This fragrance is perfect for a memorable day, a plain day, or a day where you know it will be totally normal. Its notes and concentration are designed so you don’t even think about standing out with your scent. Keep in mind this perfume has been around for over 20 years, with a formulation based on the 90s perfume hit. The mint, mandarin, lavender, and woody notes make this a time capsule in a bottle. It’s recommended for sports activities or for the office on a Monday—it gets you dressed up without drawing compliments for the reasons mentioned above. It’s great for daytime or summer, but for evening wear, there are better options, such as CK One Shock.
Magnificent perfume, far superior to mainstream and expensive brands like CK One and its imitators. If you want to impress a woman, this scent will make them say you smell great. It’s actually my personal signature, and I’ve never gone unnoticed. The only issue is that it’s become trendy again amidst a flood of expensive but low-quality, soulless fragrances. I’ve tried switching to something else so that not every ‘kid’ brings the same generic office smell, as I hate smelling like a payroll sheet. Unfortunately, I’ve switched and found pleasant alternatives like Swiss Army or Versace Blue Jeans—the latter giving the best results so far—but nothing compares to Polo Sport. Soon I’ll likely try Aqua di Gio, though I hope no ‘hoodlum’ brings it to the office. If they do, I’ll import something from Europe that matches the freshness and taste of Polo Sport. Otherwise, I’ll stick with my classic, even if the janitor is wearing it, because…
Rich aroma. This fragrance truly opened the door for aquatic scents in the 90s, even before Davidoff’s Cool Water at the end of the 80s. Cool Water is a solid fragrance, but be aware that this one offers better performance and quality. Aqua Quorum shares similar notes and is super affordable. While we know Quorum’s packaging isn’t the most refined (it feels a bit rough), set that aside and compare the two.
I absolutely love this style of ‘American’ fragrances. I identify Polo Sport as a refreshing, aromatic blue mint. It opens with that mentholated note alongside lavender and marine algae, then evolves into floral tones that blend harmoniously, with a hint of spicy ginger emerging. As it dries down, the woods give it body. Personally, it’s hard not to compare it to other scents in this category, which I also adore. I won’t say which is better, but I will highlight some differences. The one I find most similar to Polo Sport is Animale for Men. They’re alike but not identical; in my opinion, the difference lies in the floral notes. Animale uses sweeter florals, whereas Polo Sport keeps them more restrained.
I owned this perfume back in 1995 and recently brought a vintage batch back into my collection. It’s over 20 years old, and I bought it with some trepidation about its condition, but once I smelled it, it instantly transported me back to those late 1995 nights and reminded me of the very first time I wore it. It doesn’t project too strongly or leave a massive trail, just like it didn’t back in ’95; of course, it wasn’t Fahrenheit by Dior. The opening features fresh lavender and mint blended with marine algae or woods, with aldehydes and a subtle ginger note layered beautifully together. I understand why this scent is discontinued; while many love it, it simply wouldn’t be commercially viable today. You can still find it (with newer formulations) on some websites or early batches on eBay at reasonable prices. An interesting fact: the bottle originally had a silver spray, but years later it switched to blue with a reformulation. This later version leaned heavily into Polo Blue Sport vibes, boosting the mint and ginger while dialing back the lavender and algae, which explains why many of us, including myself, sense a strong connection between the two. It’s a perfume destined for the olfactory attic soon, accompanied by the legend that Harry Fremont used it for Aqua Quorum. Though I humbly believe much of what Sport smelled like in the 90s was just mint and lavender, including Massimo Dutti Sport.
I owned this fragrance a few years ago, about 13 years back. It was a good scent at a great price, ranging from 800 to 1400 Mexican pesos. When I tried to find it again, I couldn’t get it for 2400 pesos. Honestly, there are better options for less money. From then on, it seems to me that it’s a good fresh fragrance, apparently mentholated.
A fresh, dynamic fragrance that smells very similar to Nautica Rush (also by Harry Fremont).
Polo Sport is the fragrance I’ve owned most often in my life; this is the fifth time I’ve come across it. Unfortunately, reformulations have hurt its longevity and projection. Despite that, the scent is still excellent and rightfully a great classic. It’s perfect for hot weather thanks to its great freshness, making it ideal for casual use. I currently wear it less because I have so many fragrances, but Polo Sport remains a very important part of my collection.
