when my husband hugs me, he inhales deeply without saying a word, which says a lot 😉. The trail is subtle, and although they say it doesn’t last, I think it’s a matter of skin; on me, it does last. I find it linear but I like it. My city is hot, but when the temperature drops, I take the opportunity to wear it, because in the heat its sweetness can be overwhelming. I love it.
I bought this perfume blind in winter because of the sweet reviews; I imagined something like Viva Juicy or similar… nothing like that! Right out of the box, I smelled pure alcohol, then something like soft makeup powder, and I had no idea where the notes were. I got angry and put it away. Now in summer, I used it again and it’s a different story: yes, it’s sweet, but elegant and very wearable, powdery and refined. It lasts, but I only appreciated its scent in summer; in winter, I feel the cold eats up the notes. It’s not synthetic like Viva Juicy or Jessica Simpson’s Fancy; it’s a completely different scent.
Let me share a short story: I had COVID and lost my sense of smell for five days; my nose was burning. Now I’m slowly recovering, but it was strange and distressing not to smell anything. I bought blind decants and had to ask my loved ones to describe the scents to me. Today, magic: I smelled Prada Candy 💛 and I already want it. They described it as a delicate, powdery caramel that’s cozy; my aunt, who doesn’t like sweets, was over the moon, and my boyfriend, my ‘nose,’ said it smells refined and adult, not childish or tooth-rotting like Pink Sugar. It smells like milk caramel, almost like dulce de leche, and I loved it. I was scared of the name, imagining something nauseating like Pink Sugar, but it’s nothing like that. I’ll keep enjoying the decant and then I’ll get the bottle 💛. Take care of yourselves.
It smells like caramel, but I can’t find the flavor no matter how many times I wear it.
I have mixed feelings. The opening loaded with ethyl maltol feels very synthetic and cheap, but after 10 minutes the synthetic note disappears and it turns into a sweet, resinous, powdery scent thanks to the benzoin and musk. Once settled, it smells like honey and milk tablets from my childhood, with a touch of old makeup. That mix of makeup and candy is very original and adds elegance to gourmands. Although the sillage isn’t heavy, I can still smell it after 12 hours. Except for the opening, it’s pleasant, feminine, and suitable for day and cold weather. I see it more as a daily wear than for special occasions. I doubt I’ll buy it since I’m not much of a gourmand fan, but I’ll finish the sample. Pleasant: 6/10, Interesting: 8/10, Versatile: 6/10, Original: 8/10
On my olfactory journey, we sometimes stumble upon duds and other times find gems. This was one of the gems: the finest caramel, with a powdery, creamy texture that blends naughty innocence with elegant sensuality. It reminds me of a delicate custard cream. It has hints of Emporio Armani, Ange ou Démon, 212 Sexy, and Kenzo Amour. It’s softly powerful yet present, with vanilla, musk, and benzoin that are seductive. The caramel is a gourmet dulce de leche, exquisite without being cloying. The benzoin adds a resinous, smoky touch, like burnt woods and incense. It’s wearable in the cold and works very well in the heat. It’s a sumptuous elegance, very chic and glamorous. Divine
Hi! I first smelled this at a French airport in 2015 and was blown away: a rich, powdery, tender, and super original scent I’d never experienced before. It’s chic, like bus station talcum powder. What a huge letdown though: when I heard it was coming to Chile, I gifted it to my husband for his birthday. The longevity is terrible; not even an EDT lasts long, and the sillage is non-existent. If you like this type of fragrance, a great dupe is Kenzo Elixir 😎. Kisses
I didn’t like it at all. It smells like talcum powder with a caramel scent, but watery talcum powder, as if you put it in water: thin, powdery, and bland. It’s sweet but lacks flavor, leaving you feeling like it’s half-baked. The performance is very soft; I wouldn’t recommend it for the price unless you’re looking for something specific for the office.
This was my signature perfume for years, almost since the year it came out (2012, a lot has changed since then). It was the perfect perfume for me, who adores sweet aromas but without being cloying. A vanilla caramel dusted with powder and ambered. Every time I wore it, I felt at home. Even on some occasions, I wore it in summer to sleep, because I didn’t want to use it during the day so as not to cloy others, but I missed it. I used at least 4 bottles, including the 80 ml one that I still keep. As you can see, everything is in the past. Either my nose has changed, or they reformulated the perfume. The last time I bought it, it didn’t smell the same anymore; it lost the warmth of the caramel and the vanilla. Now it smells like a kind of sweet powder, nothing like the delight of before. Even its longevity and sillage have changed; it was never the most durable or intense, but now it disappears in a breath (and that’s okay too, because its current scent doesn’t please me at all). It doesn’t even last on clothes, and that’s sad because in winter my scarves always smelled like dried Candy. Unfortunately, I ended up using it to perfume my room after making the bed. Curiously, if I spray it into the air, it smells like the authentic Candy. A whole nostalgic aroma for me. But it’s time to say goodbye. Thanks for the good moments 🙂
On my skin, it results in a mix of violet candies and sweet coconut but nothing suffocating; I suppose these aromas fall within the powdery notes. It’s not one of my favorites, but it’s not bad.
