Hmm, it smells so good, that’s what my wife said when we tested it in a department store; I said I have to have it, and I do. Wow, with this scent, you feel like hugging. Well, regarding the notes: blood orange, coffee, and ebony wood. With that first beautiful spray, its first note is like the eldest Polo Red, that sweet cranberry, but it only lasts a minute alone before giving way to coffee conjugated with ebony wood. This link gives it a creamy, chocolatey touch without being cloying; that mature coffee touch makes the difference in this flanker.

  • Jovahnyperfum99

I recommend it; you receive many compliments from this exquisite fragrance. I recommend using it at night on dates; it has an incredible effect on women.

  • Simply put, it’s a tremendous perfume. Although it’s true it could be considered somewhat linear due to the predominant sweetness in its notes, it’s an exquisite aroma, and the longevity, at least on my skin, is certainly notable, not to mention the clothes, which still smell quite good the next day I put them on. The combination of coffee and ebony wood is very, very good, and the opening is brutal. However, the blood orange goes more unnoticed because when something is quite sweet… it’s hard for the citrus to be noticeable. For me, it’s the best offering from Ralph Lauren, and I’d even dare to say it’s on par with many niche perfumes with similar notes from other brands, and this comes at a much more attractive price considering its quality. Not a single person from my circle has said they don’t like it; on the contrary, everyone loves it and thinks it’s a very good scent. From my humble opinion… Bravo!

  • Olisqueando

It’s a pretty good fragrance, perhaps a bit generic in its citrus opening, but that blood orange is spectacular; I don’t feel it’s too synthetic, and spraying this cologne is a treat. As minutes pass, the best part arrives; it picks up an exquisite sweetness that is nothing like cloying, still mixed with fading citrus touches. After about twenty minutes, there’s already a sweet and refined aroma, slightly chocolatey, soft but with very good trail, presence, and a certain elegance. It stays like this for about two or three hours. Then it fades in strength, but paradoxically that fine chocolatey sweetness increases noticeably at times. I honestly can’t distinguish the coffee note, but I do feel that chocolatey touch mixed with cookies and bakery sweets. I see it for autumn-winter, daytime, casual wear, ideal for cold and rainy days, and perfect for being with your partner, as it’s a scent that seems to wrap you up at close range; it’s very captivating and liked by both the wearer and those close by. Wide age range; a guy from 18 up to a 45-year-old with a youthful look can wear it. It could be unisex but leans more masculine. A fragrance I believe is notable in all its facets. Worth it.

  • Very warm and sweet, as they say. Ideal for cold days. Extremely long-lasting, can go on for hours. It’s pleasant and not overpowering.

  • Honestly, the opening notes of this perfume are its strength: the blood orange with a coffee touch is spectacular. HOWEVER, it doesn’t smell the same on skin as on the sample, and those well-defined ‘sweet-citrus-sharp’ opening notes disappear quickly, transforming into a linear gourmand. It’s not above Polo Red Intense in terms of scent, but in quality it doesn’t seem generic or artificial at all; it’s very original and very long-lasting (minimum 8 hours). A great achievement by Ralph Lauren! Worth having as a sweet perfume option, and I add that it’s not a perfume for every day, but rather for special occasions.

  • A solid fragrance from the Ralph Lauren house. From the Red line, this is the best performer. The note pyramid is simple but works perfectly: coffee, ebony wood, and blood orange. A roasted and candied gourmand, ideal for winter. I see it as versatile, best for cold weather and evening wear. Recommended blind buy if you prefer edible scents. Longevity 10/10, Scent 10/10, Sillage 8/10, Versatility 7/10. Great purchase, worthy of a good collection.

What a perfume! Just one spray and it leaves the sensation of having tasted a lot of caramel with a citrus that, far from being fresh, seems toasted, with a hint of coffee and a creamy finish that lets you keep smelling it. It’s different from the rest of Polo Red; darker, burnt, sweeter, and more sensual. I’d say quite bolder, though linear, but with a fairly interesting intensity. It reminded me a bit of Mugler’s Amen line; it has dark vanilla, a little tobacco, and a wood that gives it a subtle smoky touch. I’ll edit again regarding its longevity and development on my skin.

  • La Nariz Simple

Scent: Good. Projection: Good. Longevity: Good. Quality: Very Good. Blind buy: Yes, but… 6/10. I bought it based on reviews and am a bit disappointed overall. It smells good, sure, but nothing super different or special. The projection isn’t great.