38 degrees Celsius in Morelos, Mexico, lots of heat, 8 sprays, a perfect blend of mint and citrus, as if you were in a garden with freshly cut grass and a very soft, almost imperceptible, fleeting sweet touch. It’s comforting against the heat you feel; I’d even say it smells marine, though very subdued. A decant for over-applying is perfect. For events in hot places, you leave with a very casual touch that fits the moment perfectly.
I’ll never forget the first time I encountered that scent. My brother, rushing to get to high school, sprayed it on himself while I was still deep in sleep. But the aroma was a revelation, a waking up deep within me. It was as if I had inhaled the purest, freshest air I had ever felt caress my senses. It’s like diving into a green field, saturated with mint, under a fresh, slightly cloudy sky blessed by recent rain. The persistent scent of damp earth intertwines with the breath of mint leaves, creating a pure and renewing atmosphere. Looking up at the sky, you take a deep breath, and in that precise moment, everything makes sense. This is how Polo Sport manifests itself, as a sensory experience that transports you to that place of peace and freshness, where every essence blends into a sigh that captures the very essence of freshness.
I first got this in 2007, when it was incredibly popular. Now, in 2022, I tried it at a department store and it already smells synthetic. It was good in its time, but these days there are better options available.
My first perfume. My order arrived yesterday, and as soon as I put it on, I felt like I was back in the 90s. That mentholated freshness from that great generation brought back amazing memories. It’s true it no longer has the power or longevity of before, but it’s worth having in your collection. A different and versatile option for today.
A fresh, clean, and mentholated fragrance. I don’t recommend it because it’s not cheap and the performance doesn’t match the price. But if you can find it at a good deal, it’s a great option to break out of your daily routine.
In my student days, it smelled delicious, but I couldn’t afford it back then. Now, sadly, I see that its projection and longevity are far from what they used to be. It’s a pity the quality has dropped so much.
Unfortunately, it became too mainstream and clones appeared, some even of better quality and longevity. It defined its era: a fresh, sharp scent with great sillage. Now, for 10% of the price, you can find the same thing but with better projection and staying power.
One of the freshest and richest fragrances I own. It smells delicious and makes you feel freshly showered. It’s like mint and peppermint soap with green grass notes, clean wood, and juicy fruity touches, with a floral base. Excellent for hot weather; it keeps you cool and refreshed. It might remind you of Quorum Blue, and if it does, it’s worth buying—it’s much cheaper.
I like it, though honestly, I prefer Dior Homme Cologne, Libre, or YSL. I spent years loving the Blue by Ralph Lauren. It varies: sometimes it smells like wet Tutifruti gum over classic Polo Blue, other times more citrusy, but always with gum and a woody finish. The bottle is perfect for Polo Sport lovers; I love the aesthetic. It’s affordable, great for smelling good all week without breaking the bank. It’s a classic scent, like shaving cream on suede, but youthful thanks to its sweet, caramelized notes.
Very rich and fresh, just as the name suggests. Ideal for sports and daily wear in spring or summer. I recommend it for teenagers and men aged 15 to 30.
I bought it again for this 2024 Chilean summer because I had it in my 2000s memory trunk. It’s a pity that, due to reformulation, it doesn’t last even two hours. I apply it to skin and clothes, and it disappears in an hour and a half. Very disappointed.
My first original perfume in 1994. I was a teenager. One day, my parents and I were in Liverpool, a girl handed me a little note, I ran away, and I thought, ‘What a delight.’ Polo Sport by Ralph Lauren: modern, fresh, sparkling, mentholated, with great projection. I give it 10 for nostalgia, even though I haven’t worn it in over 10 years. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a blind buy. Scent: 10, Versatility: 6, Longevity: 6, Projection: 6.
I managed to detect several declared notes, but others not. I sense mint, geranium, lavender, and lemon; the rest I might not know in isolation, so I can’t identify them. The woods show up at the end, though I get a sense of oakmoss at some point (not declared). It’s a shame the fixation is so poor, but the aroma is very pleasing, even on a warm night thanks to those slightly sweet notes. Scent nostalgia: when I was little in the 90s, using this was a luxury; now there are thousands of clones that project and last longer for a third of the price. If you’re from Chile, I recommend trying the inspiration by Zachary.
I used this back in the early 2000s and it was an absolute bombshell—you could smell it from yards away. Today, it’s a shame: it disappears within minutes of spraying it on.
The best option for the gym: fresh, energizing, and non-invasive. Its plus is that it lasts the two hours my routine takes; for any other context, you’d have the wrong expectations. Curiously: my dad used it a lot in the 90s, and now with a 2024 batch, it’s more enjoyable thanks to the reformulations.