This perfume was my favorite for two years; I loved it because its scent is soft yet powerful, sweet but not cloying. On its first wear, you feel the benzoin and vanilla strongly; after a few hours, you slightly feel the caramel and talcum powder. On my skin, the longevity of this perfume was approximately 6 hours and on clothes until they were washed. I’m a huge fan of sweet gourmand perfumes, but I know most people don’t like them. Some people told me they didn’t like the perfume that smelled good but after a few hours smelled like dirty diapers (poop); I turned a deaf ear because actually, I thought it was fabulous. Then, suddenly, a few months ago in winter, I started to perceive the ‘popo’ aroma, softly powdery, on my clothes; I thought it was because some fabrics like synthetic fibers (polyester) tend to smell ‘weird’. After that, I decided to spray it on cotton clothes; at first, I didn’t notice that smell until a few hours later I felt that unpleasant aroma again. Since then, I stopped using it…
Prada Candy is the king of powdery perfumes, that accord of powdery caramel dominates from start to finish. It’s not cloying and its performance is quite good; I’ve even used it in a hot spring and it lasts ten hours. In my opinion, it’s a good perfume; it’s true that it has a scent that reminds of baby products, but it doesn’t bother me rn at all. My recommendation is to test before buying and not let yourself be influenced by others’ opinions. Who will like it: lovers of powdery perfumes.
Bought on a super sale, I love its bottle, so cheerful, very girly. I like its powdery sweetness; it conveys innocence and neatness. It’s a pity that on me it becomes a skin scent in no time.
I think it was one of the first purchases when I started my perfume collection. And I regretted it shortly after. I’m a fan of sweet bombshells, of walking in and not going unnoticed. And this one is too soft in terms of sillage and longevity if you’re freshly showered, like 4 hours but without projecting anything. Sweet powdery caramel, its aroma lulls you. For the price, I wouldn’t buy it again; in fact, I almost don’t use it. It’s at the bottom of my collection. The bottle and box are cute. I don’t know if they reformulated it, but the current one is a disappointment for my tastes.
Well, I don’t know if it’s because I bought it from someone who sells store testers, but I don’t feel it’s sweet at all; I don’t smell the caramel or the vanilla, it’s more like I smell it as somewhat citrusy. It doesn’t seem like much to me; they sold it at a good price, I wanted to try it because it was supposedly sweet, but I can’t find any sweetness in it…
It’s very special and distinct; I haven’t smelled anything like it until today. I think it’s very well made <3. A torrid caramel... I had it for years, forgotten, until I smelled it one night in the queue at the fair's rides. It hit me with a gust of hot night air, summer night, and... it smells so good, it's unmistakable :'D. It's back and present as it deserves <3.
A bit disappointed. I loved it when I tested it in the store, but once I bought it, I don’t know, I just stopped liking it as I kept using it. It got boring on me.
A infusion of vanilla, iris, and talcum powder caramel. Finally, I found my signature scent? Yes, am I tired of wearing it? No. I don’t want to drag out what makes me feel this way, so I’ll summarize: Prada Candy is a whole experience in sweet, powdery perfumes. I know exactly how to describe it with a scene. Imagine we have a new pink handbag; inside are popsicles and vanilla and strawberry candies, some pink eyeshadows, and a high-quality plum-red lipstick. We open the bag on a sunny day, and you’re greeted by a satisfying scent beyond measure, because that’s exactly what this gem projects at first contact. I wore it to a party one night, and I’m not sure how to explain what it made me feel as the hours passed, besides being a quite pleasant, non-invasive scent that gives a sense of lightness, haha. Do I make myself clear? I felt like I was floating on clouds every time I moved as the perfume spread through the air. It lasted about 6-7 hours on my skin. I totally prefer that the perfume isn’t too noticeable or has low sillage; while it doesn’t have the trail I’m used to, it’s very present, and I think that adds to it, a delicate sweetness and not too loud compared to other vanilla and caramel fragrances. Why do I love the bottle so much? Maybe because of the pink color and the Art Deco inspiration. This perfume is literally me.
Sweet and clean, I like it for everyday wear because it’s not overwhelming, but you notice you’re wearing it. I detect the caramel and an elegant vanilla with talc, very pretty; it’s the finest gourmand I own.