  • Rickelmer

Ugh, I actually tried this before among 15 other fragrances and it was my favorite, right up there with JPG’s Ultra Male. Today I finally decided to buy it and tested it on my wrist; it’s one of the most delicious openings I’ve ever experienced. You get that sweet citrus, like a red fruit (though they say blood orange), lasting about 10 minutes. Then it blends into a delicious coffee note that I smell very clearly, before turning creamier and woodier. Wow! I love it. I live in the Caribbean, so I know it works better in the cold, but I don’t mind. A month later, as promised: I didn’t realize it was a Parfum version; that surprised me. My wife loved it. Update: After several months of use, my opinion hasn’t changed; in fact, it’s climbed into my top 10. That blood orange opening that blends with coffee a few minutes in—but it’s not a roasted coffee; the mix feels chocolatey, then turns woody and sweet. It’s delicious, and several women have already asked me what I’m wearing. Honestly, I wasn’t a Polo fan before, but I noticed it after reading reviews, tried it, and ugh, wow. The longevity is great; I was set on buying the 75ml but ended up taking the 125ml. I’m actually wearing it right now; the bottle is a worthy backup.

  • For me, Polo surprises with this fragrance; what I like is how the grapefruit takes away the darkness.

  • I think it’s an interesting fragrance, with fresh spicy and warm moments, loaded with saffron and earthy notes, juicy, fruity, and a development that turns balsamic, sweet, and creamy like coffee. Good combination of notes, simple and effective. It reminds me of Givenchy Only Absolu but much more relaxed and youthful. Good for the night, lasting and pleasant. Well, well…

  • I really like it. The listed notes are identifiable, and I assume there are unsaid ones like caramel, sugar, and tonka bean, giving it a gourmand character. The dark bottle, like Polo Black, tries to evoke the night and perhaps masculinity, but in my opinion, both stray from those stereotypical ideas. Frankly, it smells like a bakery, patisserie, or coffee shop to me. A very friendly, magnetic, tender, and youthful scent. But I imagine it’s not for everyone. I also don’t think it’s for summer due to its high level of sweetness. I think it’s one of the best in the Polo line. Scent: 9.25, Versatility: 7, Longevity: 8.25 (a bit more than 8 hours), Projection: 7, Sillage: 8, Value: 8. Good atomizer, but the bottle seems to have slightly thin glass, so be careful with drops.

  • Not much to add: it’s an excellent recreation of the coffee note with superb performance and projection. Unfortunately, it’s been discontinued. At the perfumery I usually go to, they confirmed the distributor pulled all stock. EDIT: It’s even gone from the online stores I usually browse.

  • Just bought it and tried it on my skin. I didn’t buy it in-store; they say it’s discontinued, so I’m glad I managed to get it, especially at 24€ for 125ml. An offer you can’t miss. The batch is from 2017, which is even better. We’ll see how it performs.

  • Excellent perfume, women love it. It doesn’t have much projection, but it’s perfect for intimate encounters. Great longevity and good price, hard to find someone who won’t like it. A solid investment.

  • Midnight, an unusual blood moon. Trees and paths in faded ochres and crimsons against a grayish indigo canvas. A screech owl whispers through the brush and branches; the ground crunches beneath my feet. In a clearing, a lantern guides me toward a faded crimson gypsy wagon. As I approach, the horse kicks up dust and snorts, ‘I don’t know you, be careful.’ The slightly ajar door reveals a sign: ‘Madame Sounya, well of wisdom.’ ‘Come from where the sun sets, stranger… enter and take a seat.’ She, dressed in burnt-blue velvet with raven eyes, dances the flame of a candle. Embroidered satin curtains double the warmth. On a table, a smoked black ceramic plate overflows with sugared fruits: ginger, pineapple, red orange, apple… She offers steaming coffee aromatized with cocoa butter and a Bohemian-style sugar bowl. Behind, sandalwood incense perfumes the caravan. On a divan, ancient instruments: tambourine, bandoneon, guitar, violin, and a mandala-adorned bouzouki. My senses get drunk on this blend of incense, candied fruits, woods, and chocolatey coffee. ‘What is your name?’ ‘Broxio.’ A sharp look and a grave gesture make me straighten my sweater collar. ‘Finish your coffee, traveler. You’ll find an inn two leagues away.’ I take a sip, thank her, and prepare to leave. Madame Sounya takes my sugared coffee: ‘Abstain and endure, Ian Broxio. Steer clear of sweet talk. Let this invitation be a farewell to your former life.’ ‘Don’t worry, I will.’ I turn to leave when I notice a warm, moist breath on the back of my neck. I slowly turn: there’s the insane equine mask, with wild eyes, a grinning face, and teeth like the Cheshire cat’s. I try to flee, but my shoes are stuck to the leaf litter. Everything cracks… Where am I? Ah, right… Ugh! This is what happens when I ignore my doctor and stuff myself with a mango cheesecake last night. If I’m going to sin, I’ll sin in excess. Hee hee hee. ¡Iiiiihiiiihiihi…!