It’s fresh and, although outdated, it doesn’t fail at its job: sports.
I used it in my teens and now I bought it back for nostalgia and the low price. It’s a good scent, but it felt too synthetic, so I gave it away.
It doesn’t convince me. It’s fresh but very synthetic, more like an air freshener than a perfume, with terrible performance in both trail and longevity (it asks for reapplication before the hour is up). I won’t buy it again.
It became one of my favorites during my teenage years; I’ve owned it four times and would buy it again.
To me, it’s just water and soap, not a perfume or cologne. Nothing more to say.
Polo Sport by Ralph Lauren: one of the best soap and ‘clean’ fragrances ever. Perfect to keep handy after a shower, for casual outings, or post-workout. Opens with mint, tangerine, and basil, settling into a soft lavender with great fresh projection. It doesn’t have a massive trail, but it’s noticeable in enclosed spaces. Suitable for any age. Rating: 8/10.
The DeLorean Marty drives in a bottle: a time machine back to the 90s, a sporty and clean scent, like a rich kid from that era. A wonder that reformulation has weakened; today it’s more for personal use than to charm at 2000s parties. I’m just happy to find it in sales at Spanish perfumeries, no longer on the Ralph Lauren shelf next to its siblings. It lasts less but costs less. Thanks, Harry Freemont, for this 1994 gem, even if it’s a rip-off of Puig’s Aqua Quorum. For nostalgic souls like me, the current generation doesn’t value it because they’re sold on One Million and Sauvage.
Fresh fragrance, clean scent, green, aquatic, with only a very slight sweet touch and at the end another light note of freshly cut wood. A fragrance that makes you remember the 90s, just like Eternity and Tommy. It has some similarity to CK Eternity, only Polo Sport is slightly sweeter. If you want to smell clean, fresh, and like the 90s, you have options like Polo Sport among others.
A classic among classics… It’s a real pity it doesn’t have the longevity of old days, however, it can still remind you of its glory days. It has a quite fresh opening; with all that mix, I think the only word that comes to mind is ‘camphoraceous’. At least on my skin, it lasts about 5 hours max. Very pleasant and wearable, but you can already feel the passage of years, although it still holds up very well. Towards the end of its life on skin, you can really smell the musk and amber that remain only as vestiges after those 5 hours. Very pleasant and I acquired it purely out of nostalgia, which shouldn’t be missing in the collection of anyone who calls themselves a perfume collector.
The opening is exactly as described: mint, ozonic, and lavender. I can’t perceive the citrus and floral notes independently, only what the blend evokes. As it dries down, I detect a warm, marine, and slightly woody aroma. On my skin, it lasts 4 hours, enough to reapply happily.
A total throwback to the 90s. Very good for sports. Clean, non-invasive scent. Similar to Cool Water but with a younger twist. At 30 euros for 125 ml, it’s a great option.
I bought it because it was on sale and because it was my first serious cologne back in 1996-1997 (later replaced by Acqua di Gio). It has a certain air of the original, but now the menthol is much more pronounced; it’s fresher, reminds me more of Cool Water than that original scent, but worse than Cool Water. What a disappointment…
In my opinion, this fragrance smells like celery.
This perfume is nostalgic for me; my dad gave me a bottle when I was a high school student, and now at 32, I have a bottle in my small collection. While I wouldn’t recommend it to be objective, it is cheap, yes, but the scent isn’t the best; it’s a hit of synthetic citrus that, once it settles, smells like expensive bug spray. It’s neither good nor bad, it’s just X. Mediocre projection, mediocre longevity, but it brings back good memories.
It has many good reviews, but I don’t like it. It’s synthetic, an unpleasant artificial scent. I only wear it when I go out to exercise, just to use it up. Of course, I won’t buy it again; it’s not worth it even at this price. There are much better options for that price.
It’s a great perfume to wear and smell good, plus it lasts a decent amount of time on the skin.
Yes, it’s synthetic but smells really good. The price is unbeatable, perfect for the gym or a walk in the sun; it’s super fresh and mentholated. It gives me nostalgia, feels vintage. I’m running low on my bottle, but if you don’t have a bathroom air freshener and guests are coming, this is a great joke to make things smell nice. I totally recommend it for the gym or a hot day, though I wouldn’t use it for other things, maybe the beach, but I’m not sure. I like it a lot, it doesn’t get boring, and it feels quite harmless.