It’s one of my favorite fragrances: it has the perfect caramel scent; nothing childish, nothing vulgar, nothing cheap. It’s sweet and elegant at the same time, which is rare in my opinion. At the same time, it doesn’t last at all. It saddens me that a perfect scent like this doesn’t last. I checked if it was a dupe and it wasn’t. I think reformulations have a lot to do with it. For the lucky ones who do get longevity, the ideal time is autumn or early spring, during the day. It’s more autumnal than winter; I think it fades away in very cold winters. It’s a great scent for work or whenever you want to make a good impression.
I’d like users who love Prada Candy to recommend a similar one. For me, it’s unique, but I’m sure there’s something similar out there. Thanks!
Simple, smells good but not too much. You can detect the musk and talc from the start. I barely smell the caramel, and it doesn’t last long. When I sprayed it, it reminded me of Kenzo Flower; it’s basically the same scent but better reformulated (Candy is more wearable and softer); they just share the musk. I imagine it on someone very feminine, a bit childish, wearing pastel clothes. It’s extremely sweet, doesn’t last, and is expensive for what it is. I recommend testing it on skin first and sniffing around stores before buying.
Smells like a baby.
Sweet, sweet, sweet, but not over the top. Smells like hot caramel, like dulce de leche. It has something elegant; it’s a fine caramel, a French dessert with powdered sugar. The drydown is more adult, less juvenile, and warm. It doesn’t feel cloying to me, nor is it overly complex. It has that special something that makes you want to smell your arm every now and then.
Smells like caramel, sweet but without being overpowering. It’s not a bomb that everyone within a kilometer knows you’re wearing; it’s for those who prefer discretion. You have to get close to notice it, and it’s not intrusive.
Pleasant, though I find it overly cloying. The talc notes are very prominent. I see it more as a fragrance for an older woman rather than something youthful. It has good performance but can be tiring. I don’t recommend buying blindly, especially in heat or enclosed spaces.
A luxury of elegance; the sweetness is perfectly balanced, and that talc base is incredible. It just lacks a bit of longevity, but it’s undoubtedly a classic for any occasion.
Smells like a freshly moved-in baby.
Another perfume that made me think, ‘Where have you been all my life?’ If I had heard of Candy in high school, I would have rushed to try it. For years, I avoided it, thinking it would be another sweet scent like Lolita Lempicka, but no—and thanks for that. The day I tested it on my skin, I decided it was my next purchase. That instant love remains. It’s a soft, sweet, musky, and powdery touch, perfect for cold days; nothing invasive, subtle, and intimate. I use it to sleep in during cold days. Great longevity, not overwhelming, and doesn’t smell synthetic. A beauty. Prada Candy, I love you.
I perfectly remember the moment I smelled it on a friend and was fascinated. I bought it years later in an 80 ml bottle, but it ultimately didn’t convince me. It took me years to finish it. The opening is sweet due to the caramel, almost the only stage I like. Then it feels very powdery, which I don’t like. When it dries, it leaves a bitter scent, like burnt caramel. It has no sillage and low longevity; it stays close to the skin for about two hours. I recommend testing it on your skin before buying.
I don’t know what happened to this perfume; I owned it and the caramel note was much stronger. I tried it again at a perfumery and only detected powder, with almost no caramel when it dried. I hate reformulations; it’s not worth buying again—it smells like pure baby powder.
I smelled it because I accidentally squeezed the bottle at FreeShop. It’s absolutely delicious. Strangely, it reminds me a lot of Valentino Born in Roma. I even doubted if I had touched another perfume that was left on my hand. I’d love to know if anyone else experiences this, because I fell in love with it.
Very rich, I’ve loved it for many years.
The Candy by Prada. Like the first one, nothing. It imposed that overly sweet caramel-vanilla vibe with a powdery and musky touch, very common these days. Youthful, chic, charming, delicate, clean, almost naive, though not for brats or very young women. It’s 100% Prada, an Italian house with tradition and elegance. Unfortunately, everything here is moderate, refined, and perhaps a bit boring. It doesn’t last long, about 5-6 hours, and by 2-3 hours it’s already close to the skin with a short trail. Surely it’s been reformulated today and toned down even further to sell its many boring flankers.
How I wished for this until I finally got it, I love that it’s powdery and smells like caramel.
I love it, it’s truly tender. Very powdery and musky; as it dries, a bit of caramel comes through but the soft talc always dominates. Smells like rose, feminine and tender without being childish, perfect for autumn and winter. In summer, the musk sometimes smells like sweat. If you’re looking for something super sweet, test it first. It’s beautiful and I like it. Lasts a long time but close to the skin; the trail is soft but noticeable when you pass by. Now it smells a bit like a baby or a wet wipe. If it doesn’t bother you, you might like it.
Light and sweet caramel with a clean talc base. Feels like a soft candy without being cloying.
Smells like baby wipes, zero points.