  • Rene Alejandro

It’s a very ‘close’ fragrance, with little projection or sillage, but with acceptable performance, charming and intimate. Recommended for night or special dates, not for everyday wear. Although it doesn’t project much, it can turn cloying if you don’t like sweet notes. 7/10

  • Maybe for some, this is a soulless artificial gourmand, more of the dark, nocturnal ‘Close Encounters’ type, and it’s true the market is full of those notes (cardamom, wood, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, etc). But we should value the reviews here to guide us and avoid blind buying; the best is always to try a decant. And to the point: it’s one of my favorites because, unlike others in the same line (Oumo, Dark Night, Ebony Wood), the blood orange and coffee give it a citrus twist that lowers the sweetness, making it playful, pleasant, and easy to wear without tiring the nose. Projection is moderate, but it makes up for it with brutal skin longevity of about 8 hours; you stay in your personal bubble, and ‘Close Encounters’ is a hit that everyone asks about. Wear it day or night in cold or mild weather, in summer only on cool nights (under 27 degrees) so it doesn’t overwhelm. Tiens!

  • I expected intense coffee, but instead, I found something sweet with very soft coffee in the background. Want coffee? Go for Ferragamo Uomo Signature. Want simpler coffee? Try Halloween Man X. Want a realistic coffee with a sweet touch without going overboard? Café Tonka is definitely it. This seems very sweet and intense, and in this composition, sweet doesn’t mean good; it gives me a headache and seems excessively sweet… Not for me; I wanted coffee and found intense caramel instead.

  • Polo Red Extreme isn’t a complex fragrance, but it has a different and appealing scent. Although it’s not warm, I think it’s suitable for autumn and winter afternoons; it features a rich but bearable sweetness, like One Million Lucky. It’s a linear fragrance that can get boring if you wear it every day; in my opinion, it lacked a plus to be outstanding, but it is good; I liked it. Good performance compared to the Red I owned, which lasted a breath.

  • A very rich scent. It feels unfair that they always discontinue the best perfumes. Where do we find one that lasts 10 hours on the skin? I don’t get it. It reminds me of the smell of Coca-Cola candies from when I was little. Good perfume, great projection and longevity.

  • What a great perfume. If the opening doesn’t convince you, wait 10 minutes and it turns into an addiction. It’s simple but exquisite, soft, and long-lasting; those sweet base notes make it sensual and captivating. The blend of coffee and woods unifies everything perfectly without being annoying. If you don’t like coffee, don’t worry, it’s not very evident; it’s well-integrated. The scent is mysterious, seductive, a king of the night. It’s a perfumon. I got compliments from everyone I tested it on without telling them what it was; they loved it. Ideal for night outs and romantic dates, not so powerful to stand out at a party, but anyone nearby will smell it. The feeling of wearing it is pure bliss.

  • I still have mine; it’s the only one in the Polo line worth it, shame they discontinued it. The good part is that two sprays last hours and hours.

  • I bought it today because I wanted something sweet with coffee, knowing it would be gone soon. Right out of the bottle, it smells like coffee and orange to the max, then turns sweet and addictive. It smells rich and distinct, very sexy for young people, versatile for going out or work. Perfect for ages 25 to 40. The only downside is low projection and moderate sillage, but you’ll definitely get compliments. Rating: 8/10.

  • Des Baux

I was dying to try it almost blindly, but thanks to a decant, I made it. For me, it’s too sweet, gives me a headache, and I barely smell the coffee. What I do like is how it dries down, though it starts off cloying. I get it for nightwear and indoors. Now, two years later, I see it fits specific situations: I wore it to the countryside where I work; it’s cold there, and it’s perfect. In the city, I didn’t like it as much, just like with Encre Noir; in the countryside, it’s a marvel, in the city too.

  • It’s a beast! My wife gifted it to me two years ago, and I treat it like gold since perfumes here are pricey and need protection. Just be aware: two sprays last all night and attract compliments non-stop. Highly recommended.

  • CarlosKloth

It’s my signature scent. My brother bought it and regretted it, so I immediately bought it because the smell was very different from what I know. It’s sweet, gourmand, with an enormous longevity of 12 hours; the clothes smell like this for days. I’m taking care of my first 75ml bottle, but since I heard it was discontinued, I already have a 125ml one for when this runs out. With just two sprays, you’re good for the whole day. It’s true that it’s a flat scent, almost doesn’t evolve, and the orange fades, but it’s a delicious smell. For dates, cold days, and quiet nights. I don’t recommend it for going out to parties, nor much less for the office.

  • Omega Imperator

Smells like dark orange with dark chocolate at first, as if they were dusting coffee on top. Then the chocolate fades quickly, leaving a roasted coffee fragrance, semi-gourmand, with good performance of 8 hours and a decent trail. If you’re looking for something groundbreaking for parties, this isn’t it; it stays like a bubble near your arms, dense but without invading. A good fragrance in general, but not worth paying a lot if you catch it at disproportionate prices.

  • LosPerfumesDeJavi

I remember trying it and saying ‘I think I’ve found my favorite fragrance,’ with that warm coffee scent I loved so much. But then the grapefruit showed up and ruined everything. It has a high projection that on cold days makes you feel cozy, but when the grapefruit appears, it turns bitter and stops being so special. What a pity… because its dry down is incredible.

  • Franchiranna

I’ve been using it for years and unfortunately it’s discontinued, but it’s a GREAT fragrance. It has excellent longevity and projection. In my opinion, it develops better in autumn and winter. The scent is exquisite, the coffee note is predominant, sweet but not cloying. My batch is from 2019 and I have no complaints; quite the opposite. I’m on my fifth bottle and it has never disappointed me. While others suffered reformulations, this behaved the same on my skin. Scent: 9/10, Longevity: 8/10, Projection: 8/10. Every skin is a world, but for me, it always performed equally.

  • Polo Red Extreme marked my adolescence; it’s my most personal fragrance. I got it in a promotional pack with three versions, and among so many citrusy and generic scents, this one stood out for its authenticity. It smells like leather and tobacco, a bit bitter at first due to the strong trail, but actually it’s sweet, like dark chocolate. The longevity is incredible: about three sprays last all day. The trail is heavy and long-lasting, so I recommend few applications to avoid bothering others; it lasts for weeks on clothes. It’s brought me many compliments; they always ask how I smell. Although I now recognize it’s more mature and I wouldn’t recommend it to guys under 22, it worked perfectly for me at 17-18. It transcends labels, smells good, and whoever wears it will smell good. Simply the best I’ve had until age 20. Rating: 10/10.

  • A delight for coffee lovers. I got interested in it precisely because of that. It goes great with its brother, Red Intense; one for winter nights and the other for summer (if you don’t live in very hot areas). Scent: maximum uniqueness. Longevity and projection: very good. Versatility and presentation: average. Compliments and value for money: top. Atomization is ideal. Age range: 20-40. Unisex level: yes. Formality: casual and business. Use: ideal for night. In short: ‘Moccachino at a Ritz’. Occasion: winter date. Alternative: Mugler Pure Coffee. Blind buy? Yes. Rating: 4.5/5.

  • The best coffee note I’ve ever experienced in a designer fragrance. Although it seems like a winter scent, it’s quite versatile. It has great longevity and projection; in my opinion, it’s a 10/10. It’s a shame they discontinued it, but if you see it, don’t hesitate to buy it.

  • Just picked up a new tester, batch 11-2016, the very first launch batch, and ufff, it blew my mind. For God’s sake, it smells so good. The best part is that it’s super intimate; it doesn’t project much, but in close encounters, it’s an absolute delight.

  • Tomorrowsdust

Polo Red Extreme is a gem the market failed to appreciate in time. Though it’s no longer available, it wasn’t due to a lack of quality, but because it was too unique for current molds. From the first spray, it wraps you in a masculine and refined aura: an elegant, dark coffee, like that from a luxury café, mixed with a touch of blood orange that adds freshness and prevents it from being heavy. That combination of warmth and juiciness is addictive. Its longevity is impeccable, firm on the skin without being intrusive. Ideal for special nights or cool climates, today it’s a lost treasure for those who know how to appreciate it. If you find it, don’t let it slip away.
